[iPhone Beta 6] Interface Builder no longer supports the iPhone!

Just upgraded to beta 6 and tried to open an XIB file, only to receive an error message that "Interface Builder cannot open files of this type." A closer look at IB shows that no longer are Touch apps listed as a template type when creating a new file. Anyone else having this issue?

Sorry, false alarm...10.5.3 failed to install properly prior to updating to beta 6 and as a result the SDK itself didn't install.

I have a Tritton TRI-BC200 hands free device that my iPhone 5 no longer "sees" on Bluetooth, so, I cannot pair the device. Anyone have a suggestion? Tritton no longer supports the device.

I had this problem and what I did was: read the user manual. I was actually using the wrong buttons to put the Tri-BC200 on pairing mode. I also boot my I phone. Everything worked OK. Regards.

  • FATAL ERROR: JVMPI, an experimental interface, is no longer supported.

A common question on JDK 6 and JVMPI:

    <p>
    Why is this happening?"
    <p>
By default JVMPI has been disabled in JDK 6. The new and official interface is
    JVM TI.
The warnings about the removal of the experimental JVMPI have gone on for many years now, but there are still some older profiling tools that still use it.
You should contact the Company that created the tool, they will likely have a newer
tool that uses JVM TI, or offer you a workaround.
    <p>
Also, if you haven't tried the
NetBeans profiler you might want to give that a try, I just used it for the first time last week, it was quite nice.

    Hi Guys,
Probably you can remove the '_JAVA_OPTIONS' setting from your environment variables on the Windows OS. This setting is usually created by the install/setup file of the tool installed on your machine. In my case it was the QTP (Quick Test Professional) a testing tool from 'Mercury'.
I used to get this error message when I tried typing 'java -version' or 'java' on the command prompt.
    *Picked up JAVAOPTIONS: -Xrunjvmhook -Xbootclasspath/a:C:\PROGRA~1\COMMON~1\MERCUR~1\FUNCTI~1\Java\classes;C:\PROGRA~1\COMMON~1\MERCUR~1\FUNCTI~1\Java\classes\jasmine.jar*

Please use the supported interface: the JVM Tool Interface (JVM TI).

Error: could not load Mercury Interactive support. Please run the setup again.
If the problem persists please contact Mercury's Customer support.
Error occurred during initialization of VM
-Xrun library failed to init: jvmhook
After trying hard with the available information on the websites, I tried removing the '_JAVA_OPTIONS' and 'IBM_JAVA_OPTIONS' entry from the system environment variables. After removing this entry, I tried launching QTP Tool and it was able to launch without any issues and when I typed 'java' or 'java -version' I got the actual expected result.
Hope this would be of immense help for other guys !!
    Enjoy coding!!

Without knowing anything about your computer we can't advise specifically. You can download CS6 versions in CC by checking the "older versions/ other versions" stuff in teh bottom section of the CC app's "Apps" tab, but that may not resolve your issues.

  • IPhone SDK Beta 2 Interface Builder Add a UIViewController

    Hi,
I am trying the new SDK (beta 2). I didn't try the beta 1 before, because of the lack of IB. However, I am having a problem when trying to code a simple Hello World with a button, with a classic MVC design.
If I use a UIViewController as a view controller, it compiles fine, but when I hit the button, it crashed. If I code it, or if I subclass the UIView and use it as a view controller, it works.
Is there any difference of coding compared to a "classic" cocoa app ?
    I hope everything is clear.
    Thanks for your help.
    Have a great day.

