Is there a way to tell how my cookies were deleted- I did not do it, no-one else was on my computer.

All of my prefilled login information is gone. I have malwarebytes (manual) and I run Microsoft Security essentials. Firefox is set to remember used ID's and passwords, and always accept cookies. Clear history when closes is NOT checked. I would like to find out if there is a program on my computer that could have done this, or could some interaction with a web page could have caused it?

Windows has a file "auditing" feature that can track when files are touched, but this is not turned on by default because it creates absurdly voluminous logs. (Also, it might only be in the Pro version.) Without that data, I'm not aware of any way to track down the culprit. Perhaps someone on a Windows-specific forum would have more insight.
Web pages cannot clear a saved password. Web pages can clear their own cookies, but not the cookies of other sites.
Potential suspects would be cleanup utilities like CCleaner, and privacy tools that remove personal data (although, I would think only the cookies, not the passwords).
If you want to try to recover older versions of the database files that store your cookies you could try the Windows 7 "Previous Versions" feature.
Open your current Firefox settings (AKA Firefox profile) folder using
Help > Troubleshooting Information > "Show Folder" button
Leaving that window open, switch back to Firefox and Exit
Pause while Firefox finishes its cleanup, then copy the following files to a safe location in case you need to restore them:
* cookies.sqlite - cookies
* signons.sqlite - saved passwords
* key3.db - key file required to access signons.sqlite
Note: If Windows hides file extensions from you, turn off the hiding feature so you can work more accurately with file names. See this article for the steps: [http://support.microsoft.com/kb/865219].
To check for and restore previous versions, right-click a file > Properties > Previous Versions.
Regarding the two password-related files, if they can't be restored from the same date, I'm not sure they will be usable.

  • Is there a way that I can make my browsing history secure?? Like so no one else who uses my computer can erase it. Or is there a way that I can have it copy to a folder, automatically?

I would like to make it so that my browsing history cannot be cleared or is saved to another folder automatically. I would like to make it so that you have to have a password to clear the history.

To save it automatically when you close Firefox you could use the [http://www.pikey.me.uk/mozilla/?addon=bb Bookmark Backup] add-on. That add-on can be used to save bookmarks, history, passwords, cookies, preference files and other user profile data automatically. It saves 7 copies of your user data to a location chosen by you, one for each day of the week.

Warp Stabilising is a two part process.
    Analysis and Stabilising.
Both have a banner across the Program Monitor during the process ( unless you have turned that off.
Analysis start automatically on forst application...but you can rock in there and start adjusting the parameters.
You may need to hit "Analyse" Button again.
You should see the number of frames and the estimated duration during this process.

Is there a way to recover my photos on my iphone that has not been backed up.  It has been in rice for 24 hrs.

No since thay have not been backed up. Hopefully the phone will work long enough after the 'rice treatment" for you to recover the phone and do a backup. The rice sometimes does not work. Good luck.

  • Is there a way to know how many rows were rejected using external tables?

    Hi,
I'm developing a package that needs to load different kinds of text files into the DB.
I was wondering whether there's a way of knowing in SQL or PL/SQL how many rows were rejected if my external table is defined with "reject limit unlimited".
I'm using the external tables in "insert into ... (select ... from external_table where...)"
sql%rowcount returns the number of inserted rows
I was hoping for something similar/easy to get the number of rejected rows as well.
I know I can try to analyze the bad file for the number of records if there's no other way...
    Thanks in advance.

this is a certain "no there's no other way" or should i wait for other responses (no disrespect - just want to make sure :) )Well the difference would be that this external table will have no complex logic. You would simple read in all the lines from the bad file. The chances that this is broken are therefore very slim compared with your original external table.
And tehre are many other ways possible. For example you can first copy the file into a real internal (temp) table without using any processing logic but with using an external table. Then do the processing / logic checking of the data and move the data from this temp table into your final data structure. Since you move the data two times the whole process will be slower then the original version.

  • I imported 100 photos, when I was reading photos iphoto crushed, and when I restarted iphoto all photos imported had disappeared! Is there a way to find them. They were imported, they can not have disappeared from the hard disk?

