Is it possible to invoke other software applications in labview?

Is it possible to invoke other software applications in labview? I would like to upload my files processed in Labview to my web based database. I have no basis of FTP and SQL. Providing that I have no Internet Database Toolkit installed in my computer. So, is it possible to "call" the software in Labview, just like calling a function or sub VI?

Do other software applications interfere with Photoshop?

Does putting digital audio workstation (DAW) [i.e. cubase] software with Photoshop (and other Adobe products) on the same machine interfere with each other?
Is this is a good idea, a bad idea, or a non-issue?
Machine has 8GB of ram and 750GB hard disk and I don't want to use a separate machine for recording and editing music but if I have to I have to.
I also have an external hard drive.

I've seen issues as described by others here, notably between DxO and Bridge. Up till vers 7 of DxO, if I had Bridge open as well as DxO, and, in fact, if DxO, Bridge, Photoshop and Firefox were all open, I could expect a freeze in Photoshop and/or Bridge having to close down. It was especially difficult when trying to drag an image from Bridge to the DxO icon in the tray. Guaranteed to crash Bridge.
Version 7 of DxO seems to have corrected this condition but I have experienced, but only once, Bridge crashing from a drag and drop. I believe that one was operator error.
Now if only the other problem between DxO and Bridge/ACR also would go away! A color shift in the orange range from the .dng,. A big one at that. It's evident on my D 80 images, but not D90. It's also evident on two Canons I checked; a 20D and the 7D. I see it on a Mac and PC. DxO says it ain't them, and offers proof through the jpeg and tiff outputs. They remain neutral. It's weird. Only colors like dry grass, or a stained reddish-orange cedar fence shows it, and only from the dng.
Oh, and DxO support said they could not explain why I wasn't seeing it on the D90!

Is it possible to integrate outside software packages in labview?
For instance, I want to run an off-the-shelf image and audio processor, and I want to import the data from there and into LabVIEW, and then stored.
Is that possible?

Is it possible to invoke Microsoft Word to open a word doc with a Java application?
If yes, what API or knowledge should I know to do this?

Using the various forms of the exec() method in the Runtime class, you can execute arbitrary programs, such as MS Word. exec() returns a Process instance, which you can do various things with such as get input/output streams, kill, etc. Note the parameters to the exec() method are platform specific, because of differing command shell names, path separators, etc. So you will definitely have to experiment and see what works on your platform:
Process msWord = Runtime.getRuntime().exec( "cmd.exe /C winword.exe" );That is one of the general idioms for using exec(), like I say you will have to experiment to see what variant of exec() works for you. Try searching these forums, this question has been answered numerous times before.

No. You will not lose any of the applications and data will be safe.
But make sure that you have working backup. This is very important.
Time Machine is the built-in backup software/application.

Mail, Software Update, other OS applications don't start

I have a PowerPC G4 here at work that is running OS X 10.4.11, which updated four different things this morning, including a Safari update, a Quicktime update, an iTunes and an overall OS update... now I believe the last two did not install properly and when the computer restarted I was unable to open Mail or any other OS applications such as iTunes, and I also can't open Software Update to try to install the updates again.
Has anyone ever had a similar problem or can anyone suggest anything to fix it?

The installer will start, you select your language, then when a menu bar appears, select Utilities menu > Disk Utility. You don't have to quit the installer; you do have to run Du from the Du app on the dvd, not the HDD. (If you are running DU from the Utilities folder on your HDD, the Repair option will be grayed out, and Verify will report "The underlying task reported failure on exit.")
Note also that while you must run DU from the Install DVD to repair your disk, you should run DU from the internal HDD to repair permissions. (You can run Repair Permissions from the Install DVD DU, but it doesn't check all the right places.)
The iTunes update should not have caused the issues you are having, but a failed/interrupted OS update can. You can try reinstalling the 10.4.11 combo update manually by downloading it here:

(Edit: I see that Limnos linked to both the PPC and Intel combo updates - you need the PPC version.)

