IPhone 6: Is partial frying possible?

Today I poured a cup of tea on my brand new iPhone. Luckily my silicon case partly protected my phone from sucking too much liquid. Still entire front surface was all under liquid. I have immediately switched off the phone. I wiped and drained out the liquid as much as possible. I kept phone switched off for around half an hour and switched it on again. It worked with no apparent problem.
Now here is the question, if a phone switches on and works under such conditions, does that mean all systems go or is there a chance that a part under the hood could be silently out of order. If partial failure is invisibly possible, how can I diagnose the entire hardware in iPhone?

"Partial Frying" as you said in your subject is most definitely possible.  iPhone and liquid are just not good friends.  And while your phone may be just fine and operate without any issues, if liquid got in the phone, things can degrade.  Unfortunately, warranty does not cover liquid spills and Apple can instantly look in a phone and see the liquid sensor to see if it has been triggered.  If it has, you either use your AppleCare+ warranty if you purchased it when you bought the phone and pay $79 for a replacement, or if you did not purchase AppleCare+ you can get an "Out of warranty" replacement for about 50% of the cost of the phone.
