What happens when you try? Does the iPod even appear in iTunes?  Have you tried a different cable or different USB ports on each PC?
    Need a little more information.

  • IPod Nano Freezes / Resets / Skips

My new 3rd Gen iPod Nano randomly freezes on certain videos (in the same spot EVERY time), resets in the middle of certain videos (again in the same spot EVERY time), and even skips (i mean entirely to the next song, not just a stutter) when I listen to certain songs, and of course, it's in the exact same spot every time.
Not to mention some of my Album artwork will display incorrectly, but if I skip to the next song and come back, it displays the correct artwork. But if I go back to the previous song and forward again, the album artwork is...you guessed it, displayed incorrectly or not at all.
I've tested every one of these songs on iTunes so far, and they work fine. I've tested the videos, they're good too. I tried them on my brother's 5.5g iPod video, and they still work great.
I restored my Nano and it didn't help either.
Are these all just bugs in the brand new iPod OS? Or do I need to wait another week for my iPod to ship out and one more week to have a new one shipped back?
This is a bummer. I was hoping I wouldn't have to deal with problems, because I have my iPod engraved. I don't enjoy the extra downtime in requesting a new product
    Anyways, any answers appreciated.

I think it is more likely a 1.0 firmware issue as other Nano 3G and Classic owners are having similar issues (Myself included). I have noted that I get song skips in the same places in certain songs and also a number of MP3's indicate that they are playing but the counter does not move nor do they actually play (They just sit at 0.00 with the play indicator showing). Very annoying when I have it docked on my speakers on random play as I have to keep going over to it and skipping to the next track.
The strange thing is that the MP3's this occur on are often in clusters from the same ripped CD's but it is never all tracks off the CD only a selection of them...
Ah well, hopefull as Apple normally do they will issue a series of fixes over the coming weeks and eventually provide a solid platform. Other than these minor quibbles I think the iPod has moved forward in a positive way but I wish the iTunes developers would get together with iPod and Apple TV developers to ensure they all have the same sorting and display of Tracks (Podcasts, TV Shows etc). For example, TV Shows on iTunes use the "Show Name" field for grouping yet Apple TV uses the "Artist" field ... WHY???? But I digress, sorry!

  • Ipod Nano frozen - reset not working!

I plugged my Ipod Nano 3rd Gen into my laptop to put music on. It wasn't connecting and then my itunes froze. I closed itunes and unplugged my ipod. It's now frozen too. The backing light is on and it has the last song I played up. I have tried to switch it off, also tried the reset instructions on the itunes website but it hasn't worked. Any suggestions?!?!

Same thing happened to my Nano. I bought a reburbished Nano from Apple, a couple months later it died, and felt very hot. I sent it to Apple and they said liquid had spilled on it and was "abused." Since that did NOT happen, I assume Apple sold me a defective refurb (in other words, didn't actually refurbish the item as claimed) or flat out lied so they didn't have to fix my defective Apple product.
Either way, it gives new meaning to "eating an apple." In this case, I'm eating a $100 apple. Lesson learned. Do not buy Apple reburbs. (Darn, I love those deals!)

  • IPOD NANO KEEPS RESETING ITSELF

Every time i unplug my ipod nano from my computer it resets it self and all the music i've just added isn't there anymore. What could the problem be?

If its been sitting for awhile, its showing the apple logo because it's waking up from Deep Sleep mode. Deep Sleep kicks in when you let your iPod sit for about 36 hours. If it is only when you let in sit for long periods of time, don't worry about it, it's normal. It had nothing to do with your cousins.

  • Ipod nano 7 resets while using nike  after updating to 1.0.3 PC

I've just updated my Ipod nano 7 to version 1.0.3 PC. After this it has been blocked twice when i was using Nike + app without nike + sport kit , and more the 30 minutes of exercise.
First time i had to force a reboot by pressing both buttons, second time it rebooted itself, but the record of the training was not recorded.
Problems start just after updating, i've never had such problem with this device. i've used in more then 100 runs.
I've just restored to factory, but still version 1.0.3. Can you give me some advice? can i downgrade this device toa previous version.
    Thank you in advance.

One way to replace the glass is by doing it yourself. Here is a link on how to do it. Replacement screens should not be that expensive in the first place. If you would like Apple to replace it and you Do Not have a warranty then use this link to find out repair pricing and other information. If this helped you please leave a good review. Thanks

  • My 7th Generation iPod Nano seems to hang and become unresponsive quite often...any ideas?

I've tried turning off and on...even tried reloading to factory settings....sometimes tapping the icons results in that jiggling behaviour.  Really frustrating to wait on it so often.  Any suggestions?

