Is it Possible to Read a String as if it Were Code?

For instance, the below example:
Object[][] data = {
    {"Mary", "Campione",
     "Snowboarding", new Integer(5), new Boolean(false)},
    {"Alison", "Huml",
     "Rowing", new Integer(3), new Boolean(true)},
    {"Kathy", "Walrath",
     "Knitting", new Integer(2), new Boolean(false)},
    {"Sharon", "Zakhour",
     "Speed reading", new Integer(20), new Boolean(true)},
    {"Philip", "Milne",
     "Pool", new Integer(10), new Boolean(false)}
};Is there a way to tell java to compile[] the contents of a string? Like if I had a string containing the info put into that array
Object[][] data = <string>;
and get it to compile the same way.
Thank you.

Eh well, I'm trying to populate data from an access resultSet into a JTable... all the examples I've seen so far have been so confusing! But there was this one that used the JTable constructor with a 2 dimensional array, and a string of column names. And I thought, well, maybe I could cheat and make a long string in the syntax appropriate to populating that array like the example showed and.... bleh who am I kidding. I suck. ;)

  • Is it possible to pass a string from an applet to the web site?

    Hi, everybody!
    Is it possible to pass a String from an applet to a web site (as a field value in a form, an ASP variable, or anything else). Basically, I have a pretty large String that is being edited by an applet. When a user clicks on the submit button, a different page will show up which has to display the modified string. The String is pretty large so it doesn't fit into the URL variable.
    Please, help!
    Thank you so much!

    Why do you want to do this in Java?
    Javascript is the correct language for these type of situations.
    for instance:
    in the head of your html document:
    <script language=javascript type="text/javascript">
    createWindow(form){
    if(form.text.value!=""){
    newDoc = new document
    newDoc.write(form.text.value)
    newWin = window.open(document,'newWin','width=200;height=150')
    </script>
    in the body:
    <form onSubmit="createWindow(this)">
    <p>
    Enter a String:<input type=text size=30 name="text">
    </p><p>
    <input type=submit value="submit">
    <input type=reset value="reset">
    </p>
    </form>

  • Read AVI string in matlab

    I have saved string data in an AVI file with ''IMAQ AVI Write Frame". I have checked the saved data in Labview and when I read this AVI file with "AVI read data" it is possible to read the sting.
    However, I want to read the data into Matlab and cannot find a way to extract the string data from the AVI file. AVI data can be read with 'VideoReader', but this doesn't read the string data. Does anybody knows a method to read the string data into matlab?
    If anyone can help me it would be really great!

    Dear researchIC,
    I do not know what are the possibilities in Matlab to deal with AVI file.
    However, what I can tell you is that the data which is included in the file with the "IMAQ AVI Write Frame" is not encrypted or anything. It is simply included in a standard data stream of the AVI file. It is then potentialy possible to read back the data in a third-party application.
    The best advice I can give you is then to inform you about the AVI file format and see how you can retrieve the information contained in a stream.

  • Possible to read data from a web browser into java?

    Is it possible to read data from a web browser such as IE or Mozilla into a java applet for use and manipulation? If it is, could someone please post some documentation I could look at or a snip-it of code I could use? Thanks.

    This will read the content from a site:
    import java.net.*;
    import java.io.*;
    class Test {
         public static void main(String[] argv) throws Exception {
              URL u = new URL("http://www.google.com");

    Is it possible to add a string inside a textbox with a value of another textbox?
    ex.
    Textbox1 = Happy
    Textbox2 = Sad
    Textbox3 = "I am Happy therefore I am not Sad"
    "I am (value of textbox1) therefore I am not ( value of textbox2)"

