IPlanet 4.1 and Weblogic 5.1 Server
Hello,
Is the NSAPI plugin provided with Weblogic 5.1 Server compatible with
iPlanet 4.1? The Weblogic documentation doesn't seem to be clear to me on
this one. We plan to run in this setup on Solaris 8.
Any details on this are appreciated.
Thanks in advance and Best Regards,
Venkat K.
The certification was recently completed. It is in the process of being
placed on the web site. At that point, it will be officially supported.
Thanks,
Michael

IPlanet 4.0 and Weblogic 5.10 SP8
I'm using iPlanet 4.0 as a web server and Weblogic 5.10 SP8 as an application server.
Everything is OK when the line "weblogic.httpd.enable=true" is written in the
weblogic.properties file.
When I replace "true" by "false", it declares an error :
Error 403--Forbidden
From RFC 2068 Hypertext Transfer Protocol -- HTTP/1.1:
10.4.4 403 Forbidden
The server understood the request, but is refusing to fulfill it. Authorization
will not help
and the request SHOULD NOT be repeated. If the request method was not HEAD and
the server
wishes to make public why the request has not been fulfilled, it SHOULD describe
the reason for
the refusal in the entity. This status code is commonly used when the server
does not wish to
reveal exactly why the request has been refused, or when no other response is
applicable.
Is it possible to put weblogic.httpd.enable=false to use Weblogic without its
HTTP Server, and only as an application server ?The certification was recently completed. It is in the process of being
placed on the web site. At that point, it will be officially supported.
Thanks,

what I have missed?where is the problem ? some jar files need to be added for the project or modified ,or there's some problem for the integration between Myfaces 1.2.7 and Jdeveloper 11???Looks like WLS can't find the FacesServlet java.lang.ClassNotFoundException: javax.faces.webapp.FacesServlethave you checked if the jar containing the FacesServlet is deployed to the WLS?

Apache and webLogic Communication
Hi
we are deploying new application and client want to have Apache on one server and weblogic on another server.
Can you pls point to any notes/docs which tells how to configure Apache to have as fronend for applications in weblogic.
Thanks
SreeHi
Thanks for the info.
Since we are hosting team we amy not be able to allow/to code. We have existing setup where Oracle HTTP server in DMZ communicates with other report server oc4j using ajp protocol. We are also NOT allowed to use proxy pass.
For a new project we will be using Apache web server in DMZ and weblogic application server inside.
Can you Pls let me know how we can trasfer requestes thru Apache using other protocols like ajp other than proxy.

IIS proxy 5.1 and Weblogic 6.1 does not support sticky session
Dear Sir,
Our system is migrating from Weblogic 5.1 to Weblogic 6.1. After testing on

bugs of IIS proxy for 6.1. In development environment, one IIS match with one

During production launch, another problem found. It seems that IIS proxy 5.1
plug-in with Weblogic 6.1 does not support the sticky load balancing. A sticky
service is one where a client sends its requests to the same instance and those
requests are not redirected to other instances. In production, two IIS match with
two Weblogic. Below is
#WebLogicHost=10.0.3.12
#WebLogicPort=8012

Anyone have idea on out case?
Thanks,
KAIMy test was with 6.1 SP3.
The way to tell is by analyzing the cookie(JSESSIONID).
Perhaps the behaviour changed post SP1. I can't say for sure.

Is that entirely true concerning you don't need the persistence set to
replicated in the weblogic.xml to gain sticky load balancing?
The reason I ask was that in our situation sticky wouldn't work without
having the persistence set to replicated. This was with NSAPI and WLS 6.1
SP1. The weblogic servers were configured in a weblogic cluster. So..based
on this statement we should not have needed to set the persistence, but in
practice we did for it to work.

I just checked, and you are correct. You just need to have clustering
enabled in 6.1. You do not necessarily need to have persistence set to
replicated.
Of course, you won't get failover, but you will get the sticky load
balancing.

Why do we need to set session persistence to replicate in order to
perform
sticky load balancing ? There is no such requirement in WebLogic 5.1.
As
far
as I know, the IIS plugin simply interprets the value of the sessioncookie,
which should be embedded with the application server address, then
forward
the request to that particular application server.
We didn't use session replication in our environment because not allsession
variables are serializable.
"Eric Gross" <[email protected]> wrote in message

The problem you mentionned in the other newsgroup post has been
fixed
and
will be in SP4. If you are in production or nearing production and
need
a
resolution now, then please open a case with support.
You should not need any other parameters to do the load balancing.
But
to
have the sticky load balancing, you must make sure you have session
persistence set to replicated for the webapp in question.
I'm not sure I am understanding your 3rd question.
In any case, my advice is to either wait for SP4 to bereleased(scheduled
sometime this month) or if you really need to go into production
soon,
contact support to obtain the latest IIS plugin.

