IPhone 4 does strange things

one of my phones keeps doing strange things. First the bluetooth stops working (even when settings are on), then Find My iPhone then stops working. iPhone shuts down for no reason during usage, etc. the list can go on. I have rebooted, updated, etc. to no changes. Ideas????

My imac is doing strange things:
-delaying between users: when closing session it goes to blue, then takes a while to appear users signin box, and then wont recognize mouse command to enter until a couple of minutes later... then everything seems alright until....
-it gets stuck between things, the rainbow wheel appears and its just delays there forever....
-and every now and then the mouse starts flickering and bouncing wildly onscreen.
I ran the appel hardware test and it detected an error:

WZZZ answered about where to get iStat. And do check the SMART status. If it is an overheating problem due to a fan or logic board problem, your hard drive is possibly cooking itself to death. If so it isn't a faulty hard drive even though the hard drive might fail. So assuming it's a temperature problem, even if you are able to repair things on the disk with software, that is working on symptoms, not causes. I could be wrong however.
RE: AppleCare: Your iMac came with one year of AppleCare (Apple's warranty program), but within the first year you can buy 2 more years. You have to extend by the one year anniversary of purchase of the computer. Your 10,1 is too old to still be in the first year, and since you asked what it was, I'm sure you don't have it. Bottom line meaning is that whatever this problem turns out to be, you'll have to pay for it. Unless there is something like this. It is for 2011 iMacs with certain Seagate drives. You can put in your serial number for fun, but it looks like yours is too old. Lastly, some people have had Apple help them anyway if it is just out of warranty, but many have not. Your machine is one of these. Type in 10,1 in the search box. Is there an Apple Store near you? Just b/c it's out of warranty doesn't mean you shouldn't have it looked at by Apple. But no one here can say at all what Apple will or will not do.

WRT54G ver.7 does strange things

hello everybody!
i've bought a WRT54-G (ver.7) router about 2 years before, but it does strange things
1. sometimes i can't see the admin interface. i type 192.168.1.1, give
password, but i can only get a white, blank page without any text. when this
happens, just a router & modem restart or reset can help.I use the network
every day, through weeks...but it happens in about a few days. why does it
do it? i need it everytime!
2. three computers connected to the router, 2 with UTP cables, 1 via WiFi.
If the computer with wifi is working and one of the "UTP computers" too,
then the 3rd computer (with UTP) only see limited connectivity, but 2 dhcps
are enabled in the router settings, with 2 static DNS..I use WEP2 security
to my wirless connectivity, and only just my notebook's MAC address is
enabled to use the network. my router's password is not default, so nobody
can steal my bandwidth.
i can't find newer firmware verison than ver. 7.00.4..i've bought it with this version
i don't use any firewalls, windows firewall is disabled too

Have you tried to reset your Router and Re-configure all the settings on your router back again. If not please do it now, Press and hold the reset button for 60 seconds...Release the reset button...Unplug the power cable from your router, wait for 60 seconds and re-connect the power cable...Now re-configure your router.....

K7N420Pro memory upgrade doing strange things

i just recently upgraded from 2x256 in slots 1/3 to 2x512 in the same slots. memory is at a low now (US$75 per 512), so i thought might as well. both before and after rams are kingston made, and certified on the nvidia website. the only difference is that the 256s were USA manufactured, and the 512s were taiwan made. both rams non-ECC.
since changing memory i've experienced 'strange things'. sometimes windows does things i never intended. it created a shortcut by itself, right before my eyes, and i swear google did a search for some gibberish phrase without my intervention. last night i experienced my first win xp blue screen (i thought the blue screen was obsolete?!?). can't remembered what exactly it said, but i believe to be some memory location conflict.
my BIOS is set to high performance and i din't change anything before and after upgrade. i din't activate any shadowing or chaching in memory that i'm aware of. auto precharge on, cl 2.5 as rated by my ram.
if anyone can offer advice please do!

well since i last posted, i removed and reinserted my ram into their slots as i had a feeling i din't do it properly the last time (gfx card got in the way). so far no strange glitches, keeping my fingers crossed.

