Is Appleworks part of iLife?

I "lost" my Appleworks application after an erase and reinstall and I understand I can get it back from my installation CD. However I am considering upgrading to iLife '06 and wondered if Appleworks is included in that "software bundle". I would save me the hassle of getting the ap back from the CD.

AppleWorks is not part of iLife '06. It's also not packaged with any version of Mac OS X. It used to come bundled with 'consumer level' Macs (eg iMac, iBook), but no longer.
If you bought one of these consumer level Macs then AppleWorks can be found on the CD/DVD which came with that Mac. I can't tell you how to do this as it's different for many Macs. But if you search this Forum you'll find other people asking how to reinstall AppleWorks, and you should find the answer for your particular Mac.

Do you have access to another Mac with a disk drive?  If so you can do it in one of two ways:
1 - on the Mac with the optical drive launch Disk Utility and make a disk image of the iLife 11 disk. Connect the two Macs together and transfer the disk image to your MacBook Air.  Mount the disk image and install from it.  I have my iLife disks saved that way for quick and easy reinstall when necessary.
2 - connect the two Mac together so you can access the MBA from the Mac with the disk drive. Insert the iLife disk, and install from the second Mac to the MBA.

  • Purchased new macbook pro 13" and missing some parts of ilife

hi, i just bought the macbook pro 13 yesterday in best buy store and overall works fine but missing some parts of ilife software - like imovie, garage band, etc.  i do have iphoto.   I don't want to pay for this in the app store as should have come with the system, any idea how i get this resolved?

it's ok. There's still a way to get them for free from apple. It appears the prior owner (since it was open box) registered the computer to their Apple ID. If you go to selfsolve.apple.com you can scan them a copy of your receipt and give them the serial number of the machine. Once they log that on their end you can call 800-APL-CARE and have them authorize the machine to be able to download iLife for free.

  • Iphoto 11/Part of Ilife does not display all photos in "photos" or "events"

I am running latest version of everything, just loaded ILife. Iphoto 11 does not show "ALL" photos when I use "photo" or "event" view. It shows some....when I cycle down through the Blank images in these views, it will often show the pictures as I mouse click down.....but as soon as I take my finger off the mouse, everything (well, almost everything) reverts to blanks.
There is nothing selected to be hidden.
I have "Faces" set up and now when i look through an individual "Face" file, there will be intermittent Blanks.
    Very screwy, anybody Help????

    Option 1
Back Up and try rebuild the library: hold down the command and option (or alt) keys while launching iPhoto. Use the resulting dialogue to rebuild. Choose to Rebuild iPhoto Library Database from automatic backup.
    If that fails:
    Option 2
Download iPhoto Library Manager and use its rebuild function. This will create a new library based on data in the albumdata.xml file. Not everything will be brought over - no slideshows, books or calendars, for instance - but it should get all your albums and keywords, faces and places back.
Because this process creates an entirely new library and leaves your old one untouched, it is non-destructive, and if you're not happy with the results you can simply return to your old one.

  • IPhoto part of ilife '11 will not start after fresh Lion re-install

iphoto 9 will not start. It is from my ilife 11 disc.
Oh, I buy a new hard drive. I install lion successfully. All software works as it should. iphoto is installed then automatically updated by the auto update. Now iphoto will not open and says that it needs updating. I run automatic update and it says everything is up-to-date.
I found another post about downloading the iphoto 9 update and running that but it will not let me. So my iphoto is useless at the moment.
Can anyone help or has any ideas. I do not want to re-buy iphoto 9 on Apps store when I already have it (in theory anyhow)
    Thanks

    Go to
    http://support.apple.com/downloads/
Find and download the 9.1 updater. Run it. Then Run Software update again.

  • IPhoto (part of iLife)

I'm new to forums, so bear with me! have just installed the upgrade iPhoto'11 (and the other 2 Apps on the CD). However I cannot access the help part of them. I start off with the message "The help page you are trying to open has not been downloaded to your computer yet" I click on the Greyed out Download button, but am returned to the original message. I've tried with safari on screen and with it off to no avail. Any suggestions as to how I can download the help for these applications please?

