Is anyone else's Flight Tracker widget busted?

Anytime I try to type in any of the three fields I get a beep and it doesn't respond. The only way I'm about to adjust airline, departing citing and destination is by using the drop down box. It didn't use to be this way. I've tried logging off/logging in, closing and re opening the widget and even rebooting. Any suggestions? Am I alone in this? I'm trying to track a friend's flight, grrr...

Since I have updated to 10.4.8 I have lost the use of the People, Business, and Weather widgets. Translator and the other widgets are OK.
Weather doesn't update. The other two comeback with "Data Unavailable".
On 2 other machines in the house on the same network and OS they are working fine.
I have deleted prefs, rebooted, removed each widget to no avail.
Any thoughts/ideas are appreciated.

My new MacBook has a Flight Tracker widget, but the drop down menus don't have any airline, origin, destination info in them. How do you download the info so you can use the widget? I can't find any instructions.

Hi! Since it comes with the OS you can probably reload it from there. It should update via the internet when it's opened. You might look in your users>library folder for a com.apple.flighttracker.plst file corresponding to Flight Tracker and trash that pref file and then log out and back in to create a new pref file for it. Hello sharal09 & welcome to the forums...
These types of trackers can wax and wane in terms of reliability - if the source of information they are built to rely on is changed, they can break easily. You might want to consider using specific airlines websites as an alternative.

Flight Tracker widget lists not populated on new Macbook

Do I need to load this information somehow? It opens up no problem and all my other widgets are working fine, internet connection is good, etc. I'm a new Mac user so I feel like I could've missed something!

I have the same problem. Flight Tracker is working on my old computer: a PowerBook with OSX 10.4 installed, but not on this one an iMac running Leopard.
You shouldn't have to load any information, just select the airline, departure and arrival city.

Is anyone else having trouble tracking their free bumper shipment?

For some reason, I am having the worst time trying to track my free bumper shipment. I got the shipment confirmation e-mail from Apple on 7/30 with an estimated delivery date of 8/6. For the first two days, I got no information when I clicked on the DHL or USPS tracking numbers. Then, on about 8/2, it finally updated to MANIFESTED on 7/30 in Millington, TN. It has since been updating about 24-48 hrs behind, and the estimated delivery date is now 8/9!
Anyway, now it looks like it's saying it left the Atlanta, GA area on 8/4. I figured I'd get it today since I live in the panhandle of FL 10 miles south of the GA border (about a 4.5 hr drive from Atlanta).
Out of curiosity, I called DHL this morning. They said it was handed over to the USPS this morning, and I should get in midweek next week! The rep didn't really seem to care when I told her that on-line it says it was a 5 hr ride away, but I had called because the on-line tracking was updating 24-48 hrs behind. So, I didn't want to start anything - I just figured I'd call the USPS! Their automated system says they have no record of the package...ok...so I dialed "0" to speak to a rep, and it told me that "our automated tracking system is up to date, so the option of speaking to a rep is not available at this time!" WHAT?!?!? The USPS tracking website is even more behind the DHL site, but at least there is a record of it there! Here's what I have:

Anybody else with this problem? For anyone who has already received their free bumper, how long did it take after the shipping e-mail from Apple for it to arrive?

I would say frustrated, not furious, but impatient, no. I ordered a case before the free case program about a month ago and THAT still hasn't shipped, lol! I already took one business trip with the phone and dropped it quite a few times (lol) and didn't even really get frustrated, but I am about to take another business trip that I leave for on Sunday, so I was beyond thrilled that my bumper was shipping early and scheduled right before I left for my next trip.

When I export a AAF file from Protools 9 and Import the file into Logic ProX the drum track is out of sync. I created the drum loop using NI Maschine. Has anyone else seem this??

When I export an AAF file/project from Protools 9 using an external drive and import the AAF into Logice Pro X the drum track does not play correctly. It is out of sync with the rest of the track. I created the drum loop as a plugin using Native Instruments Maschine. Has anyone else had this problem?? Also how would I go about exporting the midi tracks from the Protools session. The midi track does not show when the file is imported to Logic Pro X. The midi data should export with the AAF file correct??

