IPhone 5 screen backlight blinking

Hello guys!
I have an iPhone 5 and, when the brightness goes on the lowest 1/8 of the setting, it starts blinking at a rate of about 1 Hz or so, maybe a little bit faster. It's annoying when I'm reading at night, and I'm given to understand that it may be a hardware-related issue. Is that true? If so, any experience about taking the phone to an Apple Store (it was bought outside of the US), since it's a discontinued model? Hope you can help me here.
All the best,
F

There is no advice we can offer you other than to try and find a competent 3rd party repair shop or look for help fixing it yourself someplace like ifixit.com.
Don't waste your time trying to contact Apple for help with this. They won't touch it. By opening it yourself, you forfeited the ability to get it serviced or get an out of warranty replacement.
Apple does not sell iPhone parts at all.  The only sources for parts are stolen parts, counterfeit parts, and salvaged parts.

    Hey Gio Angelino,
Thanks for the question. I understand that you are experiencing a potential hardware issue with your device. You’ve done some great troubleshooting so far. The next step would be to restore your device with iTunes to completely isolate the issue.
Use iTunes to restore your iOS device to factory settings

If the issue persists after a restore, your iPhone may need to be serviced. The following link should help you get started with the process. Included, you will find information on topics such as warranty, service pricing, and express replacement service.

  • Iphone 4 screen backlight

    Hi all.

i mean the light points at the top of the screen. Do you have something simillar?

    Hi,
This is normal if its an application your running but if this is all the iphone is doing then their is a problem with the screen or the firmware.

  • Iphone 4 screen blinking and changes color.

Hi. When i woke up this morning, my iphone's screen is blinking and the color is distorted. No history of fall, any contact to water or whatsoever. The phone works well, internet, calls, apps, only the screen. However, when i took a screen shot and uploaded it, it looks normal in the pc. Hope someone can help me

Faulty battery, faulty screen. Apple replaced iPhones have at least a 90 day warranty, make Genius reservation or set up service and take or send iPhone to Apple for resolution.

Unfortunately because you have violated the warranty - it will cost £216.44. See https://www.apple.com/uk/support/iphone/repair/screen-damage/
Unfortunately, since an unauthorized party opened it, Apple won't have anything to do with it at all. It's not eligible for an out of warranty replacement.

    Hey 11doski,
Thanks for the question. After reviewing your post, it sounds like the display has a dark screen. I would recommend that you read this article, it may be able to help you resolve or isolate the issue.
    iPhone: Hardware troubleshooting
Display has no backlight or dark screen
Toggle the ringer switch to see if the unit vibrates. If it does, it could be that iPhone is getting power, but is not displaying any image.
Try turning iPhone off and then on again.
While connected to the iPhone charger, try to reset the iPhone.
If the low-battery screen appears, charge the iPhone.
Thanks for using Apple Support Communities.
    Have a nice day,

  • HT201412 Iphone 4S screen stops working from time to time

Iphone 4S screen stops working from time to time.
sometimes for a few seconds, or sometimes many hours.
I've resetted it when this happens, with no luck.
I've restored it from back up, and the problem still persists.
    What can i do?

    Hello,
I had that problem as well and the apple support suggested to turn off the LTE-mode to have a running system and try to exchange the micro-sim by my provider.
    THAT was not an option!
BUT it seems to solve my problem in the following way after trying a lot of possibilties:
In the menue properties/help (don't know the exact english word, because I run my phone in german)
I switched on the nice feature 'flash LED' by incomming calls, msgs, and push infos.
Today the flash feature was responding to different push notes very slowly.
By switching this feature off the LTE-mode-tochscreen-not-responding-problem disappeared.
We tried this on a other iphone, not having the metioned problem, and switched the LED-flash:
the problem appeared. Switching the LED-flash off: problem disappeared!
It seems to be a bug that the LED will hint Calls and MSGs in combination with the LTE mode!
treated my phone very hard today to double check, but its still ok.
    @Apple:
Please fix that issue in the next update.
Hope, this helps you guys as well.

  • IPhone 4s screen can't be scratched

I've got an iPhone 4s like 6 months ago. I protect my screen with a screen protector, but my friends told me that iPhone's screen can't be scratched, its this true?

Of course it's not true. It's made of glass. No matter how hard the glass is, it can be scratched.
As a practical matter, I never use screen protectors and I've had iPhones since the original in '07. I've never had scratches on the screen.

