Is Full Automation Possible In DIAdem V9.1?

Hi all
I wonder if i can fully automate my DIAdem V9.1 application.
Here's what i have at the moment:
From time to time a wIndows application writes a new datafile containing ASCII data to the PC's harddrive.
The files are named 00001-Date.daf, 00002-Date.daf, 00003-Date.daf...  and so on.
The .daf file is nothing exotic, it's simply an ASCCI file containig data for two channels. I use the extension .daf only
to get a unique file extension.
Then i doubleclick on the DIAdem icon.
I have modified the destination path of the icon in this way:
"C:\Programme\National Instruments\DIAdem 9.1\DIADEM.exe" "/CScriptStart('"E:\DIAdemWork\Manni01.vbs"')"
DIAdem starts, and runs the Manni01.vbs script.
The script will open a FileNameGet dialogue, and the user has to select one of the .daf files.
The selected .daf file will automatically be imported, displayed and analysed.
This works fine, but, as you see, the user has to select the file to be imported.
Since this has to be done inside DIAdem, it cannot be automated further.
It would be much nicer, if the name of the file to be processed could be transferred to DIAdem as
a program start parameter, similar to the name of the starting script.
The other application could then start DIAdem with this filename as a parameter. DIAdem could
process the datafile and NO user interaction would be required to select the file.
As a nice side-effect, a simple double-click on a .daf file in windows explorer could also open
DIAdem and automatically process the data.
How can i transfer a filename to DIAdem at startup?
Note: The filename must be recognizable in the autostart script, and there must be a way
to examine IF a file was given as a parameter.
Manfred

Hi Manfred,
Here are a couple of hacks you might be able to put together to get to where you are trying to get:  First it is possible to hack the registry to start the program you want to start when a file with a given extension is double clicked from the explorer.  Second it is possible to set a variable in DIAdem from the comand line.
Hacking the registry (You should only do this if you really know what you're doing.  Just playing around could really mess up your system.)
1.) Open regedit.
2.) Go to HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT and create a key called ".daf".  Set its value to anything you want -- I suggest "daffile"
3.) Also in HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT create a key called "daffile" (or whatever you chose in step 2 for the value).
4.) In the new daffile key create a key called "shell".
5.) In the new shell key create a key called "Open" (or whatever you want).  The name of this key will be used by explorer in the context menu item for files of this type.
6.) In the new Open key create a key called "command".
7.) Set the value of this key "command" to the startup command for DIAdem.  Using the start up string you suggested below, this would be "C:\Programme\National Instruments\DIAdem 9.1\DIADEM.exe" "/CScriptStart('"E:\DIAdemWork\Manni01.vbs"')"
In the command key, %1 can be used to represent the file that was clicked.  You could theoretically set a DIAdem variable to the file name using this fact.  The command line argument would probably look something like /CT1:=%1.  (in the old AUT autosequence syntax.)  Then you can access the variable that you set using this in your script.  I haven't tried the command line  out, so you'll probably have to tweak it a bit.  I'm pretty sure you can send two commands in the command line.
The drawback to this approach is that it will probably always start a new DIAdem and not open your file in a DIAdem which is already open.
Hope that helps,
Myrle
P.S.  Have you considered writing a VBS DataPlugin to read your file format?  Simple ASCII files are usually dead easy to write DataPlugins for.  Then you could use the file system inside of DIAdem to browse, and drag and drop from the Navigator into the Portal would automatically work.  The documentation for the DataPlugin API can be found here: http://www.ni.com/diadem/dataplugins.htm

  • Is Automation possible in SAP BW

    Hi,
I am working in BW testing (manual testing). Is there any way that BW automation testing (like using ECATT, QTP tools)can be done?
Can anyone help me out in this.

    Hi,
Automation is possible ECATT, QTP tools but ECATT it's old version it gives a comparison on the screens expected and the messages if any and it cannot compare the values.
QTP and SAP TAO is the latest versions if you use QTP we will write QTP script.

  • Is batch automation possible in lightroom?

I'm converting about 800 pictures from color to black and white for a bible study that will be printed . Ive tried several ways of converting using modes and techniques I found on other sites in photoshop but wasnt happy with results. These pictures are of landscapes and people. They all seemed either fuzzy or detail was lost so I decided to give Lightroom a try. I found lots of presets in the adobe marketplace for b & w conversion and wanted to know if batch automation was possible once I found one that I was happy with.

    WMMinistry wrote:
Which preset works best for black and white conversion of portraits?
That will depend on each image really, just experiment to find the one that works best for your purposes, it will depend on the file type as well - some are developed for raw and others for jpeg or tiff files. You can undo the application of a preset easily withe the usual undo command. Try testing on a Virtual Copy of one image.

  • Half-pedaling through automation possible ?

