Is the Iphone 5 model A1429 (CDMA) and model A1429 (GSM) the same phone?
Apple is inconsistent on their information for the iphone 5. One the LTE info site (http://www.apple.com/iphone/LTE/) it lists three different models, specifically showing that there is both a GSM and CDMA version of Model A1429.
However, on the iphone 5 shopping FAQs (http://store.apple.com/us/browse/home/shop_iphone/family/iphone) it specifically says:
Can I use an iPhone when traveling internationally?
iPhone 5 and iPhone 4S are both world phones, so you can use them almost anywhere. Whether you are a GSM or CDMA network customer, you can roam on GSM networks in 200 countries around the world. iPhone 4 for AT&T can also roam on other GSM networks around the world. iPhone 4 for Sprint will work in approximately 40 countries and iPhone 4 for Verizon Wireless will work in approximately 45 countries that use CDMA technology. Availability of LTE data on iPhone 5 varies in some countries and depends on carrier support for certain LTE radio frequencies. Contact your wireless carrier for more information regarding international roaming policies and rates.
As you can read in the bolded type above, the CDMA version of the phone will be capable of using GSM networks. Does this mean, for example, that an iphone purchased in Australia (LTE band 3 with Telstra) will be usable in the US (Sprint and Verizon LTE bands).
What I'm most interested in is using LTE in the US on an Australia purchased phone.
Hmmm. I just ran GeekBench here in Sydney and it has identified my A1429 iPhone 5 as a CDMA version. Whatever, it is running fine on LTE on the Telstra network here.
Is this just a glitch in GeekBench or is Apple really using the Verizon A1429 version interchangeably with the GSM-only A1429 as the world-phone?

I removed my English keyboard and locked the iPhone and now the iPhone locked on Arabic keyboard
Hi Eliasaa,
You may need to try the directions for changing your keyboard language found in the following article:
iOS: Using international keyboards
http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4509
If this does not resolve your issue, you may need to follow the instructions in this article:
iOS: Forgot passcode or device disabled

What are the physical internal differences between the iphone 4s on Verizon and AT
I fix Iphones all the time and i know that the iphone 4 in Verizon and AT&T are the same from the outward eye ( other then the sim trey and some antena placements) but the Iphone 4s is the EXACT same in both companies...right?
Physically they are the same. The CDMA radio is disabled in the AT&T phone. The Verizon iPhone 4S, even with the SIM slot unlocked by Verizon, can never use any US network other than Verizon.

The iTunes Installation files include 4 driver dlls that I can install on a Windows thin client to enable the iPhone to be charged.
The iPhone hard drive or photos are not detected. I guess I need scanner driver support to cope with the camera.
Can anyone tell me which files from the iTune installation set are needed.
It is not practical (or even possible?) to install the whole iTunes package.
I've seen this question asked by a lot of people but never seen an answer.
Please, can someone help...Thanks for the reply.
A thin client is used to connect to a Terminal Server, or in my customer's case, a Citrix Server. I need the thin client to see the iPhone as a camera and pass it to the Citrix Client so the photos can THEN be either stored on a network storage device, or e-mailed.
Because the thin client doesn't even SEE a camera (i.e. the iPhone) it won't be able to connect to iCloud to do anything useful.
I think the question I should be asking, is how do I give the thin client Camera Support.
I've just seen a 2008 forum comment that said the iPhone DOESN'T handle photos through iTunes, but the PC (Scanner support) or MAC (iPhoto) handles them directly. I should be putting the question to HP.
This is still a good place for THIS question, because I've seen so many iPhone users asking it...
If I get a satisfactory answer I'll post it back here. -
How can i buy an iphone 5 of cdma and can i take d store near in my city jakarta indonesia
Please help
How can i buy an iphone 5 of cdma and can i take d store near in my city jakarta indonesiaAccording to this list, iPhone 5 CDMA versions are only available in the U.S., Japan, and Puerto Rico. The CDMA phone is Model A1429.
http://www.apple.com/iphone/LTE/
Even if you get an unlocked A1429, it may not work with Indonesia's CDMA network, although it looks like it should work since the iPhone 5 CDMA model supports both CDMA EV-DO Rev. A and Rev. B. You may need to take it to your service provider to set it up though. -
i have an iphone 4 for verizon and i am going to switch phones and get a droid motorolla 4g phone and the droid doesnt have a sim card. does my iphone 4 have a sim card that i can put in the droid? can i buy sim cards separately online for the droid?