Hey Eddie, Im new to the forums but great at Mac OS.
first i think the problem needs to be narrowed down some, to see if its system wide, or if its user specific.
Try creating a test account on the computer, log into that, open iPhoto 11 there and test the help menu.
If it works fine, or allows you to download, then go ahead and download the help files, and re log into your normal account and verify that now it works.
If it doesn't work in the test account, then it would be a system wide issue, and more than likely would need to be reinstalled.
if it works fine in the test account after downloading the help files, but not in your main account, then quit iphoto.
    go here:
user/library/caches/ and look for a folder called com.apple.iphoto, and/or folder that says iPhoto
drag them both to the desktop (if removing these has any major effect on iphoto they can then be put back)
also go to: user/library/preferences and delete any file or folder here that says iphoto on it.
then retry iphoto. it should work then
let us know how it goes

  • IWeb not included with iLife?

I bought my late 2009 27" iMac 4 months ago, which came with the iLife package. On the box, it showed that it included, as part of ilife; iPhoto, iMovie, GarageBand, and iWeb. My computer is fine, but iWeb was never installed. At all. I am not sure why, maybe im not qualified? it says on the box and in the manual, so i believe there should be a reasonable explanation for this. Hopefully someone here can help me find out how I can get my included iWeb.. i believe it includes the 2009 ilife package, and i should mention too that idvd was included (not sure if that is part of another ilife package possibly??)
    Model Identifier : iMac10,1
    System serial number : QP0251LJ5PE
    Hardware UUID : 0E9B8894-2064-555D-9E5E-44495199D708

iWeb is included in iLife. Just  you are saying it's not located in the Applications Folder. If you cannot see it still use Spotlight symbol (magnifying glass symbol in the upper right of your screen) and type iWeb. If it's not on your system you can install it from the Original iLife restore disc that came with your computer.

  • I am not able to update iPhoto, iMovie and garageband on my macbook pro. these three apps came installed with ilife suite.

I am unable to update iphoto, imovie, and Garageband on my Macbook Pro.  I understand that these apps are part of ilife suite.  Purchased Macbook at Best Buy January 2012.  All software is updated.  I recieve message asking me to sign into account that I purchased these apps from.  I am signed in , however I did not purchase these apps they came on Macbook.  I also tried deleting Garageband and re-installing it. Now Garageband says accept but Macbook will not accept.  Anyone else have this problem and were you able to resolve it.

The fact that they were preinstalled is why they are supposed to appear in the Purchased pane, in a temporary area labeled Purchases, for you to accept. Not doing so soon after you got the Mac has messed this process up.
    To get things back on track properly try these steps;
    Updating Pre-installed iLife apps -
1 - Log out and quit iTunes and the Mac App Store (MAS)
2 - Go to System Prefs/Users & Groups/~user/Password and enter the Apple ID connected to your iTunes/Mac App Store account. Close Sys Prefs
    3 - Delete /Mac HD/Library/Caches/com.apple.appstore/adoption.plist
    4 - Reboot your Mac
5 - Open Mac App Store
6 - Go to the Purchased pane and Accept the three iLife apps. Enter iTunes/MAS username/password if prompted.

  • Processor limitations with iLife '04

I have a Powerbook with a 500 MHz processor and 512 mbs of RAM. I'm currently using iMovie 2 running 10.4.3 and want to move up to iMovie 4. I gather that in order to get iMovie 4 I'm obliged to buy it as part of iLife. If that's the case, all I want to install from iLife 04 is just iMovie (because the processor isn't fast enough to handle all the applications). Is there the option to install only iMovie 4 or will it install all the applications?

