Is there a place to type documents?

I bought my mac for school this year...I can't find a place like microsoft word or something where I can type reports and such...is there a place to do that that comes standard with mac ? or would i have to purchase it?

if you are looking for a word processor then there is Pages which is part of iwork. you should have a trial version of iwork with your computer. You'd have to pay for it if you want to keep it. of course, you can buy MS office 08 for Mac and use Word. there is also [NeoOffice|http://www.neooffice.org/neojava/en/index.php] which is a free alternative to iWork and MS office and you can use that.

    Yeah, but 1Password charges for both the iPhone client AND the Mac/Windows client, and it ain't cheap! Plus, it only syncs via Dropbox, and where I work Dropbox is banned due to security concerns.
    Sure, there is Secure Notes, a free form entry part of 1Password, but a bug in the program will not let you view all the text you can put in the field!! You have to EDIT the text to see the whole list! What if you accidentally delete or change an entry while scrolling through your entries??
    Plus NONE of the programs I have tried, and I have tried a lot, can find text IN the file - do a search and it will tell you what file/folder the text is in, but YOU have to scroll down through 400 entries one at a time looking for the entry.
    I use a program called Secure Text - I have many admin passwords, and DO not need a field based program. Secure Text is totally freeform entry. However, it suffers from the same search issue.
    If someone knows of a secure text program that uses a file/folder type of layout, free form entry, AND can actually tell you where in the file/folder the text you searched for is, PLEASE let me know! Plus sycing via some method other than Dropbox would be a plus.
    Before I got my iPhone, I used a program called Tombo for my WinCE based system AND my Windows workstation, and the synced up fine without iTunes, internet, DropBox type functionality or any of that horsecoller stuff Apple likes to throw on your neck.

    if you hid the menu bar and the navigation bar simply press the alt button, this will bring back the menu bar and form there you can right click and select which bars you want shown

    You can e-mail them to yourself and read the attachement.
    You can look for an app that provides this.

Is there a place in the SAP Community Network where I can find this documents/information? Or could be a place be created so that everybody can access this documents?

    You are facing this issue because of Business place already exist in BSEG table. It is update through substitution rule.
    Just create new program by copy the program "J_1IEWT_UPDATE_FI_FOR_BUPLA"
    Mention here your own logic that System check Business place and delete BP from documents and after that update new business place.

    I want to link to a specific place within a document from Captivate4.
    I have no trouble linking to the beginning of a document; however I want to be able to link to a specific chapter/area of a document I am creating. My plan is that as people progress through the e-learning they can link back to the electronic manual I am creating from where they left off.
    I have a workaround of creating separate documents and linking to them, but this is time consuming and messy.
    Does anyone have any ideas of what I can do; I have looked around the forums and, unless I am blind, can't find anything like I am looking for.

    Well, you have the Worksheet Title area, at the top of the report/workbook, and the Worksheet Text area, at the bottom of the report/workbook. Those are the areas available for you to type in text about the worksheet. Yes, there is a limit on what you can key in, but you can key in a decent amount of text. If you need to type in more text, then what you may want to consider is setting up some kind of shared folder on the network for Discoverer users to access. Create a separate document for each workbook and type away to your heart's content on whatever documentation you want for that workbook. You could always submit an enhancement request to Oracle to increase the limit on the number of characters you can type into the title and text areas. My opinion is that if you have a large amount of text you want to type, type it up in a separate word document and make that document available to the users. You can reference to that document in your workbook text, and maybe give some briefer text in the workbook itself. Something to think about.

    I uploaded several documents to each document set.  There are several identical documents in different document sets.

    There are 2 forms of creation. The first one is where we point a link. The second one is where we point the attributes.

    I have two document sets: Project 1 and Project 2.
    There are 2 documents “instruction.doc” and “invoice.xls” uploaded to Project 1.  Each document has a field – link (a link to this very document).
    I want to add a link to “invoice.xls” in Project 2.
    I want to do it in that way a user could choose a list of links from a dropdown menu.