I imported 100 photos from my camera (Canon) into iphoto. The importation went well, and when I was watching the photos, suddenly iphoto crashed. I restarted iphoto and realized that the photos had disapered. The events are availbble into iphoto but they are empty, the photos have dispeared. I can not believe they disapeared as they have been imported and read once, they must be hidden somewhere on the disk? Is there a way to find where they are?

Assuning you're running iPhoto 9 or later try the following:
1 - launch iPhoto with the Command+Option keys held down to open the First Aid window.
    2 - Run Option #4, Rebuild Database.

The same as the one replaced. What does it say on the receipt?

  • Is there a way to view how much charging time is left when charging iPod?

Is there a way to view how much charging time is left when charging our iPods (without having to disconnect and play a song to see the little battery icon)? The iBooks tell us the percentage and approximate time left to full charge. This would be a great feature for iPods as well, right? How can we suggest such a feature to the Mac techs for the next update?
    5th Generation iPod, iBook G4   Mac OS X (10.3.9)

determining an ipods estimated remaining battery life is difficult because it doesnt know how long the backlight will stay on, how many times you change a songs, etc.
those are all variables that change the amount of battery

  • Do I need to be worried?  Is there a way to tell if I have a bad MacBook?

    Hello all,
I just picked up a used MacBook Pro from a friend for $650. It is within the dates that there was the issues with the video chipsets from NIVIDIA. This notebook was not used that extensively, I don't think, so I am not sure if I am in the clear regarding this issue or not. Is there a way to tell if this MacBook is covered under he known issue even though it is beyond all coverage. It notes that if the issue appears within the 1st 4 years of purchase, it will be covered. Is this the best that they can do? Or can an apple guy run something on the system, or look up my S/N# and tell me if I have a notebook with the issue?
Reason I ask is to known whether I need to use this for the purpose I bought it for, or if I can rely on it as my main notebook as well.
Thanks for all, or any, help that someone on here can be. Love this notebook (and only had it for a few hours), but just wondering how much it can be trusted, or if there is a way to know.
Thanks you guys...hope I will be welcomed to the MAC club, as I have NEVER owned a MAC until now!

You won't be sure until the day you stop using it or it develops issues.

    Correct. NVIDIA issue
Is this the best that they can do?
At this point, it is what it is. Anything beyond this would be at Apple's discretion, on a case-by-case basis.
Or can an apple guy run something on the system, or look up my S/N# and tell me if I have a notebook with the issue?
You've already noted that your MBP falls within the range. It does have the GPU that may develop the issue. If the issue is occurring now, their test will show it. If the issue is not currently occurring, the test will not show it. The test tests whether or not the issue is occurring, it's not a predictor as to if/when it will occur. Some GPUs within that range will not develop the issue.
Reason I ask is to known whether I need to use this for the purpose I bought it for, or if I can rely on it as my main notebook as well.
I would feel comfortable using it as my main computer (I have a MBP that also falls in that range), but this computer or any other in the world could develop issues at any time. I backup frequently and in different ways and strongly recommend that you do, and everyone else does too. Every HD will die at some point in ongoing use. Some will take seconds, some years. Some will give notice, some not. Some will leave platters with recoverable data, some will have the platters gouged by failed heads, with little to no recovery possible. The only safe computing is by backing up data (and although I've never had to resort to it, having a second machine available; I keep most of my "old" Macs, so if my "main" machine would ever go down, I can just grab my data from a backup and keep going).
Thanks for all, or any, help that someone on here can be. Love this notebook (and only had it for a few hours), but just wondering how much it can be trusted, or if there is a way to know.
Heat is a big enemy of electronics. Monitor periodically with iStat Pro. Fans should speed up long before CPU hits thermal shutdown range of 100C.

  • HT201317 Is there a way to tell when a photo in your photo stream was taken?

Is there a way to tell when a photo was added to photo stream. How do photos appear on photo stream? Are they downloaded from my iPhone when I save a picture that was texted to me? Do they then go right into my photo stream?

Photos added to camera roll are added to your photo stream (when the camera app is closed, you are connected to wifi and you have at least 20% battery life remaining).  When you save a photo from a text message it is saved to your camera roll, and is therefore also added to your photo stream.  You can't, however, tell when such a photo was added.