    Is it possible to receive a String[] back into stored procedure?
    Thanks

    I don't think you can use a String Array directly, you have to use an oracle.sql.ARRAY.
    You use the oracle.sql.ARRAY parameter in Java as an OUT parameter in the stored procedure. You need to use an ArrayDescriptor which requires a corresponding Oracle Nested Table type.
    Try something like the following:
    First the Nested Table Type:
         CREATE OR REPLACE TYPE
         TBL_STRINGS AS TABLE OF VARCHAR2(999);
    Then the Java method:
    public static void getStrings(oracle.sql.ARRAY[] theStrings) //has to be an array of oracle.sql.ARRAY's as we use it as an OUT parameter
    try
         //get a connection
         Connection conn = DriverManager.getConnection("jdbc:default:connection:");
         String [] colours = new String []{"RED", "GREEN", "GOLD"};
    ArrayDescriptor desc = ArrayDescriptor.createDescriptor("TBL_STRINGS", conn);
    theStrings[0] = new oracle.sql.ARRAY(desc, conn, colours);
         conn.close();
    catch (SQLException sqle)
              //report error
    Then the call spec:
         PROCEDURE GET_STRINGS(p_the_strings     OUT     TBL_STRINGS)
         AS LANGUAGE JAVA
         NAME 'mypackage.MyClass.getStrings(oracle.sql.ARRAY[])';

    Your drive is formatted with the NTFS file system.  OS X can read but not write to the NTFS file system.  There are third party drivers available that claim to add the ability to OS X to write to an NTFS partition.  I have not tried them and don't know if they work.
    The only file system that OS X and Windows can both write to natively is the FAT32 file system.

  • Sychronisation AD - OID: Is it possible to read the user password from AD?

    Hi.
    We are using the Oracle Internet Directory shipped with the Oracle 9i Database Rel. 2 (9.2.0.1).
    I try to synchronise the user accounts from AD to OID using JAVA JNDI. I'm able to read all necessary user information except the user password (MD5 value). Even if I connect to the AD using SSL, it's not possible to read the attribute userPassword.
    Is anybody out there who got this work or knows a way (may also be by the use of another programming language or tool) to get the user password out of AD? Is this possible? How does the Oracle Integration Agents accomplish this?
    Thanks in advance.
    Hermann S.

    Hermann,
    I am working with this as well, though from AS10g, not RDBMS. According to the OID Administrator Guide chapter 43, page 43-52:
    <snip>
    Synchronizing passwords from Microsoft Active Directory to Oracle Internet Directory is not possible in the Oracle Application Server 10g release because passwords in Microsoft Active Directory are not accessible by LDAP clients. However, if a deployment requires passwords to be available in Oracle Internet Directory, then the following two methods are recommended:
    Build a custom plug-in for Microsoft Active Directory that captures a password change and synchronizes it with Oracle Internet Directory
    Manage Active Directory passwords from the Oracle environment. This enables passwords to be available in both Oracle Internet Directory and Microsoft Active Directory because the Active Directory connector can synchronize passwords from Oracle Internet Directory to Microsoft Active Directory.
    </snip>
    As10g can however look up the password in AD using the "Active Directory External Authentication Plug-In". This is documented in the same chapter.
    Hope this helps,
    Jens

  • Reading a String with dynamic format.

    Hello,
    I'm learning Java and I'm relatively new to the scene. I decided to make a small free utility with the hope that it will help somebody. The utility is a Game Server (Call of Duty 4) connector that will help Administrators to connect to the server and execute commands without the need of running the game.
    I have made a progress so far by searching these (very useful) forums but I came across a point that I can't by pass.
    The only way to learn "Who Is" from the server is the rcon command "status". Using this command the server returns you the current map and the players playing with all their information. This is the part of the code that I need help at:
    public static void StatusReader(String StatusInput) throws IOException {
                     ArrayList line = new ArrayList();
                        BufferedReader br = new BufferedReader(new StringReader(StatusInput));
                       String s = null;
                       int l=0;
                  dokimi = StatusInput.split("\n");
             //    for(int j=0;j<9;j++){
              //        int i=0;
              //        dokimi2 = new String[0][0];
              //        dokimi2[0][0] = dokimi[0];
              //        System.out.println(dokimi2[0][0]);
                  System.arraycopy(dokimi, 0, dokimi2, 0, 1);
                for(int i=0;i<(dokimi.length/9);i++){
                        for(int j=0;j<9;j++){
                       dokimi2 = new String[i][j];
                       System.arraycopy(dokimi, 0, dokimi2[i][j], 0, 1);
                       System.out.println(dokimi2[i][j]);
             //     while ((s = br.readLine()) != null)
                  //     line.add(s);
                   //  StatusOutput = new String[line.size()][];
                  //     for (int i = 0; i < StatusOutput.length; i++) {
                  //               s = (String) line.get(i);
                       //          StringTokenizer st = new StringTokenizer(s, "");
                  //               String[] arr = new String[st.countTokens()];
    //                       for (int j = 0; j < arr.length; j++)
      //                                arr[j] = st.nextToken();
            //               StatusOutput[i] = arr;
               //          for (int i = 0; i < StatusOutput.length; i++) {
          //                    for (int j = 0; j < StatusOutput.length; j++)
    //                         System.out.print(StatusOutput[i][j] + " ");
         //                    System.out.println();
    }I've been messing a lot with the code. +_What I want to do is to read this string that the server is sending,split it, and then place it in a 2D Array that I will attach on a table._+ So far I've made the StringTokenizer method to be able to , kind of, sort that String and put it in an array. However I usually get outofbounds errors because not always the lines have the same length. This is an example of the format that the server sends after executing the "status" command:map: mp_crossfire

