IPod touch won't update my apps

My ipod touch start to update my apps and then stops. I have completed an ipod update to 6.1.6 and an ipod reset. No change, it will start the update and just stop. Can anyone help me on this matter?

Correct. The 3G iPod does not have the hardware to support an iOS version higher than 5.1.1
To more easily find compatible apps:
iOSSearch - search the iTunes store for compatible apps.
Apple Club - filter apps by iOS version.
Starting when iOS 7 was releases, Apple now allows downloading the last compatible version of some apps (iOS 4.2.1 and later only)

You first have to download the non-compatible version on your computer. Then when you try to purchase the version on your iPod you will be offered a compatible version if one exists.

Unfortunately, I do not have a solution to this problem; however, I am experiencing the same thing. However, my iPod Touch is new. It will not play any of the DRM-protected content that I purchased previously; however, it will allow me to purchase content with my Apple account, so it is certainly "authorized," as it were. The update bar on the app gets stuck on empty and then the next time I sync the app gets deleted.
It is really annoying to lose all my data when updating an app, and it has happend more than once!
Any idea why it does this? I am scared to update my favorite apps for fear that they could be deleted.

I never had an app being deleted. You can always udate the app on the computer and then sync.

IPod Touch won't update from iOS 3.1.3 to iOS 4

My second generation IPod touch won't upgrade from iOS 3.1.3 to iOS4. Everytime I plug it into the computer it tells me there's an update. I'll click theupdate and it will start backing up my files but it never gets beyond this point. What is the best way to fix this?

For the iPod not backing up, try moving the existing backup file to a safe location (you can delete after a successful backup) so iTunes has to create an entire new file. It is located here:

The amount of storage in iCloud is different from the amount of storage available on your iPod Touch. iCloud is more or less used as a backup for your content. So you'll need to free up space on your iPod touch by removing a few things before you can update your Apps.

I have an ipod touch, 3rd generation, 64G, model no. A1318 that has given me headaches every time there is an OS update. I usually end up with an ipod that needs to be restored and then upon restore the OS is updated. This time however, nothing is working. I get different error messages (this time it was error 1602 and then upon restore it was 3194). I really want to update my ipod as I use it a lot and this is driving me nuts. This time I can not reload apps that I has previously (like ibooks) because I need the update but it won't update. Can anyone give me any helpful suggestions please. I have read other threads and YES I AM POSITIVE it is 3RD GENERATION. Thanks

This error is often related to USB timing. Try changing USB ports, using a different dock connector to USB cable, and other available USB troubleshooting steps (troubleshooting USB connections. If you are using a dock, bypass it and connect directly to the white Apple USB dock connector cable. If the issue persists on a known-good computer, the device may need service.
If the issue is not resolved by USB isolation troubleshooting, and another computer is not available, try these steps to resolve the issue:
Connect the device to iTunes, confirm that the device is in Recovery Mode. If it's not in Recovery Mode,put it into Recovery Mode.
Restore and wait for the error.
When prompted, click OK.
Close and reopen iTunes while the device remains connected.
The device should now be recognized in Recovery Mode again.
Try to restore again.
If the steps above do not resolve the issue, try restoring using a known-good USB cable, computer, and network connection.

I have an iPod Touch 3rd generation (Model A1318). For the last several months I keep trying to update to iOs 5 and it gets stuck during the backup phase and an error message pops up:
As half of my songs are not iTunes purchases, therefor not on the cloud, I do not want to start from scratch and have everything deleted. Also, Apple does not allow you to extract songs back off the pod easily to backup, so it would present a serious hassle reuploading hundreds of songs from CDS etc. Can anyone help explain this message? Has anyone hit continue with the update occurring smoothly without anything being erased? Any guidance much appreciated. I tried several times disabling my anti virus software during the process like others have said on the boards and in the Apple store but the same message and outcome. For reference, I'm using Windows Vista and the most recent iTunes 10.6.1.

The automatic iTunes backup does not contain any synced items like apps, music (either iTunes purchases or not). There is no difference in what is backed up. See:

So I have an iPod 4th generation. I've been having problems downloading certain songs...I download my songs from youtube converter and all my other songs I have synced just fine. But there are about 10 songs that won't download,yes I have tried to convert them to AAC or whatever that is,and it seems like that won't work either. What exactly happens when you connect the iPod to your computer and update via iTunes? Error message?
If the iPod is not responsive then:
Try:
- iOS: Not responding or does not turn on
- Also try DFU mode after try recovery mode
How to put iPod touch / iPhone into DFU mode « Karthik's scribblings
- If not successful and you can't fully turn the iOS device fully off, let the battery fully drain. After charging for an least an hour try the above again.
- Try on another computer
- If still not successful that usually indicates a hardware problem and an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store is in order.
