Is it possible to remotely start an exectutable/application on Real-Time target?

Hi All,
Apologies if this is an obvious question - I could not get an applicable answer using any search terms I could think of - and I am quite new to Real-Time programming.
Is it possible to launch a headless real-time .exe (or uncompiled application saved on the RT machine) using an input from a remote VI - an .exe running on a Windows based laptop for example. I am currently building an application where my Windows based GUI communicates with the RT machine using shared variables. However I would soon like to hand my code over to a colleague who is going to test the application.I seem to recall that a .exe can be saved in a specific folder on the RT machine such that it will launch on start-up. However I would prefer to store multiple .exe's on the machine and allow my colleague to choose which one to launch.
My first thought is to write a wrapper .exe (which will autolaunch) which can then launch any other .exe saved on the machine using the wrapper. However I would much prefer to launch the .exes directly and one at a time if possible - it seems a more elegant solution.
Kind regards and thanks,
Dave

Well there is certainly a way to do it but NI does not expose that method.  You can however programmatically reboot a RT target and also you can use the FTP vi's to rename the 'startup.rtexe' file that will autorun on reboot.  Good Luck!

  • Configuring Remote Front Panels on a Real-Time Target, smart camera, but there is no image in the web page.

I do see the web page, but the image  itself is not loading.i know a problem is with the installation of the LabVIEW ActiveX plug-in or the IMAQ ActiveX plug-in.  The LabVIEW ActiveX plug-in is required for ALL remote front panel viewing, and the IMAQ ActiveX plug-in is needed for VIs that use the Image Display. how can i do ?where can i get the the IMAQ ActiveX plug-in. help me!

Got it working, after much experimentation.  Seems to require installing exactly the right combination of items on the RT target, as some items (web services? web configuration? the "application web server"?) apparently run a separate web server - or instance of the web server - on port 80, which prevents remote front panels from being served on that port.

This is exactly the same as a normal manual startup of the CMS server except it dies at the loading of the db2databasesubsystem section.
Business Objects is patched to Fix Pack 3.6 and is clustered in a HACMP environment. It is a requirement that when the DB2 database fails, shortly after restarting it can automatically start the Business Objects services remotely.
SSH will work if the command is entered manually from within a secured session, but it is only when automated that the failure occurs. Does anyone have an idea on why this is happening and whether it is in fact possible ?

we're going to run into deep offtopic if we continue that line ))
But I believe there is a big push to get the forum format actualy working this time.

  • Still Can't Get Remote Starter Install Scheduled

On 11/24/14 I purchased a ViperRemote Start System4115V1B with installation as a Christmas gift for my mom. After giving the gift on Christmas, I attempted to schedule the install as soon as possible (living in Indiana, it gets awfully brutal during the winter.), but after attempting to schedule an install online I called the store, and was told that because the car installer only works part-time, I needed to call back in 2 weeks or take it to a store an hour away. I really wanted to get it installed as soon as possible, especially since I had already paid for the installation. As of today (1/9/15), I've still been unable to get an appointment scheduled at my local Best Buy, and all the locations in surrounding areas are still not taking appointments either and I'm incredibly frusterated.

    Hello sandman8288,
Living in Minnesota, I can totally empathize with you as to why remote starters can be such a blessing in the blistery winter months. They certainly make great gifts too! I am deeply sorry for the delay in receiving your installation.
The reasoning jdogg and autotech have provided you could very well explain why you have been unable to receive an install date up until this point. We typically see quite an influx of remote start installations after the holiday season as it is a popularly purchased item this time of year. To ensure these installs are done correctly, installers must have successfully passed required certifications to perform these installations. As mentioned above, this can sometimes affect scheduling.
I will be sending you a private message to get some more purchase information from you to see if I can assist you in setting up an installation appointment.
    We appreciate your business,

  • Is it possible to remote-access my MacBook Pro away from home?

