Is there a nice way to undeploy / redeploy applications

How does one undeploy / redeploy applications without cycling the server and editing config.xml?
And is it safe to delete .../applications/.wl_temp_do_not_delete when the server is not running?

The original .ear is still open (Windows says "...sharing violation...in use..."), and the
new version is NOT deployed (however a server stop / start works from this point).
And what about UNdeploy? The "Deployed" checkbox does not appear to do anything
when unchecked / Apply'd.

and the server will automatically deploy (or redeploy) them.

[SOLVED] Is there a nice way to map scancodes to keycodes without HAL?

So I've just upgraded to X.org 1.8 and don't need HAL anymore, except for one thing - mapping my extra keyboard keys. The only way to do this without HAL that I can find is by just sticking a bunch of setkeycodes commands in my /etc/rc.local, which seems pretty messy to me. I was wondering if something has replaced this functionality post-HAL (maybe udev), or has it just disappeared?

I think I figured out a way to do it using udev, and I'll update the wiki page once I've tested it a bit.
Edit: All done, so now I can disable my hal daemon (big boot speed improvement ). Unfortunately I can't uninstall yet since hal-cups-utils has only recently moved over, and some packages still depend on the ancient gnome-vfs

Log windows - is there a nice way?

How about scrolling windows in swing displaying the tail end of general output, log messages, exception stacktraces etc. etc..
I've played with a TextArea with a Writer defined so that the write(char[] buf, int offset, int len)
method does an append to it. But adding stuff to allow early output to drop off the buffer would be messy if the program was long-running.
Anyone got a more elegant solution?

a Jtable maybe more usefull (a column for hour, one for user, one for short message or error code, one for large message or exception.toString(), ...)

Lastly, while installation of Snow Leopard client requires adjustments that could be denominated a "hack," all of the virtualization companies, including Parallels, support the easy installation of Snow Leopard Server without resorting to jumping through any hoops!

Now that Apple has dropped the price on Snow Leopard Server by 95%, I always recommend purchasing SLS in the first instance.

Safari and Others Hang. Is there a good way to diagnose which process is being a trouble maker?

I have a peculiar problem that has been developing for some time now.
Current Symptoms:
Safari (Any Version 5.0-Current) will load but WebProcess.app Opens to 100%
           on one core of CPU (Non-Responsive) and no web-pages will load.
VLC.app launches in the same fashion, one process pegs to 100%.
iMovie.app hangs. Not crashing, but failing to successfully launch.
Apple Script saved as an application behaves in the same way.
Attempted Diagnosis:
      I'm currently running OS 10.7.3 on a Early 2009 Mac Pro.
     I have tried:
Deleted Preferences, and Saved Application States. Then realized the
problem can't be in ~/Lib/Prefs. because it also is a problem on a clean user
profile I created to check. So I also looked in /Sys/Lib/Prefs. with no Success.
I have run disk permissions more times that I can count.
                This comes up with regularity but solves nothing:
Group differs on “Library/Preferences/com.apple.alf.plist”; should be 80; group is 0.
Repaired “Library/Preferences/com.apple.alf.plist”
Permissions differ on “usr/lib/ruby”; should be lrwxr-xr-x ; they are drwxr-xr-x .
Repaired “usr/lib/ruby”
Reinstalled 10.7.3 from the Combo Updater from apples website. No Help.
I did find launching any affected App from the Unix Exe File in the .app
         bundles (So it launches in terminal) will open them and allow them to
         runwithout issue (yea! temporary fix)!
Finally I booted with -x into Safe Mode. There the problem vanished. Hooray
        it's another piece of software or an extension I have loaded (Could be any over
        the past 6 months or so)!
So, I rebooted and tried to launch Safari immediately. It worked! Only after a
        minute or so, when the GUI and background Apps had finished
        loading, the problem returns.
What I need help with:
Is there any good way to tell what application is causing the problem or what
these four apps have in common? I have looked at Console Logs, Crash Reports,
etc. etc. but admittedly am not sure what to look for. I would be happy to post logs
or reports or more detailed info, if it would help.
Otherwise Thank-you to anyone who reads this and has any good ideas short

Reinstalled 10.7.3 from the Combo Updater from apples website.
The only way to reinstall the Mac OS X or repair the startup disk running v10.7.3 Lion, is to use Lion Recovery The combo update does not do that.
How much free space on the startup disk? Not enough free space can account for the problems with your apps.
Right or control click the MacintoshHD icon. Click Get Info. In the Get Info window you will see Capacity and Available. Make sure there's a minimum of 15% free disk space.
and no web-pages will load.
Try using OpenDNS as suggested here > Safari 5.0.1 or later: Slow or partial webpage loading, or webpage cannot be found
Use OpenDNS for better speed, more security, includes anti phishing filters, prevents browser redirects, and it's free.
Open System Preferences / Preferences then select the Network tab. Click the Advanced tab then click the DNS tab.
Click +

No, your purchase history cannot be deleted. Even though free apps did not include a money exchange, they are considered a purchase.

