Is LiveCache Mandatory even for a demo system

Hi,
I am in the process of setting up a demo of SCM. ICH (working ok) and Demand planning. We have not installed LiveCache (SCM 41 and we don't have any 64 bit servers available).
When I replicate my transactional data from R/3 I get a SQL eror -709 in the outbound queues. As this is native SQL I have struggled to debug it.
It pointed me to note 582807, which lead me to believe it was failing due to attempting to connect to LiveCache.
Having earlier reviewed OSS note 752838 I was under the impression I had diabled LiveCache from my client.
Is LiveCache Mandatory for the SCM scenarios or for the purpose of demos can I get around it?

Thanks Roland. I posted in both as I was unsure if it was an issue or a question. Had the answer been live cache was needed, I would have gone on to see what my options were around installing Live cache on a 32 bit server, even though it would be unsupported in SCM41.
Thanks I wil persue through OSS.

All Apple iTunes Store accounts must have a valid form of payment set up. Even for free apps and updates. The Payment Declined message comes from your card issuer or payment source; Apple is just a pass-through for the message. You need to find out why your issuer is declining your card.

  • Product is not defined in Supplying plant in demo system

    Hi Experts,
I am doing initial load in demo system. While doing Material transfer I am facing Product is not defined in supplying plant issue.
Though I am transferring master data 1st time to the plants, how can i extend product to the supplying plant first.
    please advice.
    Thanks,
    Bala.

    Hi Bala.
Are you using special procurement key for Production in Another Plant? If yes, perhaps you can try to send first the material at production plant and only then send it at planning plant to APO. I've never had this issue, so this is just an idea/educated guess.
Also, what support packages are you on?

  • Transaction Launcher for Multi Client system

    Hi Gurus,
I need a very big help. This is my problem:
The CRM system on which I'm currently working has two client 1 and 2 and the second one
is closed to customizing, so that all the settings we can make are on
    1. When we create a transaction laucher object, by
transaction CRMC_UI_ACTIONWZ, we got the following error: "An RFC
destination could not be specified for the logical system 2" (even if the connection are all set up)
and if we set it from 2 at the end of the process we get the
following message: "Client 2 has status not modifiable".
In this way both on client 1 and 2 we´re able to execute only
    transactions of client 1.
All the settings have been done according to the official SAP guide.
Since on SAP guides there are no information about how set up the
transaction laucher in a similar situation, how can we solve this issue?
Please, reply as soon as possible.
    Thanks a lot,
    A.G.

    Hi Helmut,
well I am also not sure what they did, but anyway, from the beginning on bw is designed to have only one client to work in. Technically I believe that all of the 'BW-Tables' storing the BW metadata don't have a client field. So how will you separate developments of different clients?

  • Text Mandatory only for Certain Materials in Sales Order

Is there anyway so that I can make certain item text mandatory only for certain materials?
I tried creating new item category group and new item category. And then create new Text procedure making this text mandatory and assigning to this new item category.
But there are lot of different types of item categories assigned. So it does not look good to create new item category for each and everyone for this new item category group and material.
Please guide me how to make the document incomplete for certain materials only when one text is not filled at item level
    Thanks in advance

    Hi,
what you tried is correct and that is been followed in most of my projects wherever I worked.  That is the best way recommended also.
If you try with incompletion procedures for item category also, you will endup doing multiple item categories anyway....
First when I looked at the subject line, even before I opened your POSTING, I got the same resolution as you did....May be the optimal one but, not sure, if something else is possible other than by doing user exit.

  • There is  1 or 2 msg server for ABAP+Java system?

    Hi, all:
I am confused by the number of msg server processes in ABAP+Java system.
We are running on Windows/Oracle platform.
There are 2 msg_server.exe at OS level. So it looks one of them belongs to the central instance and one of them belong to the central service of the Java stack. Am I correct? I've heard that even for an ABAP+java system, there is only one msg server. Which one is correct? Please share your opinion, thanks.

    Hi,
There will be 2 MSG servers running in ABAP + JAVA system..
1 for SCS and other for Central Instance.

  • Backup solutions for Solaris 10 systems

I am trying to put together a backup solution for a number of SunFire V240 systems running Solaris 10. We do run our backups using NetWorker, along with a couple of high powered back up systems. But this solution I am trying to create is something that can be performed by our first responders, our help desk folks. The systems in question are already in production but we do have days where we can bring them down for maintenance or whatever we need to do. Therefore, I can implement this new solution during the day(s) of maintenance time.
I was looking at using Solaris Volume Manager and its metadata configurations. But I am unsure how to start with files sytems already created. I want to be able to have a backup of the boot disk in the event that the hard drive in which it resides goes down. I want our help desk folks be able to immediately bring the system right back up with little down time during the evening to late hours.
I guess what I am looking for are exact steps to help configure this backup solution with Solaris Volume Manager for our production systems. Can anyone help?

