IPhone causing iTunes crash

I'm connecting my iPhone to the computer I am using and it has never had problems before but suddenly it is. It's been synced with it several times and the settings have not been changed. The computer reads that it's there because the iPhone camera window pops up, but iTunes just won't read it, and what's worse is it completely freezes my iTunes until I restart the computer. I've tried switching USB cords, and I've tried restarting my iPhone and computer, nothing has helped. Any thing else I can do?

I'm having the same problem but iTunes actually sees the iPhone and tries to sync. I've tried multiple times and have restarted the iPhone, re-installed iTunes and still no luck. iTunes crashes and crashes every time I try to sync or update the iPhone to 2.2.1.
Any help would be much appreciated.

  • IPhone causes iTunes crashes after restore!

    Hello all,
Hope someone can help. I had about 1Gb of orange-coloured "other" files on my iPhone 3G, so I thought I'd do a restore to get rid of it. I connected my iPhone, let it sync and backup through iTunes, and when it was finished, hit the "restore" button.
It all seemed to go fine, but after the phone was restored, iTunes crashed. I was left with the spinning beach ball and nothing else. My iPhone had no apps on it, but I was able to restore all my emails, contacts etc through my MobileMe account.
Now, whenever I connect my iPhone to my Mac, iTunes immediately crashes with the spinning beach ball. I've tried reinstalling, deleting all the library files relating to iTunes, and deauthing/reauthing the computer, but nothing works.
It's an iPhone 3G running the latest firmware, and iTunes 9.0.2 on a current-gen iMac running 10.6.1.
    Anyone got any ideas?

    Hi Barry,
Try disconnecting the iPhone, deauthorizing and authorizing iTunes, then connect the iPhone and sync it again.
This article: http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1420 will show you how to deauthorize and authorize the computer.

  • IPhone causes iTunes to hand on connect

    Hello,
Recently I've been attempting to connect my iphone to my pc, and it is causing iTunes to hang and i end up having to end the task.
I have the most current version of iTunes 8.2, and 2.2.1 on my iPhone. I've never had this issue before and I believe I've successfully synched the phone post 2.2.1 install.
So far I've done the basic troubleshooting steps as well as I've tried it on my main computer and my laptop and also authorized and de-authorized each pc. Nothing seems to work.
Has anyone else had this issue? I recently had to purchase another synch cable but they didn't have any offical apple cables so I bought a knock off, could this be the issue?
    Thanks,
    -Eric

  • Connecting iphone in Itunes crashing PC

Wondering if anyone can help me, When I plug my phone into my laptop, it is crashing. Itunes previously worked fine. I have down loaded the latest itunes.
I have had to restore my computer to factory settings. Everything seemed fine, then I downloaded itunes and plugged in the phone and it blue screened and crashed again! Help

  • IOS7 update caused iTunes crash and left phone at loading screen.

I had originally attempted to update via the on phone option, but when that failed I went to itunes. All was going well ntil it came time to install the software on the phone. iTunes promptly crashed, and my phone is stuck on a black screen with the Apple logo and a progress bar. Any help would be appreciated.

Fcopertini, at my visit with the apple store somehow the guy took my phone and got it to enter in the "restore mode" and be recognized right away by using the method mentioned here http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1808... (I tried this like 5 times to no avail) not sure what he did.
But when I got home I still was unable to get my phone to be connected to my computer. I did a little bit more research and tried 3 more things, and was able to finally get my phone recognized and restored. (my iTunes was the newest version becuase I could not download iOS 7 without it)
    1. I stopped and restarted the Apple Mobile Device service. (I figured that after removing and installing itunes completely twice would do that already but who knows)
    2. I removed the Apple mobile device USB driver (found in device manager under Universal serial bus controlers) again and then connected my phone to the computer to allow it to find the driver for me. (I had already done that before but maybe in combination with restarting the service it helped)
    3. I removed my phone from the mophie case (it has a battery pack on it and makes the 30 pin connector to mini usb) Though I do not think this was the problem becuase I have connected it to my computer before multiple times and even after I did the restore I tried with the case on and it worked.
But all in all so I guess the firs two might have helped my computer see the phone again, and if that works then try following the links instructions about the recovery mode.
The guy at the apple store pretty much followed the instructions exaclty, except on #1, he just left the phone plugged into the computer and then tried the reset thing. It then recognized it was in recovery mode and hit restore for me.
I think I would have been able to do it if I had been able to get my computer to recognize my phone before hand. Sorry this is long but maybe it will help.

