IPad to select strongest wifi network automatically

At home I have got two wifi networks. Is it possible to set up my iPad in such a way that it automatically jumps to the strangest wifi network when I walk through the house or garden?

No

    why can't I select preferred wifi networks

    I don't know how to block the other wireless access points to show on the list, but from what you said, you want to let it connect to one of your preferred network whenever one is available, connect it automatically.
    before you change anything, let run the following command in Terminal to show your Mac current settings:
    /System/Library/PrivateFrameworks/Apple80211.framework/Versions/A/Resources/airp ort en1 prefs
    copy what it returned.
    mine returned:
    AirPort preferences for en1:
    DisconnectOnLogout=NO
    JoinMode=Preferred
    JoinModeFallback=Prompt
    RememberRecentNetworks=YES
    RequireAdminIBSS=NO
    RequireAdminNetworkChange=YES
    RequireAdminPowerToggle=YES
    WoWEnabled=NO
    That's the default behaviour of OS X, we don't care for what reason it was changed on your Mac. Lets reset it.
    in Terminal, run the following command:
    sudo /System/Library/PrivateFrameworks/Apple80211.framework/Versions/A/Resources/air port en1 prefs JoinMode=Preferred JoinModeFallback=Prompt RememberRecentNetworks=YES
    it may ask you to put admin password, and do so, press enter to continue.
    Explain a little bit.
    The JoinMode=Preferred means, it will connect your preferred network when it's available.
    JoinModeFallback=Prompt: if no preferred network around, it will prompt you to choose. if you want you can select other options:
         JoinOpen
         KeepLooking
         DoNothing
    RememberRecentNetworks=YES: it will remember whatever network it joined before, put it in your preferred network. If you want, set it to No.
    you can get the details of airport command by run:
    /System/Library/PrivateFrameworks/Apple80211.framework/Versions/A/Resources/airp ort
    Hope this help.

  • How do i stop ipad from joining other wifi networks

    My ipad keeps joining my neighbors unlocked guest wifi network. How can i prevent this from happening. Ipad3 with ios6.

    Wow, my question was answered in 3 minutes. Of course it took me longer to resolve it, but your answer was clear, correct and succinct. Thanks a bunch.

  • Why my Ipad don't detect WIFI networks?

    In the WIFI Settings options, I can't turn WIFI on because the option is never kept. No WIFI networks are detected. What's the problem?
    Thanks for your help.

    First try resetting your iPad: press and hold the Home + sleep/wake buttons until the Apple logo appears.
    Now follow these Wi-Fi troubleshooting steps:

  • Ipad seldom connects with wifi network

    14 month old ipad2 worked for almost a year. Lately, it just won't connect to my home wifi network unless I walk it upstairs. I used the ipad in the precisely same location as I use a Kindle Fire and a Dell Laptop, neither of which has ever failed to connect. EVER!. The 'genious' at Apple in San Diego says there is nothing wrong with it. Really?
    Obviously, something has changed, and it also obviously is not my network. So, how do I turn this $800 paper weight back into an ipad?

  • Alert with TableView: (eg: select a wifi network)

    Can someone please point me in the right direction of implementing an alert window containing a table view?
    The only example I can think of is when you open Safari (without a known WiFi network). This shows an alert window containing a list of available WiFi networks. You can scroll and select one.
    Thanks

    Hi,
    In order to see what i'm talking about do the following:
    1) Make sure you have a WiFi Connection
    2) Go into WiFi and click the little blue icon next to your connection
    3) Select "forget this network"
    4) You should now have lost your WiFi connection
    5) Make sure your GPRS connection isn't active (modify username / password etc)
    6) Open Safari and it should struggle to load the page
    7) It will then display an Alert Window containing a scrollable table view where you can choose a WiFi network to connect too.
    This is what i'm trying to achieve.
    Thanks

  • Ipad doesn't reconize wifi networks

    My ipad is having trouble reconizing wifi networks

    Like Jim said, if the wi-fi network doesn't have enough signal strength it won't be displayed.  Are the other people using iOS devices?  If iOS devices are seeing and connecting to the networks and you are not, the troubleshooting basics to follow are restart/reset/restore, in addition you'd want to reset the network settings.  If those things don't work, then a trip to the Genius bar would be appropriate.

  • My iPad connects to home wifi network, but won't acces Internet

    I have tried everything and sometimes during the day it connects and updates apps but when I want to use it any app conects to internet...
    I have restarted the network several times, every time it connects to router but not to Internet...

  • IPad can't recognize wifi networks

    Recently purchased an iPad 2. On 3 occasions it has been able to see my home network, has connected and worked fine for a few minutes, then disconnects and can't see the network. All gaming devices, multimedia devices and android devices in my home have no problem seeing at least 14 available networks in the surrounding neighborhood. The iPad has seen only mine, which I have had to manually enter...it has seen no other available networks.
    I registered an Apple ID, Bluetooth works, have not yet connected to Verizon.
    how do I get this iPad to recognize available networks and stay connected once it has recognized the network?

    I realise that you've stated all your other devices are working ok, but have you tried rebooting your router to rule this out as an issue? I had a similar issue with my Netgear router in that my iPad would lose connection to it, yet my Xbox 360 would still be connected, but rebooting the router did the trick.
    If you have tried this and still aren't having any luck try an iPad reset. With the iPad powered on hold down the Sleep/Wake & Home buttons until you see the Apple logo, then try reconnecting again.
    Regards,
    Steve

  • HT1695 My iPhone 5 does not go on my home wifi network automatically, what settings do I need or what is the problem?

    I thought once I first used my home wifi and entered my security code, it would connect automatically whenever I returned home.

    Have you reset the phone by holding the home and off button down until the apple symbol comes up? Then if that doesnt work, you need to restore your phone in itunes first from your backup, then if still not, then fron as new.

  • Cannot activate up my iPad Air on a wifi network. Do not have access to a computer for iTunes. How can I activate it?

    I cannot activate my iPad Air over wifi. I do not have access to a computer for itunes. How do I set it up?

    What happens when you try to activate the iPad using wifi?
    If there is an error message, what is the exact complete wording of
    the error message.
    You need to provide more details before some one can offer a solution.

  • Can there be a hardware issue on the iPad that causes you to unable to join wifi networks or only if you are within 5 feet of routers?

    I used to be able to connect my iPad to my house wifi network walking all over my house then one day it stopped.  When i tried to connect to my network I would get an message saying "Unable to Join network".  I found that if i was within 5 feet of my router it would connect and work just fine.  At the same time I tried it at multiple other networks that I have before (girlfriends and other friends houses) and could not connect with same issue.  Only place I can connect is my work wifi.
    Can connect to wifi with my iPhone with no issues
    I have reset my network connections
    Reset my house router

    Can someone help me? My iPad stopped discovering my HP AirPrint printer. So I cant print at all with no printer to slect. Both printer and iPad are on same WiFi network and connected.

    Thanks so much pjl1213. I was struggling with the same issue and spent hours re-booting my ipad, iphone and the printer. And of course after re-booting the Actiontec Router everything was fine. Best to cover EVERYTHING in the re-boot.
    Thanks again.
