Is it usefull to send phone back to Sony?

The IS (or is it SI?) number of my Xperia ray didn't appear on the ICS upgrade list so I'm still with Android 2.
I contacted the Sony chatservicedesk and they couldn't find that number in their database.
I got a code to find the number inside the phone. This was a different number but also not in their database.
The lady who helped my said I should ask the shop where I bought the phone to send it back to Sony to find out why I didn't get the upgrade.
I am hesitating to do so because my phone will be gone for some time and I doubt if this is realy necessary.
I can't imagine the problem is in the phone...
Any ideas what is the matter with the unknown IS number and how I can get the upgrade to ICS without sending it back to Sony?

Post a picture of the label (block the IMEI number) and I can check it for you.
Also if you still have the box for the phone, check what SI number it has.

That was very nice of you to provide your friend with a new phone! I am sorry to say that the device will not be able to activate while in Dubai. For a device to activate it must connect to the VZW network to become active. I apologize for any inconvenience.

If I am sending my iPhone in for a warranty exchange, due to software issues. Will they send my phone back if it has scratches?

I thought that I heard, if you send in your iphone for a warranty exchange they would send it back for it having some little bumps and bruises. Let me know your experiences.
Also, when they do send you a "new" phone, is it actually a new phone? Or one of the refubed ones?

Only Apple can say for certain. As no one here works for Apple we would only be speculating.
Also, Apple does not repair iDevices (with the exception of replacing batteries or screens on the 5/5S), it will be replaced if they determine the issue is a warranty issue.

My iPhone has died. Am I able to send it back to Apple for a replacement? I am on contract and phone is only 6 months old.

My iphone 4 has mysteriously stopped working. One moment all was grand and the next....nothing. Dead. The battery was almost fully charged when this happened, and the phone was turned on (I never turn it off). I've tried to reset it. I've tried to hold down the buttons for a long time. I've plugged it into power. I've plugged it into iTunes. All of this did nothing. iTunes didn't even flinch. The phone is D.E.A.D.
So, I'm on a contract with Vodafone. Should I go to them or should I go directly to Apple? Do I need the original box it came in (as I don't have it?!!?) Can I just send it back to Apple?
Anyone got any ideas or advice on the process?

Should I reset my phone before sending it back?

I just received a replacement phone in the mail to replace what I hope will be considered a manufacture defect on my current Droid Razr. Should I delete all the data and do a factory reset on my current phone? I feel strange sending it back with all my info, but I also want them to see exactly what the problem is. What should I do? Absolutely, and to truly clear it you need to enable encryption first then do a factory reset, that guarantees that all personal data is not only cleared but not retrievable through recovery type software as well.

Lost phone by transit...I just want my phone back

Ok so my iphone 5s which was in top condition because i went out and bought an otter box. So over time i released i started having problems with my speakers. For example: if i put my phone on my speaker the person on the other side could not hear me. So i checked my warranty and since i got the phone in January its still covered. The phone is an gold edition iphone 5s. I called apple and they sent me a box where i could place my phone in and ship it back to apple. Now i have done this many times before with my other iphones because for some reason i always get broken iphones without softwares. So i get the box on 09/13/2014 and on Tuesday night which goes to Wednesday mail time 9/17/2014 my phone is in the mail place waiting to be shipped. Now i go online 9/21/201 and see that for the service request is still on step 1. Now as i noted i have done this plenty of times before with apple and i have gotten a replacement/returned phone within three days. So since it hasnt moved from step one i was worried and contacted apple. They have no information on my phone or where it might be at all. Fedex has no idea where my phone might be. My apartment has had no returned products back to my place. So i contact apple again and apparently their customer service has no online chat you have to call. Thing is i dont have a phone and cant borrow one. CAN SOMEONE PLEASE HELP ME GET MY PHONE BACK, MY LITTLE MIND TOLD ME NOT TO SEND IT IN BUT I DID ANYWAY AND NOW IM STUCK WITHOUT A PHONE AND APPLE DOESNT CARE. I would assume you copied the tracking number on the package? If so, simply go to Fedex (or whatever carrier it was) and check that tracking number and/or call them to ask what happened to it. And/or you do have the record of Apple sending you an email about the matter?
If Fedex (or Apple) has no record and you do not have any proof that you shipped it, I don't believe that anyone can do anything. Not sure if your home insurance would cover this - probably not, but it's worth a phone call.