Dear Eric,
Thanks very much for you kindly information, but we still have thefollowing issues
regarding the WL IIS proxy:
1. We have already tried the IIS proxy that comes with WL6.1 SP3.However, the
result from that version of IIS proxy is not satisfactory, as weexperienced cases
where the web page is not displayed correctly (as in
http://newsgroups.bea.com/cgi-bin/dnewsweb?cmd=article&group=weblogic.develo
per.interest.plug-in&item=994&utag=).
If there is any IIS proxy released after WL6.1 SP3, Could you
kindly
give
us
a pointer to the plugin?
2. In WL5.1 case, we are only required to have "WebLogicCluster"
parameter
set
to two weblogic servers in order use the load balancing features.
In
WL6.1, we
do not come across any additional settings required to support
load
balancing.
Is there any such settings required (e.g. in
config.xml,weblogic.xml,
application.xml,
etc?)
3. Does WL IIS proxy problem has anything to do with the version
of
the
IIS server/windows
versions that are using? we have already tried with IIS4 and IIS5
and
have
different
kinds of issues.
Thanks in advance for your kind assistance.

I have 2 questions and these are very urgent :-
1. Where the mapping can be defined between LDAP groups and WebLogic Roles. I have
2 groups in iPLanet :- Contarctors and employees and I have 2 security roles in weblogic:-
contractactors and employess. How do I map LDAP group contractors to weblogic security
Role contractors? Similarly for employees ?
2. I have not defined contarctors and employeees under People container in IPlanet.
e.g. The RDN for contractor is
uid=1234,ou=dir,dc=orams,dc=com
Can I still use the defualt security realm of weblogic (the WebLogic Security Realm
under People ) OR I have to write my own custom code ?
3. I am planning to use Roles insetad of groups to manage the logical grouping in
iPLant. Can I still use the groups in WebLogic security realm ( in the configuratin
parameters ?)
This is very urgent ....so if any of you can throw any hints that will be greatly
appreciated.
--SunitaHi Ariel,
The driver is bundled with the product in WLS 6.1sp1. you don't have to
download any additional driver. Use it as you normally would only thing to
remember is if you are trying to write standalone java code then you have to
have weblogic.jar in your classpath. For the rest of the info follow the wls
docs for 6.1

Weblogic cluster for 24x7 environment and a front OHS server
Hi experts,
We are going to set up a reliable J2EE application server environment by using clustering webgoic servers on TWO nodes, and a front OHS https server in DMZ for load balancing.
I am new to weblogic cluster and load balance by OHS. I have visited this forum for Fusion MiddleWare clustering etc. Can some experts share some light on this?
Will our deployment architecture be able to handle the J2EE applications failover? In other word, we can restart one of Weblogic Managed Servers when a new release of J2EE codes are re-deployed without impacting business end users’s usage?
Problems we want to solve:
1. All J2EE applications are available for 24x7 even when new J2EE codes are released and deployed on weblogic Managed Servers ANY TIME, side-by-side deployment and restart a managed server if we need to clean the HTTP cache.
2. The J2EE applications should be accessed by external and internal users with a Single Access Point, like
https://apps.company1.com/j2ee1
https://apps.company2.com/j2ee1
https://apps.company1.com/j2ee2
https://apps.company2.com/j2ee2
All J2EE applications (j2ee1, j2ee2, j2ee3 etc) should be deployed on both of weblogic Servers in a cluster, and pointing to a SAME backend database.
Can some experts share with us the best practices on components and configurations? Thanks.Seems your architecture is like Browser => OHS ( DMZ ) => Weblogic => DB OR Browser => HLB( like bigip ) => OHS ( DMZ ) => Weblogic => DB
Cluster is the solution for load balancing however if you are using OHS for redirection to weblogic then OHS does the load balancing in round robin way. using cluster in this way has a benefit of in case of any one of your managed server is down the OHS will divert connection request to any one of the active managed server ( you have to turn on dynamic list on at OHS ).
http://weblogicserveradministration.blogspot.com/2010/10/load-balancing-in-weblogic-server.html
Failover is something different, if in case any of the any managed server goes down then your user you get the application session from another server but new one, means the the tasks not saved by the users on earlier session will lost. for that yo need to use cluster and then need to enable the session replication. another best option is you can use the coherence web if you are using latest versions of weblogic supporting coherence web. with that you not need to worry on user sessions and you can start any of the managed server anytime without worrying about the user sessions.
http://weblogicserveradministration.blogspot.com/2010/10/manage-http-session-states-session.html
http://weblogicserveradministration.blogspot.com/2011/05/oracle-coherence-37-coherenceweb.html
http://weblogicserveradministration.blogspot.com/2010/11/clustering-part-i.html
another way is, you can use side by side deployment feature in case you don't want shutdown your application completely, with this, old connections and new requests will goes to old application and once new application activated all new requests will come to new application and once all requests on old application will complete that application will retire automatically.