    Hey there,
Have a look at this excellent guide. I think that you may find what you need here. If not drop an email back. To begin with you need an extra disk(s) since you will mirror your data. This is sort of a pre-requisite.
    Good luck,

  • Introducing Lowarch - Arch for low-end systems

Some of you might remember that I mentioned my plans of making an Arch install cd for low end systems. I've come quite far with this project now.
First, I must say that it was a lot harder than I first expected. So I can say I have learned a lot in the process.
Second, before I start ramblig about where I am in the process, I'll just outline what the plan is:
The best Linux distribution is Arch Linux, because of it's speed, simplicity and elegance in design. I often get hold of some old laptops which are too old for Arch (i586 normally, but also i486). I have tried a lot of distros made for low end systems, but I always end up thinking, ah how wonderful it would have been to have Arch on this. It would have been the perfect distro for this machine.
And the more I thought about it, I realised that even though Arch is perfect for super modern systems, it would be even more perfect for old systems, because of it's speed and simplicity, and not least the choice of packages.
Some have started projects to port Arch to i586. I don't think that is the best solution. A lot of Arch isn't really useful on these machines. Therefore I decided to make a new distro based on Arch, where the main difference is the choice of packages. You don't want to run a video editor on a i586. For now I've called the distro Lowarch.
Here's what I have done so far:
    1st try:
Oh, I just change the compiler flags to i486 in /etc/makepkg.conf and start compiling all the packages. That worked great. Almost everything in base compiled fine. Until I started to notice the strange i686's coming up in all the ./configure outputs, and when I tried to install some of it on my i586, a lot of Illegal instruction messages came up.
After doing some research, I understood that some programs make static links to libraries, all of which, of course, are i686 coded on my system. I realised I needed to do this differently. Of course I didn't want to do all the compiling on a 486 machine.
    2nd try:
I made a Cross Linux From Scratch system, compiled for i486. Even that I had to make twice, for a lot of programs check what processor they are running on and compile for that. So the second time I used a so-called uname-hack. A small kernel module which makes the kernel report that it's running on an i486 machine.
When I had a basic build system, I compiled pacman, and started to build packages. This time I had to take care of the order for dependencies to work out. First kernel-headers, glibc, etc. I installed one package at a time into an empty directory with the pacman -r option.
After having the base system compiled, I booted it, and (using the uname-hack still) continued to compile the other packages in current, and the ones that I wanted from extra.
It was really hard, since a lot of packages just don't compile with recent glibc and gcc. I have learned a lot about writing small patches just to make gcc happy or take away symbols not used anymore etc. The dependencies in the pkgbuilds are not always correct when it comes to building packages. Sometimes, and this is the most frustrating, packages seems to build correctly, but because some library wasn't installed or whatever, a few files are missing from the package, and I have no way to know, untill something goes wrong. Often this wrong is a package not compiling because include files are missing.
Another problem was to make an installer. I decided I just wanted a simple installer, like Arch has. So I compiled busybox and made an almost exact copy of the 0.7.2 install cd, just compiled for i486, and with my package selection on it.
    What's left to do:
    1. Look more closely at the package selection. If there are people who are interested in this we can have some nice discussions about this. There are a lot of packages I just don't know what is for, and therefore I don't dare take them away.
    2. Clean up the PKGBUILDs, e.g take away references it the i686 and 64bit  arch.
    3. Compile the whole set of packages again, just in case.
    4. Releasing it.
I've set up a wordpress page at lowarch.linuxophic.org, which is empty now, but where I'll put out a link to the iso when it's ready.

Yes, I think it would be smart to check out the PKGBUILD once in a while and see if they are still able to build packages. It seems this is only done when new releases arrive.
The thing about old programs not compiling with newer glibc and gcc or other libraries is unavoidable, and there's an unending stream of patches to address this issue. If a package hasn't had a release for a year, it's quite common that a change in a library it depends on will break the compilation. When or if new releases come, they should usually fix this.
Of course, PKGBUILDs of current packages should work with a current system, not with a system from last year, if their supposed to be of any use. But it's a huge job to keep this up to date at all times, and you need some programming skills to do it, and I would rather have the devs focus on more important things, like updating packages and making everything work even better.

  • EWA Report for DEV/QAS System (if possible)

    Hi Experts,
I would like to know if it is possible to generate EWA reports for DEV/QAS Systems. I believe i have set up all the necessary RFCs for our SOLMAN to communicate with the DEV/QAS systems.
When I try to create an EWA session in SDCCN of the DEV/QAS system, the only destination i can choose is "NONE" which is local.
Any idea how I can send this to my SOLMAN. My SOLMAN is already configured to be the master system of my DEV/QAS system.
    Any help would be appreciated.
    Thanks.