  • ITunes crashes when I attempt to open my iPhone within iTunes

Since updating iTunes and installing the latest iphone software iTunes crashes when I attempt to open my iphone in the device panel. I therefore cannot perform any manual functions on my phone through iTunes. I'm running 10.7.3 and iTunes 10.6.
    Any suggestions?

Do you have any better luck with that if you update to iTunes 10.6.1.7?
From the notes for the release:
iTunes 10.6.1 provides a number of improvements, including:
    • Fixes several issues that may cause iTunes to unexpectedly quit while playing videos, changing artwork size in Grid view and syncing photos to devices.
    • Addresses an issue where some iTunes interface elements are incorrectly described by VoiceOver and WindowEyes.
    • Fixes a problem where iTunes may become unresponsive while syncing iPod nano or iPod shuffle.
    • Resolves an ordering problem while browsing TV episodes in your iTunes library on Apple TV.

  • ITunes crashes when I connect my iPhone 4S

This is a case of one laptop being confused with two different iPhones.
I had no problem using iTunes with my iPhone 4S on my Win7 laptop.
The other day, I had connected my wife's iPhone to my laptop to transfer some files.
It didn't work, so I gave it back to my wife. Now, I connect my iPhone and iTunes crashes.
It opens up and start to quickly scan the library music files and come to a freeze. All these happens in less than 3 seconds.
An error message comes up saying it will shut itself.
I have visited a local Apple store and they suggest me to uninstall iTunes and other apple applications, but no luck.
They then had no clue how to fix this.
It appears that somewhere in the laptop (win7, hard drive, some system folders, etc...)
it perpetually holds some sort of iPhone or iTunes links or vestiage. This is why it comes up even after uninstalling the iTunes.
I don't want to format the hard drive just for this.
Anyone had this problem or somthing similar??
if so, could you help me?
I don't want to format the hard drive just because this.
    I'm so frustrated.
    Thank you.

The best thing I've found is to close itunes first and then disconnect your iphone. This seems to work for me with both version 7.3 and 7.3.1. Hope this helps.

  • Why dose my itunes crash?

I have a new laptop Dell XPS 15 and since i instaled itunes every time i sync mi Iphone 4 itunes crashes before finishing the sync, why is that? Why?

Debit cards are no longer accepted in all countries - if you have a card on your account then it has to be a valid card for your country's iTunes. Have you tried removing it from your account, do you get the 'none' option ?

SInce last month, my iTunes crash everytime when open.
I asked the question at: https://discussions.apple.com/thread/6021712
Later, I found that turn off wifi make iTunes work fine.
Finally, today i know the true reason, because I use a global proxy by .pac file (for across the great wall)
If connect apple.com default with proxy cause iTunes crash.

  • ITunes crashes at 208.2 MB...

I have seen this problem archived, but no solution. As I try to update to the newest software for my iphone 3gs, itunes crashes every time with 208.2MB of progress. I tried reinstalling itunes & friends to no avail. I tried updating all of my drivers, disabling firewalls and antivirus software, disabling conflicting programs... all, alas, with no success. The event logs show an error with msvcrt.dll, and this is what the event log says:
Faulting application itunes.exe, version 10.2.1.1, faulting module msvcrt.dll, version 7.0.2600.5512, fault address 0x000372e3.
Any help resolving this would be greatly appreciated.

I think, many person got same error. When i transfered large file into the iphone or ipod or ipad, it crash and gave same error which you mention.

