    Try:
    - Reset the iOS device. Nothing will be lost
Reset iOS device: Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
    - Reset all settings
Go to Settings > General > Reset and tap Reset All Settings.
All your preferences and settings are reset. Information (such as contacts and calendars) and media (such as songs and videos) aren’t affected.
    - Restore from backup. See:
    iOS: How to back up
    - Restore to factory settings/new iOS device.
If still problem, make an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store since it appears you have a hardware problem.

  • Why does time machine go back less than a month?

    clearly, i'm doing something wrong...
i'm in the process of cleaning up stuff from my external drives.  sometime in the fall, i switched my time machine backup to a larger drive.  i did my best to follow the instructions for transferring over a time machine backup, and it didn't work.  i still have the old TM database, but time machine wouldn't recognize it.  so i lived with it and got on with my life, starting a new TM backup.
today, i just realized that it goes back less than a month.  what is THAT about?  before you ask, it's NOT a disk space issue.  on a 2 TB drive, i currently have 1.23 TB of available space.  there's plenty of ROOM for further backups, but it's just not keeping them.  please help... i love time machine, and it's saved my bacon on a number of different occasions.  but on many of those occasions, i had to go back quite a bit further than 3 weeks to restore what i needed.  if that's all i'm going to get from time machine, it's usefulness to me is slashed by about 80%.

Time Machine automatically deletes older snapshots to make room for new ones. If your backup history is shorter than you expect, it may be because you're backing up one or more large files frequently.
Virtualization software such as VMware, Parallels, or VirtualBox creates a large virtual-disk container that is constantly changing, so it has to be backed up every time Time Machine runs. That will quickly fill up any backup destination.
You should exclude the virtual-disk file(s) from your Time Machine backups. To do that, click the Options button in the  Time Machine preference pane. You may also be able to do it in the virtualization app's settings. Back up the files on the virtual disk from within the guest system, using a native backup application.
A compromise solution is to create a "snapshot" of the virtual machine in the virtualization software (not a Time Machine snapshot.) That will give you a single large file that never changes and only has to be backed up once. All the subsequent changes will be stored in a new file that's initially much smaller, but will grow over time. You should still exclude that file from TM backup. If you ever need to restore the VM from Time Machine, you'll have a working setup, which will make it easy for you to restore the rest of the data from within the guest system.
Another common cause of large TM snapshots is native OS X disk images. If you store a lot of data on one or more writable disk images, they should be in "sparsebundle" format, which will be backed up much more efficiently than any other format. A sparsebundle will not be backed up at all while the image is mounted. Make sure you unmount the image often so it can be backed up. Consider eliminating large read/write disk images from your workflow, if possible.

  • 2nd time in less than 6 months backlight of Ideatab Lynx stopped working

Just like the subject says, I've only had this device for less than 6 months and the backlight on the unit has once again stopped functioning. I really can't recommend this product as it has been nothing but a hassle having to get it serviced for a second time already. Aside from not being able to use it for a few weeks while it gets serviced, I have to pay for shipping to send it to the service centre. Somebody from Lenovo needs to suggest a better solution for me as I can't rely on this unit any longer. In comparison, I've had a Blackberry Playbook that's been through way more than this Lynx tablet and it's been over 3 years without a problem and Lenovo is supposed to be the better brand? hmm...

Unfortunately, the same happened to me for a second time with my Lynx. The first time Lenovo only re-intalled the software. I don't know how this "repaired" the LCD screen, but less than 3 weeks later, it broke down again. They only offer 1 month time to return it, so I'm stuck with it. At lease the warranty covers this.

  • Time Machine Migration hanging on "Less than one minute remaining"

I decided to take a risk with my iMac and do an erase and install with Leopard, the version of OS X it's been running for years now. The reinstall went fine migration assistent got me started transferring my information from my Time Machine external USB 2.0 hard drive. It said it was just over 200 GB of information. That proceeded fine until it reached the "Less than one minute remaining" mark. It's been sitting here for over 12 hours in the "transferring files to support applications" process. What should I do? Is it alright for me to manually turn off the computer and re-boot? There is no cancel button or anything. I do get the pleasant clunking sound when I hit enter.

    Welcome to Apple Support Communities
If you have connected both computers with a cable, disconnect and connect that cable again, so migration should continue. If it doesn't work, restart your MacBook Pro and check that all the files have been transferred. If not, open Migration Assistant and transfer your files

