Iphone 4 software upgrade issue

When I try to update the software on my iphone 4 through itunes, using a USB cable, I am getting an error after about 10 minutes that the connection is timing out.

OK. The reason I ask is because if you have iOS 5.0, you can perform the update from the phone instead of iTunes. To see what you have, go to Settings > General > About > Software Version.

Hello. I've bought an iPhone 4, which its operating system is 4.3, and was prompt by iTunes about this iPhone 4 software upgrade to iOS 4.3.5. I've downloaded the software and waiting for quite some time and after the dowloading has completed, the file will be processed. After processing, there is a popup saying that somehow the software upgrade failed and said something like make sure that your connection is correct etc. Do you have any idea on how to solve this issue?

Oracle 9i database software upgrade issue with standby (Dataguard) database

All,
I have encountered a problem in upgrading the Oracle software on 2 of our databases in-house. The databases in question here are using Dataguard, so one is set to primary and one is set to standby. The version that they are/were starting at is 9.2.0.7.
I was able to install and complete the 9.2.0.8 and 9.2.0.8 OCT CPU patches on the primary database, however when I moved to working on the standby database, I am got an error when attempting to follow step 6 of the post installation tasks:
Enter the following SQL*Plus commands:
SQL> STARTUP MIGRATE
SQL> SPOOL patch.log
SQL> @ORACLE_BASE\ORACLE_HOME\rdbms\admin\catpatch.sql
SQL> SPOOL OFF
(Please note that this is my first experience with working with Dataguard, so my methods in updating might have been a bit off-base.)
If I attempt to startup the standby database in MIGRADE mode, I get the following error (which is expected):
ORA-01666: controlfile is for a standby database
If I try to run the catpatch.sql script, even after mounting the database in standby mode, I receive the additional error:
ORA-01219: database not open: queries allowed on fixed tables/views only
My question here is, how do I get the standby database to allow me to finish the software upgrade process, so that both versions of Oracle match on the primary and standby databases? :)
(I did try some research on Metalink, but only found an article detailing how to upgrade your dataguard database from 9i to 10g, which did not look especially helpful in this case...)

i just purchased the online software upgrade from 1.x to 2.x how long should this take??? my ipod and itunes have been sitting there, apparently frozen, for almost 2 hours as of this post

Check your date ect to make sure its correct, that stuff can mess up digital signatures. If that dosnt help try the manual package download from the apple website and we can hope that will fix it for the future and is not just a stop gap.

It is always recommended to troubleshoot software/hardware/network issues with reset BlackBerry phones first.

Iphone 4, ios5 upgraded, issues with iMessaging.....activation unsucessful, no associated telephone number, just email.

1. upgraded to ios5
2. activated iMessaging
3. get message saying carrier may charge for activation texts - never received these - no matter how many times i try to activate
4. keeps saying activation unsuccesful
5. allows me tho, to sign in with apple id
6. recipients receive iMessages in their text inbox but from my email address
7. if i sign out of apple id cannot use iMessages
8. iMessages has defaulted to email address, not telephone number as it should
9. if i try to add another email adress it will alow me but there is nowhere anywhere at all for caller id
10. i cant delete that email adress as it is the primary one that im signed in with as my apple id
11. i have done a hard restore, ive turned all my notifications, imessaging, face time off then turned phone off and on again....
12. considering a restore thru itunes
13. also considering a DFU
14. and finally considering flushing the bloody thing!!

iMessage is a strange one for me too...
When I first activated it, it would not show up texts I sent or rcvd on both my iPhone and iPad.. just iPhone... I played with this for a long time before changing the "Caller ID" setting from within iMessage settings... NOT the one in the phone settings...
After I chose to use the email (Apple ID) assigned to iMessage the syncing worked! this doesn't change the fact that my regular phone number shows up to non iOS5 devices I text... very strange for me too...
it does work however I had to change that setting in order to get it to work...
As for cant activate... I had that issue at first but after first day it worked fine...perhaps network lag or iMessage lag due to too many users in at once...

Activating Iphone after software upgrade

After upgrading my Iphone software to 2.0, I-tunes wants me to create an account with AT&T and it will not work again until the account is made. I work in Saudi Arabia & got bought the phone here and have no idea how to get my phone working again? I am British so I don't have a US address.
Any suggestions please?

I can only presume that the phone was activated before I bought it.
When I first got it I put my Saudi sim card in & it worked just fine.
The phone came here via Dubai, so I am in the process of trying to contact the source supplier.

2014 Lexus won't charge iPhone since software upgrade

I have a 2014 lexus rx350. At first it charged and played my music with display.....GREAT, then I upgraded iOS,now, no charging, no display. When plugged in via USB, it actually blinks and begins to discharge the phone. Please help. I called Apple, they blame it on Lexus. i called Lexus, they said the problem is Apple. Now neither port will charge The phone, lighter or USB.