  • New iphone syncing problems, causing itunes to crash

I just purchased a verizon iphone yesterday and am in the process of setting up the phone to my liking.  Because of the verizon service the phone came with ios 4.2.8 which I have now upgraded to 4.2.10.  The sync process goes fine as long as i am only syncing apps, contacts, updating software, etc... The problem comes when i attempt to sync music, photos, and videos.  The sync will clear the first few steps of the process fine but will then cause itunes to essentially become unresponsive and crash.  At this point I am given a message saying windows is looking for a solution to the problem. no solution is found and the only option i am given is to close the program.  Unfortunately there is no specific error message given.  Everytime i open itunes again after the crash it will begin to sync again, slowly make a little bit more progress then crash again.  I also have an ipad and an ipod that both still sync sucessfully and do not cause itunes to crash, so im assuming the problem might be with the phone.  I have tried a full uninstall and reinstall of itunes, quicktimes, and other associated programs to no avail.  I have booted into recovery mode and completely started over with no luck.  Now im out of ideas on just what to do.  Any Thoughts?  I'm running windows 7 with the newest itunes and a verizon iphone with 4.2.10 fyi.
    Thanks

Ahhh man mine is the only discussion without any replies! Any help or suggestions welcome please!

  • Update to iPhone OS 4.2 causes iTunes to crash mid-download?

    Hi there,
I recently tried to update my iPhone 4 to the latest software version 4.2
It said that my iTunes was out of date and that i needed to upgrade to version 10.1. Which i did.
Once that was done i plugged my iphone in and tried to upgrade the software only to have itunes crash mid-download.
I've tried several times over the last few weeks and every time, iTunes encounters a problem and has to close...always during the downlaoding of the update.
    Can anyone help?
    thank you,
    james

First off, try it with another user account, (no you won't lose all your music - you don't want to sync, just update). If that didn't work then I would see if I knew someone with an iP4 and ask them if I can copy the ipsw file to the correct location. Use that and start iTunes again.
ps the second method is one that I assume works as I've done it with an iPod before.

  • IPhone causes Windows XP to crash when connected

Connecting the usb adapter from the PC to the iPhone causes a blue screen of death (BSOD).
Originally, I connected the iPhone to my Dell XPS m1210 and iTunes 7.3 to activate. Activation was seamless. It immediately recognized the iPhone and didn't cause any problems.
After activation, I disconnected the iPhone. When I reconnected it (literally plugged in the cable), my Dell started to recognize the device. Then it went directly to a BSOD. The BSOD doesn't contain the name of any file. Microsoft error reporting says the file is corrupted, so it can't analyze the problem. The problem happens again and again.
Since then, I have restarted my computer a few times, reinstalled iTunes twice, updated my usb drivers, all without any success.
Has anyone else experienced the problem? Anyone have any ideas on how to fix it?

    The BSOD reports:

Let's try getting a minidump to the Apple Engineers for a look.
To set up your machine to capture a minidump, right click on "My Computer", select "Properties", select the "Advanced" tab, select the "Startup and Recovery" Settings button, select "small memory dump" from the popup. When it crashes, look for the MiniDump file. It's usually in the folder "C:\WINDOWS\Minidump" and is called something like Mini<number>-<number>.dmp.
Generate the crash, collect the minidump, and send it as an attachment to this email address
in the email to Roy, be sure to include the following information:
    - A link to the thread on Apple Discussions where the issue is being discussed
    - The username you are using in the thread
    - The version of iTunes you are using or trying to use
    - the version of Windows you are using (mention service packs)
    - A concise description of the issue you are seeing
    - The exact text of the error message you are seeing

  • Itunes crashs each time I connect my IPHONE 3G

    Hi,
I cannot synchronize my Iphone since 4 weeks ago. Each time I connect my Iphone to my computer Itunes crashes and freeze right away.
I already uninstalled and installed Itunes following the steps from the apple website.
    Thanks for helping me,
    Jenny

    Jenny,
Make sure the iPhone is directly connected to a high-speed USB2 port on the PC, not plugged into a hub, monitor, or keyboard. Also make sure the iPhone is connected using the cable that came with it.
Does iTunes quit unexpectedly when syncing the iPhone in another user account or on another computer? This article: http://support.apple.com/kb/TS1275 will walk you through creating another user account.
Try restoring the iPhone from recovery mode as shown here: http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1808 Restoring the iPhone could cause some of the information to be lost if there is not a current backup. This article: http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1766 provides more information about iPhone backups.