My PowerMac G5 started doing strange things today

My G5 started doing some strange things this afternoon. i thought it was a sofware problem with one of my programs and decided to reboot. When i tried to restart the system it started to reboot, but then stopped. i tried several times with differing results. One time i got the white start-up scrdeen, but got no further. Another time i got the chime, but nothing else. i then noticed a liquid seeping from the bottom of the case. This doesn't appear to be water as it has a very slightly "oily" consistency. i have definitely not spilt anything anywhere near the G5. Very odd. Anyone know what is going on and can it be fixed?

I suspect that you have given me my answer as it is still leaking, although I do now have it up and running, for the time being! I hadn't realised that mine effectively had an in-built airconditioner, that could and would likely go wrong!
I have been planning to replace my G5 for some time now and I guess that I will now have to bite the mighty bullet. In many ways this is long overdue, given all the PowerPC / Intel issues that I have with up-grading much of the software I require as a photographer.
In the meantime I am ensuring that my backups are up to date, whilst it still has some life. I am also creating a full backup of my applications disk so that I can transfer stuff to a new machine without having to reload/ rundown some of my more esoteric apps. Luckily all my data is backed up twice daily.
One further question if I may, do the current twelve core Mac Pro's use this type of cooling system?

I mac doing strange things

imac, 20", running 10.5.8 Using any mouse (not mouse specific)
There have been some strange things happening to the imac lately.
Some examples:
-in any browser (camino, safari) in Google maps for instance, placing the mouse curser in a map window, it'll zoom right down to the closest level. When I try zooming out, it zipps right back in.
-in Aperture, while viewing a full screen photo and (using the keyboard) hitting the next arrow, it'll flay though ALL the photos instead of just the next one.
-in Garage band, when trying to move (drag) a track in the timeline, it shoots back to wherever it wants to.
-in Simms 2, the pointer disappears, menu bar flashes on and off, and the main view window spins (looking at sky, ground, up, down left right) all on it's own.
This issue doesn't seem to be application specific, and I've tried different mice. I've run disk repair (and permissions etc) and run FSCK. will shut down and/or restart and the problem may be gone for a few hours, but keeps coming back. The imac is backed up with time machine.
Any suggestions?
Should I erase the drive and restore from Time Machine?
(I've resisted going to Snow Leopard because I'm not sure Simms2 works with it)

I would try resetting your computer's PRAM and running a Safe Boot. To do so, boot your machine with the Shift key held down. See this support document for more information.
Since you're running 10.5, download and run the 10.5.8 Combo Updater. It will re-apply any system patches needed, and may fix whatever is going in with your zooming issues.

Ever since i did the IOS 7 my Iphone has been doing strange things it didn't do before, why is that?

I work for a business where were using multiple iphones and since we all did our software update to the IOS 7 our phones have all been playing up - freezing when clicking on apps, when you answer a call the new keypads very touchy and hangs up all the time, dials number on its own, the sound randomly stops working, and sound in general is very sketchy. Sounds like were in a car when were talking to someone. and a few other little things.
Is this happening to anyone else? Will another update be coming out to fix these little bugs or could it be all our phones themselves?

There are various issues that Apple is continue to work on. You are running the 7.02 release, so you have been updated twice since the intiital release. 7.03 was just released earlier today, and several fixes have been added to that release.
Hang in there. It appears that Apple is diligently working on addressing the various issues that have been reported. Remember, this is a major iOS change. It is the first major change to the iOS platform since it was originally released with the iPhone 1, so it's going to go through some growing pains....