Is it possible to download Adobe CC applications as separate dmg files as the computer I want to install software applications have no internet access? I'm planning to download each software application let's say Photoshop CC, save it on a USB stick then plug it in and install on another computer but it doesn't do the "save as" dmg installer file. Can you please let me know if this is not possible on CC membership? Thanks.

Can anyone tell me how to Invoke one java application from another?
Suppose I have a small java application say, Hello.java which has its own main() method and
I also have another java application, say World.java which has its own main() method too.
What I want to do is invoke or startup World.java from Hello.java.
If possible kindly give code examples?

main is just a normal method so Hello can invoke the main method of World just as it would invoke any other method.

My software applications were unexpectedly quitting (i tunes, pages, skype) so I upgraded to Lion OS 7. It took 2 days to download, 14 hours and counting to install so I switched it off and on. The only result is a screen asking for my password. I key in

When you decided to upgrade because you were having serious problems, you jumped from the frying pan into the fire. If the problem was the system, then reinstalling the current system is the way to go. But you had several application quiting, some from Apple and some not. so the quitting was something affecting all of them, and of course the system could be the culprit, but the system is not the only possible culprit. Replacing the system when it was not the problem only buries the problem under a whole new pile of problems.
Before reinstalling a system you need to make your Mac as trouble free as possible and back up as much as you can. There is a wide variety of problems that can affect many applications. Here is a short list:
Font problems. Use Font Book to verify your fonts. Delete or disable bad fonts.
Disk, permission, or cache corruption.
Incompatible Startup Items, Login Items, interface modifications or menu extras.
Corrupted preferences other than those of the affected applications. Check preferences system-wide using the freeware applications Preferential Treatment or AppleJack
Insufficient RAM or lack of free disk space.
Programming errors. Bugs in application code are not uncommon. For third-party applications, check the vendor's Web site for updates to the application, reports of known bugs, or for information on how to contact the vendor for support. A bad program might be grabbing up too much RAM and causing the other applications to fail as well.
Corrupted application. Check the logs to see where the crash occurred.
Other software problems or conflicts.
Corrupted Mac OS X installation. Perform an Archive and Install of your current Mac OS X.
Hardware problems. Run the Apple Hardware Test that came with your Mac.
Try to discover the culprit:
Open Console, located in the Macintosh HD > Applications > Utilities folder.
Check the Console and System logs for messages that may be related to the problem.
To open these logs, in Console choose File > Open, then choose:
Open Console Log and Open System Log
Messages in these logs are time stamped when the message was logged.
Scroll the log windows to the approximate time when the problem occurred.
Details of the messages may provide additional clues you use in troubleshooting.
Do not post an entire log to a forum. Post only the messages referring to the function or application causing a problem.
AppleJack is a free program you run in 'Single User Mode.' Install it. When you want to run it, press Command s until you get a black screen with text. Type 'applejack' and run the repairs.

N95 Using multimedia keys with other software?

Some programs require using the landscape mode with both hands so is it possible somehow to use those multimedia keys in other softwares? They seem to not recognize them.
If not, does someone know any program which could create a mirror button from them? Like you could set the number "3" to do the same action as "play" button.

Which applications do you mean. Still not quite sure what you want to do.
I have added additional applications to the Multi-media menu, but you activate it normally via pressing the MM key and then cycling through the menu list.

QuickTime Incompatibility with Other Software

I installed QuickTime on my laptop, but it seems to be incompatible with some other software I use called VisView, which is software used for viewing tiff files. The only thing I use QuickTime for is to listen to iTunes files--I don't want QuickTime interacting with my browser in any way. Is it possible to install QuickTime without installing the browser plug-in/add-on? Disabling the add-on doesn't work, and de-selecting tiff files in the QuickTime preferences doesn't work for tiff files that I try to open directly from web links.

Lauch the Player. Choose edit>preferences>QuickTime.
Select the Browser tab. Click on "mime types". In this window simply remove the checks for all types you don't want the browser plugin to handle. Ok, apply.
Under the file types tab do the same if you have other applications to view or open file types such as movies (mpeg, windows) or pictures (gif, tif, windows, jpeg). Apply, Ok.
Restart the OpSys to enforce the change.