    Hi Prince Jose,
My problem actually is that I want to set up EWA for a DEV system. I have tested all the RFC connections to and from my SOLMAN.
Even the RFC connection in SDCCN -> Settings .. -> RFC destination, i have 2, one SAP_OSS and my 'back' RFC to my SOLMAN and everything is working OK.
Would you be able to give me a step by step guide on how to setup EWA. From what i know:
    1. Setup the system via SMSY (done)
    2. Generate the necessary RFCs (done and tested OK)
    3. Set SOLMAN as the master system of the satellite systems (done)
    4. Create the necessary task for EWA via SDCCN of satellite system
    Are the steps correct?
    Thanks

  • How to design a demo system landscape

    Hello,
I need to build up a system landscape for demos and would like to ask if there are any best practices. I need a portal and would like the ESS/MSS-scenario with an IDES system. But using the IDES system everytime I need it I have to build up the data for the current time period. Is there any possiblity in IDES (or IDES successors, if there is one) to generate data for current time periods?
How are you handling the data of your demo systems?
    Thanks a lot,
      Vanessa

    Hello,
Read about IDES release strategy and found this:
A New version of IDES is available with every correction release. It is not possible to upgrade an existing IDES version to a new release. You can, however, install service packages for the corresponding correction release. This means that every new IDES Release involves a new installation. The IDES Release Strategy ensures that you always get new master data, transaction data, customizing functions, and documentation that are tested and checked for quality.
Seems installing the new release of IDES will be the most probable solution.

  • Single hierarchy for multiple target systems

    Hi,
I have a version named "Account" with a hierarchy named as "Acc2013".
the hierarchy "Acc2013" is same across Oracle EBS, Oracle Fusion GL, and HFM.
how can i assign multiple node types to the same hierarchy so that i just need to maintain one hierarchy (this case account hierarchy) and select the properties pertaining to each target system?
i.e. i select the Oracle GL from the drop down and give the details for the Oracle GL then i select the HFM category from the drop down and provide the HFM related properties.
the reason why i am asking is, if i dont give the node type, all the unnecessary properties are showing up for other type of hierarchies. for e.g. there is another hierarhcy named cost center there its showing the account related properties.
to summarize, how i can utilize a single hierarchy to be used for different target systems? Appreciate your help. do i need to create different version and hierarchy for different types of target systems?

I'm late to respond to this, but I always preach to customers that it is critical for DRM to act as an enterprise view. This isn't a "System A" hierarchy, or a "System B" hierarchy, but rather it's an asset that is shared by both systems, and therefore attributes for both systems are valid. Since node types provide the ability to hide properties, many interesting options present themselves, not all of which lead to a good outcome in the longer term. If a user doesn't ever want to see properties for a particular system, it would be better to just remove their access to that property category in many cases. (They may already have read only access but they object to "being bothered" with seeing those properties.)
I've seen many DRM implementations head down the other path and end up with duplicate maintenance requirements, configuration challenges, or even having to do major reengineering efforts to transition DRM from a Finance department tool into an enterprise use case feeding a data warehouse. A current customer of mine used a scheme where a checkbox on each property category would make the properties disappear if unchecked...this worked great with a handful of node types, but unfortunately the number of node types needed to support all of these property category combinations was bound by factorial math principles. Consequently the maintenance for this solution went from unweildy to unmanageable as more "non-HFM" data was added to DRM.
DRM implementations should be guided by governance principles and maintenance business rules, rather than than how things appear in DRM. It's how they appear when published that is of primary importance. I think the new features related to Data Governance will help greatly in this regard. Users that are overwhelmed by the DRM UI can easily be limited to the attributes that are relevant to their specific workflows, and only the "Power users" will see everything.

  • Remote Test and Demo Systems

Would like comments from prior users of Remote Test and Demo Systems (or DPA?) where you get remote access to an SAP maintained system for the purpose of testing your application's interfaces with SAP ERP and/or BW.
    - how do you obtain this access
    - how long does this process take
    - what's the cost
    - how well does the system work
    - do you get access to only the built-in data or you can create your own.

    Hello Veeren,
    Hope this helps:
    Q. How to obtain access ?
Just contact the ICC guys <a href="http://www.sdn.sap.comhttp://www.sdn.sap.comhttp://www.sdn.sap.com/irj/sdn/sdnservices/icc">http://www.sdn.sap.comhttp://www.sdn.sap.comhttp://www.sdn.sap.com/irj/sdn/sdnservices/icc</a> and they will help you out with this. We had a lovely experience with the consultants for our XI Content Certification.
    Q. How long does this process take ?
In our case, it was less than a week.
    Q. What's the cost ?
We were fortunate to do it during the promotional period and did not have to pay anything. The ICC consultant would help you with the details.
    Q. How well does the system work ?
The system was quite fast and the access is via ITS / SAP GUI for HTML.
    Q. Do you get access to only the built-in data or you can create your own ?
Besides the XI Server, it was an IDES system in our case and we were also able to create data.
All the best for your certification.