Time Machine doing strange things

Hi folks,
So I recently upgraded my hard drive, and restored from my Time Machine backup and everything came back just as it was, which was great. However, now I am having some serious Time Machine issues. It deleted all of my old backups, which I understand happens when you restore? That is kind of annoying, but whatever, I can live with it.
However, what's really strange is that now it tries to backup, and it's telling me it needs 270 GB and I only have 163 GB available. But there is already one backup on there, so I'm not sure why it thinks it needs to start from scratch basically (at least I think that's what it's doing, as my account only has 235 GB of used space total). And what's really strange is that when I check out the space on my Time Machine hard drive, when I click "Get Info" on the backups folder, it says that it's 130 GB, but when I scan the drive with DaisyDisk, it tells me that it's over 200 GB, but not hidden or anything, and I just cannot figure out where all that extra space that is being taken up is.
So what I'm actually considering doing is just deleting the backup folder all together (although I don't know if this will get rid of just the 130 GB that it says it is, or all of it), and letting Time Machine start over. Is that a good or bad idea? Any ideas as to what the heck is going on? Any thoughts would be much appreciated.

That means it's actually trying to back up about 225 GB (it adds about 20% for workspace), so yes, that's a full backup (less the things it skips, such as system work files, most caches and logs, trash, etc.).

Believe Get Info. Time Machine backups have an unusual structure that cause many apps to count things more than once. See Hard Links in How Time Machine works its Magic for details.

Yes, but don't delete it (emptying the trash will take a very long time and may cause other troubles). Erase it with Disk Utility -- that will just take a few moments.
What's happened is, Time Machine is treating your disk as a new one (it shouldn't on Snow Leoaprd, but sometimes it does). So it deleted all but the last backup of the "old" one, trying to make room.
It sounds like your TM drive may be a bit too small. Usually, it needs at least twice the space of the data it's backing-up. See #1 in Time Machine - Frequently Asked Questions. You might want to put a larger one on your Christmas list.
Then you can use the old one for "secondary" backups. See #27 in that same link for some suggestions.

Launchpad doing strange things

When I scroll to the right to access page 2 in launch pad, it goes across to the page but then seems to recoil back to page 1 when I let go the mouse. Anybody got any suggestions. It has only recently started doing this.

Please read this whole message before doing anything. This procedure is a test, not a solution. Don’t be disappointed when you find that nothing has changed after you complete it. Step 1 The purpose of this step is to determine whether the problem is localized to your user account. Enable guest logins* and log in as Guest. For instructions, launch the System Preferences application, select Help from the menu bar, and enter “Set up guest users” (without the quotes) in the search box. Don't use the Safari-only “Guest User” login created by “Find My Mac.” While logged in as Guest, you won’t have access to any of your personal files or settings. Applications will behave as if you were running them for the first time. Don’t be alarmed by this; it’s normal. If you need any passwords or other personal data in order to complete the test, memorize, print, or write them down before you begin. Test while logged in as Guest. Same problem? After testing, log out of the guest account and, in your own account, disable it if you wish. Any files you created in the guest account will be deleted automatically when you log out of it. *Note: If you’ve activated “Find My Mac” or FileVault, then you can’t enable the Guest account. The “Guest User” login created by “Find My Mac” is not the same. Create a new account in which to test, and delete it, including its home folder, after testing. Step 2 The purpose of this step is to determine whether the problem is caused by third-party system modifications that load automatically at startup or login. Disconnect all wired peripherals except those needed for the test, and remove all aftermarket expansion cards. Boot in safe mode* and log in to the account with the problem. The instructions provided by Apple are as follows:
Shut down your computer, wait 30 seconds, and then hold down the shift key while pressing the power button.
When you see the gray Apple logo, release the shift key.
If you are prompted to log in, type your password, and then hold down the shift key again as you click Log in.
Safe mode is much slower to boot and run than normal, and some things won’t work at all, including wireless networking on certain Macs.
The login screen appears even if you usually log in automatically. You must know your login password in order to log in. If you’ve forgotten the password, you will need to reset it before you begin.
*Note: If FileVault is enabled, or if a firmware password is set, or if the boot volume is a software RAID, you can’t boot in safe mode.
Test while in safe mode. Same problem?
After testing, reboot as usual (i.e., not in safe mode) and verify that you still have the problem. Post the results of steps 1 and 2.