    Lookup column is the attribute of file. Attribute can not be upload! . Did you try to use the content type of link to document? If yes, you can understand my question. I want to change uploaded.aspx ( link of document) and add lookup column to this form.

    I would be very careful about changing any of the tables as it is probably not supported, I would discuss it with Oracle first to see what there view on it is.

    Is there a way to place a word document into InDesign that autoflows text boxes onto every other page?
    Example
    page 1 from word doc imports to page 1 in indesign,
    page 2 from word doc imports to page 3 in indesign,
    page 3 from word doc imports to page 5 in indesign, etc.
    Than, take a different word doc and import to the even pages of the same indesign document,
    Example
    page 1 from word doc#2 imports to page 2 in indesign,
    page 2 from word doc#2 imports to page 4 in indesign,
    page 3 from word doc#2 imports to page 6 in indesign, etc.

    I don't import Word docs... but I don't think there is a simple 1-click solution.
    You probably need to set up a facing pages document with a master text frame on each.
    Create the pages you need and link the left text frames to each other and the right to each other.
    Importing should work from there however not sure how the page-break works (if you have that set-up in Word).

    I have a problem with a User Defined Object of type Document/Document Lines.
    I have a custom form for the UDO. I can add new Documents with one or more Document Lines. These are stored in the database as expected, both Father table and Child table is updated. I can also update existing entries through the UDO, but I can NOT add new Document Lines to an existing Document.
    I can add the lines in the matrix of the form, but they are not written to the Child table when I press Update. There is no error messages or anything, the new lines are just not written.
    Any suggestions?

    When you add a line to the matrix did you increase the size of the datasource as well?
    A sample of code to add line:
    dbMOR1.InsertRecord dbMOR1.Size
    dbMOR1.Offset = dbMOR1.Size - 1
    m_oMatrix.AddRow 1
    (dbMOR1 is the satasource of the child table that is bound to the matrix columns).

    Under each document, There are sub ordinate documents included with it. User needs a way to print all the documents at once  that have status as RL( Released). Is there a way to Print all documents with out drilling down in to each document and print. Please tell me a way to figure out this.

    You can. If it's one of the HP printers that support AirPrint then you can do so directly (this page lists the printers and has info on Airprint http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4356), there is the Epson iPrint app for some of their printers. Otherwise there are third-party print apps such as Print N Share, Print Central etc

    AppleWorks has never been available for legal download.
    Have you done the usual trouble shooting steps:
    Quit AppleWorks
    Delete most or all of the Recent Items list.
    Remove the Preferences files to the Desktop or to the Trash.
    Launch AppleWorks to see if the problems remain.
    You'll find Recent Items in:
    username > Documents > AppleWorks User Documents > Starting Points > Recent Items
    There are several preferences files.
    Go to:
    username > Library > Preferences
    Locate, select and delete the file com.apple.appleworks.plist
    Still in the Preferences floder, locate and open the folder AppleWorks.
    Select and delete the two Cache files and the Preferences file.
    Button Bars is also a preferences file, but may be left where it is IF you have no problems that appear related to the Button Bar, and wish to preserve any changes you've made to the Button Bar.

    Connect a blank powered external drive to the PC.
    Right click on the Disk in the File manager and choose format: exFAT 
    (if it's a XP machine, first install exFAT from Microsoft and reboot)
    navigate to your user account folders on the PC and drag and drop copy (or copy and paste) to the external drive.
    (if a program has your files, then export them out first)
    Hook up the drive to the Mac, and transfer files to the desktop or to their same appropritate folders.
    Import photo's into iPhoto program, import music into iTunes etc and they will manage those files.
    You can continue to use the external exFAT drive between Mac's and PC's
    Do not format the drive NTFS or FAT, NTFS can't be written too by the Mac and FAT can't hold over 4GB sized files.
    If you format exFAT on the Mac, it likely won't work correctly on the  PC.
    "Migration" type programs are a utter waste of time and effort between PC's and Mac's for the fact that only certain files (and no programs or anything else) will work between them, also it's a hassle and takes too long. So don't even bother with it.
