IPad to AppleTV sound only - built in Video App

I used to be able to airplay from my ipad to my appletv but now only sound plays, no video. I have made sure my iPad and AppleTV (latest version) are all running up to date software.
I am trying to play via the built in Video app on the iPad , not a third party app.
This used to work.
How can I get it working again. I've also tried restarting the Apple TV and the iPad multiple times - didn't help

My router is an Airport Extreme. It's a Walking Dead Episode I bought on iTunes.
I worked at Apple in Core OS doing Mac OS X kernel development for 21 years so I know something about Apple products. This is some kind of bug and not ''user error''
I can occasionally get it to play a video by constantly trying over and over again and also restarting my ipad and appletv - there is no rhyme or reason as to when it will actually play and episode. And then the next time I try it will just do the sound again.
This did not used to happen - probably 2-3 months ago it would play 100% of the time

Safari on Macbook or other PCs does not support Airplay to AppleTV. Some people have added this support using Safari extension called ClickToPlugin but it only works for appleTV Ver 4.3 or older.
It would be a very useful addition to Safari. Granted that YouTube and other video sites are supported directly on the appleTV but searching is so much easier on the PC.
I wish appleTV or Safari product manager or a developer sees this and can add support for this to Safari natively. It will surely help for better adoption of both Safari and appleTV !

IPad Built-in Video App

I recently downloaded a bunch of cartoons for my son to watch on our roads trip. Unfortunately, I couldn't find a way to setup continuous playback or repeat. So, needless to say, we had to stop ever hour or so to play another video one by one. Anyone know how to do this?

As far as I know, the functionality does not exist in iOS 5. I have no clue if you will be able to do this in iOS 6, but we will know after Wednesday when iOS is released.

Sound off and audio/video apps blocked

For a few days I have a very weird problem. After a few hours of using the computer (4-5, I leave it on when I go to work so I can stream my music), everything related to sound is dead.
For example, mpd dies without any errors written in the error log. If I try to restart it doesn't work. It just hangs with no errors. Also, if I try to open a flash video in any browser, the browser just hangs on with no errors. I even tried to open amarok from the shell and just hangs with no errors.
The problem disappears after I reboot the computer, so I think it's something related to the sound driver. I have a Creative Audigy SE card.
I'd like to be more explicit, but I don't know what and where to look for logs. Maybe next time it happens I'll put here some logs if someone gave me a hint.

Don't seem like a hardware failure to me (at least little probable). I'm experiencing the same problem.
As long as I can remember I've got this one at one point in the past too, but back then I haven't got much time to investigate and after some updates all have sorted out itself.
I also don't think it's a client problem since the hang happens with both mpc and sonata on my setup. Also mdp (runned as --verbose --no-daemon --stdout) says:

Also I've found this bug on mpd's mantis: http://www.musicpd.org/mantis/view.php?id=1479. So it's cross-distro and cross-hardware since I've got:

and experienced it previously on some via and cmi. I hope someone will come with solution soon. I mean—it's getting bad on my listening addiction .

IPad mini video app stops responding when playing videos from shared iTunes library

So when I watch a shared video using the Ios 6 built in Video app, the app stops responding to touch.
Details:
iPad mini running IOS 6 built in video app.
OS X 10.7.5 sharing iTunes library using home sharing
ITunes version 11.0.1
I have seen the same stay problem through upgrades of ios and iTunes when watching from iPad mini. Weird thing is doesn't happen on ipad3, ipad2, or iPhone 4.
Any ideas?

No "TV shows" tab in iPad videos app

this was in a thread a while ago, but i never got a definitive answer. i have a handful of video files that are tagged as "TV show" in iTunes on my mac. to be clear, they are in the TV Shows category in the iTunes library, NOT movies. i have itunes set to automatically sync unwatched episodes of TV shown onto my iPad, which it does succesfully - sort of. of course, to watch these on my iPad i should use the built-in Videos app. the problem is, videos will not show the tv shows that i have synced. and it's even worse than that – there's not even a "TV Shows" tab at the top of the screen when i launch the videos app. it's just plain not there: the tabs are Movies and Shared, and that's it.
before you ask if i actually synced the tv shows, they are most definitely on my iPad, and in fact i CAN watch them, but to do so i have to do a search for the title of the show. when the title pops up in search results, i select it and the video plays just fine. so its not the end of the world, but it's annoying. i want to be able to browse the shows i have on there rather than search for them, and i can't. please help.

i think i have the answer
first the TV shows should be seen as tv shows in your itunes library on mac/pc
to do this you have to edit the properties of the file by right clicking on the file and choosing "more info".
choose the "option" tab under the more info window. now select the media kind as "TV Show" .

I wanted to point out the sound works fine through the headphones in all apps. But, without headphones i.e. with the ipad speakers, the sound only works in 1 app viz. "Talking Dino" by "Banana app".
Anyone faced this strange issue? Is it really possible that sound can only work in 1 app?
BTW, The charger port is working fine now with an ipad stand (I got one locally by ipega) and the ipad home button is working again. Must be my charging cable going old.

Is it possible to play music videos on the Music App of my iPad 2? or it's only possible in the Video App?

Is it possible to play music videos on the Music App of the iPad 2? Or create a playlist for the Video App? or sort the music videos by artist, genre, album, etc.?

I have two music videos on my iPad and they don't even show up in the Music App - only in the Videos App so I have to conclude that you can only play them in the Videos App.
I could be wrong - heaven knows it won't be the first time - but I see no way to play it in the Music App.