    Hello DeltaGeek and thanks for your answer.
    I have 2 questions for you since you mentioned what the real problem is. The first question is how can I join 2 cells that will contain the 2 parts of the nickname in case of a space? Can I just check if the cell number x,y contains "^7" and then just copy that cell the x,y-1? Ive tried that but then I also have to move the rest of the columns to y-1 as well. Any idea how to do that?
    I was assuming you'd be processing the split string anyways, and not just tossing it into your 2-d structure. If you want to use .split(), yes. you would need to merge those cells into the original name. System.arrayCopy() would likely be useful for doing most of the heavy lifting.
    Another option you have is to tokenize the string using Scanner. That would let you pull each column out of the string individually. You'll need to populate the array manually (instead of just using what .split() gives you), but allows you to change the token delimiter between pulls.
    As for the junk lines, I can just check if they don't much the tokens number and then just not add them to the array I suppose, am I right or....?That's certainly one option. I don't know what's being given back to you, it may be important.

  • Reading a string.

    Hi experts.
    how can i read a string at a specified character.
    For ex: i have  astring like this.
    str = 'YUGFHKGHKHDKHHHGJK8HJBFXJKKFKJFJKFHJH'.
    so i have to read n.of charecters from starting of the string to charecter 8.
    Not with search option.
    Regards

    Hi,
    Thank you all.
    I know all these but in my program it is not workig..Don't know why...
    either split or search.Pls see the below sample code.
    DATA  : i_files like spflist occurs 0 with header line,
    DATA: w_files LIKE LINE OF  i_files.
    data: str1(200) type c,
          str2(200) type c.
    LOOP AT i_files INTO w_files.
        str = w_files-line.
        lin1 = STRLEN( str ).
        lin1 = lin1 - 1.(this is because there is one more '#' at the end of string)
        str = str+0(lin1).
        lin2 = STRLEN( str ).
        search str for '#'.
        split str at '#' into str1 atr2.
        w_files-line = str.
        MODIFY i_files FROM w_files.
        CLEAR lin1.
      ENDLOOP.
    Suppose here str contains:
    str = '00000003379#212RegVNegNoticeHLA.aspx.xml'.
    So i am getting sy-subrc = 4 after search.
    and after split there are no values in str2..and str1 contains full string..
    Can any body tell me what may be the problem..?

  • Reading a String Literally - Finding the "\" Character with a Regex

    How do I search for "\" characters in a string? Such as..
    String text = "Temp\temp.txt";
    The problem is that Java will read "\t" as a tab, so that
    System.out.println(text);
    Will return
    Temp emp.txt
    Also, searching for the regex "\\\\" will return a null result, presumably because Java interprets the "\t" as a tab character, not as a literal "\" followed by a literal "t".
    How do I get Java to read the string without interpreting it?
    Thanks in advance

