Is the bit file the programming file?

Hi all
I have a design that came to me as part of an evaluation board from a vendor. The vendor's design has something like 10 clocks, most derived from a single input clock using PLLs and DCMs. Their UCF has very few timing constraints (shown below), but ISE finds 4 violations of constraints that Timing Analyzer must arrive at on its own. Some seem pretty serious (-5ns slack sounds like a lot to me), BUT: ISE generates a new bitfile anyway!
Main question: Is the bitfile being generated because the failures aren't due to explicit constraints?
(One more twist, maybe: The bitfile generator fails, and blames these timing violations, if I try to include an ILA. It also refuses to open the contraints editor until I remove the ILA from the design.  I've seen a couple of threads in this forum that gave me some ideas, so I'm going to try some things and open a separate thread if I can't resolve this myself).
from the UCF:
## TIMING CONSTRAINTS
NET "clk_100m_p" TNM_NET = "clk_100m_p";
TIMESPEC "TS_clk_100m_p" = PERIOD "clk_100m_p" 10 ns;
INST i_tsc_cmv12000_clocking/SRL16_inst/SRL16E TNM = TNM_SLR16;
INST "rb1*" TNM = TNM_RB;
TIMESPEC TS_RB = FROM TNM_SLR16 TO TNM_RB 10 ns;
INST "i_tsc_cmv12000_clocking/SRL16_inst/SRL16E" TIG=TS_clk_100m_p;
NET "clk_rx_p" TNM_NET = "clk_rx_p";
TIMESPEC "TS_clk_rx_p" = PERIOD "clk_rx_p" 3.33 ns;
'clk_100m_p' is the + side of the differential input for the clock everything else is derived from.
'INST i_tsc_cmv12000_clocking/SRL16_inst/SRL16E TNM' refers, I think, to a DRP-controlled PLL, or to the FIFO that queues commands to it.  'rb1*' refers to the register bank that runs everything in the FPGA.
'clk_rx_p' is the + side of a differential clock output to another component.

Main question: Is the bitfile being generated because the failures aren't due to explicit constraints?
The tools do not prevent bitfile generation due to failure to meet timing.
The bitfile generator fails, and blames these timing violations, if I try to include an ILA
I've never encountered that.

  • I am getting EXACTLY the same "you don't have the required permissions" message that I see all over the net.  64 bit windows 7 ultimate. Many uninstalls and reinstalls.  Yes, Itunes is in the program files x64 directory.  Yes I get the same error there.

    I'm getting the same error message as many other when I try to start Itunes.  It was working correctly until I got an ipad 3 and installed some of the associated tools.  Have uninstalled and reinstalled many times.  Yes it's in the program files x64 directory.  Yes I get the same error when I try to start direct from that folder instead of menus or desktop shortcuts.  Did some registry cleaning.  Nothing helps.  Windows 7 ultimate, 64 bit.  Please help.

    The install fails with the error: "installer has insufficient privileges to access the directory >c:\ProgramData\Microsoft\Windows\StartMenu\Programs\itunes. The installation cannot continue". My user account is an admin account. I then retried the install by right-clicking and running the install with Admin Privileges. Same error results.
    I don't have a Windows 7 box in front of me, so can you check something for me?
    Navigate to that location on the PC look at the itunes item you see there. Is it a shortcut to your iTunes program file?
    If it's just a shortcut, try dragging it out onto the desktop and doing another (64-bit) install. (With a 32-bit already in place, it may just offer to do a "repair install" instead of a full install.
    Do you still get the error message or does the install go through smoothly this time?

    Spoken to IT support who inform me its because files are on network, however they are on my desktop and program is installed on my PC not a network.

    Other sizes print. Bizarre.

  • Why does the iTunes 64 installer install into the Program Files (x86) directory and run in 32 bit mode?

    I have just installed this and even tried to manually get it to install in the "Program Files" directory.  Programs installed into the "Program Files (x86)" directories are 32 bit apps.  This is where the iTunes64Setup file installs to.  Is this intended?  If so, why call it iTunes 64 bit ?  It is compatible in this mode, but iTunes actually running in 64 bit mode could drastically improve performance and processing of large libraries.
    Please advise if this is a known issue or if iTunes 64 bit even exists.

