Ipod doesn't keep a charge

I charge my iPod fully then turn it off, put it away, and don't use it for maybe a week.
BY the time I go back to it, it is dead.
What is happening?
Thanks.

Are you actually turning it off (slide to power off)? Or are you just letting it sleep? When sleeping the iPod is working and will typically fully drain in less than a week.

I have my child on the family Icloud, it's a shared payment method and I have it set up were he has to ask me to use it. There is no way he knows my password, so I don't understand how I keep getting charges that I never okayed there have now been up to $35.00 worth of charges.  Any one know why this is and how can I get it to stop?

  • My iPod touch doesn't keep its charge.

My iPod touch doesnt charge. The icone shows that is charged but five minutes later it goes off by itself. What is the problem and what should I do ?

Try the standard fixes to rule out a software problem:
    - Reset. Nothing is lost
Reset iPod touch: Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
    - Restore from backup
    - Restore to factory settings/new iPod
if still problem that indicates a hardware problem and an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store is in order.

  • My ipod doesn't Sync or Charge, but does recognize USB cable

    Hi There
I have a 4th gen 60gb ipod that has worked fine for about 2 years. As of yesterday it doesn't charge when plugged into a charger or USB port (2 different ports with 2 different cables) but the wierd thing is that it does sem to acknowledge the cable being connected/removed as the backlight comes on and it doesn't drain the battery whilst the cable is connected. Also it seems to charge a bit if I boot into the diagnostics menu.
Resetting has made no difference and it still responds normally otherwise.
Is it fried? What settings in the diagnostics menu should I be looking at? Is there anything else I can try? All help appreciated!
    Thanks

  • Ipod doesn't recognise wall charger but will charge through pc

I'm completely puzzled - its stopped picking up charge all of a sudden if I plug it into the mains although my OH ipod classic charges fine with the mains adaptor. If I plug it into the pc it is charging fine via that. I tried resetting it to see if that made any difference but it doesn't.
If I switch it off so it has a black screen and then plug the mains adaptor in the screen display doesn't light up but I can see images as though it is powering up.
Any suggestions - its out of warranty in Nov this year.

I have the same problem here. Charges via usb but will not charge via wall or car charger.

  • My 4th gen. ipod will not keep a charge, wont play music and keeps freezing-did full restore/updates already - please help!!

The ipod will charge and allow me to access it/touch screen still works. When you click on an ap it is very delayed accessing. Sometimes music takes a while to show up, other times it freezes altogether.
Started a few weeks ago after it sat in a hot vehicle (not in use) for a few hours and hasnt worked since!

If you still have problems after restoring the iPod to factory defaults/new iPod you very likely have a hardware problem.  Excessive heat will permenently degrade the batter.  I would make an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store.

  • Ipod doesn't want to charge on Bose

Okay so I've had my Bose Sounddock since January and up until now I've had no problems, but now my ipod just won't charge on it, or any other kind of speaker dock system. It says its charging but the minute i take it off it says low battery and dies. It does however charge through the mains, and once its charged it does hold its battery, so it's not like the battery has had it, but its just annoying having to wait for it charge up all the time. I just want to figure out why it won't charge on the Bose???

Is your Mains charger putting out +5V or +12V (it should say on the plastic case of it)? And does the iPod charge ok off a computer USB port?
If the mains is +5V output and the iPod charges off the USB port, then what is likely happening is your iPods dock connector is damaged so that the Firewire power pins are no longer connecting internally (or maybe even broken off).
5th Gen iPods get power two ways. Either through the USB power pins or the Firewire power pins. Even though these iPods no longer sync with Firewire, they still can charge off Firewire. Bose uses the Firewire power pins, as do many docking radios, to feed +12V (or higher) voltage to the iPod. USB charging is off +5V.
So if your iPod charges on +5V or USB but not on the radio dock, you likely have problems with the dock connector on the iPod and those specific Firewire pins or something internal to the iPod with respect to the Firewire power inputs.

  • Ipod touch wont keeps it charge

I charge it up in the evening and when its fully charged i turn it off because i dont need it till the morning, when i get up i try to turn it on but the battery is flat. why is this and how can it be fixed?

Perhaps a little more information would help...after charging and you leave the Touch, is it off or sleeping?  Do you have apps running in the background?  Mail set to check?
Try going to the recents, what you get from double clicking the home button, and dismiss all apps on the recents dock bar.  Then charge fully, leave in sleep mode and see what the battery charge is like in the morning.
If the charge is still good, then something in the apps you were using was actually running in the background and using resources.
If the charge is still very low, it would be good to take the Touch to an Apple store genius bar and have it tested to see if there is a fault somewhere causing the battery to discharge while not in use.

  • IPod doesn't stay charged

I charge my iPod touch and it doesn't keep a charge when not in use. Does this mean I need a new battery?

You posted to the wrong area of discussions. This is the 5th Generation iPod group (the video full sized iPods that were released previous to the "Classic" models). If you are asking a Nano question, you want to post to this area...

  • What should I do if my Ipod Touch keeps losing charge a lot?, What should I do if my Ipod Touch keeps losing charge a lot?

My Ipod touch (3rd generation I believe) keeps losing charge really fast after I charge it and when it's charging the apple symbol keeps popping up.  Also, when I plug it into my computer it doesn't show up on my iTunes.  What should I do?

    Start here.
iPhone, iPad, iPod touch: Device not recognized in iTunes for Mac OS X
When you get iTunes to see the iPod try the standrd fixes to rule out a software problem:
    - Reset. Nothing wil be lost
Reset iPod touch:  Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
    - Restore from backup
    - Restore to factory defaults/new iPod
You could have a bad battery that needs replacment.  I can't really tell since you did say how long the battery lasted.

    - If not successful and you can't fully turn the iOS device fully off, let the battery fully drain. After charging for an least an hour try the above again.
    - Try another cable
    - Try on another computer
    - If still not successful that usually indicates a hardware problem and an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store is in order.
