Is it possible to set up network locations in such a way that other preferences also get set? Specifically, I usually have my Software Updates set to download in the background, but when I am using my iPhone's Personal Hotspot I'd like to disable this.
Or indeed is some other way possible, such as using an Applescript to detect when I am using my personal hotspot on my (limited data package!) 3g iPhone (via wi-fi or USB etc) and then switch off the automatic downloads until I revert back to my regular connection?

But I'd turn off automatic Updates anyway, & just check once a week or once a month to see what's available. -
To update my Itunes to the 10.7 or later, it says I need to update my mac. When i go to update my mac, it says that there is not one available. How do I fix this?
What Mac OS X version do you have? You can go to > About this Mac and find the version. If you don't have Mac OS X 10.6.8 or later, you'll need to update to that and then your iTunes will update. http://support.apple.com/kb/dl1400 <=== that is the link to purchase the 10.6.8 update

It takes hours (2-3 or more) to download updates to various software. I use my iPhone in personal hotspot mode paired to my laptop to do this. How can i speed up the downloads?
It's a function of your iPhone's data speed, which is a function of your physical location and your carrier. Talk to your carrier about increasing your data speed (probalby unlikely) or get dedicated internet to connect your computer to, i.e. cable, fiber, etc.

I am using my iPhone 4s personal hotspot as the internet router for my notebook. However, I am gtting the WEB SITE IS BLOCKED BY NETGEAR FIREWALL. I've deleted some other wifi connections I had before, had system restores, clear caches and cookie. Still, I failed. how do you shuffle the image order when creating a new slideshow in apterture 3? i would like to do this automatically when creating a new slideshow. i see how you do it with presets when you just play a slideshow, but i don't see an option to randomly shuffle the slide order when you create a new slideshow. i know you can sort it by different fields, but i want it to be random. thanks.
If you want to rearrange images in random order you can try an AppleScript:
retrieve a list of selected images from Aperture
shuffe the list properly
create an album in Aperture and add the images from the list to the album (make sure that the album set to be orederd manually)
Here is a sample script that shuffles the selected images and displays them in random order in Full Screen Mode:

You are on the UK Store. Scroll to bottom right, click on the USA flag to switch to the American store. Though you'll have to set up an account there too.

I Have a new apple ID and it is asking for my old ones password, I try to enter an app and it asks me to sign in but I hit cancel then ot kicks me out of the app, everytime.
When an app is purchased, it is locked to the Apple ID used to purchase/download the app. That will never change. If you have apps that are asking for the old ID for an update, it is working the way it is supposed to. If you cannot remember that password, then you will need to delete that app and download it again with the new Apple ID.

Is it (still) possible to set a grid behind the artwork but above the artboard?
Is it me, or has this changed in CC 2014? I used to be able to turn the artboard off (Ctrl+Shift+H) and use the grid (Ctrl+') freely throughout the workspace - behind the artwork I am drawing.
However now I am forced to turn off "Grids in background" whenever I turn off the artboard edges, because they disappear. Therefor I now need to work with grids overlayed on top of my artwork, which I find very frustrating, having to turn it on and off all the time.
To be clear: I work a lot outside of any artboards.

I currently own an iphone and have service thru Verizon. Would like to purchase the new ipad. I didn't know if I needed to spend the extra money for the wi-fi-4g cellular (verizon) and have to pay for the service monthly or could I use my iphone as my hotspot? Any advise would be great! Thanks!
Verizon does offer Personal Hotspot (aka "tethering") for the iPhone. You will have pay extra for the service. Contact Verizon to get pricing.

I'm trying to run an educational video which says it requires QT 2.2.1. QT is up to 7. So, it says to download off the CD, but when I try, it will not download. Any suggestions...
QuickTime version 2 is almost 20 years old and will not install on a modern machine.
You may be able to manually seach the CD to find the video content and it may be viewable in QuickTime Player 7.