I've written a tutorial on how to setup a basic Hello World MVC app at: http://ihatetheiphonesdk.blogspot.com
    hope it helps!
    thanks. That helped me!
    A couple of issues though:
    1. I could not "*right click*" and bring up the outlet popups. I had to control-click to do that.
    2. the steps for connecting up outlets for viewController and window did not exist already for me as selectable outlets
"-Connect our App Delegate's viewController outlet to our view controller, and the window outlet to our window:"
I added them manually to the app delegate and then ran the connections. Then, I had to add
    +" IBOutlet UIWindow *window;+
    +IBOutlet UIViewController *viewController;"+
to my HelloWorldAppDelegate.h file (along with any other code that I compared to your files)

  • SDK Beta 7 - Interface Builder Keeps Crashing

I am running 10.5.3 on a MBP. I was previously running Beta 4 with no problems.
After installing SDK Beta 7 I can no longer use Interface Builder. As soon as I scroll the library scrollbar and reach the datepicker object the IB application beachballs indefinitely. This also happens if I double-click a .xib file in Xcode - IB just hangs.
I have repaired permissions, removed the dev-tools and re-installed them and rebooted several times but the problem persists.
Is anyone else experiencing this problem? How can I fix it?

  • I am unable to download the programs onto my laptop. I keep getting a message that says the operating system no longer supports the programs.

I need help, i am not sure what operating system needs to be installed. I have a mac and the operating system is up to date.

Creative Cloud programs are not spec'd to work with Mac OS X 10.6.8.  You would have to upgrade to at least version 10.7.  You should check the system requirements for all of the programs you wish to install to see what the minimum is that would cover all of them.  Just Google "InDesign system requirements" to find them for InDesign, and repeat for the other programs using their names instead of InDesign.

  • IPhone Interface Builder Tutorials???

New to Objective-C, X-code, etc. and now that Interface Builder came out for the iPhone SDK, I can't seem to find any information at all on how to use it (it does not seem to integrate with X-code as I have found in non-iPhone development work with X-code and IB.
Could someone please suggest or direct me to websites, videos, or books that would help a complete novice use this tool? Thanks.

    Thanks for the reference.
I have to say the process using IB is very intuitive - NOT.
I've been reading an older O'Reilly Cocoa book and it makes at least some sense and seems to be integrated with X-code for Mac development without tweaking the default code. I see a steep learning curve ahead as heavy use of secret right-clicks and unintuitive dragging are usually to be frowned upon except for folks who have already climbed that mountain (if you even know why you're doing it .
I hope more is coming from Apple.

    Some background...
I have no problems like this on my PPC development platform, just on my Intel-based system.
    Configuration:
    Intel hardware, 1.6 Ghz, 2GB, Mac OS/X 10.5.7
Originally I installed the the devtools from: xcode3122621developerdvd.dmg
and the 2.0 or 2.1 iPhone SDK, but never used Interface Builder (long story)
When the final SDK for 3.0 came out, I installed that from:
    iphonesdk_3.0_leopard_9m2736final.dmg
A few days ago, I said, OK, enough reading, I'm ready to start on my application, and fired up Xcode, created a new project and double-clicked on the .xib file to build my interface.
That's when I first saw this problem... and now I'm stuck.
    What I've done since...
#1) Deleted prefs for Interface Builder (ibtool), and XCode
    retried... same error
#2) wiped /developer clean and resinsatlled from iphonesdk_3.0_leopard_9m2736final.dmg
    retried... same error
    retried #1, retried, same error
    #3) ran /Volumes/Olórin/Developer/Library/uninstall-devtools --mode=all
    rebooted
checked international to make sure US/English was selected
    repaired disk permissions
    rebooted
verified, no prefs files in ~/Library/Preferences or /Library/Preferences
    retried... same error

