Is it a complex task to translate between JMS and MQ?

Hello!
I wonder if it is a complex task to translate a JMS message (javax.jms.Message) to a MQ message (com.xxx.MQMessage)?
xxx=I do not remember the package name for MQMessage
Right now I participate in a project where we need to do this translation.
(I must admit that I thougt there was no need for a translation. I thought that JMS was transparent to MQ and vice versa. But I guess I was wrong)
I would love to hear some experiance and perhaps if there is some "best practice", please let me know!

Let's look at Wikipedia, shall we? Your own source tells me that WebSphere is ~40% of the market:

I'm even suspicious of these numbers, because I think they leave out the open source parts of the market. How do you quantify that? # downloads? # of systems in production? I'll bet that survey doesn't exist. And it looks different depending on whether we're talking about large or small companies.
Why don't you find some links to support your claim? You've done nothing but say "industry leading" and "guarantees 100%". Your "because I said so" isn't convincing, either.

Maybe if you are such a messaging expert you would have some reasons why the majority of the industry use MQ and not WebLogic even though WebLogic is supposedly better? Because the entire world isn't IBM anymore.
I worked on a Ministry of Justice project that used WebLogic application server and its JMS queues for a critical messaging component - and at least once every two weeks the queues would go down and there would be a mad rush to get them back up - this was probably a poorly configured installation of WebLogic, and is only one example, but it left me with a pretty poor opinion of the product.That's fair. I don't know anything about the version or the admins or the servers or even you. But if that's what your experience has been, I can't question it. Maybe I can question the competence of a Ministry of Justice (which country?) that doesn't seem to train their WebLogic and server admins properly. Maybe it's an organizational problem.
I can say that we have farms of WebLogic running on Solaris servers that are very reliable. I developed one app that faces out to the Internet that uses JMS, and that app hasn't had to come down in almost three years. Reliable enough?
WebSphere and WebLogic have been neck and neck in the Java EE app server space for a long time, each controlling 35-40% of the market. I think JBOSS and Glassfish are making some inroads there. Spring is making it possible to write enterprise apps that can be deployed on servlet/JSP engines.
And all of this discussion leaves out Microsoft, .NET, and MSMQ.
I would believe that MQ series has the lion's share of the middleware/messaging market, but I'd bet that it has less to do with the clear superiority of the product and more to do with the large legacy base that IBM has out there. It's a very old mainframe/COBOL/CICS kind of technology, and the organizations that brought it in tend to be large and conservative.
You didn't ask any questions about the OP's organization. I think that ought to factor into the discussion.
Oh, and by the way more than 80% of the companies on the Fortune 100 use WebSphere MQ - maybe you should inform them how rubbish it is?And 76.273% of all statistics are made up on the spot.
I'm not interested in convincing anybody of anything. It's my opinion that if I had a Java EE app server with JMS on it that I wouldn't bring in IBM's MQ Series just for the sake of having it. If there was a legacy system that I needed to integrate with that demanded I use MQ Series there'd be no question.
But why does it seem sensible to bring in yet another moving part, another expense, another separate piece to be configured and maintained and upgraded? Applications are hard enough to develop. I wouldn't use MQ Series for its own sake, and I'd challenge anybody who brought it in because "they said so".

Sharing complex substitution variable values between ASO and BSO databases

We have ASO and BSO Essbase database member names with spaces in, and need to store some of these member names in substitution variables. However, this has to be done differently for ASO and BSO, due to calc script syntax requiring double quotes and MDX requiring square brackets. For example:
ASO:
&CurWeek value = Week 1
MDX: [&CurWeek]
BSO:
&CurWeek value = "Week 1"
Calc Script: &CurWeek
As a result, the substitution variables cannot be shared between the ASO and BSO cubes, since the BSO variable value requires double quotes due to the space in the member name.
Is there a way to get the above to work with both ASO and BSO? Can the double quotes be escaped in calc script syntax? Or can the double quotes be removed in the MDX formula?

Apologies for such a late reponse to this, genuinely haven't had a spare second to reply until now!
Yes, I suspect a complex alias name may be the best solution here, and to remove the spaces from the actual member names.
I was not aware of the latter part at all. My colleague has confirmed as much on this too - DBAG 11.1.2.1 pp117 & 118:
"Note: If a substitution variable value is numeric or a member name starting with a
numeral or containing the special characters referred to above is to be used both
in MDX and non-MDX situations, create two substitution variables, one without
the value enclosed in quotation marks and one with the value in quotation marks."
"To ensure that a new substitution variable value is available in formulas, partition definitions,
and security filters, stop and restart the application. All other uses of substitution variables are
dynamically resolved when used."
This last paragraph is the most concerning since we were planning to be able to update substitution variables values and then access the new values from calc scripts and formulae instantaneously. This quirk is unexpected and a little inconvenient. We may have to look at scheduling a change of substitution variable value overnight, followed by a stop/start of the app ready for the next day, and to work around needing to access changed values instantly.

Why can't I translate between Swedish and Polish in the same Word document. This means I want to switch between two keyboards.

