Ipad Mini Overheated? 1st Replacement

I recently just got another ipad mini just 2 days ago this ipad is the replacement for an previous ipad mini I had earlier. The problem is that I was charging my ipad mini last night right before I went to sleep this morning when I woke up my ipad was hot to the touch. What do I do because it's only been two days and this is a replacement.

You putting a lot of juice into a device that is 80% battery inside. When charging, the iPad will feel warm to the touch. If it's truly HOT, then it may be a problem.

  • My iPad Mini overheated and now won't turn on!!

Last night I plugged my ipad mini in like I do every night to charge it. This morning it was very hot and was turned off. I tried to let it cool down all day and try turning it on then, but it didn't work. It since then I haven't been able to turn it back on. Should I just take it to the Apple store or is there somethingn that I am missing? HELP SOMEONE PLEASE!!!

    Yes it is!
I had the same problem twice! Still under warranty my Ipad mini was on charger durning the night.  In the morning it was very hot and would not start again.  I took it in to Apple store they replaced it gave me 3 months more warranty and 4 months later the EXACT same thing happened to the new mini.  Now they say there is "NOTHING" they can do about it?  This is clearly a design or manufacturing flaw.  Apple needs to recall this product.  I am now going direct to Apple to see what they propose to do.  A full refund or a normal Ipad.  I will only take a new mini if they can show they have fixed this flaw! Anybody else interested in pursuing this with Apple?
Then i got this.... I RECEIVED AN EMAIL FROM APPLE SAYING THEY REMOVED MY POST ABOVE. "We’ve removed your post Re: iPad Mini Overheating because it contained either product feedback or feature requests."  NO IT DIDN'T !  APPLE LEAVE YOU WITH NO WAY TO COMPLAIN!

  • IPad Mini Overheating

Has anyone else experienced this? I plugged in my new iPad Mini with the supplied charger, overnight. When I disconnected it the next morning, the iPad was almost too hot to touch! It then would not turn on, even after cooling down. I took it back to my AT&T store where I purchased it a week ago, and they were kind enough to replace it.

  • IPad Mini overheated and won't turn on.

Hello everyone, I would like to kindly ask if I can replace my ipad mini 32gb wifi +cellular if I bring it tomorrow at the apple store. I am from the Philippines and I also bought my ipad mini here also. I think it is still covered by my 1 year warranty because I bought it March last year (2013).
This is what happened. I was charging my iPad Mini yesterday and left it for a few hours, after 3 hours I think, I checked it and it was hot and won't turn on anymore. I immediately unplugged the charger and tried to reboot it and also tried connecting it on itunes but it didn't solve my problem. It stayed like that for 7 hours and then cooled down afterwards, until now it's not working.
So yeah, if it won't turn on because it overheated or  for some other reasons, Can it be replaced? Will there be any payments?

We are fellow users here on these forums, you're not talking to iTunes Support nor Apple.
Have you tried a soft-reset to see if that gets it to boot up ? Press and hold both the sleep and home buttons for about 10 to 15 seconds, after which the Apple logo will hopefully appear - you won't lose any content, it's the iPad equivalent of a reboot.
If not then whether you might need to pay will depend upon what the store says and whether they think that it's covered by the warranty. Does the iPad have signs of damage anywhere on it e.g. dents ? Only the store will be able to tell you whether it's covered or not.

my lightning connector suddenly heated up and later i discover it wasnt charging my ipad mini already.
When i looked on the lightning connector tip, it is slightly bent
COuld i ask for a replacement for this one, my warranty is still valid.

All accessories are covered within the warranty of the device

    > only if your device is still within its warranty period

  • My ipad mini was just replaced , any way to recover photos?

I bought an ipad mini for my wife. For some unknown reason it simply went bad. Apple just sent a replacement. Needless to say all her photos are gone. My ipad is backed up on my iMac , I thought hers was too through iCloud. I can't locate her mini on the iMac. Did my lack of knowledge cost her all her pics or can they be found somewhere? Thanks!!

First make sure the replacement iPad is running the same or higher version of iOS as the old one.  (If you aren't sure what version of iOS it's running you can check by going to Settings>General>About>Version.)  If it isn't, you'll need to update it first.  Then, to restore the iCloud backup you need to start by erasing the iPad Mini.  If you have any newer data on it that is not contained in the backup you'll need to save that first.  When you're ready, go to Settings>General>Reset, tap Erase All Content and Settings, then go through the setup screens on the iPad Mini and when given the option, choose Restore from iCloud Backup and follow the prompts, choosing the backup of the old iPad Mini to restore from.
Be sure the iPad Mini is connected to wifi and your charger while it is restoring the backup.

  • IPad mini home button replacement cost?