you increase the chance to get a reply on YOUR question dramatically, by not jacking a thread, but posting your own one..
as long as your Mac came along with a superdrive, you should have pre-installed iDVD2 on it, or should find it on the included installer disks.... ?
as I wrote, I was able to install iLife5 on my much too small Cube (no specs check); I don't have a clue, wether iLife6 "asks" the specs before installing... (some apps can not be installed on systems below recommended specs...)
have you tried ebay (or whatever) to get iLfe4/5 (3 is not recommended!)?
the compression is too great when I drag the file to Toast 7 - the quality was dreadful - so computer shop advised that I export to Quicktime full quality - my film was 42minutes in length and the last 4 minutes wouldn't go on the DVD
sorry, my english isn't very good, I don't catch that one....??
    a) iDVD (and Toast) allow files of up to 120min
    b) "compression is too great" wot? you can not set any rates in iDVD or Toast
    c) 42min fit... with any app on any dvd...
    d) no, DVDstandalones don't accept QTfiles... you need to "author" a videoDVD, with VIDEO_TS and AUDIO_TS in a very specific file format.. all that can be accomplished with iDVD (or Toast)
    e) Toast 6.1. (or higher) allows a direct drag'n drop of iMproject files... no need to export as QT/FullQuality
    helpful?

  • HT4411 iLife '11 System requirements?

"Not readable by this computer" would tend to indicate the iLife '11 install DVD cannot be read on a Core2Duo iMac running OS 10.6.8.
Apple's support document <iLife: System requirements> ends with iLife '09, system requirements for '11 are nowhere to be found on Apple's iLife site/pages.
The iLife '11 box says: "Intel processor, 1GB RAM, 5GB disk space, DVD drive, 10.6.3 or later" then refers to the document above for more info.
A search of Apple's app store for "iLife" or "iLife '11" turns up no iLife and no iLife DVD, only individual iPhoto, iMovie and GarageBand:
iPhoto '11 requires 10.7.5 or later, no CPU specs.
iMovie '11 requires 10.7.4, no CPU specs.
Garage Band requires 10.6.8 or later (suggesting it's been abandoned), no CPU specs.
No iWeb, no iDVD..... and cannot download any of it from the app store anyway.
So why can't a machine with "Intel processor, 1GB RAM, 5GB disk space, DVD drive, 10.6.3 or later" even READ the install DVD in the box?
We went looking for iPhoto for OS 10.6.8 - like it says on the iLife DVD box - but apparently iPhoto version 8.1.2 is what we need. Was it part of iLife '09?

Thank you, Terence. Quite right, lots of changes, versions, Systems. Confusing as all get out! And the only thing worse than no information is wrong information. Would be nice to see that iLife requirements doc HT3876 get updated. Didn't stick around long enough to know which version of iPhoto I had, but it was wanting to update immediately.
Larry called it, was a bad DVD. My (family pack iLife '11) DVD installed perfectly on that Core2Duo/10.6.8. iMac. Defective DVD will have to go back to Amazon or wherever it came from. Too bad Apple refuses to sell anything that's more than a week old, gives rise to situations just like this one.
    Thank you gentlemen!
Noooo! I did NOT just click my own 'solved' button, did I? I clicked Larry's! Dang! Undo! Undo!
Larry, I'm sorry, I can't fix it. You were RIGHT. I'm going back to a pad and pencil now....

  • ILife 08 files getting corrupt under 10.5

I've had Leopard installed since release and not long after noticed that many of the podcasts I was downloading were becoming corrupt and not playing properly. Usually they'd play for a bit then just end. I thought it was just a bug as a few people I knew were having the same problem so waited for 10.5.1, but once I installed that I noticed it was still happening. Now I've installed 10.5.2 and the problem is still there, not only with podcasts but any mp3 I add to iTunes 08 and recently any new photos I add to iPhoto 08. The files seem fine for a bit, then the actual jpeg or mp3 file just won't open properly after a while. My guess now is it's got something to do with FileVault, but just wondered whether anyone else had come across this problem, and possibly a solution.. ?

FYI, iTunes isn't part of iLife anymore. It's free.