Why can't I get a Polish keyboard easily accessible from within my Word program? I have to choose it in Finder and then I can't switch back and forth between English/Swedish and Polish in the same Word document. In short, you choose the three keylayouts you wish to use for English, Polish, and Swedish, respectively, and then you set the shortcuts you prefer to use to switch between them.

I am working on exchange rate configuration. If we define exchange Ref currency in the table for defining exchange rate type, SAP says that if we are using multiple currencies then we need not feed translation rates between each and every
currency but just between reference currency and foreign currencies.
I am using 3 foreign currencies (X1,X2,X3) and one local or reference (BMD) currency.
I have defined the translation rates between (X1 -> BMD, X2 -> BMD, X3 -> BMD). Now I want to test if translation between X1 and X2 takes place
correctly or not. How can I test this ? How can I prototype this in afunction module ?

How to distinguish between enabled and disabled tasks in SSDT-BI 2012

Hi,
I've got SSDT-BI 2012 together with VS2012 installed. Simple questions: What is the difference between enabled and disabled tasks in control flow from the design/color point of view? I do see that the disabled tasks changes to grey (omg are you really kidding
me????) from black. This could be a bad joke or dream however is not.
So I'm kindly asking you to help me solve this problem. How can I change the color difference between these two options (enabled task vs disabled task)? I do not care whether the one will be yellow or pink, simply just need to be recognizable at first
look and not under long and painful examination.

It’s true that it only changes the font color of the task name text to grey after disabling a task in SSDT 2012. In SSDT 2010, the whole task control including icon will turn grey after it is disabled; in BIDS, the background color of the task control will
turn grey after it is disabled. These behaviors are by design. Personally, I agree with you that this behavior in SSDT 2012 is not very readable.

How to create dynamic stages in parallel within Complex Task in BPM..?

 I have a requirement where in single participant type stages needs to be generated in parallel dynamically based on one collection type complex element.
 InputPayload for HumanTask is as below.

Translation - Reduce spacing between label and value

I have translated the text in multi languages. I am not able to adjust the gap between Text and input field.
For example:
Now displaying :
1. Lang   'EN' -> Customer : SAP
2. Lang   'FR' -> Client:        SAP
3. Lang   'DE' ->   kunde        SAP
I need to display as:
1. Lang   'EN' -> Customer : SAP
2. Lang   'FR' -> Client: SAP
3. Lang   'DE' ->   kunde: SAP
Concatenate could not be done as i have to display field label in bold.
So I want to reduce the gap between Field label and its content. Above example for english the gap is less but for other langauges gap or spacing is more. How to reduce the spacing?

If you are simply outputting this information from data bound to the form the you may be able to use a floating field instead of a field and caption. You can just use a text element and then go to Insert->Floating Field while editing the text. You can then bind the floating field to the data connection as usual and the length of the text will vary depending on the content at runtime.

Most of the times complexity depends on user requirement & what is available with you. But still there are some things which i feel technically complex that i am mentioning
1. Hierarchies are difficult to built in VC & also they are not user friendly as well. There is no workaround in VC 7.0 for this.
2. When you are working with nested iviews & you are passing input from on e view to another & also you have to control visibility of it as per input then its complex task.
3. If you are integrating VC with WAD this is also complex activity but it can be done.
4. If you are using horizontal or Vertical slider as a input this is also complex but it can be done.
If you have any specific complex activity for which you are looking for workaround please tell, i will try to answer.

Exchange Messages Between Foreground and Background Tasks

I'm working on an Application where I use background task for handling Bluetooth communication. For that, I'm trying to exchange messages between foreground and background tasks when the Bluetooth device sends
something and want to notify the foreground about it. Similarly, I want the foreground to send messages to background when the user activates something. I've started doing that using event handlers but it is not reliably working. Looks like the problem is
coming from the synchronization between these two tasks. I found the class BackgroundMediaPlayer which does what I really want , except controlling the media player. What are the options of doings that?

Difference between save and/or publish tasks

What's difference between save and/or publish tasks from project professional 2013 onto project server 2013 integrated with TFS?
For me its the same, if you exclude the integration with TFS in this scenario, that demands publishing, the tasks will be saved in project server anyway.

As a project owner when you create project plan from PWA or from Project Professional Once you save it means it will go to draft database and will be available to you in the server but you can not see it onto Project center.
Once you Click on Publish then project get publish and sits in publish database at the same time it will sync reporting database too. Once project get Publish then only all the team member who are associated with project will be able to see the project
in project center including you .
Also Users who are having either same RBS assigned to them or heigher to you will be able to see the project onto the project center.
Also All the resource will get notified and task assignment will be assigned to team members.
This is a same case for Project server with TFS integration and for normal .
Main Usability of Save is :
As a Project owner when you start Project scheduling you take time to finish it so everyday you can save it so that next day you can resume your work but in the middle of the scheduling work you wont want to show the data to your organization until- unless
you give it final touch .Once you complete it then only publish it so that it would be available to team members.

In the case of common memory threads naturally have shared data regions while it has to be specially created and initialized for tasks.

Release for use in the order: Released for Order means that you can use the task list in an order i.e. you could include operations from a task list in an order.