  • 5th time in less than 6 months

    Dear Blackberry Support Team,
I'm so sad to send this massage after 10 years of loyalty to Black berry smart phone as I bought my 1st blackberry device on 2005 it was the bb curve and then I bought another one for my wife at 2006, then she switched to bb curve 9360 and I bought the bold 9900 at 2012 and I continued to use it for 2 years despite facing delays in updates and models compared to Samsung and iPhone so I started to search for another BB that fulfils my needs so I got Z 10 on May 2014 which is now at the maintenance center for the 5th time.
Now I've decided to switch into another brand and leave Blackberry for good.
And before taking that decision I would like to clarify my reasons for that:
The lack of a real maintenance center here at Egypt
All the bb devices that I used I changed their batteries after less than a year because it heats up the device and affect the applications
And finally my struggle with the Z 10 smart phone which I bought in May 2014 as mentioned before and it went to the maintenance center after just one month of using it and it remained there for 25 days then they told me that they don’t fix BB mobiles and they are going to give me a brand new one instead which was fine by me and I thought my problems have ended … I continued using it for another month and again the same defect appeared again and I had to go to the maintenance center and the same thing was repeated and I received another brand now one after 20 to 25 days … this scenario kept repeating now for the 5th time, I receive a new device , use it for about a month then the same factory defect appears
My question here … is that normal??? To use a device for a month or two and instead of fixing the problem they switch it with another one!!??
I was an old and loyal customer to you but now unfortunately I will not be that customer any more.

I've read posts like yours, so you are not alone. I don't think it is typical, but I don't know the statistics. All I can tell you is I used the Z10 from the day T-Mobile started selling it, and now my wife is using it. My only complaint is battery life at best is not great for a BlackBerry, but everything works on it.

  • Audio issues twice in less than two months

Just wanted to put it out there based on some info that my verizon tech rep. gave me - I bought a Pre Plus on April 13th, 2010 and within 19 days of purchase (next day after downloading 1.4.1.1) I received a phone call, but didn't hear a thing. I call the person back and don't hear anything. They call me back and I try speaker phone; suddenly I hear a voice and they hear me. Now it's May 30th and I'm on my 2nd Pre Plus, and last night it happened again. For whatever reason and just out of the blue, unless I'm on speaker I can't hear anyone and no one can hear me, and it happens for no apparent reason other than a possible software glitch.
The tech support person from Verizon mentioned that they receive their known issues from Palm, so I'm writing here to say that this might be something to look into. Thanks!
    This question was solved.
    View Solution.

I've been on pre|central and have seen your posts, and after spraying the earphone jack with air and carrying out suggestions from yours and the pre|central threads my phone now works as it should've all along, however I have decided to jump ship. I spoke to my carriers tech rep. and they explained that Palm/HP doesn't see this as a big enough issue to do anything about it - i.e. carriers get a "known issues" list from Palm, and this isn't on it. Maybe behind the curtain they'll do the hardware/ software fix and the next batch of phones will have better aux jacks or something to prevent this, but for all of us previous owners... we're screwed unless we continue to turn in our phones over and over with the warrenty until the newest and better batch has arrived, bug free and all.
I myself decided that if I'm going to invest the next two years of my calls and multimedia into a phone then I certainly don't want to have to carry around a set of headphones and my bluetooth just in case this happens again b/c Palm overlooked this issue, so I'll be getting an entirely new phone. I loved my Pre (other than the lack of apps in comparison w/ android, iphone, etc.), but alas our time will be up soon enough.

  • Brand new ideapad u300s going into depot for 2nd time in in less than a month

    Hi,
I can't seem to get any help on the phone, all I get told is send the unit in.  I ask to speak to a supervisor and you tell me they will call back in 24-48 hours; it's been a week.  I call back and ask to speak to a supervisor and you tell me it's the weekend and none are available, maybe we can have one call you back later.  This is considered lenovo support.
I bought a computer for my wife's birthday, an ideapad u300s, and the first week everything is working great.  However, the LCD turns out to be faulty.  So we send it in to the depot thinking no big deal they'll fix it immediately and send it back to us. However,  the computer sat in the depot for over a month and we heard nothing.  We called tech support and asked a for a refund or a new unit but, basically, we were just transferred, told a supervisor would call us - which they did not -  and given the standard answer that they would prioritize our situation.  Finally,  it's repaired and in the mail.
We receive the computer everything seems fine, then my wife notices that it doesn't recognize the a/c adapter so the battery is now drained and we can't do anything.  We call lenovo again they tell us send it in, I ask for them to send someone here since last time I called you tried to sell me an extra warranty after I've only had the computer for a week.  Lenovo tells me that's impossible if you want someone to come onsite we have to pay for it.  Fine I give up I am tired of dealing with you over the phone I am sending the computer back for a 2nd time.
My wife has used the computer all of about 2 weeks and her birthday was in late March.
I cannot understand how you can operate like this; I've never experienced such poor customer support and general apathetic attitude of your phone reps.
Simply put, I will never buy another Lenovo product again; I am sure you don't care though if it's anything like your phone support.

It depends on how critical your connection is. Business customers get a much faster repair time, and are given priority over residential customers, and will pay compensation on some of their SLAs.
If you do not mind being without service for three to seven days, then the residential service should be fine, otherwise you should be on a business package, with a proper SLA (Service Level Agreement).
Its not simply the amount of usage you make of the service.
The residential service is aimed at the general public, who use it for web browsing, e-mail, gaming, and streaming services like YouTube.
You can get advise on this forum from other residential customers, but they are not going to be able to fix your faults, as this is only a customer to customer forum.
The firmware issue is discussed on a number of threads on the  forum. Alternative VHDSL modem/routers are also suggested.