I'm out of warranty , how much is the cost to change the home button on an iPad mini and the time it takes to repair

I would assume that the Home button replacement would fall under Apple's fixed repair rate of $199 (out of warranty)
    https://www.apple.com/support/ipad/repair/other/
In the interim of replacing your Home button, you can use AssistiveTouch which floats a virtual button on-screen which can mimic all hardware buttons on the device, including the Home button.
I personally use AssistiveTouch all the time, just to prevent wear and tear on my Home button...I seldom use the actual hardware Home button...you can even do a device reset (press & hold both Home and Sleep/Wake buttons for ~15 seconds) using the AssistiveTouch button if your Home button is bad (but not if your Sleep/Wake button is bad).
    Settings>General>Accessibility>AssistiveTouch: turn ON
*Note* If you power off the device using the AssistiveTouch panel (tap the on-screen AssistiveTouch button, Device>Lock Screen (tap and hold to power off)), you will NOT be able to power on the device if your Sleep/Wake (power) button is not functioning. You will need to connect the powered off device either to a PC's USB port or an external charger to power the device back on.

  • Is iOS 7.0.4 worth installing on iPad Mini WiFi (1st Gen)?

I've heard mixed responses with some people saying it works great and others saying that their batteries were nuked following the update. Has any of the issues been fixed from the initial version? Is it worth taking the plunge or should I wait? I mainly read books on the Kindle app and watch movies. The main reason I bought the iPad Mini in the first place was for the battery life so would appreciate the input. Thanks.

Okay thanks guys, I think I'll go ahead and do it then. Strange so many have reported problems, maybe they messed something up

  • If I managed to replace my iPad Mini with Out-Of-Warranty Service, what exactly am I getting?

Ok, original iPad Mini, 32 GB, iOS 8.1.2
So, long story short, my iPad Mini's screen is pretty much cracked. I read that I could get a replacement that will be "new or equivalent to new in both performance and reliability." I read that thinking that I'll get the iPad Mini 3 if I hand in my iPad Mini for service. Am I right? If I am, I have one lingering concern: since my iPad Mini is the 32 GB model, which the iPad Mini 3 doesn't come in, does that mean that I'll have to downgrade to 16 GB? Or upgrade to 64 GB? Or maybe I can only get the iPad Mini Retina since that one does have a 32 GB model. Not that it bothers me too much if I get a Retina, or heck, the original (as long as I don't have to downgrade to 16 GB) but it would be nice if someone could clarify this for me before I send the iPad in.
Also, I'm new here, I have no idea where else this post can go.

You will get a refurbished iPad Mini, 32GB service replacement unit just like you have now.

  • Ipad mini with broken digitizer - can it be backed up if passcode cannot be entered?

    Hello,
I'm not sure if i entered the right category, I have searched around for questions similar to this but have not been able to find a thread that answers my question. My ipad mini is 1st generation, 4G compatible, 16gb. iOS 7 (as specific as i can get).
I dropped the iPad which shattered the digitizer which means I am unable to to type in the passcode in order to back it up on iTunes. The screen was left undamaged. I have a backup from a week or two before it was dropped but I want to be able to retrieve the photos and garageband files that were made past that point. I am wondering if there is any way of backing up the iPad without a passcode or somehow the passcode could be entered on my computer, ect.
I am planning on bringing the iPad to get the digitizer replaced, but to be on the safe side I would like to have a backup just in case a mistake is made during the repair or if a storage dump is unavoidable.
    Thank you

You could try attaching a bluetooth keyboard to your ipad and typing in the passcode.  This assume you have enabled bluetooth on the ipad before.

  • IPad Mini Retina - unrecognized apple id email account pop up

I recently purchased a brand new iPad Mini Retina to replace a previous iPad Mini.  During the initial installation process, I was prompted to enter my Apple ID.  The pop was pre-populated with another person's email id.  At first, I assumed this was just a sample id to help new Apple device owners to get started.  However, this same id has been showing up on other times when I tried to purchase or install a new iPad app on this new device.  Lately, from time to time, the Apple id login would pop up with this same email id prompting me for a password even if I'm not purchasing or installing anything.  With my curiosity aroused, I sent an email to this address and explained my reason for my inquiry.  The person did respond and acknowledged my question but informed me that he had not owned an iPad mini, however, did not verify if he has ever owned an Apple device or purchased from the Apple store.  My only conclusion at this point is that perhaps the device shipped to me as a refurbished item?  Would you expect that if you Reset a device any previously entered Apple ID would be wiped out?  I purchased my device from a reputable Mac dealer and is supposed to be a brand new device.  If I can determine this is a refurb, then I would like to return it for a refund or a new device.
I would appreciate any advice, suggestions, ideas, or comments.
Thanks and Happy New Year to All!
    Dan

You can see the model number in Settings>General>About>Model. The model number has a two-letter code, a number and some more letters. The last part stands for the country/region. The first letter can be "F" (refurbished), "M" (normal retail), or "P" (personalized / engraved). For example MC605B is the model MC605 and B is for the region. (The model number is also on the box.)
Take the iPad back to the store.

  • IPad mini backlight issues after digitizer replacement

I recently replaced the digitizer on my 1st gen iPad mini, and after reassembly, I'm havering issues with the backlight. Please have a look at my photo and let me know what the issue may be.
    Thanks a lot,
    Dave

I guess I should have mentioned before that this is my second time replacing it. The first time there was a faulty digitizer and the home button wouldn't work. But the touch screen DID work. Now its flipped, my second time around fixing it the home button works fine and the touchscreen is unresponsive. I thought it might have some damage from being dropped but the touch screen worked before. So I'm not sure if it's something I'm doing wrong or if its something i can fix. Thanks