    The 64-bit version of iTunes is a mixture of 64-bit and 32-bit componentry. You'll also notice on your PC that some of the componentry for iTunes itself is installing in the iTunes folder in the Program files directory (such as the miniplayer). The GEAR drivers used for burning and importing are 64-bit. The iPod service is 64-bit. AMDS is 64-bit. Bonjour is partially 64-bit.
    It's normal to see the itunes.exe process running as 32-bit on a 64-bit system.

    I migrated my AIX 4.3.3 to AIX 5L 5.2 version, and I have installed, before migrating, Oracle 8i (8.1.7) and Oracle 9i(9.2.0.1) and these worked well, but now,after migrating, whenever attempt to enter sqlplus gives the following errors:

    I knew I'd seen the solution you've provided somewhere - either in MacWorld or MacFormat - but couldn't remember the Gatekeeper bit!
    I shall save it somewhere VERY safe now in case this happens again …

  • Help! While editing a photo in CS3 the program shut down and will not reopen my psd file.

    Help! While editing a photo in CS3 the program shut down and will not reopen my psd file. The error message reads "cannot complete your request because of a program error" -- it is a very large file (I have been saving it all along) and I had just "flattened layers" and went to open up a new, blank photo file when it shut down. Is there anyway to get this file to open? Any advice would be greatly appreciated! (p.s. after reading a couple of similar threads, I have a feeling it's hopeless. But I'd also like to know WHY this might have happened!) Thanks in advance!

    Thank you. I appreciate you taking the time to respond and for sharing the article--I did panic. Here are the details of my system:
    Model: HP p7-1247c
    Processor: AMD A8-3820 APU with Radeon HD Graphics
    Installed Memory: 8 GB (7.48 usable)
    System Type: 64-bit
    Windows 7 Home Premium
    I am using Photoshop CS3. It seems that I can work on photos and save them. But I am unable to open them back up. I have tried saving the files as psd and tiff with the same result. The error message is:  "cannot complete your request because of a program error"
    The interesting thing is that I can open up InDesign and "place" the psd file within InDesign (then export and save as a jpeg). So I don't think the files are necessarily corrupted. I uninstalled Photoshop and reinstalled it last night, but there's no change.
    If you have any ideas, I'd appreciate it. Or, should I repost my question with this more complete info? Thank you!

  • Why was Firefox 4 installed in WIN 7 Program Files x86 directory while Firefox 3.6.12 was installed in the Programs Directory?

    After I installed the new Firefox 4.0 today, Secunia reported that there was an insecure version of Firefox 3.6.12 remaining on the computer.
    OS = Win 7 Professional.
    Firefox 4.0 installed in Program Files (x86) directory, while the old version 3.6.12 remained in the Program Files directory (file version = 1.9.2.3951)
    Why did this happen, and can I just delete the old version in the Program Files Directory, or would there be negative consequences if I did this?
    Thanks
    Bruce

    That's an interesting suggestion about how I acquired the 64-bit version.. However, I just responded to the Firefox updater when informed, and let it install itself - I did not get the 3.6.12 from another source, and wasn't even aware that there were 2 versions.
    The important question for me is - How do I get rid of the reminants of the 64-bit version in the Program Files Directory? - Is it safe just to delete the Mozilla Firefox directory and its contents?
    Is there a 64-bit version of Firefox 4 available, and if so, why didn't it sense that I have a 64-bit system and install the correct version?

  • Unable to make changes to a jpg file and then save it without the program trying to change it to a psd [was: What a Pile of Crap!]

    Can't even make changes to a jpg file and then save it without the program trying to change it to a psd!!!!!  No wonder nobody like Adobe anymore.

    Do you mean that PSD comes as a default option or that JPEG is not available no matter what?
    Did you add a layer?  Did you change the bit depth?  Did you add transparency?   The JPEG format does not support layers, nor 16-bit images, nor transparency.