IPad3 stopped some sounds only when muted

For some reason, my new iPad stopped working for sounds only on some video playback, others work. alarm app doesn't work. This is with sounds muted, which is how I have always used. This is a recent change. Some video will start with a blurb of sound, then go quiet

Try Googling about your problem, if no solution comes up go to the Genius bar if you're residing in the US. If you aren't in the US go to the nearest Apple Store.

IPad 2 isn't loading videos app correctly

I have recently uploaded a couple seasons worth of TV shows onto my iPad 2, however whenever I open the videos app it always goes to a particular episode.
The other issue is that I can't press the DONE button without it freezing the app, I can't go and bring up the list of other episodes to watch...
does anyone have any ideas to fix it?

The only thing I can think of is that particular movie file may be corrupt. But I don't know how you can delete it without your computer if the app itself will not let you navigate around.
If you can get that file deleted, this may clear up the problem, but you may not be able to without your computer....

Downloaded movies on iPad are not showing in video app

I downloaded videos on my iPad straight from the iTunes Store. They show up a being downloaded, I see the status bar and time estimate, the video processes and then it disappears. When I click on the videos app there are no videos available for me to watch and it just redirects me to the iTunes Store.
Things I have tried:
Restarting my iPad
Closing out of iTunes and the video app via multitasking
Going into iTunes and clicking on purchased videos and downloading the video again
Checking if there are any restrictions placed on my device
I subscribe to iTunes Match and iCloud storage so I turned them on and off without any resolution
Any help or guidance would be much appreciated!
I just received the new iPad as a gift and am regretting selling my original iPad that never gave me any problems like this...

Quit the Videos app completely and then go back and look again.
Go to the home screen first by tapping the home button. Double tap the home button and the recents tray will appear with all of your recent apps displayed at the bottom. Tap and hold down on any app icon until it begins to wiggle. Tap the minus sign in the upper left corner of the app that you want to close. Tap the home button or anywhere above the task bar.
Or try this, if that didn't work.
Swipe to the right from your first home screen to get to the iPad Spotlight search. Type in the name of any of your movies in the field at the top. When the movie appears in the search - tap on it and it should start to play. Let it play for a minute or so - hit done - go back to videos app and see if all is OK.

Movies not appearing in video app ios7

Under iOS6, movies not purchased via iTunes would appear in content list and could be played. Under
iOS7, the same movie appears in the "on my phone" list in iTunes, takes space on my phone (iPhone4 running 7.02),

Does the count in Settings > General > About > Videos indicate that they are on the iPad ?
Have you tried closing the Videos app completely and seeing if they show when you re-open it ? From the home screen (i.e. not with Videos 'open' on-screen) double-click the home button to bring up the taskbar, then press and hold any of the apps on the taskbar for a couple of seconds or so until they start shaking, then press the '-' in the top left of the Videos app to close it, and touch any part of the screen above the taskbar so as to stop the shaking and close the taskbar.
If that doesn't work then you could try a reset : press and hold both the sleep and home buttons for about 10 to 15 seconds (ignore the red slider), after which the Apple logo should appear - you won't lose any content, it's the iPad equivalent of a reboot.

My build in videos app on my ipod touch has somehow been hidden or removed is there a way to get it back without having to restore my whole ipod?

Please help yesterday a friend of mine's younger 2 year old sister got a hold of my ipod and somehow made my built in video app disappear and I have no idea how to get it back and the only thing I know to do is to restore my ipod which is the last thing I want to do because I hate having to start over so does anyone have any other options I can try or simply know how I get it back?

The Video app in OS7 update doesn't display file names.

The Video app in OS7 doesn't display file names under the image.
How can I identify my video files without having to open each file to access the file name.
Is there something I am missing or is this just an omission in the OS7 upgrade.
I am a music teacher and this lack of file names makes the app virtually useless for use in the classroom.

Agreed. This has been a problem with TV Shows in the Videos app since forever, but at least it used to put the name under Movies. Now instead fixing it for TV Shows in iOS 7 they've done the opposite and made Movies fail the same way as TV Shows always have!
Apparently it still lists the title for Home Videos, so the best work around for now is probably to reclassify all your Movies as Home Videos. Sigh.
Apple's Videos app development team seem to be unaware that iTunes can store and play movies and TV shows that don't come from the iTunes Store, videos that don't have covers, and that need to display the names and other info from iTunes for them. They also seem to not understand that the default grid view for videos is totally inadequate for users with scores or hundreds of movies and TV shows that they home share to their iPads and iPhones from iTunes. The Videos app needs a list view at least, as well as a grid view.
All they have to do is look at how the Apple TV handles the same files and meta-data from iTunes and provide something similar for the iPad and iPhone. Why after all these years they still don't get that I have no idea.

Uploading Videos to Video App

Is there a way to upload "homemade" videos to the video app without being connected to iTunes or a computer? In other words if I have a video I’ve created and want other iPad users to add it to their Video app - without wiping out the videos already living on the Video app. Is there a way to send them the video (via email, Dropbox, etc) so they can "open in" the video app and save it to their library of videos?
This works with Keynote presentations and PDF's where you can add the new files to the library in Keynote an iBooks. From what I can tell there is no way to get the same outcome with videos.

apple didn't make the facebook app, contact the developer of the that app if you are having issues with it.