    Try also this:
    public static void main(String[] args) {
              String test1 = "String with a\\t which is not a tab but a t preceeded with a \\ character";
              String test2 = "String with a \t which is a tab";
              System.out.println("This are the Strings as user sees / enters them:");
              System.out.println(test1);
              System.out.println(test2);
              System.out.println("");
              System.out.println("***********************************************************");
              System.out.println("");
              System.out
                        .println("Splitting first string using a \\\\\\\\ regex which will be interpreted by the regex engine as \\\\ which will represent a \'\\\' character:");
              System.out.println("");
              for (String s : test1.split("\\\\")) {
                   System.out.println(s);
              System.out.println("");
              System.out.println("***********************************************************");
              System.out.println("");
              System.out.println("Splitting the second string just the same way:");
              System.out.println("");
              for (String s : test2.split("\\\\")) {
                   System.out.println(s);
         }and read the console output.
    It should be:
    This are the Strings as user sees / enters them:
    String with a\t which is not a tab but a t preceeded with a \ character
    String with a       which is a tab
    Splitting first string using a \\\\ regex which will be interpreted by the regex engine as \\ which will represent a '\' character:
    String with a
    t which is not a tab but a t preceeded with a
    character
    Splitting the second string just the same way:
    String with a       which is a tab

  • Is it possible to read digital data using an external clock (PCI-6259 M)?

    I’m using a NI PCI-6259 M Series card and trying to write my program in VC++6.0 using the functions in the DAQmx driver.
    Question1: Not all functions listed in the NI-DAQmx C Reference Help seems to be supported by my NI-card, where can I find information about which of the functions that are supported?
    Question2: I want to read data from a device that clock out data on the falling edge of a clock signal. The clock signal and the data signal are routed to two DIO terminals on the NI-card. The question is if it is possible to read data using the clock as a sample clock? See two code examples below that doesn’t work. In both cases 10 samples are read at once, even if the external clock is not present.
    Example 1
    // Create tasks
    Status = DAQmxCreateTask("", &m_ReadTrimTask);
    // Set up read task
    status = DAQmxCreateDIChan(m_ReadTrimTask, "Dev1/port2/line0", "", DAQmx_Val_ChanPerLine);
    status = DAQmxCfgChangeDetectionTiming(m_ReadTrimTask,"Dev1/port2/line6","Dev1/port2/line6",DAQmx_Val_FiniteSamps, 10);
    // Read data
    int32 sampsPerChanRead, numBytesPerSamp;
    status = DAQmxReadDigitalLines(m_ReadTrimTask, 10, 10.0, DAQmx_Val_GroupByChannel, result, 10, &sampsPerChanRead, &numBytesPerSamp ,NULL);
    Example 2
    // Create tasks
    Status = DAQmxCreateTask("", &m_ReadTrimTask);
    // Set up read task
    status = DAQmxCreateDIChan(m_ReadTrimTask, "Dev1/port2/line0", "", DAQmx_Val_ChanPerLine);
    status = DAQmxSetSampTimingType(m_ReadTrimTask, DAQmx_Val_SampClk);
    status = DAQmxSetSampClkRate(m_ReadTrimTask, 1000.0);
    status = DAQmxSetSampClkActiveEdge(m_ReadTrimTask, DAQmx_Val_Falling);
    status = DAQmxSetSampClkSrc(m_ReadTrimTask, " Dev1/port2/line6");
    // Read data
    int32 sampsPerChanRead, numBytesPerSamp;
    status = DAQmxReadDigitalLines(m_ReadTrimTask, 10, 10.0, DAQmx_Val_GroupByChannel, result, 10, &sampsPerChanRead, &numBytesPerSamp ,NULL);

    Hello Magnus,
    Thank you for contacting National Instruments.
    "Question1: Not all functions listed in the NI-DAQmx C Reference Help seems to be supported by my NI-card, where can I find information about which of the functions that are supported?"
    The best place to look for this information would be the M Series Help Manual. There you can find the features of your PCI-6259 and what operations it supports.
    "Question2: I want to read data from a device that clock out data on the falling edge of a clock signal. The clock signal and the data signal are routed to two DIO terminals on the NI-card. The question is if it is possible to read data using the clock as a sample clock? See two code examples below that doesn’t work. Look at the "ContReadDigChan-ExtClk_Fn.c" example project which ships with the NI-DAQ driver. This is located at: C:\Program Files\National Instruments\NI-DAQ\Examples\DAQmx ANSI C\Digital\Read Values\Cont Read Dig Chan-Ext Clk.
    You will have to make some minor modifications to convert this to a finite acquisition, but that is simply a matter of changing the "sampleMode" parameter of the DAQmxCfgSampClkTiming() function. You will also have to route your clock signal to a PFI line and specify which line in your code.
    I hope this helps.