Are you using an Apple cable? If not an Apple branded one, is it certified as Made for iPhone? Cable compatibility can become an issue with non-certified cables when you do an iOS update. If it is not charging even via the lighter, sounds like a cable issue.
If you are using an Apple or Apple-certified cable, have you tried a different one in case this one is damaged? How about the iPhone itself, have you tried a Reset? Restore?

Lumia 620 software upgrade issues

My Nokia lumia 620 with windows8 was upgraded to the latest software (amber, i guess) and after this the touchscreen stopped working. The touchscreen was recently replaced.
* Is there a way to go back to the previous version of software (where the touchscreen was accessible)
* Is there a new upgrade planned to resolve the touchscreen problem.

Was the display repalced by an authorised Nokia care Centre ?
Try a Soft Reset (Press Power + Volume(down) keys until the phone vibrates (about 8-10 seconds). Phone will reboot...) and see if the problem gets resolved ..
Also confirm that all the System applications are upto date. You may use THIS application to check..
BTW there is no way to Roll Back the Firmware.

Z30 software upgrade issue

I installed the latest software update on my Z30 yesterday. Everything went according to plan and I rebooted the phone when instructed. Since then I have not been able to restart the phone.
Since I backed up the phone before updating the software, I used BB link in an attempt to reset the phone to its factory settings and start over. Software install gets to 97% compelte and then gives me the message "software update encountered an error". I hit the ok button and then select Reload again and the installation times out at 97% again. I have done this at least 20 times with no success. I have tried this on three different computers and the problem is always the same.
Any ideas?

So the software won't finish downloading. Sounds like a server issue to me and not a device issue. I would suggesting taking matters into your own hands. Install the version that's was leaked a few weeks ago on the Internet. It's the same version as the official one Verizon is rolling out. Here are some instructions. Disregard step one since you can't make a backup.
1. Connect your device to your PC and make a full backup with BB Link.
2. Download the correct autoloader for your device from the first post in the thread linked below. You need to know your full model number (i.e. STL100-1 (or -2, -3, -4) which can be found in Settings >About. Make sure you download the one for your model that contains the radio file.

Close Link and leave the device connected.
Double click on the autoloader you downloaded.
The process should take around 5 minutes or so. when it's done, you'll need to complete the startup process before you can connect to Link and restore data.
When you're done you can restore your backup, though I recommend NOT restoring your Settings backup as it's best to start clean with this new OS but it's up to you. You may experience small bugs here and there from restoring the Settings portion of the backup. Media and Application data seem to be OK to restore.

3g iphone - reception, software upgrade and other things.

I've read a lot of disgruntled people's posts on here on how bad Apple is, how crap the iphone works etc. I thought I might just add my 2 cents worth.
I bought my phone the day it came out (no waiting in lines for me, it's who you know). Anyway, my iphone has worked FLAWLESSLY. Not a single problem. I have just upgraded to 2.1 without a hitch. My reception is always good, and that is on a crappy Australian Optus network (I can differentiate between the phone and network problems unlike most). I have had one or two dropped calls, but that was inside a building were the 3g dropped out to 2g while I was talking on the phone.
I have since recommended the phone to 5 other people who, like myself are absolutely satisfied with our product (no, I don't work for Apple nor am I an Apple Fanboy).
I have used countless smartphones over the years.....I can remember when scratching my head why a Windows mobile phone would not sync properly with a Windows PC (hands up all those who have been there eh?). People need to look at it for what it is, a cutting piece of hardware that has the ability to develop and grow....unlike ANY other phone out there. When was the last time you upgraded your Nokia or HTC phone (without having a mental breakdown).
I for one am very happy with my purchase and unlike others, don't expect my phone to do my taxes or wash the car for me. Time to bring some reality back to some of these posts.

This has never happened to me with every firmware update released since 3rd party apps became available.
All 3rd party apps on your iPhone should be in your iTunes library on your computer. Is Sync Apps selected under the Apps tab for your iPhone sync preferences with iTunes and was this selected before installing the firmware update?

Upgrade software on my iphone4 iOs6, however, now lost imessage, facetime, icloud, twitter and facebook, they are visable under settings but you cannot press them to be active. they are grey in colour.
I have restored my phone twice to factory settings, reloaded my phone but no luck

Try a reset. I that fails, restore as new but do NOT restore the backup.

HT201210 iphone 4 software update issue because disk using is full even though saving to iCloud

Trying to update an iphone 4 from 5.1.1 to 6.1.3 and keep getting an error message at the end saying the disk you are attempting to use is full. The phone has been synced and has room available but for some reason the software won't update. Suggestions?

Is this an over-the-air update, or are you updating through iTunes? If you are using iTunes on your computer you need about 3 GB free on your C: drive (Windows) or your Macintosh HD (Mac). If you are updating over the air the iPhone also needs about 3 GB free. All of this memory is not needed after the update is complete, but it is "working storage" during the update process.