Is it possible to remote-access my MacBook Pro away from home?
    What I currently have:
    Late-2011 MacBook Pro 8,2 (OSX Mavericks 10.9.5)
    2.5ghz Intel i7 quad-core
    16gb RAM, 1024gb SSD raid-0 (internal)
    Connecting to the internet through:
Apple Time Capsule 2TB (via ethernet)
    +
Time Warner Cable "Ultimate 100" (top speed)
I would basically like to be able to have my MacBook Pro on *at home* and connected to the internet via ethernet to the Apple Time Capsule.. and then be able to somehow connect and log in to my MacBook Pro, either through another computer or preferably, my iPhone 5s..
Mostly just interested in having accessibility to be able to make downloads, such as magnet links, while away from the computer.. and basically be able to come home to mostly finished or complete downloads.. Basically like how you can DVR/TiVo things from your iPhone and have it sync with your DVR/TiVo while away from home..
    Is this possible? Thank you!!

    Yes you can do this.
I would suggest you start with TeamViewer.com (free for personal use).
You will need to install TeamViewer on your Mac AND your iPhone.
The Mac version will need to be configured for unattended remote access.  You should practice before you leave the home.
There are other iPhone apps that can remotely access a Mac.  A lot depends on whether they can get past the home NAT router.  Be careful of apps that provide VNC access, but do not provide a way to get past the home router.  If you try one of these, make sure you test it away from your home WiFi network.

  • Keyless Entry/Remote Start for 2012 Highlander

I have a 2012 Toyota Highlander wtih JBL audio, navigation, and keyless ignition.  I would like to add remote start and be able to use the new fob for keyless entry, lock/unlock, and open/close the rear hatch.  Is that possible without having to carry the OEM fob too?

well you have a couple of different options for sure.  if you are looking at just getting a basic remote start/keyless entry, then you will not have to carry around your other key fob with it, because our remote start key fob will be able to do all the features your old one will, with lock, unlock, remote start, and trunk hatch pop.  now the thing that i would be a little iffy about hooking up for you is the trunk release.  does your back hatch open up all the way and close all the way when pressed again? the reason why i ask that is because alot of the back hatches on toyotas just pop that back glass and if you were to accidently hit that button and you cannot tell that it is open (like most toyotas with teh back hatch glass) then you are leaving your vehicle not only not secured but also opens yourself up to all the elements that your climate will bring in the place you live. i usually only will hook those up if the customer is really really wanting that, but i always let them know about that risk, but if your hatch opens and closes and you can physically see that it is open or closed then by all means hook it up!
so below you will have a break down of the different remote start systems, i wish i was able to give it in a little better of a format, but this is the best that i can do!
    Materials charge: $5.00
    Viper 4105VB:     $199.99
    hood tilt switch:    $ 9.99
    Relay:                  $12.99
    FLCAN/DBALL:   $99.99
    Module install:     $39.99
    Trunk release:     $39.99
    TOTAL:               $407.94 BEFORE TAX
what this sytem above will offer you is a remote start keyless entry with trunk release.  the range will be 1500 feet, with a 1 way communication.  when you click the button you will have to see your vehicle and look to see if the parking lights are running, if they are on then you will know that it is running.  the hood tilt switch is a safety for mechanics, and yourself if you are ever working under the hood so that no one can start the car while you are working, or if you disconnect the battery, it will not try to start upon re connecting the battery.  the additional relay is for your vehicle since it has 2 starter wires, and our remote start only has 1 output.  the FLCAN/DBALL will simulate the chip in your key so that it will allow the vehicle to start remotely, expensive i know   but necessary.  the module installation is for the installation of the FLCAN/DBALL, and the trunk release labor is for, well trunk release haha!
you do have other options but this is the first one that will get you everything that you are looking for.  if you want a little bit more range, and 2 way communication add on $100 dollars making $507.94 for 1 mile range, and 2 way communication! with the 2 way you are able to hear a confirmation on your keyfob letting you know through beeps and a melody that it is locked, unlocked, or remote started, or if you hit the trunk release button.  at the end of your installation you will get a demonstration of how to use your remote start better than we do.  again if you have any other questions feel free to let me know! hope this helps you out a little!