Nothing works to close this window except mouse/clicking... I don't like it being in the background when I'm working in other apps.

I'm not a Mac user, so I don't have a way to check this myself, but what's the behavior when you do disable it via the setting, then open an image? Does the image just open a window exactly the size of the displayed image? I assume this is different than what you're looking to see. Maybe a couple of screenshots would help others reading this thread (e.g., Adobe folks) to understand how you'd prefer it to work.
I think the intent is to make the default Photoshop behavior the same on a Mac as on a PC, and on a PC there's no way to eliminate the Application Frame at all.

I discovered Muse. Love it since version 3 (& Muse CC is great)
Using BC for website hosting. Highly recommend it.
BUT…
Whenever I use MUSE to generate a form (something which i like better in Muse than using the BC website form builder online) and I decide to export the form (or a complete Muse website with the form to use in a section of my DW controlled BC hosted website) as HTML I get a folder with all i need to place about inside another website… In my case in DW to push on a website that I am hosting in BC.
BUT…
Problem is that the HTML export generates PHP that needs to be used with regards to the form (it is located in the Script folder inside the MUSE Exported website folder)…
BUT… BC does not allow PHP to be used on its hosted websites…
          (something as a M.A.M.P. user, i find sad, but that is besides the point…)
SINCE I use Muse for quick custom sections on my Website
(I work in a modular way i.e. I can generate webpages in various apps
before combining or adding them via Dreamweaver in any of my websites I have hosted on BC)
AND the exported forms (as in PHP outputs) are not compatible with BC
(something which i find baffling since Muse can host forms on a BC website!)
I am wondering if there is a way to circumvent this bizarre case of (so it looks like) double standards with regards to Forms?
Should I push (publish) the website in BC from Muse
and then Import it in my other BC website via DW
(And if so, how to do it without damaging my main site in DW on BC?) ?
Right now, I place the muse exported HTML website folder inside my DW on BC main website
and then go in the form page and substitute the form (essentially recreate a new form!)
using the BC website form builder system that i then copy and paste from in code view into my DW form page to customize it with CSS in DW (while making sure I keep all the info required by BC forms to do the data acquisition work, of course).
This is a tedious way and looks totally bizarre to me,
as I already mentioned, MUSE can host forms on BC…
but just not when it is exported as HTML (with the PHP required scripts)…
Am I missing something ?

PS For those wondering why i do all this Muse and DW shuffling and mix : I have to do things in a bilingual (and soon with more languages) setup. in other words, my work is not just in English…it is in at least 2 languages at all times… something of a headache, but there it is. I just got to do it. (And use is great for quick and dirty… i mean clean… webpage building on the fly).

Is there an easy way to split a sting into an array and leave out indexes that contain what I am spliting by?

"Automation" is too manual - is there a better way?

I'm using automation to apply different effects (echo, reverb, etc) at various points in my track - but I can't believe I have to keep doing the same thing manually every time I want to change effects at each point. Is there a better way to apply the same automation of effects to various points (or regions) in the track?

Is there a quick way to navigate among frame labels?

I use scrollbar at the bottom of the timeline to go to different frames. This is slow if I have thousands of frames. I wonder if there is a similar interface like the Actions window for labels on timeline. I mean you can see all the scripts at left pane and be able to go there directly by clicking on anyone on the list. I would be nice if you can see all your labels in a menu and click to go there directly (I believe Director has that). Maybe I can put some dummy script in different label and then I can use Action window to travel to there.
Is there a better way?

Open the Movie Explorer window. At the top is a set of options marked Show: Select the fifth button, Show frames and layers. Scroll down the window and you should see a section marked Markers. You can double click on any of those items and the timeline will scroll to that frame marker.

Debuging Javascript code in LC is not smooth. Is there a better way?

I'm new to LC and I am finding the debugging process very cumbersome. I save my form, open it in Acrobat and enable debugging window there. I know there is a way to the have debugging window in PDF preview but that would not make much of difference. I actually prefer to have it in Acrobat because when it crashes I wouldn't loose my LC.
Is this the best way of debuging Javascript?
It would be nice to have access to variable dump. I am creating temproary text fields and pop up messages.

I cant believe Adobe releases such a large project like LiveCycle with no "officially supported" debuger.

You can create new accounts for each of you for future purchases, but all the content you have purchased through your current ID is permanently locked to that ID and cannot be assigned to another.