I was about to post a reply which included the entire crash log for details... and saw this line:
    7/21/09 12:44:16 AM [0x0-0x28028].com.apple.InterfaceBuilder3[269] Couldn't read font cache (file://localhost/Volumes/Olo%C3%83%C3%85rin/Developer/Platforms/iPhoneSimulator.platform/Developer/SDKs/iPhoneSimulator3.0. sdk/System/Library/.lilid/.lili).
The file is there, so why can't it read it... uh oh, not exactly
    ... I typed /Olórin/ not /Olo%C3%83%C3%83rin/
Apparently somewhere internal to Interface Builder, when it translates characters, it does it TWICE,
so instead of 'ó' (that's 'option-e o', we have 'o%C3%83%C3%83' which may have worked if it had
only been '%C3%83', without the extra o, or the extra %C3%83.
I am so glad I found this, but I'm furious at Apple for making me rebuild my development system 3 times!
...someone really needs to do better QA on a product used by so many users.
I changed the name of my disk from Olórin to Olorin and Interface Builder works fine!
The PROBLEM all along was the name of my development disk ! ! !
    Someone at Apple, please NOTE!
Someone please tell me how to report this, and maybe get Apple to hire me even if just for better QA!

  • Interface Builder - Locking Properties

    Good morning all,
I have some question about the feature to lock properties in Interface builder. I am using Interface Builder 3.0 (629) and I am not sure if the behavior I am seeing is a bug or if it is just some small details I am unaware of. Here is my little annoying problem:
Whenever I open some of my nib files ( they are now all saved as NIB 3.0) some of them instantly are flagged as something changed, and some don't.
1: I can't figure out why Interface Builder thinks that. The only thing I can think of, is that I might have created the Nib file on a primary monitor ( I am developing a Macbook pro) and sometimes I might have created the Nib file on a second monitor. Is it because Interface Builder is relocating the Nib file on the 2nd monitor ( which has the Dock) that he thinks something has changed??
2: Also, when I am trying to lock the nib files using Non-Localizable properties, on some NSTextField it still does not let me edit the text.
3: Whenever some locking is applied, I have the same issue as in (1), Whenever I open up a locked Nib file, I see the big LOCK image flashing. ( I think interface builder is trying to do something) And on some NIB file it is fine.
I also noticed that when my Nib files were saved as Nib 2.0 I could not save the deployment Target OS.
Thanks for confirming my doubt or explaining these undocumented behavior if they are not!
    Simon

Nothing beyond what Apple's already released or said in the press releases is known, or can be discussed, by anyone here. Sorry, but we'll all have to wait and see.
As to individuals writing their own apps, again, we'll have to wait and see, but there's no indication that Apple will support this anytime in the foreseeable future. Their emphasis is on providing apps that won't totally screw up an iPhone, so therefore I'd I doubt strongly that Apple's going to want to support iPhone on which any of us can install anything we happen to cook up.
    Regards.

  • If I no longer have the old application Backup installed on my Mac (part of the .Mac subscription), do I still need the folder called Backup, that is in my Library in the Application Support folder?

If I no longer have the old application Backup installed on my Mac (for performing scheduled backups of data on the computer), do I need the folder called Backup, that is in my Hard Drive, to Library, to the Application Support folder?  (There is no Backup folder in my Home Folder, to Library, to the Application Support folder.)
Backup was part of the .Mac subscription I used to have, and I have not used it since I gave up being a .Mac subscriber many years ago.  In fact I recall Apple saying at one point that they no longer supported the Backup Application.  I assume the Backup folder is just remnants from when I used to have that application, however I could be wrong, and don't want to trash the folder unwisely.
As I looked through the various items in the Backup folder, nothing appears to be modified since 2007, which further confirms that this folder is from long ago when I used to have that application.  I did notice that the main Backup folder itself was the only thing that had a more current modification date on it.  That date coincides with the date that I installed Snow Leopard on my Mac earlier this year.  But I'm assuming that any operating system software installation will place a modification date on all the various folders of one's computer, with the date the new OS was installed.
Any insight will be appreciated!  Thank you!

Since it has always been very basic to backup your computer and all it's data, Apple provides no way for you to transfer music from your iPhone back to your computer.  As you know, you can re-download all iTunes purchases, but music that you ripped yourself you'll have to just re-rip again.
You can try and find 3rd party applications that might help you.  I'm sure you'll pay, however.
Let this be a very important lesson learned.
    Best.