- If still not successful that usually indicates a hardware problem and an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store is in order. Since you tried using it/charging before it way dry it is likely permanently damaged.

I would love to see Flight Tracker from OS X come to the iPhone. I can only imagine that Apple will start migrating a few more widgets to the iPhone, and I for one would like to see this one.

ditto! How about integrating the ability to have your phone "ping" when a flight has landed or taken off, or at least automatically configure the app to send you email for those events?
While we're at it how about a Travelocity app?
I suppose you can always go to other websites for these things, but applets tend to be "designed" for the small phone screen and capabilities...

Logic's EXPORT TRACK(S) feature is buggy. Anyone else noticing this?

I'm curious to know what Logic's "export track(s)" functions are specifically designed for. I say specifically because I can't quite pinpoint how they work exactly. Meaning, if a track has sends or sidechain processing etc etc those effects are NOT APPLIED to the exported track. Further, I've noticed static in a file (which doesn't have static in the mix) appear on an exported track, also I've experienced out of sync delays and other issues.
My first question is: has anyone else found the export track feature in Logic to be somewhat inefficient, and if so, have you found a suitable work around?
Second question: What is the Export tracks function specifically designed for? It's not designed to print certain effects on tracks and it doesn't apply any sends data either.
Please chime in with any thoughts. My personal workaround right now is to simply solo each track and bounce the project at the global level (for every individual track). I keep the output strip dry and it seems to be working fine so far (but quite tedious). I'm scratching my head to know what "export track(s)" is designed for.

Well you are right about the "live situation" scenario. This is why I'd like a "bounce all individual tracks seperately" option. It would facilitate exporting tracks for remixing or performance in Ableton Live. It's a lot nicer to have every track as it sounds in a mix than to have groups or stems when remixing or performing.Right now it just takes a while to solo and bounce every track in a 40+ track project. I just think it would be a very useful function.

I have recently noticed that my MacBook Pro Retina keeps freezing. I first noticed that the track pad would not work for short periods of time. Is anyone else having a problem?

For issues with video resolution not being consistent, I would start with resetting the NVRAM on your MacBook Pro. That will reset the resolution to its default as well as resetting other default settings like sound volume and start up volume. Widget Launcher... anyone else think it's needed?

Is anyone else left as frustrated and lost as i am when using the dashboard "dock" that os x uses by default to launch widgets?
It seems to me that the widgets i have are never where I want them to be. If i want to launch a specific widget, it seems like im scrolling through page after page for way too long, just to find the one I am looking for.
I think there needs to be a huge improvement to the usability of the dashboard. We should at least be able to drag and drop to edit the display order of the widgets in the tray to put those we use most frequently on the first "page".
I think an iPhone-Like interface on a new widget that acts as a launcher for widgets would work great, we just need something that allows widgets to be located and launched quickly and easily.

I do think it can be messy, and poorly worded errors or even what it will do.
I still can't for some unknown reason(s).
It does work, but maybe only in a pristine lab clean room pure environment.
Likely those pre-existing conditions are still haunting your iPod. Seriously.
I made the mistake of not having my married computer and account handy and just wanted to plug into A computer. Not as safe as thought. And then had to wait for some special iPod A/C plugs so I could recharge and work / use it without being tethered to its one and one monogomous partner.
We have three computers with three accounts on each. Works fine, but not when the "WRONG" computer, or wrong account is the one open and you are absent minded tired or wish you could just "use" the device (all the computers have the same Apple ID btw).

Look at it this way: there is no need to record that effect onto the audiofile. This is a great advantage of modern recording, and this is how most DAW's work by default. Just leave the plugin on when playing back.
Only for CPU management reasons it may be advantageous in certain situations to either freeze a track or bounce it in place (both techniques will render an audiofile that may include the effect). But in general it is a (very) good thing that it is possible to tweak any effect after recording, and have a clean, unprocessed recorded signal to work with. And if the effect was perfect at the time of recording, well, just leave the plugin(s) engaged.