  • Is it possible to connect the iPad to an Infocus and a remote for ppt presentations at the same time?

I've always used PC and I'm planning on making the transition to Mac.  That's why I'm considering buying an iPad. Today I went to Best Buys and the Mac guy told me that it isn't possible to connect the iPad to an Infocus and a remote for ppt presentations at the same time. Is that true?  I'm a speaker and that was the main reason I was considering buying an iPad, so I didn't have to carry my laptop. Thanks for your help!

  • Remote start of managed server

    Hello everyone,
1: I am using Weblogic Application Server version 10.3.0 in development mode over Windows machines. I will use the word 'host' for the hardware machine to avoid confusion with Weblogic 'machine'.
2: The scenario is as follows :
: There are two hosts - Host-1 with IP 111.222.333.444 and Host-2 with IP 555.666.777.888
: A Weblogic domain was created on Host-1 with one managed server and one (Weblogic)machine. The admin. server runs on Host-1 at port 7001
         : The machine,say M1,was assigned the IP of the Host-2 i.e 555.666.777.888
: The managed server, say web-server,was targetted to M1 and will run on port 7005
: The steps like pack and unpack were carried successfully and the admin. server was started on Host-1 and web-server was started on Host-2(NOT REMOTELY).The node manager on Host-2 was started at default port 5556
3: OBJECTIVE is to remotely start/stop the web-server from Host-1 via a Windows Scheduled Task which will call the startManagedWebLogic.cmd in turn.
4: The issue that I am facing is via admin. server console(accessed on Host-1),I am able to start/stop the web-server(on Host-2) remotely. But as soon as I attempt to start it using a script,
    startManagedWebLogic.cmd web-server http://111.222.333.444:7001
    I get JVM_BIND issue

    Thanks !

Actually, my message had a mistake in it. I had mentioned the port number as 7003 for the ManagedServerB. It should have been 6129.
Any solution to the problem ?

  • Remote start question

Does anyone make a remote start with a learning remote, or have remotes that have factory codes built in? I want to buy one for my 1998 Ford Escort wagon, and I figured if someone made one it would be a lot less wiring involved if the remote could learn the codes for the door lock/unlock, and trunk release. I understand that most units have these features but you have to wire the "brain" into the wiring harness for this to work. I'll be working outside on this, this car is a "beater", and I really don't want to take the time to wire those functions in if I can use the factory hardware and use a remote with the factory codes in it.
    Thanks,
    Snyde

    Hi snydley100,
I like the idea but I don't see anything like that that we currently carry. I'm hoping some of our Super Users that a more versed in Remote Starts will offer their thoughts. I will also check around to see if anyone's familiar with this. You might also want to stop in and talk to the install bay techs. They might have some ideas on this as well.

  • Navigation of iPhoto and iTunes not possible by Remote Control

Navigation of iPhoto and iTunes not possible by Remote Control after upgrading from Leo to Mountain Lion. I miss this functionality because it was nice to see may photoes directly on the iMac-Screen as well to hear the Music on my Radio. No chance to implement this function again by a newer upgrade?

    Answer to captfred and mende1:
I am using already AppleTV, but only for streaming into a different room on to my TV - it is great!
But I like to hear all my iTunes Music by LineOut Cable from iMac to my Stereo Device.
I can activate music titles in iTunes by Apple Remote, but only for jumping from Title to Title and not back to Albums or Playlists etc.

  • Is it possible to Remote Enable Classes in ABAP

    Hi,
I am exploring options on the possibility of remote calls for Classes, like we have RFC for FM's.
I found a category value - 30 Proxy class for remote interface in the class properties in se24, however i was not able to select this option while creating new class.
Any pointers on this would be of great help.
    Regards,
    Uday

No, afaik it is not possible to directly expose the methods of a class for remote calling.
Of course you can create an rfc FM and call methods from within the FM.