  • Asha 300 hardware issue

Previously while I used to remove the battery for changing the sim card & while phone was switched on once again phone never asked/promted to set for date and time, but now a days every time even if I just remove battery for 1 second after phone is switched off and next time I turn it on, phone ask to set date and time.
Does anybody has any idea what hell is this??
I myself think that there is a small battery on board which is not removeable and when this phone was manufactured nokia people has put a super cheap chinese battery which got its juice empty in less than 7 months.
I never kept the phone longer than 30 seconds without battery.
Pls don't instruct/advice me to do restore factory setting or update phone firmware or rush to careless people in nokia care. I just want to know your opinion.

    Does this help?
However, it would be more than cool if somebody from Nokia could document the causes for this, finally. Just to prevent it.

  • E3000 Bricked 3 Times in a Row!!!! **bleep**?

Well let's start at the beginning....
I originally began with a WRT610N(basically the old version of the new E3000).  I had been using it for a couple months, when all of a sudden I was stuck with the power light flashing, meaning the firmware was corrupted.  I contacted support & they guided me through the process of trying to restore the firmware through using the tftp.exe program with no luck.  Unfortunately at the time this happened, the E3000 was just being released, so they stated it could be close to a month to get a replacement WRT610N!
So I decided to just go grab an E3000 from BestBuy, as I had some unused giftcards for there.  I bought the E3000 & used it for literally 2 weeks, then the exact same problem!  Power light flashing, firmware corrupted.  Again I tried to restore the firmware with no luck.  I should mention, each time I tried pinging the router after setting a static IP it resulted in a 100% packet loss, meaning the router was not even communicating with my PC.
So with it being within the 30 day period, I just went & swapped it for a new one.  Couple days later, same issue!  Went and swapped for another, so I am now on my 3rd E3000 in less than a month!
What could be causing this?  I notice the router does get fairly hot, but i have it in a well ventilated area, so not sure what more I can do about that.
This is supposed to be the highest end LinkSys router out there & I continue to have major issues with each of them.  Now I do pull a lot of data through it.  I have a NAS, 3 PC's, PlayStation3, Xbox 360, Wii, iPad, multiple notebooks, etc. on a 18Mbps Comcast cable connection.  But shouldn't this thing handle high amounts of data?  I mean it's the highest end router LinkSys makes, so what do I need to do?  Buy a true Cisco router for $1,000 for home use?
I'm at a loss.  If anyone has any ideas they would certainly be appreciated, as I think Best Buy is really starting to get tired of seeing me...
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

    Update.
After looking through the internet and trying several different "tricks" to unbrick my E3000 I almost gave up.  However I I found a way to bring this thing back from the dead.  My router had a fast blinking power light which means the firmware is corrupted.  The wireless light would not come on at any time.   No amount of resets or combinations of reset tricks seemed to work.   I could not get to the router by any means.
I was able to unbrick my E3000 today by going here and following the directions posted here: http://www.lancelhoff.com/how-to-fix-a-bricked-linksys-router/
I did not find directions like this anywhere else.
This worked for me...it took me back from a total brick to a fully updated router.  After reading the proceedure, there are a few tips I learned that might help you.
I was confused in step 1 as to which firmware image to use.  I thought there may be a small base piece of firmware to load but In the end I downloaded Cisco's latest (today 1.0.03   which is 7.5mb large)  firmware update to the desktop and then renamed it as per the directions to works.bin.   I did not expect for some reason that the full firmware upgrade file was the right one to use but as it turned out it was.
Also in step 2 when he talked about hooking up the ethernet cable to the router directly from your computer's ethernet port...put the cable into one of the 4 ethernet ports on the router rather than the yellow ethernet modem port.  Just clearing up a bit of potential confusion for you because the process does not always work the first time and as such I questioned if I was doing it right.
Also he states in his additional notes  that it sometimes takes a few tries to make this work...and it does.  I had to do mine 4 times before I got it to load the firmware.  I was surprised that the 7.5mb  firmware file loaded so fast.  Not long after I looked over and saw the wireless tranmit symbol  light working again.  I don't recall how long it took after the firmware loaded for the router to reset but it did probably within a minute without me having to touch anything.  I then was able to see the modem with the browser at 192.168.1.1

    What can I do??

    hi b noir,
I don't no about virtuel drives like you mententioned. In the mean time I have rebooted the XPS and run again the iTunes diagnostics. I think the back - chance in the registry was not ready to use.  Now there are another results. They are the same in case of a running CD or a not running CD. The difference in total is like before. It takes more time that iTunes reads the (bad) CD and at the there is no good sound. In both cases ( running or not running CD) iTunes diagnostics gives as a result :
