Iphoto is not working on Mac OS X 10.5.8.??
I have tried to open iphoto and it is says it cannot open as it is in CLASSIC form. I then tried utilities and then the reinstall discs- there was no iphoto on the discs and I cannot find iLife...... do I buy snow leopard then Lion so I can get a photo application again?????
The pre-2006 iMacs this forum services run neither Snow Leopard nor Lion. Both require an Intel processor. Also, retail install OS disks usually don't contain iLife--it would be on the original disks that came with your computer. However, it would not be "in the open" on the DVD or CD. You need a utility like "Pacifist" to extract single file from the restore disks, or use the custom install option to reinstall just the iLife apps.
PS: If "About this Mac" shows you have an Intel Processor, post back and I can ask the Hosts to move your post to that forum.

Help!!!I am running Mac OS X 10.10.1 Yosemite and iPhoto Version 9.6 (910.29). Automatic updates in the Mac App Store is turned on for my iMac and it shows no updates available. I was told directly by Apple Support on the date that I wrote this article (Nov 8, 2014) that there were no Canon drivers and photo transfer software that worked with Yosemite. I was told by Canon that the workaround was to change the communication method from Normal to PTP on the camera, which did provide a solution. At that time I was running Mac OS X 10.10 (because the 10.10.1 update was not yet available) and the most up-to-date version of iPhoto for Mac OS X 10.10 that was available at that time, at least per the Mac App Store. With the Mac OS X 10.10.1 update if the camera is in PTP communications mode the thumbnails now appear in the Import screen in iPhoto almost immediately. If the camera is returned to Normal communications mode; however, it takes forever for the thumbnails to appear. I have been waiting 10 minutes and iPhoto has generated only 14 thumbnails. So it appears that there is still something not working properly between the original Canon EOS Digital Rebel and Mac OS X Yosemite 10.10.1 when the communications mode on the camera is set to Normal. -

First of all - what version of iPhoto. and what version of the Operating System?
In what way does it not work? Does it not launch? Does it crash? Unexpected results?
Are there any error messages?
Is this a new problem or your first try at running and installing iPhoto?
What were you doing, when the problem started? Importing photos? Upgrading the program?
Have tried anything already to troubleshoot the problem?

Updated my iMac to Mavericks. iPhoto is not working. Not able to update iPhoto. Need help.
The App Store thinks these apps belong to someone else.
This can happen for a number of reasons:
1. You set up the Mac with one ID and now you're using another. Solution: log in with the one you used to set up the machine.
2. You bought the machine 2nd hand, or as an open box, or the vendor set up the machine for you. Solution: Go back to the vendor and get them to sort it out.
3. The software is pirated. Solution: trash it and buy the app.
Other than that: Contact App Store support. There's a link on the right hand side of the App Store Window. They're the only ones who can sort out account issues. -
Please help! Iphoto upgrade not working!!!
Iphoto is not working. When I open it, it says it is upgrading, but only goes to 99% on step five. Do you know how i can fix this and save my photos? It also doesn't let me click into anything on that window, not even at the bar at the top of the screen, so i have to go into another window and force quit it. Then it does the same thing over again. You must have a corrupted file someplace.
Try these steps:
1: Reset iPhoto database here

3: Right click on the iPhoto Library and "show package contents" inside is a folder with your Originals.
Duplicate that with the Finder >Duplicate and move OriginalsCopy out of that folder and onto the Desktop, then delete all the files inside the original Original folder and then repeat #1 above, then reimport the OriginalsCopy in batches to see if you can locate the corrupted file. -

Close the app and open it again.

Turn the device off and on.
If that does not help, reinstall iPhoto - that fixed the same problem for me, but that will delete the iPhoto library, so your journals and slideshows will be lost. You may want to make a backup of your iPhone before you try that.
Reinstall the app
Remove the app from your device and reinstall it. Remember that deleting an app also deletes its data.
Delete the app.
Press the Home button.
Go to the App Store and download the app again.
Wait for the app to download, then open it from the Home screen.
If the download stops, you can resume it.

adobe allows platform swaps, but only with the latest (xi) version, Order product | Platform, language swap
your option to use acrobat on a mac are to upgrade to acrobat pro xi and change platforms, use a windows emulator (parallels/boot camp etc) on your mac or swap with a third party. -
Iphoto will not work after uploading yosemite
After uploading the Yosemite upgrade. The iPhoto will not work. I have done what the software recommends. I have deleted the app and reloaded it. I get the same message. The message that i get is:
your photo library is either in use by another application or has become unreadable.
shut down and restart your computer and then open iPhoto again. if the problem persists. try rebuilding your photo library. to do this quit iPhoto, and then reopen it while keeping the option and command keys pressed. you can also try restoring your photo library from a backup.
Any suggestions or help would be greatly appreciated.
MattDownload iPhoto Library Manager and use its rebuild function. (In early versions of Library Manager it's the File -> Rebuild command. In later versions it's under the Library menu.)
This will create an entirely new library. It will then copy (or try to) your photos and all the associated metadata and versions to this new Library, and arrange it as close as it can to what you had in the damaged Library. It does this based on information it finds in the iPhoto sharing mechanism - but that means that things not shared won't be there, so no slideshows, books or calendars, for instance - but it should get all your events, albums and keywords, faces and places back.
Because this process creates an entirely new library and leaves your old one untouched, it is non-destructive, and if you're not happy with the results you can simply return to your old one. -