    Hi,
I just bought a sustain pedal for my keyboard, and off course it's either off or on.
Is it possible by using automation ........... or any other method .................. to 'suggest' half-pedalling ?
By that, I mean that the sustain sound is partially reduced but not completely gone.
    Thanks,
    Kay.

I just opened the box containing the update CD to check out the User Manual. and it simply says that there's a button which activates the Half Pedalling feature ( on one of the interfaces naturally ) and that if my MIDI controller supports a continuous damper pedal, I can explore the expressive capability of this style of pedalling.
My keyboard (STudioLogic 990) has one jack socket for a sustain pedal so I guess that's OK, but I guess as you first suggested, I'll need to change this pedal for a more advanced one. I bought the VFP 1/25 from Fatar, thinking it would match my Fatar keyboard !
Thanks for your help. I'll watch the youtube video in a little while.

  • Connect iMac 24inch to a 40inch LCD Full HD, possible?

    Hey guys,
I have an intel iMac 24inch (the complete white one) and I was wondering if I could attach my Sony 40W2000 Full HD to it, and still get a full hd view on my Sony?
Is it possible? If so, what is the best way to do it?
    Thx,
    Maxim

I think you would need to get the mini-DVI to (full) DVI adapter.
    http://store.apple.com/1-800-MY-APPLE/WebObjects/AppleStore.woa/wa/RSLID?mco=7E4 EB91E&nplm=M9321G/B
From there, use a DVI to HDMI cable to connect to the HDTV.
    http://store.apple.com/1-800-MY-APPLE/WebObjects/AppleStore.woa/wa/RSLID?mco=7E5 08A9A&nplm=TL952LL/A
There are several different DVI connectors, so make sure its the one that fits the adapter.
DVI does not carry audio, so you'll have to run that separately, off the iMac's headphone mini-stereo jack.
I've done this with a Power Mac G5, but not an iMac. The HDTV shows up on the Mac as the second display. You can adjust resolution, arrangement, and color using System Preferences Displays pane.

  • Is even simple automation possible

in our workplace we now need to:
    1 find a file
    2 double click it
    3 select automations under Metadata
4 click "Send proxy to FTP"
    5 click save changes
2 automation clicks is all that is needed. Is there ANY way to automate this rather than doing it all by hand. Apple, can you make FCS scriptable PLEASE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Yes, a manual "automation" is requiring those steps. I've tried to add a tickbox in the list view or in the thumbnail view, or in the first page after double click (Asset metadata), but I couldn't do it.
To organically fit your "automation" in a workflow could be done at the time of ingestion (assuming you'd already know from which assets you'd want to send the proxy to an FTP).
Create an ingest-and-send-proxy-to-ftp watch folder and create a watcher followed by a subscription to get your proxy to the FTP fully automated.
You could also consider some scripting outside of Final Cut Server using the XML-write / XML-read principle. At the time of ingestion you could have FCS to automatically write an xml. Whenever you need the proxy to be sent to the FTP, your external script could send a read-xml to FCS with a trigger to upload the proxy to FTP.
What I'd like to know from you is how did you get: "Automations under Metadata" and "Send proxy to FTP"?
Is "Automations" a metadata group custom made by your administrator? and is "Send proxy to FTP" one of the automations created by the administrator?
And finally: the action "Send Proxy to FTP", how is it done? Is this done by a script which is getting the proxy file and duplicating this to the FTP, or is it done by copying the file to FTP with the transcode setting for the proxy file (i.e. recreating rather than duplicating)?
    Thanks, Henk

  • Is Chromatic Automation Possible?

    Hey,
I'm currently making drills for vocal lessons in garage band. A single chord's individual notes are played sequentially, followed by the next chromatic chord's individual notes.

    Can this be automated?
not "push a button, it's done", no.
you could create a pitch curve in the Master track, which is easy and fairly quick. open GB's help and search for "curve"

  • Full automated install???

Hello, I windows there is an executable that Oracle provides to automatically create an instance form a batch file. That command is like:
C:\Oracle\Ora92\bin\oradim.exe -new -sid MyDB -startmode m -pfile c:\oracle\ora92\database\initMyDB.ora
Does Oracle provide a similar way of doing this in Unix? I need to supply a complete automated installation procedure to a customer that will only assume that the Oracle database software is installed. I will provide scripts that will create the instance, create the database and setup the tablespaces. Then it will create the user and all associated objects. If you can do this in Window, I would assume you can do this on Unix???

  • After Effects wont render full res - possible RAM issue?

