IPad, recently updated to 5.0.1, now keeps jumping out of Safari to the icon screen

I just recently updated my iPad to software version 5.0.1 and ever since it periodically jumps out of a Safari page to an icon screen. Very frustrating!. When I synced it it also copied two copies of some videos which filled the iPad storage. I thought the full storage might have had someting to do with it but the problem continues after deleting the duplicate videos. I currently have 5.2 GB free space (28.5 GB used). When I updated the iPad software I also took the option of backing up to the iCloud.  The initial iCloud storage is now getting close to full.

Try a few things:
First, try double tapping the home button. You should see a row of apps at the bottom; these are your recenty opened apps. Hold your finger down on any of the icons until they start to shake, and a red minus() appears. Tap the red minus for each app. This will close the app, not delete it. If you have too many apps open, this can cause crashes.