Using MONO sources on audio tracks, is anyone else seeing buggy performance

When recording guitar or vocals they are mono tracks so I try to bring them in as mono into L8.
I am noticing a few different problems that happen VERY regularly, and I was wondering if anyone else was seeing these issues. I know that the word 'bug' is frowned at if it is user error, and in this instance, they clearly are behaving as bugs.
1) Sometimes when I create a new mono audio track, it does not come out of both speakers, EVEN THOUGH the output track is showing it going out of both.
2) If I click the little stereo/mono button on the track to switch back and forth, many times it stops playing audio altogether, and doesn't switch between the single meter or the dual meter. It gets stuck on the dual.
3) If I create a mono to stereo plugin, audio many times just comes out one side OR not at all processed, like it is bypassing the effect altogether. iZotope seems to have this problem the most.
I never know which problem I am going to get. The worst is when the audio just stops coming out altogether, but it is very frustrating for using MONO sources.
I have tested and tested and tested this to make sure I was not doing something stupid. Has anyone else experimented with this? Are you seeing this as well?

Yep, just fired up my feature film that I went through and perfected the audio levels a couple weeks ago and now they are all screwed up. The levels are not what they were two weeks ago.
Maybe this is a Limiter effect bug.

Currency Tracker Widget not working

Anyone else have their Apple Currency Tracker Widget not working - when I drop it on my dashboard it shows up but cannot be edited - when I try and click on the i button nothing happens - any ideas??

Is anyone else having problems with the Canon Online Store?

In the last month or so, I've had one problem after another with the Canon Online Store; from being unable to delete items from the shopping cart; to not being able to add "in stock" items; disappearing Wish Lists; and just now, I tried to add one lens cap to the 6 or 7 items I already had in the Shopping Cart, and they disappeared.
I've called, more than once, and I've written, also more than once, to Canon Support about this, but they ignore what I tell them, and tell me there are no problems with the Online Store. They don't even seem to report to anyone that anyone has complained, because each time is "the first time", even though I've called (more than once) and written (more than once) to them about continuing Online Stores problems.
Is anyone else having problems with the Canon Online Store?
Why does Canon not care to track reported problems with the storefront part of their web-site?
I'm not trying to insult Canon, it's just that I've been a Canon customer for less than 3 months, and the're only batting .333, so far. Canon Support was very quick to respond about a concern I had that a 50mm f/1.4 I had just purchased was authentic or not. In trying to register that lens, I looked up on the Canon web site where to find the serial number. Since my new lens did not have any numbers there, I was concerned I had been sold a fake. But, then Canon Support sent me link to a different online document that showed a few different places where it might be, and there it was.
Is Canon like that with other problems, as well? Or is their "batting" average better than my very limited experience?
I just love my Rebel T5i, and my Canon lenses (from "the Kit brothers of the Cropped Frame coral": EF-S 18-55mm f/3.5-5.6 IS STM, and EF-S 70-300mm f/4-5.6 IS USM; to the "Truly Nifty Fifty", the 50mm f/1.4 USM, [the f/1.8 is just a "thrifty fifty"], and finally, the "Super-Macro" MP-E 65mm f/2.8 1x-5x Macro)!

I only use my desktop PC to access Canon's web site, and I've been using Mozilla Firefox for years. And, yes, it is the latest version. Since Canon REFUSES to support the use of Firefox on it's web site, WHAT BROWSER DOES CANON SUPPORT? WHEN did Canon STOP SUPPORTING Firefox?
I've been told that there are 2 pending orders in my account. Yet, I NEVER placed those orders! WHY CAN'T CANON SEE THAT THIS IS A PROBLEM???
Instead of off-target suggestions, and pasted boilerplate REFUSALS TO EVEN LOOK at this issue, I would prefer it if Canon went "old school", and FIXED THE PROBLEM, in the first place! But, maybe that's a bit too grown up of an answer for you!
"Award-winning" support??? And, just exactly WHAT AWARD did Canon "support" WIN for CONSISTANTLY IGNORING REPORTED PROBLEMS??? The OSTRICH?
