Ipod recovery mode
hi, I have an 1st gen ipod nano that does not work, the scroll wheel and buttons dont work.
so I use as a flash drive, every time I plug into my computer (mac or windows) itunes tells me its in recovery mode, How do I stop itunes from telling me that?
Hi all.
After updating my 1st gen ipod nano to V1.1.3, i constantly get an error message "ipod in recovery mode". I have restored several times, ejected it and restarted itunes. I have even upgraded to Itunes 8. Still the same problem. Any ideas on how to fix this?

My ipod touch 5th generation is not being recognized by my computer under devices or in itunes; however, when I click on devices and printers it comes up under "unspecified" and is labeled as "Apple mobile device usb driver." I right clicked the icon and hit troubleshooter and it opened itunes and told me I should restore and update my ipod. I did this twice and nothing has changed, it is still not being recognized. This is a big problem because the only thing that will pop up on the screen of my ipod is the symbol for the usb plug with an arrow pointing to the itunes symbol (meaning plug into itunes I assume). I have tried restarting my ipod and restarting my computer and nothing is working. I have the most recent version of itunes. How do I fix this?
first try:
iOS: Device not recognized in iTunes for Windows
next
Try:
- iOS: Not responding or does not turn on
- Also try DFU mode after try recovery mode

- If not successful and you can't fully turn the iOS device fully off, let the battery fully drain. After charging for an least an hour try the above again.
- If still not successful that usually indicates a hardware problem and an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store is in order. -
Every time I connect my 20GB iPod to iTunes (7.0.2.16) the message appears "itunes has detected an iPod in recovery mode. You must reset this iPod to use it with iTunes". I click reset, the iPod is reset to factory and I plug it into the power adaptor, then back into the PC with iTunes, all my songs are reloaded to the iPod and it works just like it did before I started. How do I stop this insanity? I have not had this problem before and it seems to have appeared when I updated to the iTunes 7.0.2.16.
Any help will be greatly appreciated. This could be caused by drive letter confusion on your computer.
Scroll down to the "change the drive letter" section of this article below, and follow the steps there to assign your iPod a different drive letter:

How do I get my iPod out of the recovery mode loop?
While I was updating my iPod Touch 5g (32GB) to the latest iOS 6.1, the USB by mistake got ditached from my mac and the iPod's screen turned to a USB pointing towards the iTunes logo(Recovery Mode). It showed the same thing when I restarted it around 10 times. After connecting it to iTunes it said that "iTunes has detected an iPod in recovery mode. You must restore this iPod before it can be used with iTunes." After pressing OK on this message the screen I get on iTunes is of an iPod with the name "iPod" and not "Akshat's iPod". It says "iPod Recovery Mode" and has a button to restore. On pressing the restore button a message comes up to confirm the restore and the buttons are "cancel" and "Update and Restore". On pressing "Update and Restore" it searches for a latest software for the iPod and tells to download iOS 6.1 and after pressing download it happily take 4-5 hrs and gets dowloaded. Now, during this downloading period, the iPod keeps restarting on itself and the same message "iTunes has detected an iPod in recovery mode. You must restore this iPod before it can be used with iTunes." appears and after pressing OK it doesnt affect anything but this comes up more than 10-15 times. After the software download the status bar says "processing the download" and this continues for as long as we wait(i.e. it only stops when we press OK when the next message of recovery mode appears). The status bar again shows the apple logo. After this I have to again press the button of Restore iPod>Restoe and Update>Download iOS 6.1 and so the same procedure follows. I have done this about 5 times now, each time taking about 6 hours. I still haven't updated or restored my iPod. I can't get it to waork! This description is too long but I would appreciate if you would help me find a solution for this problem.
Maybe:
Restore loop (being prompted to restore again after a restore successfully completes)
Troubleshoot your USB connection. If the issue persists, out-of-date or incorrectly configured third-party security software may be causing this issue. Please follow Troubleshooting security software issues. .
Next try placing in DFU mode and then restoring.

How to enable disk use on an iPod in "recovery mode"?
I am trying to enable disk use on my iPod classic 80GB to recover lost files. One day out of the blue, 12 days worth of music vanished from my iPod, and as my laptop that stored all of my music was stolen a few months earlier, I need to manually recover the files by first enabling disk use (at least according to the various tutorials I have read online). There should be a box you can check or uncheck in the summary of the iPod when it's plugged in, but on my iTunes, all it shows in the summary is "iPod recovery mode" and underneath a "Restore iPod button". Is the "enable disk use" option not available because it is in recovery mode or am I just missing something?

How do I get my iPod touch 5 out of recovery mode without deleting everything?
So I tried to update IOS 8 today, but it made me update the other one…"IOS 7.1.2" so I did. Then my iPod shut off and went to the screen that says plug into iTunes. I plugged it into iTunes and it said that it was in "Recovery Mode" and that it could not be updated. I tried doing it again & now the screen is just the iTunes symbol with the plug. Can someone help me please? Or do I need to go to the Apple Store to get it fixed?