Not sure if this has ever come up before - I'm unable to render out of after effects and RAM preview half res. When I try and RAM preview the comp just goes black and when I send it to render I get the following message:
After Effects warning: Logged one error - "error Rendering while writing to file. An output module failed. The file may be damaged or corrupted(-1610153464)"
I'm able to RAM preview half res okay, and can render out half res as well. I've tried it with rendering multiple frames simultaneously on and off, clearing the disk cache and turning off any RAM hogging effects.
An obvious cause I've identified is that I've recently upgraded and replaced the RAM on my machine, however, after effects has been the only software effected. Cinema 4D renders no problems and I've had no other problems with the general running of my machine.
Have there ever been any cases before of After Effects not working with certain types of RAM?
    My set up -
    Mac Pro - Early 2008
    OSX Mavericks 20.9.2
    2 x 2.8 Ghz Quad-Core Intel Xeon
    16GB 800MHz DDR2 FB-DIMM
    250GB Samsung SSD

I'm running After Effects CC 12.2.1.5
Sorry should have mentioned, no matter what format I render as, whether it be QT or TIFF sequence, I still get the exact same error.
QT version i'm using is 7.6.6
In terms of reproducing the error, it seems to happen to pretty much anything I try and render, unless it's an extremely simple one layer comp. Rendering a comp with 2 image sequence layers (1920 x 1080) will cause this to happen, but if there's just the one image sequence alone in the comp (and no other layers) then it will render.

  • Choose different audio tracks in PE10 full version possible?!

Oky, I have tested this with Adobe PE10, but WHERE do I choose which audio track I want to import/use in the timeline?! Where can I see if the clip has more than 1 stream in Adobe Premiere Elements 10? I have tried looking in settings etc., but no luck. I KNOW that my video got 4 different audio tracks in it, but when I add the media to Adobe PE10 (it's a .m2ts-format file), only 1 stream (the DEFAULT audio stream, which is the WRONG stream) is what I get. Where are the other 3 audio streams, and how can I use them? It's nothing special about the clip itself. I can play the audio and video in the timeline, it just got the wrong audio stream...
I am asking because I see many articles/posts that mention you can do this in PE10, but I don't understand where... So far I have yet to find ANY video editing software that supports this.
And converting the audio FROM the .m2ts-file using a 3rd-party program is out of the question as well. If it does not work with PE10, then I have to find another solution, I suppose.

You do not have the option of choosing between the main track and the dub track from a video clip in Premiere Elements, Goodie. You just get the main track. So if that's what you're talking about, you'll need to look elsewhere. Though I'm not sure where because I don't know ANY video software that does this. What makes you think it's even available?
The exception is when you're shooting in 5.1 audio in AVCHD. If you've set your project up for 5.1 audio, you can control the level of each of the five tracks independently.

  • Full Automation From ingest to export ???

Here is my puzzle:  I'm an NBA photographer that uses 8 cameras on game nights.  Each night we have to upload our entire take in JPEG form as the game progresses.  Some (if not all) of my cameras need raw white balance adjustments and other minor tweaks prior to JPEG conversion.  So here's my question:
My dream would be to have a target folder for each camera that I would drop the raw files into and have Lightroom spit out the coverted/corrected JPEGs (specific for each camera) into another folder ready for uploading.
    Really appreciate any suggestions !

Thanks Butch.  By "tweaks" I didn't really mean to each image, it's more of a global adjustment for each camera.  Having a develop preset for import could easily take care of that as you mention.  I could have been more clear on that. These photos go directly into distrbution so this is really the only chance I have to touch them.  For me there are really 3 problem cameras.  One is a medium format back on a Hasselblad that only shoots raw.  The others are older Canon's that are plagued with wierd color (fixable with a global adjustment).
The watched folder idea is an interesting one that I'm now looking at.  It does not look like you can export in this process but it does apply develop, metadata, keywords presets, and then renders previews - all this ends up in a new folder.  Makes me wonder if I could set the preview size as 1:1 to get the JPEG file I need.  If not that then perhaps there is a way to automate the destination folder to output the jpeg files?
Here's the page on setting up a "watched folder"

  • Batch Automating Design update on 1000 InDesign files- Any ideas?

