I synced my iPhone 4, but it keeps getting the red exclamation points and an error message when I try to download the latest software. And, it won't let me restore the phone without the latest software. I'm stuck.
Then, this morning, the phone locked up completely. I got it to turn off finally, by holding down the power button and home button at the same time for more than 10 seconds. But still no luck with the software download.
It's Thanksgiving, and can't go to Apple.
My phone is my only telephone (no home phone), and I use it to keep track of two email addresses (personal and work). So I'm anxious to have it fully operational.

one can't update itunes or safari seperate on the iphone those 2 are a part of the ios update
you need to update your computer and then update your phone
or if you have ios5 I guess you can update from settings

I've got Windows XP and have just upgrade iTunes to v10.3.1.55 and it won't now recognise my iPad when I connect it, nor my iPhone, but it does still recognise and sync my iPod Classic. Asking me what I think is not what really matters here. What do you think? Do you want to wait for another update to iTunes in order to sync or backup your iPad again? That could be weeks down the road - no telling when it may be updated.

Here is something very simple to try. Quit iTunes and restart your computer. Then restart your iPad and try to sync/connect again.
Restart the iPad by holding down on the sleep button until the red slider appears and then slide to shut off. To power up hold the sleep button until the Apple logo appears and let go of the button. -

As you know, your iPhone 5 is not compatible with our iBook G4. To get your music in iTunes from your iBook to your iPhone you would need to migrate the music files to a newer intel based Mac. A Mac which has Mac OS X 10.6 or higher installed. Then sync your iPhone 5. -

So I just updated to the newest update that was available for safari and iTunes but now it won't let me go on the Internet using safari and it also won't let me sync my songs ,,,,,(it takes forever to backup my iPad AND my iPod) so what can I do ?

This worked for me an hour ago and has allowed me to sync ok. Still haven't tried downloading the new version 5 to the phone yet as I'm still backing up photos etc just in case.
1. Quit itunes
2. Start an elevated command prompt (Start Menu -> All Programs -> Accessories -> right click Command Prompt -> Run as Administrator)
3. Once in the command prompt type the following 3 words starting where your cursor is flashing: netsh winsock reset
4. press ENTER
5. Reboot your machine
6. Restart itunes & connect device to sync

Yep. I did some more poking around and found that one. Downloaded it and tried to run it and got more errors. Did some more searching and found a fix for the installer on Vista. Ran the fix and tried the ipod software again. It got further, but then hung up again. I'm still trying to figure this all out. Anyone got any answers it'd be much appreciated.

What do you mean " back up my photos or Apps"?
The photo sync is one way - computer to ipad.
You can transfer itunes purchases. Without syncing: File>Transfer Purchases
Copy everything from your backup copy of your old computer to your new one. -
I just bought a MBA and I need to move my photos and itunes to an external hard drive (from my old MacBook Pro) because they won't fit on the Air. I got the photos moved fine and I followed an online tutorial to move the necessary files for itunes, but it didn't work. The files copied fine, but when I tell iTunes on the Air to look at the external drive for the library, it doesn't find anything. What I copied was the entire iTunes Media folder. So, how do I move the necessary iTunes files from my old Pro to a external drive so I can access them from my new Air? Whew!

I just updated my macbook pro and now every time i go to youtube it tells me I have to download the new version of adobe flash player so i do and it still wont let me play it ..
Assuming Allan's advice is not correct, and you do run the installer, I think I've heard of that problem and it involves removing the old Flash plug-ins, then install the new version. I don't use it so I don't know what they are called, but will be the /Library/Internet Plug-ins folder.
You can go here and enable HTML5 in YouTube so you don't have to use Flash: http://www.youtube.com/html5
Most(?) of the content is HTML5, but you may run into videos where you still need Flash. -

I installed the InDesign CC Testversion and now i try to open INDD-Files from earlier Version. Always i get the error "This file is made by an earlier Version...." but it´s CC that is the latest Version. What is the problem ? Should i have to convert the files ?
Adobe has been using confusing version names for at least five years.
There are now two versions labeled CC, version 9 and version 10 (also known as CC 2014). Version 10 is the latest, and if you attempt to open a version 10 file in Version 9 that is not fully patched you will get an error message telling you that the file cannot be opened. The latest patch for version 9 should use a cloud-based service at Adobe to convert version 10 files to IDML and allow you to open that.
I suspect you may be using an older operating system. Version 10 requires that your system runs at least OS X 10.7 or Windows 7 SP1 and if you are not it will not even be offered to you. -
I rec'd a CD with audio files. The suffix is .v09, and they won't play on iTunes. Any idea what I should do?
I have a MacBook, OS X.No helpful information seems to be available about this, except that on Windows .v09 indicates an unknown extension - in other words they could be anything. What do you get if you highlight the file and hit command-i - does the info pane give you any file type?
The best thing would be to ask the person who sent you the CD what they are; if you can't do this you can only try opening it in various programs. Audacity is a free audio editor which can open a number of formats. You could try dragging it to a browser icon in case it's Flash, or try the Windows Media Player. However there's a good chance that it's one of the obscure audio formats, in which case you very likely won't be able to play it. -
Apple, can you say why do you like to "kill" old iPhones??? i'am dissapointed. Please, fix IOS 8 on iPhone 4s and provide ability to have IOS 6 on iPhone 4. IOS 7 and 8 are awful laggy IOS versions on this devices.