  • After trying 8-10 different files over that many days or more, the program still doesn't work.  Get the error message, file to large, unable to complete.  What does this program do?  Nothing as far as I can see.

    I notice many of us seem to have the same problem, does anyone ever answer our questions online?
    We paid to use this program, we would not have bought the program unless we had a use for it.  I thought this would be much faster than OCR, but I am finding that it is worthless unless it works and so far that isn't happening.

    Hi itsjudyj,
    Can you please tell me a bit more about the files that you're converting? How large are they (there's a 100MB file-size limit), and are they text, images, or both? File size or complexity can cause the ExportPDF service to time out before it can process the files.
    Other things to check:
    Clear the browser cache and try again.
    Make sure that you're using a supported web browser (http://www.adobe.com/acom/systemreqs/)
    Try a different browser
    Please let us know how it goes.

  • Making a file within the program

    Hello. I'm getting a bit confused with the File I/O. Is there any class that I can use that makes a File object from the program. Lets say I want to make a file with its contents from a String.
    For example.
    I'm executing the program then I want to save a file that does not exist yet that will contain the value of a String variable.

    So, what you need to do is this....
    Create a new File object.
    Call the createNewFile() method of this Fileobject.
    Create a FileOutputStream for this File object.There's no need to create a File object and call
    createNewFile() first. Just open a FileOutputStream
    (if you're writing binary data) or a FileWriter (if
    you're writing text) and write the data to it.
    FileOutputStream and FileWriter will create the file
    automatically.If there is no need to have a reference to the new file as a File object then of course there is no need to create one :-)
    Probably I should have been more precise to my reply :-)

    a real PITA.   anyone have any solution for this? Thanks

    Hi,
    Have you try to un-select the Ignore other applications that use Dynamic Data Exchange (DDE) setting?
    Click the Microsoft Office Button, and then click Excel Options.
    Click Advanced, and then click to clear the Ignore other applications that use Dynamic Data Exchange (DDE)
    check box in the General area.
    Click OK.
    If the problem cannot resolve, the Run as administrator may selected.
    Go to Office default install location: C:\Program Files\Microsoft Office\Office12.
    Right-click EXCEL.EXE > Properties >
    Compatibility tab.
    Under Privilege Level, uncheck Run this program as an administrator
    check box.
    Best regards.

  • Office 2013 Home and Business - Click to Run wipes out the Office files from the Programs folder

    We are having an issue with a number of clients running Office 2013 H&B in a domain environment, after a click to run update.
    It appears the update is ran in the background and after a reboot, the program files short of a few .DLL's are completely missing. Office still shows as installed through the control panel.
    We have to use the office removal tool and reinstall program completely.  System restore does not fix the issue.
    These are Dell Latitude and the version of Office shipped with the machines as an OEM version. There was nothing pushed from the Dell update utility for Office.
    They are running Avast AV and it is not affecting all users presently.
    I've been on hold and getting transferred around Microsoft's support lines all day as Microsoft support can't seem to figure out which department should troubleshoot the issue.
    Any assistance would be greatly appreciated.

    I am doing some research. And I  might involve someone who is more familiar with this kind of issue to deal with this problem.

  • Adobe cs6: extracting files, installer detects issues. Using Photoshop, the program crashes quickly.

    I'm in the process of downloading Adobe cs6, and when I extract the downloaded files, installer detects a machine restart is pending, but even after restarting the computer, and retrying to extract the files the issue persists. So I tried ignoring the problem, (as that is one of the options) and completing the download, but then when I go ahead and use Photoshop, I only get to use it for less than 20 seconds and the program completely shuts down. I have no clue how to fix this problem.
    I've tried unistalling Adobe cs6 and reistalling it multiple times, but no luck.
    I've also downloaded the update published by adobe today (11/26/2012) but i still have this problem.
    I don't know how to solve this issue, doesn anyone have any suggestions as how to fix it?
    i'm using windows 7, and AMD Professional firepro graphics card
    Thanks Stef