  • Newly installed ilife 6 - iphoto not recognized

    Hello all,
I was having problems with my iphoto 4 not uploading my pictures so decided to upgrade my ilife software to 6. Everything installed fine except for iPhoto, I click the icon to open and nothing happens and now the icon changed to the paper / letter A icon. I looked at the system requirements and I believe I'm okay. Anyone have any ideas or solutions for me?
    Much appreciated!

    rebknell
This looks like a faulty install.
Drag the iPhoto application from your Applications Folder to the trash
then go to HD/Library/Receipts and delete any pkg file with iPhoto in the name.
Then re-install iPhoto - you can do a custom install, you don't have to re-install all the other parts of iLife.
    Don't forget to repair permissions.

  • ILife 04 install

I have spent the last three weeks trying to order a photobook, but after repeated corespondence with mac support I finally found out that my old iMac and system can't order from anywhere other that US or Canada. So, the answer I think is to install the latest version of iLife that my system will work with, that is iLife 04 (I think ). So I bought iLife 04 on ebay, but everytime I try to install it, I get a message telling me that I am running one or more of the applications, and it cannot install until these applications are shut down. I was not running anything, I restarted and installed again ....... same message, I used force quit and it told me that nothing except finder was running, yet when I tried to install.......same message. Can somebody please help.

Hi and Welcome to Apple Discussions!
    You are saying:
"I am running one or more of the applications, and it cannot install until these applications are shut down"
    1. Press "Command" (Apple) key and "Tab" to see what apps. are running.
    2. Any open and running applications will be listed in icon form, if you see any that belong to iLife then click on that icon in the dock, (if it's there) to select it and press "Command" and "Q" to quit.
    3. If the icon is not in the dock - open Finder > your computer name > Applications > and select the iLife folder to open and find the running app. - as noted when checking at 1.
    4. Click on the app. to select it and press "Command + Q" to quit it.
That should allow you now to upgrade your iLife app.
By the way, you should still be able to use your older version - (iLife 02 I believe) - for a short while anyway! as stated here ..
"Can I place orders using iPhoto 2?
As of October 15, 2007, the ordering of books or prints will no longer be supported using iPhoto 2. >To order prints, or a book you've created, you can upgrade to the latest version of iPhoto, available >as part of iLife '08. Once upgraded, any book you have previously created will be available for >further enhancing and ordering. If you have an older system that does not support iLife '08, you >can use iPhoto from an older version of iLife. iLIfe '04, '05 and '06 will continued to be supported.
If you upgrade to iLife '08, you'll find that iPhoto offers a host of new book themes, double-sided >pages, and many new layout options that help make your books look better than ever. This latest >version of iPhoto also lets you create your own custom greeting cards and photo calendars. For >more information on iPhoto and the rest of the applications that make up iLife '08, please visit >www.apple.com/ilife/."

  • Install iLife 06 now, or wait for my RAM?

I just bought iLIfe 06 and would like to install it onto my Mac right away, but I also just ordered 1 GB of RAM which could take up to 14 days to get here.
I really want to play around with iLife and try out all its fun new features (i'm upgrading from iPhoto 2 and iMovie 3, i don't think these apps were part of iLife back when I got my PB 3 years ago).
Can I install iLife right now (I am running with 384 mb RAM), or do I have to wait until I install my GB of RAM. I know it will run better with the RAM upgrade, but I just want to know if I have to wait to install it until my RAM comes. THANKS for your help!

Memtest is a very thorough memory tester, I'm not surprised it is taking quite a bit longer to test. I like to use the program rember, which wraps a nice graphical interface around the memtest program. Last time I used it, I fired up the test and let it run overnight. With rember (and I would assume native memtest), you can choose verbose logging, so you can watch the results as it tests the memory, or if you put it on multiple iterations overnight, you can read the test log in the morning.
You also have a memory test in your Apple hardware test program. Insert the OS X DVD that came with your system (it will say AHT Version x.x in small print on the DVD), reboot holding the option key down, choose Apple hardware test, and follow directions. When testing memory, choose the extended test.