    Hello there Mescalero,
Thank you for using Apple Support Communities!
It sounds like the iPod Nano is acting strangley.
You have done some great troubleshooting already. One thing I do not see as having been done, is resetting the iPod. Try this out, and see if it resolves the issue.
    Reset iPod nano
To reset iPod nano try Step #1 or Step #2:
    1. Press and hold the Sleep/Wake button and the Home button for six seconds, or until the screen goes dark. The Apple logo appears after a few seconds, and then the Home screen. You may need to repeat this step.
    2. From the Home screen on the device, tap Settings then:
    Tap Reset Settings.
Tap Reset, or tap Cancel if you change your mind.
Tap your language, then tap Done.
If the above steps did not work, try connecting iPod to a power adapter and plug the power adapter into a working electrical outlet, or connect iPod to your computer. Make sure the computer is turned on and isn't set to go to sleep. Try resetting the iPod while it is connected to power. From: iPod nano not appearing in iTunes          http://www.apple.com/support/ipodnano/assistant/itunes/#section_4

My ex-wife washed my daughter's ipod in the washing machine. I can't get it to do much of anything. when i plug it in to my computer the apple comes up, which gave me hope. then the icon with the exclamation mark comes up and then it shuts off. i am trying to charge it, but it shows to be dead.... any ideas?

Always drag the iPod icon on the Desktop to the Recyle Bin before removing the iPod from the computer, or in iTunes menu bar click Controls / Eject (name of iPod)

  • Ipod Nano 7th Gen Issues

Ipod Nano constantly restarts when i plug it in and will not turn on. All it shows is the apple logo then turns black and shows the logo again. Any help would be much appreciated.

If it is only happening when you connect it using the Lightning cable I would guess you have a bad cable.

  • IPod nano resetting constantly

I have a first gen black iPod nano, bought it the week it was announced. Anyways, haven't had many problems with it. Recently my iPod restarted on me as I was using it in my car (Belkin Tunecast II and the Belkin cigarette lighter charger). I went to go play some music, but it restarts if I go to any menu options that contain music (Music, Podcasts, Playlists, etc.). It doesn't reset if I go to any other menus though. I haven't been using it because I haven't been able to get it to work. I've reset it manually and that didn't help. Any help would be greatly appreciated

If you have your iPod set to transfer your music manually, then that “do not disconnect” message will continue to be displayed on your iPod until you manually eject it.
You can do this by clicking on the little eject icon next to the iPod listing in the source window of iTunes, or right click on it and select “eject”. Another way would be to use the “safely remove hardware” icon in the system tray next to the clock (looks like a grey rectangle with a green arrow above it). Click on this then select your iPod. Or through Windows, select start/my computer, right click on the iPod, select eject.
If you have your iPod set to automatically sync with iTunes, right click on the iPod in iTunes, select options and if you have a check mark in the box marked “enable disk use”, remove it and your iPod should automatically disconnect after it’s finished transferring music.

  • IPod 5th Gen constantly resets and is not detected

My iPod 5th Gen erased all my music and constantly resets when plugged in.  I've searched far and wide through support to no avail so I look to the community to aid my quest to load music to my iPod again.  Thanks in advance for the help!
    Situation:
    - music and all data erased suddenly and is currently in factory settings
    - when iPod is plugged in to computer, the iPod screen shows (in order):
° "connected, eject before disconnecting" (~5 seconds)
° off screen, completely blank (~1 second)
° apple logo appears as if restored (~5 seconds)
         ° repeat perpetually
    Attempted Remedies and Scenarios:
    - restore iPod via select / menu buttons
    - try running Disc Mode via select / play buttons
    - restore iPod via iTunes (cannot attempt because it is not detected under devices)
    - reformat and erase all data in iPod via iTunes (cannot attempt because it is not detected under devices)
    - reformat iPod via Disk Utility (iPod is not detected on Mac so cannot select)
    - attempted all of the above with the following variables:
° with pc running Windows 7, iTunes current
° with Mac mini running Mavericks, iTunes current
° with Macbook Air running Mavericks, iTunes current
° tried all USB ports on all above computers
° tried 2 separate 30-pin USB cables (both USB cables work with my iPhone 4s)
         ° iPod is fully charged
         ° restart all computers

Hi everyone..  just found the solution... conveniently after I start a thread.  Turns out that my iPod nano had converted all 7.3GB of my 8GB into "Other" space and reset all my settings.
    Solution is as follows:
    - run disc mode while plugged-in (running Macbook Air)
    - restore dialog box appears via iTunes while in disc mode
    - restore iPod nano
    - upload music
    - enjoy

  • My ipod nano 4g is stuck at apple screen. reset, reinstall and restore doesnt work.

my friend gave me his old ipod nano 4th gen because he said it was messed up. immediately after you press the play button the apple logo appears and never changes. it constantly stays on the screen. ive restored the ipod to a previous firmware, i've reset the device, ive switched usb ports, ive even went to the extent of resetting my computer because i like this ipod so much. please, if there is any way that you can help me witha solution, that would be greatly appreciated.

Your friend already warned you it was messed up.  You tried your best to fix and nothing worked.  If you cannot find a solution in the user manual, visit iFixit and YouTube for DIY repairs or take your iPod Nano to a repair shop.
