IPhone minus the phone
Is there a way to use the features of the iPhone without the phone. I say this (and it may sound crazy) because ATT is not in my area, but I would like a nice PDA that works well with my mac. I would like to someday use it as a phone, but for now I can't. With the recent price drop a PDA/ipod for $400 doesn't sound too bad.
THe most recent updates of iTunes 7.4.1 (2) do INDEED brick your phone if you have hacks on them, resulting in an endless loop that can't be restored.
Still haven't heard of anyone who was permanently bricked from this. Some confusion for a day while it was sorted out, is all.
Apple has shown now several times that they can quickly and easily rewrite code to assure that you do not add hacks nor use them on your iPhone.
And vice versa from third parties
It's ironic that Apple used to call cell carriers control freaks.
Informal surveys show that half of users savvy enough to hang around iPhone forums have modified their phones. Customization and applications are desired features, and available on every other smartphone. This is not the far simpler iPod market that Apple treats it as.
Attempting to stop unlock attempts is Apple's perogative. Trying to stop all modifications, especially after leading people on for six months about hopes for native development, is yet another bad PR move... and ultimately futile.
However, I agree that this is not the right forum to promote such mods.

We did not find the CSR Bluetooth chip that the iPhone has. However, there are several Apple->branded chips that we didn't identify, so we cannot completely rule out the presence of a Bluetooth chip.
From what we are told, a Bluetooth antenna (if it existed) could be integrated into a PCB like this >one, making identification difficult. The 'RF1UB' marking on the back of the board indicates that it's >been designed for RF, and probably tested at frequency. So, while we don't see evidence of a Bluetooth antenna, we cannot rule out its existence.
To make it perfectly clear: We cannot confirm nor deny the presence of Bluetooth in this device. -

Yes, Apple plans on creating a new iPod without the phone features. The newly planned iPod, secretly codenamed the CuisinartPod by Apple, will will also serve as a food processor, with interchangable blades for convenient chopping and mincing. This new iPod will also be dishwasher safe.

I got my ipod, and my wife, her iphone. I downloaded an app and use it in my itouch, but when my wife download it in her iphone, and the phone ask her to update it, it asks for my apple ID, but she has her own apple ID, how do we avoid this?

I can not make or receive calls! other functions itself. Internet, sms, whatsapp work. I restored as new iphone from the phone and from itunes and still not working.
Sorry for my english i'm spanishI have not tried that...I will look up the process so that I can do it correctly (and still transfer all of my files, contacts, etc). Any suggestions? What is the advantage of restoring as a new device..is this more akin to a complete wipe of a hard drive?

There are third party PC/Mac applications which can restore the music on your computer from your iPhone.

Os 5 update for my iPhone 4, the phone shows 7.2 gb of "Other"
After downloading os 5 for my iPhone 4, the phone shows 7.2 gb of "Other" and I cannot get it to sync. It will load contacts and apps but no music. I've tried restoring it but that doesn't help. Anyone else having this issue?
Well finally after spending about 6 hours restoring and updating, I finally got it fixed... Apple, you really made a mess of this one. Love the products but please make sure you got the bugs fixed before you release something!!! That was a stressful pain in the butt!

You can only locate, lock or erase your device when it is logged into iCloud and 'Find My Phone' is enabled, additionally the device will need to be switched on and connected to a wifi or cellular network.
Unfortunately, you cannot activate iCloud or 'Find My Phone' remotely. -
How do I delete an iCloud ID from on my iPhone 5s, The phone only shows my old apple ID, not the new one?
Go to Settings -> icloud and then you should see your icloud id, scroll to the bottom and select delete account, you are then able to add your new one.

I had my iPhone 5c stolen this Tuesday afternoon while I was at the beach. Immediately after I noticed it missing I called the phone and it was off. I called the phone continuously later that night but it remained off. I did not use the Find my iPhone app until the following morning, however.
The phone has said offline for 2 days now. I'm wondering...is it reasonable to assume that eventually the phone will get turned back on and I will get a location? Or do thieves have ways around this? I do have a passcode on my phone. Once the phone is turned on to the locked screen, is it connected to the internet?
I filed a police report but the police seem to be pretty disinterested in helping me recover my phone. I literally got this thing on Monday and had it stolen Tuesday the next day. I was so excited about my new phone so I realize now I was texting like a little girl out there and probably was an easy target. Place your iPhone into recovery mode as described here. You may have to try to enter recovery mode more than once to succeed.

How can I turn off "Find My IPhone" when the phone won't turn off but the screen doesn't work?
My IPhone has water damage so the screen has stopped working, even though the phone is still on. I need to restore the phone to send it back to the company, however when I try to restore it on the computer, it prompts that I need to turn of "Find My IPhone" in order to restore the phone. How can I do this on the computer with out use of the IPhone??

I don't think that iphone4 has find my phone app installed!
The Find My iPhone app is for locating other iOS devices. The feature doesn't use the app but has to be activated in settings. You were given that option when setting up and activating the phone and had to decline it if t wasn't activated at that time.
both phone use the same apple ID, will it works on the iphone4 or it will show offline only in my iphone5 app?
No, tracking doesn't use the Apple ID.