Apple sent me a new iPod touch to replace the one that stopped working. The new one has the same problem as the old one. Should I send it back?

I bought an iPod touch 4th genertion in August 2013. About 3 weeks ago, iTunes told me an update was available for my iPod so I clicked update. It then said it had detected an iPod in recovery mode and I had to restore my iPod. I tried to restore it when another pop up appeared saying an unkown error occured and it was unable to restore my iPod. I talked to someone on the online help page and they said I needed to talk to someone on the phone because it was too complicated to explain. The first person I spoke to on the phone could not identify my problem so she got her supervisor who said I needed to send it in for repair. I sent it in and yesterday I received a brand new iPod in the mail with a letter saying they could not fix my old iPod and this was a replacement. I plugged the new iPod into my computer to restore it and everything was fine. It said my software was not up to date so I clicked update and the exact same thing happened with the new ipod. It told me to restore my iPod and then said it was unable to be restored. They replacement arrived yesterday. Should I send it back?

What is the exact wording of the error message? It may be that there is a problem with your computer and is causing the problem, not a problem with the iPod.

How can I send a PDF form for someone to complete, then lock it for no one to see except us when they send it back?

We would like to create a PDF form to collect sensitive information (phone numbers, payment information) from our customers. Ideally, we would like for them to be able to fill it out, then hit a button to encrypt it when completed, and send it back to us for us to view. Kind of like sending out an open, self-locking box for them to fill, and once they close it no one can see the contents without the key (which we would have).

You can use certificate encryption. Each of your customers needs to have a digital certificate with a private key and send you the public key version of his/her certificate. You also need to have a digital certificate with private key and to send each customer the public version of your certificate. Then after each customer fills in your form, she encrypts it with certificate encryption entering as recipients herself and you before sending this PDF to you. This way only this particular customer and you can open and see PDF filled with sensitive information.
This workflow presumes that you and each of your customers can procure a digital certificate (Digital ID in Acrobat-speak).

Try restoring the iPhone to factory settings. If you are having difficult restoring, put the iPhone into Recovery Mode and see if that then works:

If not, or if a restore to factory settings does not fix the problem, then your iPhone may have a hardware problem. You can only get the iPhone serviced by Apple in Canada, so you will have to take the iPhone there or send it to someone you know in Canada who can get the iPhone serviced and send it back to you. The only option for getting service in Pakistan would be to pay some unauthorized repair shop to attempt a repair, after which Apple will no longer provide any service even in Canada.

When i click a link on (facebook, google, yahoo, etc) it sends me back to my home page. It has done this at least 5 times only starting yesterday the 29th, one of numerous issues arrisen since the newest 4.0 security update.

This issues persists mainly on my two most frequently visited sites, Facebook, and deviant art. When I click any random link on any random page, the link would send me back to my home page, as if i had clicked the back button when i hadnt. I cant specify what links specifically, but it has done it twice on my facebook home page, once on a google search and several times on Deviant Art. On Deviant Art, I was several pages into the site when i clicked on a users gallery and it sent me right back to google, the back button wasnt active, but the forward button was, when i clicked the FORWARD button it went right back to my last page, just as if i has hit BACK. This problem has only been apparent for the last 2 days since the 29th, and only after i installed the last security update provided by the firefox team. seems like a bad coding error that mixes up and redirects addresses, that would be my guess.

I have downloaded every update and my battery life is better than any previous iPhone I have ever owned. I see posts from hundreds of people every day, and this is not a commonly reported problem. While there are a few random reports of battery problems, it is no more than I have seen for any other model or any other version of iOS in almost 8 years. Usually problems of rapid battery drain can be traced to bad apps (FaceBook is the worst offender) or corrupt data being synced from iCloud or other sources (gmail, Windows Live, Yahoo, etc).
The simple test is to restore the phone as New. Do not create any email accounts. Do not install any apps. Do not enable FaceTime or iMessage. Do not enable Twitter or any other social networking app. Use it for a day and check the battery usage. You will find that it is working well.
