imobl... air display was a valid response for 2011 predating the question. Also using Monitor2go was valid in 2012. There were USB mirroring and as a 2nd display for an iPad options at the time the original question was asked.

Yes that's completely feasable.
Actually there is another way to install apps ad-hock that i was not aware of (this does not require the devices to be attatched to the Mac with the SDK and project, it can use any computer or distribute via your LAN:

I'm looking for a possibility to use the iPad for photography while traveling, without the access to a computer.
Shooting photo's in RAW format crates pretty big files that will fill up the iPad's memory pretty fast if you shoot a lot during a (let's say) month long trip.
my idea was to use load the photo's to the iPad so i could view them and sort out any bad ones. then copy them over to the storage device so i can continue using my CF cards for shooting. I have an image thank for copying the photo's directly to the HDD but it would be so sweet to be able to check them on the iPad before hand.

Why are you using a usb ethernet adaptor? Just plug the modem into the usb port.

To my knowledge the iPod can only be used as a secondary monitor since you have to boot up the Mac and turn on the secondary display. You would still need a KB and pointing device for the Mac
However, you can log into the Mini from an iOS device like an iPad using app like LogMeIn, GoTo MyPC or TeamViewer on both the Mac and the iPad. You use the touch screen on the iPad for all control of the Mac.
As you said,that would be tedious for a lot of typing but you could use a BT keyboard for the iPad.

Yes, you can using Skype. I don't have a cell contract with my iPhone 4 and make/receive all my calls on it via Skype using wifi. You could do the same with an iPad using 3G or a portable cellular wifi device--like a MyFi.
With a Skype Out/In account (you get a local number), it runs me $60.00 a year. I use the same account for my home phone--eliminating a home phone bill. My iPhone 4 has more than paid for itself already with the money I have saved in phone bills.

A second vote for the laptop-plus-free-iPod touch. As a professor, I would strongly recommend AGAINST any student trying to do college with just an iPad and not a laptop.
One example--I sometimes require students to turn in papers using footnotes. Pages for iPad does not support them, I don't know if the other Word equivalents do. Keynote is limited in various ways. A lot of humanities professors assign PDFs as electronic photocopies of chapters, etc, which the iPad could be good for, but my sense is that very few actual textbooks are available for the iPad.
In addition, because so many students these days have laptops, colleges are rolling back on computer labs in favor of investing in wireless networks and printing stations, so she might have a tough time getting a free machine to use for heavier college work that the iPad can't handle.
Even if she were to get a friendly roommate, half that time that roommate is going to be carrying around her laptop, so it's not like that would be easy to share.

when you create a category and/or subcategory in numbers, by default, you can make just five numeric computations in every subgroup: subtotal, average, min, max and count.
It is possible to add a new computation type to that menu, like standard error or standard deviation?

Not that I know of. You could do something like what is shown below if you have just one level of categorization. It involves some manual work if you add more categories and, as written, doesn't work for sub categories.
I changed the text color of table 1 column C to white so the numbers wouldn't show in each row. The category formula in column C can be min, max, or average.
The STDEV formulas in table 2 have weird references but each is really just the entire column. To create the reference to a column, click on the column letter. The STDEVs are in a header row so the results of the formulas become the names of the columns and the formulas then use those names. Kind of circular but it all works. Maybe if you put the STDEV in row 1 instead of row 2 (and change all formulas accordingly) it would use "one" , "two", and "three" as the references.
I'm not so sure I like this but I offer it up anyway.

I have the iPad 4 generation. I have been reading that it is possible to use my iPad as a MIDI controller to help me with making music on my Windows computer and want to do this. What I've seen on the Internet from other people, is that they use an iPad camera adapter with other cables to connect to their computers. I have a few concerns with this, one was that if it can only be done with jail breaking my iPad, if it does please let me know so I just don't try it. Another concern that I have, if i can actually do this without jail breaking, is that I have the new Lighting connection and I see people do it with the old 30 pin connection and want to know if I can still do it with this iPad.
If I there are adapters I can use with my iPad 4 generation can you help me out by telling what I need to buy to do this with my iPad.

At this time you cannot use your iPad as a display like you describe.
However, you can buy the extra Camera Connection Kit, to import video and pictures from some camera's and SD Cards.

If officially unlocked, yes. Stop in any AT&T store when you get here to review your options. AT&T is the only GSM supported iPhone carrier in the US.

The iPad cannot act as a Bluetooth keyboard for other Bluetooth devices and iOS does not support the File Transfer Bluetooth profiles for transferring files to other Bluetooth devices.
There are over 20 different Bluetooth profiles, and no device supports all of them. In the case of iOS Apple has included support for a small subset of the profiles.

I have an iPad wifi + 3g, but I do not use 3g and therefore there is not installed any simcard. My problem is that my ipad keeps saying "no sim card". I have turned off mobile data, but nothing helps. The message is popping up all the time, making it virtually impossible to use my iPad. My question is therefore whether it is really not possible to use my ipad without buying a SIM card and install this?

you should be able to use it just fine. I don't have a 3G version to find where things are in the settings, but somewhere in the settings you should be able to turn off the cellular antenna and just have the wifi one on.
You might also try simply giving your iPad a reset. Maybe that'll make that message go away.Hold down the sleep and home keys for about 20 seconds until your iPad reboots.
