Is there a virus?

Hi. After downloading the most current iTunes, I had problems. So I called Apple Care twice. They told me to take my iPod to the Apple Store, where they erased my iPod. When I restored it and put the stuff back on, it all went in, but now one whole album AND a few other songs now get skipped over and don't play at all. They don't even play in iTunes. I asked someone at work, and they said that there's a virus and I should do a virus scan. Is that really the problem and if so, how do I do a virus scan on the iPod. I noticed that the album was my first ever purchase on iTunes and the other songs were purchased a couple days after that. Please help. Would appreciate it. Thanks.

I was able to deal with the songs with the exclamation points, because I called Apple Care, but they couldn't help me with the songs that won't play at all and if I have a virus. Some of the songs with exclamation points I couldn't do, though. But here is what I did with the exclamation points.
You have to locate the song on the hard drive--I have a PC, so this is what I did for this. I went to My Music from the START menu. Then double clicked on the ITUNES folder and then double clicked on the ITUNES MUSIC folder. I then located the song and double clicked on it. It makes another copy of the song either underneath or above the song with the exclamation point in iTunes. Once there are two there. I made sure that the highlight was then on the song with the exclamation point and then deleted that one. The song will then play.
However, some of the songs I couldn't find on the hard drive. I guess they got accidentally deleted or something. If this is the case, be careful, as I don't want that to happen to you.
Hope this helps, and can someone help me with the songs that don't even play on iTunes and do not have exclamation points? If I find out the problem, I will come back and mention what I did. Thanks.

  • HT2311 Is there a virus protection for the apple iPad and iPad Air and iPhone 5 that we need to use for security?

Is there a virus protection for the apple iPads including the iPad Air and the iPhone 5, and if there is, how do we download it into our apple products? With everything that is going on it seems like I'm having more problems with freezing and crashing, getting kicked off my sites more often then ever! Is there a way to stop this?

There is no known malware capable of infecting an iOS device, unless it has been jailbroken. Due to the security that prevents malware, real anti-virus software on iOS is not possible, so none exists.
As to the problem, I'm unclear on exactly what you're seeing. What exactly does it mean to get "kicked off your sites?"

  • My iMac won't turn on after power flickered on and off.Is there a virus affecting it or is something ele wrong?

My iMac was on and we had our power flicker because of weather conditions. I know the computer is hooked up right because it was on before the power went out.So my question is, is there a virus that had been affecting it before it went off, or is the power button broken? And any help would be appreciated because we have just taken in other computers for various reasons and we really don't want to take it in again.Oh, and i don't really know which model it is. Thanks

Try an SMC reset - sometimes works:
    SMC Reset
    Shut down the computer.
Unplug the computer’s power cord and disconnect peripherals (printers/external hard disks, etc. but not keyboard or mouse).
Press and hold the power button for 5 seconds.
    Release the power button.
    Attach the computers power cable.
Press the power button to turn on the computer.

  • Is there a virus scan for ipad

Is there a virus scan for ipad

As of now there are no known viruses for the iOS operating system. So you should be relatively safe and there's no need for anti virus software.
YOu still need to practice safe intrernetting. Don't click on random links in e-mails, don't enter your personal data into sites you don't know, etc. You can still receive phishing mails and the such.
But the nature of the iOS makes it very virus resistant (with the caveat as long as you don't jail break it, if you jail break it then it's no different from other devices and you're on your own there)

  • Problem playing on POGO since I upgraded. Says there are viruses on this browser

I was playing on POGO and tried to load a game. The message came back from POGO that there were viruses on this browser and because of the risk it could not open the game

There were problems with Firefox 3.6.14 that prevented Pogo games from working, this was not due to viruses. This was fixed in Firefox 3.6.15
What is the full message you get when you try to play a game?

Just delete the email and forget you ever saw it. There is nothing it can do to your Mac.

  • I've just had my yahoo mail on my ipad hacked. I've changed my yahoo mail password. Is there an virus scan apps for iPad that are recommended for use?

I've just had my yahoo mail on my ipad hacked. It seems to have used all my contact on iPad to and from. Is there any virus software for iPad I can use. I've changed my password for my yahoo account last night  already, but it seems emails are still going out. I've just been notified emails are still going out this morning

Your iPad doesn't have a virus.
Perhaps those mails were ones that were queued and just went out? Or maybe they rehacked your account?
mine was hacked a couple of weeks ago and they just mailed and ran.
You might want to change your password again.
it's also possible that your address is just being spoofed.

  • Is there anti virus programs available for IOS?

is there a virus scan programs for Mac ios?

Antivirus software will not work on ios as an onboard app.
Due to sandboxing, the AV software cant scan anything except the data in the app.
Add to that the fact there are no viruses for ios unless you jailbreak your iphone, it makes it pretty useless.

  • Are there any viruses effecting Mail?