I have just been brought in to a new company that issues one page (and separately saved) biographies using inDesign. The biographies use a standard style, with a great deal of reoccurant information (company details, logo etc) and then some personal info that makes up the biography.
The company recently underwent a re-brand which now means some 1000 of these biographies are displaying incorrect logos, colour schemes, font, watermark, contact information and company details.
I want to amend this, upgrading them to the new style guidelines. And for my personal sanity would like to automate the process as much as possible. Any ideas on how best to tackle this would be greatly appreciated!
    My thoughts are as follows:
Partial Automation: - Perhaps I can export swatches, colour profiles and font settings from the updated templates and retrospectivly apply them to all the old ones. This would get me a good deal of the way there... but would still leave an issue on changing all new company details. If I could apply this in bulk I could flag the files for a small amount of editing next time they're needed.
Partial Automation: - Perhaps with a better understanding of the master pages tools I could create a default collection of swatches and space layout and import data into certain fields manually?
Full Automation: - I would love it if some combination of the above and InDesign scripts were possible to use to achieve this... but I am not optimistic. Perhaps the better idea is to use the exportallstories.js script to scrape all the relivant data from my old files. From there I would need to write a python file to identify the relivant fields (namely: Name, Title, biography). I could then migrate these details to a spreadsheet and save it as a .csv file. From here I might finally be able to re-import it back into my new template style using the <<Automated Data merge>> functions! It's a bit hieth robinson and would require some careful thinking on python expressions to get everything into .csv correctly.... but I think it's crazy enough to work. Any assistance on ideas here... or ideas about how I automate this to batch export to RTF (without 1000 tiedious "ok" dialog box clicks) would be greatly appreciated.
Any help, advice or pointers to relavant literature would be greatly appreciated.
    Other Info:
    I am on CS5
    Windows 8 (i know... i know...)
I can get a python IDE up and running pretty quickly
Am happy to migrate this to my native linux for some parts of this process if there are tools/i can use the command line to get things done quicker!
    Thanks
    aBoL

Thanks all for the replies, it's given me a great deal to think on.
I have discoved some of this information is helpfully stowed on their website. Am going to contact the IT guy... if i could scrape right off it or better yet get access to their mySQL or whatever perhaps that'd be the fastest way to make my magic .csv and then batch import all.
    As for plans b-z:
Eugene Tyson I looked into what you suggested about using books. I've still got a problem with importing all to one file if anyone knows a handy script that'd be much appreciated. I still obviously need to read up on master pages, when i've been dragging the style it seems to sandwich both the new style and old style together... so perhaps the data in isn't clean enough anyway (cleaning +1000 files would probably take longer than ctrl+c ctrl+v on all of em)
Peter, you're exactly right. Dirty in dirty out on data right? I've found that given that these files were all made with the same workflow, there is a great deal of consistancy. If its 100% i cannot yet tell, but if i export using the story export .js it seems to me i could either scalp off the bottom most five files (which seem to inevitably contain the valued data) or ponder clever if statements that will detect if it's got something that might be a name or just our latin placeholder text. But yes... i figure whatever a good deal of checking will be invovled.
Ariel, Your help would be greatly appreciated and I will pm you and anyone else who would be willing to get stuck into this challenge!! The main one for me right now would be the automated importing of files in bulk into a single story... perhaps the automated use of the other story export script... or if you were feeling extremely talented, doing all the work in indesign itself, opening files in sequence in a folder, stripping out the contents according to rules (that we could base on the regularity of it's content) or placement (they're generally in the same area) and saving that out to a txt file or even better a .csv!!
anyway I'm teetering between this being a fun challenge and a utter nightmare, but the looming idea of manual data entry is enough to propel me on. Any help / discussion or further thoughts would still be vastly appreciated!
thanks all and have a great weekend.

  • Recording Control Surface automation to a channel strip

    Hey guys,
I was wondering if anyone could help me.
I have a Novation Remote 25 SL which its perfectly connected with Logic as a Control Surface.
What I want is to record live all the moments i do with Mixer in Logic using Remote Sl as a Control Surface while my track is playing. I want to record it to one channel strip or somewhere were i can edit them later. Is it possible? Thanks in advance.

Read the automation section in the manual.
Basically - switch all channels you wish to automate into Latch mode to write automation. Put them back to read mode to avoid overwriting. Logic has full automation editing.

  • Can Automation be used to send User-defined CC's to Environment objects?

Hi, this is probably a really dumb question but I'll ask it anyway:
I've bought a controller-environment for a synth (Alphajuno2, PG300 programmer) for Logic, the faders in the environment layer use sysex to communicate with the synth.
Apparently it is possible to map an external midi-controller to these environment-faders, and that's all and fine, but what I'm after is a method of using automation to control the environment-faders. How would I go about doing it?
I've only ever really automated some volume changes or plugin parameter changes, I've not yet automated faders in the environment, so how would I go about doing it?
Would I create a fader which I'd link to the sysex-sending fader, and automate the fader, or maybe an environment-monitor (and add it to the arranger) and somehow configure a set of CC#'s to be automated with that arranger object, and then just cable them up to the various Sysex-sending faders (I do know enough to be able to set the input of those sysex-faders to match the CC#'s which the automation would be sending).
Is this kind of "User-defined CC#'s in Automation" possible? How should I go about it?
Message was edited by: esaruoho to further clarify it

Is it just because there is currently no way whatsoever of Automation CC, and I should have known to use Hyper Draw to talk to an Environment object directly, which would then be connected to the Faders of choice?