It's happened to me before as well. Try holding both lock(top right) and home buttons simultaneously until u see a slight flash of wight then just reboot it normally. If that doesn't work try restoring your device from itunes

    Short description of the problems:
--- Press ESC key couldn’t bring up Startup Menu when booting up
--- Blank screen with blinking cursor thereafter
--- Stuck here forever and OS is not loading
    DETAILED INFORMATION:
    Product Name and Operating System:

    O/S: Pre-loaded with Win 7 Home Prem
    Processor: Pent. Dual-Core CPU T4500 2.30GHz
    Memory: 4GB

    System BOARD ID: 1484
    Product #: WQ767UA#ABC
    Product Config ID: 049C110000202710000020000
    Problem History:
--- Used to have frequent BSOD (got fixed later because of faulty RAM that I suspected)
    --- Window couldn’t be loaded
--- Window Repair and HP Recovery were tried but not functioning
--- OEM Hard Drive was then removed & formatted few times by using other computer
--- Hard Drive was then tested by other computer; it can be installed Win XP & Win 7
--- So, Hard Drive was eliminated from the suspect list
--- Replaced with other good RAM from other computers & put back the OEM Hard Drive to my HP G62; everything worked fine, such as: able to reinstall Win 7; listening to music files; got Internet to download latest BIOS from HP support site; connected to my 42 inched TV as my monitor; and even smoothly updated the BIOS from v.17 to v.37!
--- Also, able to receive Window Updates from the Internet; and seemed that all problems were nicely solved
--- Once I believe my system got stabilized; I went back to test the 2 supposedly problematic RAM to see whether they were both faulty or not, then the whole thing has turned around! Completely screwed me up until this moment …
--- After put back the problematic RAM, Window couldn’t be loaded …
--- With a few error messages… such as,
    --- The file is possibly corrupt. The file header checksum does not match the computed checksum;
--- After the next reboot… an unexpected screen message showed up:
Intel ® Cantiga PCI Accelerated SVGA BIOS

--- After that, OS was not loading …
--- Press ESC key couldn’t bring up the Startup Menu during boot up
--- Blank screen with blinking cursor thereafter and seems stuck here forever
    Procedures performed for troubleshooting:
Tried hard reset for more than 5 times (removed battery, AC adapter disconnected and then hold down the Power button for more than 60 secs) and tried reseating memory too; same result with Blank Screen with blinking cursor after each reboot.
Connected to an external monitor [Fn + F4/F5] to see whether there was any display, nothing has showed on the external monitor, it seemed that no connection established between the two.
Finally, took the long journey to follow the Service and Maintenance Guide of HP G62 to remove the CMOS battery for well over 15 minutes and put it back. But the result was again disappointed. Tried 4 times already. The latest error message is:
The CMOS checksum is invalid. The CMOS will be reset to the default configuration and will be rebooted. Please check your BIOS Setup options to see if they change.
    CMOS Reset (502)
    ENTER – Reboot the system
After this message, the same Blank Screen with blinking cursor came back. And pressing the ESC key couldn’t bring up Startup Menu when booting up …
Note: the fan is still running; the Power button is functioning but seems stuck here forever!
I’ve already carefully read this HP Support document titled “HP BIOS Application Selected is Corrupt or Missing”:
    http://h10010.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/document?cc=us&lc=en&dlc=en&docname=c01443485#N144
If really is the BIOS problems, then I will have the difficulties of updating a Window-based BIOS when I couldn’t even load Window!
(Note: Boot from USB has no point because right now I couldn’t change the boot sequence because the various “Startup Menu” options are not showing up!)
Secondly, I am still stuck with the Blank Screen with a blinking cursor after I passed the first screen of “Press the ESC key for Startup Menu” when re-booted again!
Thirdly, I have formatted my Hard Drive more than 3 times during the last few days for testing; I don’t have the OEM pre-loaded Win 7 with me anyone … and I don’t think I have the UEFI installed previously on my system. I did try hold down the Win Key + B with the most updated BIOS in the attached USB …, it came back with the same blank screen with a cursor blinking after reboot.
Note: the Blank Screen I’m experiencing right now is not completely black, in fact, there is background light from behind the screen and on each reboot, I can see the HP logo and the left corner message of: “Press ESC key for Startup Menu” … So, I suppose that my computer screen is not physically broken at least.
    Requests:
Please explain to me that what are the problem areas and the root causes if is possible?
What steps or other tests can be done to make it work again?
Do you think replacing the entire MotherBoard can cure the Blank Screen with blinking cursor?
[Warranty: expired! I am the original purchaser & the end-user of this HP G62; acquired 2 years ago directly from a trustworthy source: staples (in Canada). Would HP Support still willing to service it for an extra charge?]

  • Why does my iphone 3gs screen go white after it goes "to sleep" for the first time after turning it on?

Why does my iphone 3gs screen go white after it goes "to sleep" for the first time after turning it on?
The screen isn't broken because it works after i turn the device off and back on, but after it goes black once, it's only white again.
But it takes the touches although it's only white, because I can answer my phone when I slide my finger on the bottom of the screen, eventhough there in not the button to see.
This is so weird. I have already done everything I can think of that might help. But I cannot think of anything that might be causing it, because nothing has happened to the device.

Let me know if I should start a new discussion instead of opening a new topic here.
My wife's iPhone is the same vintage as mine 3Gs, but has never had the battery problem.  Its affliction instead is that it cannot detect WiFi networks unless it is quite close to the source.  Often, when my iPhone not only detects but shows a maximum cells connection with a network, hers cannot detect the network at all.  In contrast, her iPhone seems to detect ourcellular carrier just as well as mine does.
Is there any help for this affliction?