I seem to be having problems with "Mail" at home and at work. Is there any viruses out there and what can I do to get rid of them?

Does entering the password work, or not?
If so, here's probably something wrong with your keychain, which keeps track of passwords like this. Try repairing it:
    http://support.apple.com/kb/PH7296
If that doesn't work, try deleting that account password from the keychain entirely, which will allow Mail to re-create that entry.

  • Is there a virus connected to a flash player update?

two weeks ago I downloaded an update to flash player.  after that i started getting the blue screen of death and it would shut off IE.  I took it too a repair shop and they said I needed a new hard drive.  I had one installed and all my files copied over.  Got it home and started getting the blue screen of death again.  Ran Norton and another virus check and it said there were virus if a few programs and finally it locked up the computer.  Last week i had my desk top and i also updated the flash player and with in 20 minutes after got the blue screen of death on it.  I ran my Mirco Tred Titamium anti virus and it locked up the screen, would not let me uninstall it or any thing. so needless to say both are in the shop getting their memorys erased so I can start over.  Is there a virus sneaking in with the flash player that the anti virus programs are not catching??

Norton is a nasty business; I have experienced this myself a few years ago.  If you try to start your computer with their expired software, they will crash it HARD!
Regarding Flash Player, try a clean install by following these instructions: http://forums.adobe.com/thread/928315
then download the appropriate offline installer from http://helpx.adobe.com/flash-player/kb/installation-problems-flash-player-windows.html#Ins tall_in_a_firewall_proxy_server_environment
In the futute there will be no more need to download updates; Flash Player will be silently update in the background.

  • Is there a virus with the iTunes 11 update?

A friend mentioned to me that there is a virus with the new iTunes update 11.1. Has anyone heard of this?

    Absolutely not.
It's conceivable that there could be a site out there somewhere offering a fake iTunes update, but if so, I haven't heard of it. This would be security industry news if it was happening, and if anyone had seen it, and I follow just about every Mac-related security news source there is. So, while conceivable, this is highly unlikely, and has nothing to do with the official update available from Apple anyway.
There have also been a number of reports I've seen where some Windows anti-virus software has been falsely identifying iTunes updates as malware. Perhaps that's what your friend is referring to.

  • Is there a virus for Mozilla that causes it to incorrectly type in certain symbols like " instead of the at sign used in all emails. Also É for the question mar

My keyboard does not work properly in Mozilla when I type symbols. The @ (i copied and pasted this) comes out as " instead. The question mark is wrong and others as well. Do I have a virus in Mozilla. There is no problem in Word. I have reinstalled Mozilla and the problem went away only to reappear.

It is possible that you have switched the keyboard layout by accident.
    * http://support.microsoft.com/kb/258824 - How to change your keyboard layout
Windows remembers the keyboard layout setting per application and you may have changed the keyboard layout by accident via a keyboard shortcut.
    * http://windows.microsoft.com/en-US/windows7/The-Language-bar-overview The Language bar (overview)
    * Make sure that you have the Language bar visible on the Windows Taskbar
    * You can do that via the right-click context menu of the Taskbar: Toolbars > Language Bar
    * Check the keyboard language (keyboard layout) setting for the application that has focus via the icon on the Language bar
    * You need to do that while Firefox has focus because Windows remembers the keyboard layout setting per application
    * The default key combination to rotate the layout is the Ctrl+Shift or Alt+Shift combination that Firefox uses for some menu items
    * To avoid an unintentional switch, assign a specific key sequence (Alt/Ctrl+Shift+number) to select keyboard layouts and remove the key combination to rotate layouts (Alt+Shift or Ctrl+Shift)
    * Control Panel > Regional and Language Options > Keyboards and Languages > Change keyboards > Advanced key settings > Change key sequence

  • Is there a virus scanner for iPhoto? Photos are superimposing on another?

One particular photo keeps superimposing onto many other photos so when they are opened only a black square reveals or else a black square with an exclamation mark in it. How do I detect a virus and wipe it out? Maddie

    That's not a virus that's a damaged library database.
    Option 1
Back Up and try rebuild the library: hold down the command and option (or alt) keys while launching iPhoto. Use the resulting dialogue to rebuild. Choose to Repair Database. If that doesn't help, then try again, this time using Rebuild Database.
    If that fails:
    Option 2
Download iPhoto Library Manager and use its rebuild function. (In Library Manager it's the FIle -> Rebuild command)
This will create an entirely new library. It will then copy (or try to) your photos and all the associated metadata and versions to this new Library, and arrange it as close as it can to what you had in the damaged Library. It does this based on information it finds in the iPhoto sharing mechanism - but that means that things not shared won't be there, so no slideshows, books or calendars, for instance - but it should get all your events, albums and keywords, faces and places back.
Because this process creates an entirely new library and leaves your old one untouched, it is non-destructive, and if you're not happy with the results you can simply return to your old one.
    Regards
    TD