Jbuilder 6 enterprise and weblogic server 6.1 integration problem
hello,
i am using jbuilder 6 enterprise and weblogic server 6.1. i just got a new
workstation and imported my old project from cvs into jbuilder and
everything is fine up to this point.
the application in question is using servlet filters, so i absolutely need
web application version 2.3. it seems, though, that my jbuilder believes for
some reason that only tomcat 4 and borland enterprise server are capable of
using servlet filters. i cannot remember how i fixed this last time around,
but i did somehow. i had a recollection that the jb6_all_001 patch did the
trick, but obviously it didn't this time, at least. what is really annoying
is that the wizard does not allow me to create servlet filters and the
webapp dd editor does not allow me to configure filters, either. of course,
i can edit web.xml manually, but starting the server changes the dtd back to
2.2 and removes everything that is 2.3 specific.
please help me fix this?at the moment it is possible for me to work, though. i worked around the
problem and i set web.xml as a read only file. i still can't use wizards to
create servlets and i can't edit web.xml with jbuilder. -

adding users who are a part of the Domain. In your case you are trying to add users who are not a part of the domain, meaning, you are trying to create users only specific to Reporting Services, am I right?
But Reporting Services either relies on AD to authenticate the users, or you can create a custom-authentication extension to authenticate the users.
In your case, you might need use a custom security extension, and use that to create/delete/modify users. Check the Forms authentication Sample here:

IFS Server and Weblogic Server compatibility.
We are planning to host IFS Server on one Machine and Weblogic Server on another machine. Can we access IFS Server from Weblogic Server, which resides in another machine?
Presently we have installed Oracle IFS along with apache and we are comfortable running our programs developed using the IFS Java API, JSP and Java Beans.
Please let us know whether it is possible for the same, where Oracle IFS is installed in another machine and Weblogic is installed in another machine.

Sujeem HariesIt's not advisable, the general advice is to try to keep the SharePoint servers as clean as possible for both stability and security.
Having said that it is possible to install the Office suite on a SharPoint server and there are no massive gotchas i'm aware of. It is also worth noting that MS do not support automated (unattended) use of office applications.

JDeveloper and Weblogic Server - DOESN't WORK
Hi All,
Yesterday, I was working fine with JDeveloper 11.1.1.6 until I tried to do a deployment (like normally I do) and Weblogic wouldn't start. It was giving me an error, something like 'premature end of file' and security stuff. However, my colleagues told me to rename the folder defaultDomain under C:\Users\Alejandro\AppData\Roaming\JDeveloper\system11.1.1.6.38.61.92. So I did. It didn't help.
I restarted the computer, reinstalled JDeveloper in a new middleware nothing. I created a new Windows user and repeated the process. Nothing.

wlst > Initializing WebLogic Scripting Tool (WLST) ...
wlst > I am currently moving to a next computer to see because I cant keep spending time by solving this. Any help? Or should I just reinstall windows? I cant use linux because I need to work under VPN connection and I didn't managed to set it up.Really don't know much about your problem but whenever i have weired problem like these..... (it has happened twice in last one year) I just renamed that sytem 11.1.1.6.38.61.92 folder
next time i start Jdev, it creates this folder and everything started working fine.... the main problem here is that.... you have to setup your connections, version control and other weblogic specific items again...... from my experience, that has been worked out well.....

hi all.
i am using oracle application server 10g R2 over windows server 2003 64bit
but now i planned to go for apache and weblogic server for this i do not have idea that
should i do? plz what softwares are required to use apache and weblogic server with current version
10g R2.?The WebLogic Server (WLS) is a Java container similar to OC4J in Application Server 10g release 2. If you want to use WLS, you will have to upgrade your Application Server 10g installation to Fusion Middleware 11g. The upgrade path typically depends on the products which you are using in 10g, e.g. the upgrade path for SOA is different than the upgrade path for Forms/Reports or Oracle Portal. The [url http://docs.oracle.com/cd/E23943_01/upgrade.1111/e10125/before_you_begin.htm]Upgrade Planning Guide is a good start.
Thanks,

What is diff between oracle application server and weblogic server?
what is the exact difference between oracle application server and weblogic application server?
The difference between Oracle Application Server AND WebLogic Server has been discussed in a lot of forums dated 2008 and earlier comparing OAS10g with WebLogic10.0/WebLogic9.2
But, now since Oracle has taken over WebLogic, this is not really important.
Now, OAS has no further releases post 10g. WebLogic Server will be the Oracle's strategic application server going forward.
So, if your query is for choosing one of them for a new environment, you are better of with WebLogic Server 10.3.6 OR WebLogic Server 12g
As we will not have further releases of OAS and also OAS10g will be end of life soon, we recommend Oracle WebLogic Server.
If you still want to know the differences, here is one such old oracle documentation link that talks about it