The iPhone 4 uses a "Nano SIM"
The CDMA iPhone 4 does not use a SIM at all. There is no SIM slot. It is a pure CDMA phone. -
How to use my Verizon iPhone 4s in America and China - is jailbreaking the only option?
Disclaimer: I'm not the most tech-savvy so forgive me if my terminology is incorrect!
I have a Verizon iPhone 4s with latest iOS update. I have relocated to China for work and would like to use it here. Have gotten my SIM unlocked but cannot use it without accruing ridiculous fees. Verizon uses CDMA and China is GSM, I believe. I've been told that if I get my phone jailbroken here, I can use it with a Chinese SIM but I am wondering if I can still use it back in America with my original Verizon number. Since I work back and forth China-US and am traveling, it's important I can use my phone.
I'm very nervous about jail breaking, as it seems a little unethical to me...but I'm wondering if that's my only option. How can I retain my American and Chinese phone numbers and still use my phones? Should I just invest in buying a new iPhone 5 so that I can use it internationally?
Am wondering if anyone here has had similar experiences. Would appreciate any and all help. Thanks so much!Verizon does not unlock the iPhone 4S for use on U.S. GSM carriers, only for foreign roaming.

trying to active my old iPhone 3gs. it showing that activation server is temporary unavailable and on the iTunes showing that there is no sim card installed in the iPhone you are attempting to activate. I unlocked my phone then i upgrade it, after that this happen. i tried with other sim same message come again and again.if any body know solution let me know. thanks
Was the SIM card activated on another phone? I assume this is an ATT style trying to use on T-Mobile? Was the SIM installed correctly? Is the carrier (like T-Mobile) operating IOS 6 devices yet?
If the SIM is a valid SIM from say T-Mobile, you may want to contact them for assistance activating the SIM card.
Activation and SIM issues typically point to the carrier. And if this was a CDMA phone say working with verizon, it will NOT work for ATT or T-Mobile as they use different electronics on the 3GS. The SIM slot is for international use only. -
I'm trying to update my iphone 3GS to the 4.3.4 version and I am getting the error message "This version of itunes (version 9.1.1) is the current version. How do I update my PHONE and why is an itunes update being confused for my iphone?
You need iTunes 10.0 or greater to update your phone...iTunes isn't confused at all. If you're on a Mac, you'll need OS X 10.5.8 or greater to update iTunes to 10.0 or greater.

My iphone is not working, i was planning on getting the iphone 5s for christmas, but i do not have my phone backed up on itunes. On my screen are these blue lines across on my screen, and i cant see anthing and i do not know what to do. I want to back up my phone but i cant see my screen to back it up. I need help badly. Thanks apple hope you can help me in this matter.
You wouldn't need to see the screen to backup unless you have a passcode on the device. Is that the case? You should be able to plug the device into the computer with iTunes and just select backup now.

I have 3 iphones, an ipod touch and an Ipad on the same itunes account. should I have a different account for each device? If so how do I get all my purchases, like music on all the devices?
You can sync as many devices as you want to the same iTunes account, there is no limit. You can have the same content on each device or different content, the choice is yours. iTunes will keep everything straight, by device, including separate backups. I'd suggest giving each device a unique name, to make things easier.

Can not update iTunes because I have iMac with 10.5.8 . How I will sync my iphone 6.0 with an older version of iTunes on my iMac???? There is no update for the software of my iMac and no update for the iTunes.... So how can I sync????
Requirements for iPhone 5:
Syncing with iTunes on a Mac or PC requires:
Mac: OS X v10.6.8 or later
PC: Windows 7; Windows Vista; or Windows XP Home or Professional with Service Pack 3 or later
iTunes 10.7 or later
The highest version of iTunes you can install is 10.6.3 which will not sync with the iPhone 5.

It's always a good idea to check the requirements before purchasing.
The person I spoke with at 1-800-MY-APPLE gave me totally different info...she said the iPhone 5 would in fact sync with the older version of iTunes and that I could restore from my previous iPhone 4 backup and also bring in my music that way. Hmmm....
I'm inclined to go by the published specs, but now I have to jump thru a bunch of hoops I wasn't expecting to. -

I purchased an iphone for my daughter and we are using the same account and she deleted some contacts from her phone and they were deleted off of my contacts as well. Is there a way to use icloud backup to reinstall the contacts to my phone?
Welcome to the Apple community.
You can only restore them from a Computer backup. This has occurred because you are sharing an iCloud account. ideally you should each have your own iCloud account, that way you can each manage your own mail, contacts, calendars, documents etc and avoid unintentional deletions and unwanted editing. If there is information you wish to share between you, this can be done with a secondary account.
Having separate iCloud accounts, doesn't mean you have to have separate iTunes accounts, so whilst you keep your personal data separate, you can continue to share music, apps, books, TV shows, movies etc. -
My Ipad did work on my wireless at home and works on other wireless but no longer at home. My IPhone works at home and others can use the wireless> Confused that it did work and now does not?
Look at iOS Troubleshooting Wi-Fi networks and connections http://support.apple.com/kb/TS1398
Additional things to try.
Turn Off your iPad. Then turn Off the wireless router & then back On. Now boot your iPad. Hopefully it will see the WiFi.
On your iPad go to Settings > General > Reset > Reset network settings and see if that enables you to connect.
Cheers, Tom