The dock in Maverick is doing strange things to word and excel files

For years (and Mac operating systems), I have kept Microsoft word and excel documents on my doc. I use these documents frequently...click on the file icon in the dock, it opens, I edit and save. Click on the icon again and the saved document opens. so simple.
Since upgrading, I click on the icon, the file opens with a number following the file name (version number I assume) but before docx or xlsx. I edit and save, but get a "save as" box. Now I have to edit the file's name, find the original and replace the original with the new version. Not so simple.
Since I open and close my daily billing log many times a day, this has slowed me down (and irritated me).
I have had no other problems with my Maverick installation and these files are in Word and Excel 2008. This does not happen to powerpoint or any other file I tried so far.
Any suggestions on how to solve this?

Your Mac will generate a new .plist file automatically after restart.
Deleting the .plist file shouldn't delete any app icons from the dock.
Check the startup disk just in case.
Launch Disk Utility located in HD > Applications > Utilities
Select the startup disk on the left then select the First Aid tab.
Click: Verify Disk (not Verify Disk Permissions)
If DU reports errors, restart your Mac while holding down the Command + R keys.
From there you can access the built-in utilities to repair the disk using OS X Recovery

Print front panel does strange things

Hi everyone,
I am having some difficulty in printing the front panel of a vi.
It seems to print the panel as it appears when the vi starts, and not as
how it appears at the end of the vi's execution. This is a problem because
new data is loaded into graphs during the execution and this is what I'm
interested in printing.
The vi that does the printing currently doesn't get shown when it runs.
Any suggestions very much appreciated.

I think I have a solution for you.
You can press print screen on your keyboard, but make sure that you don't
have any windows open that could get in the way of your Panel.
Then you can import ( paste ) the picture into for ex. "Paint Shop" and
manipulate the picture there.
I hope this will help you print out your VI.

Open with... on LabVIEW files doing strange things

I have LabVIEW 2010-2012 installed. I am using Windows 7 32 bit. If I right click a VI and go to open with... it always shows 2010, and will either show 2011 or 2012 depending on which I had open last. If it shows 2010 and 2011, but I go manually open 2012 from the start menu, then when I right click a *.vi file and select open with... it shows 2010 and 2012 instead. Now, if it's showing 2010 and 2011 and I choose open with, choose default program... and select LabVIEW 2012, nothing happens. What I've had to do in this case is open 2012 then choose file-> open... and browse to the VI. Has anyone had this problem or does anyone have suggestions? I think I've had this issue the whole time 2012 has been installed, it's just now I've gotten to the point where I'm sick of dealing with it

IPhoto is doing strange things

After picking new pictures and placing them in a new albums the screen goes fuzzy and nothing works so I have close iPhoto and then go back in and start over.

There are 9 different versions of iPhoto and they run on 9 different versions of the Operating System. The tricks and tips for dealing with issues vary depending on the version of iPhoto and the version of the OS. So to get help you need to give as much information as you can. Include things like:
- What version of iPhoto.
- What version of the Operating System.
- Details. As full a description of the problem as you can. For example, if you have a problem with exporting, then explain by describing how you are trying to export, and so on.
- History: Is this going on long? Has anything been installed or deleted? - Are there error messages?
- What steps have you tried already to solve the issue.
- Anything unusual about your set up? Or how you use iPhoto?
Anything else you can think of that might help someone understand the problem you have.

Help!! jdk1.4 is doing strange things.......bug?

And another question.....I use JBuilder....when i compile the program and run it under jbuilder everything works fine......When i 'pack' it with installanywhere...install it...and execute it....not everything works fine.....strange...

Lightroom 4.2 doing strange things, no drobo, no tethering??

I switched to lightroom 4.2, first, it still pointed to lightroom 4.1. I got that set right by forcing the links. Now, after installing 4.2 (and confirming in help that 4.2 is indeed running), I can no longer see my DROBO drive which is where my images reside, all links are greyed out. Help

My Nikon D800E keeps disconnecting as well, not a good start since I thought tethering was one of the bug fixes??
