Is this persitence necessary?

How can caches be used for loading-from-tables and read-only-from-caches purpose?
The existing environment is stated here under:
Application1 updates the database tables (in the Message schema of Oracle 10g database) repeatedly and at the same time AppGPS reads from these database tables constantly. The throughput of both side is very high and the burden is heavy. In order to improve the performance, I plan to keep these database tables in caches and let the AppGPS to read data from caches. The procedure is described like the following:
Application1---> write ---> tables ---> load in---> Caches ---> read ---> AppGPS.
My questions are:
1. How can I load the table data repeatedly into caches (to update the cache data constantly) without too much burden?
2. In this way, is persistence necessary?

Hi,
Caching in Toplink is very effective and robust.Whenever data is written to table,Cache should be refreshed for it to hold latest data and same can be read by other application for it to always get updated data.Toplink also supports Cache Coordination in distributed environment.
Since your requirement is to handle caching ,I definitely suggest to use persistence mechanism as Object relations and data consistence will be handled by Toplink and provides an easy way to configure the parameters declaratively in xml files.

i need make icloud account but tell me the operation couldn't be completed please iam need to solve this problem necessary, Thank you

Why don't you use the option "Get a Free Apple ID" to create a new iCloud account with a free @icloud.com email address for all the iCloud service like Mail, Contacts, Calendars, Reminders, Notes Storage & Backup etc.?
This would be the easiest way.

  • Is there ANY possible way to back up my Macbook (2009, running on OSX 10.5.8) using Time Capsule using a cable/not using the internet? I'm willing to come in-store to do this if necessary!

Time Capsule/Time Machine were working fine until about 1-2 years ago when my family started having troubles with the internet provider (AT&T). While on a 2 hr long phone conversation with them trying to fix it, they changed the wireless key code or whatever so Time Capsule could no longer connect to the network (icing on the cake - they didn't even fix the issue). And it had been so long since I had initially set up Time Capsule that I didn't know how to set it up again.
Situation is a bit more complicated now because I'm living on campus in another state, and the campus wifi is very slow/goes in and out a lot. They don't recommend connecting routers to their network bc they say it will make it even worse.
It just makes me really nervous that I haven't backed up my laptop in a couple years. I have thousands of priceless photos and years of hard work that I would very much like to keep safe. I paid all this money to have an external drive and am dying to continue using it! It just doesn't make sense that I can only use it wirelessly - there must be another way. I'm desperate to back up my laptop and will come to Genius bar if necessary to resolve this issue!
    PLEASE HELP!!!

This can be done easily with ethernet.
    Please follow the instructions strictly.
To make it easier I want you to do this overnight so you can turn off all your current connection to the internet.
Just go to the airport fan in to the top right and turn airport off.
Get ethernet cable and connect the laptop to the TC lan port.. ie <-> ones.
Press and hold the reset on the TC for about 10sec. until the front led flashes rapidly.
Open the airport utility.. go to manual setup and change the wireless to off. (so other people around you cannot join your network of one).
Ignore all the errors.. they won't stop the backup working.
Go to the TM and reselect the backup target disk as the TC.
It should start after 2min and run through to completion.
That is it.. for a backup of many GB it might take a few hours.. so make sure the laptop has power plugged in and the sleep is off.. (on early ones I think this is needed but I am a late arrival to the scene).. sleep doesn't affect later OS.

  • Snow Leopard:  was this really necessary?  aka "multiple problems"

ok, upgraded to Snow Leopard and I can't see any improvements (apart from Quick Look but haven't tried its functions.
I have noticed several subtle inconveniences though... (see below)
This is a brand new MacBook Air and it was already very quick but I thought it would be nice to enjoy a better performance! Unfortunately everything seems to have slowed down a little. And the fans seem to come on almost instantly when watching youtube for example. Previously you had to be doing that for at least 7-8 minutes before the fans came on.
    So:
    - the machine overall is noticeably slower.
    - starting and shutting down now takes at least twice the time it used to.
    - my iDisk has gone crazy. It syncs constantly without actually syncing. This is now driving me crazy. Why oh why?
    - some of the basic system preferences didn't "transfer" with the upgrade (safari home page, wallpaper, background colour of folders etc etc)
    - Word and Excel are very sluggish and crash if I edit anything
    - when starting up a file called "recovered items" appears in the trash ...?
    - right clicking on the dock icons comes up with a windows-like transparency of options! how do I change this back to the standard silver one?
    - my internet connection seems a bit slower but haven't got proof of it, it just the whole thing feels slower
In short, for the first time my Mac feels like a windows laptop... very disappointed.

    HI,
Check to see how much free space there is on the startup disk.
Right or control click the MacintoshHD icon. Click Get Info. In the Get Info window you will see Capacity and Available. *Make sure you always have a minimum of 10% to 15% free disk space at all times.* Insufficient disk space can cause some of the problems you are describing.
*Recovered files in your Trash after restart.*
The recovered files are temporary files used by Mac OS X applications. *Usually temporary files are deleted by an application when it no longer needs them*. If an application quits unexpectedly, the temporary files may not be deleted by the application. When you restart your computer, Mac OS X moves these temporary files to the Trash.
*"right clicking on the dock icons comes up with a windows-like transparency of options! how do I change this back to the standard silver one?"*
Might have to reformat and reinsatll 10.5 to do that.
For iDisk. Open System Preferences/MobileMe, select the iDisk tab. At the bottom of that window turn iDisk sync OFF.
Users are reporting that after several restarts your internet speed will increase.
Free internet broadband speed test here.
http://www.speedtest.net/ Click where it says; Begin Test
    Download should be about 15.30
    Upload about 9.95.
For the fans, try resetting the SMC. http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1411
Hopefully this will help you out a bit and answered some questions... also, if you have any 3rd party (non Apple) application, you might need to update that software from the developers web site.
Repair disk permissions before and after any updates or upgrades.
Quit any open applications/programs. Launch Disk Utility. (Applications/Utilities) Select MacintoshHD in the panel on the left, select the FirstAid tab. Click: Repair Disk Permissions. When it's finished from the Menu Bar, Quit Disk Utility and restart your Mac. If you see a long list of "messages" in the permissions window, it's ok. That can be ignored. As long as you see, "Permissions Repair Complete" when it's finished... you're done. Quit Disk Utility and restart your Mac.

  • We have just moved from a PC to iMac. We have been in the habit of switching off at the wall our PC connection, overnight. We have been told this not necessary with iMac. Is this correct?

Is it recommended to switch off all power to iMac, overnight?

No, it is not recommended or necessary.

  • Is this update necessary...

I purchased my mac book pro July 31st. It runs very hot. Should I download the "MacBook Pro 15-inch SMC Firmware Update" even though it was posted two months before or would it already be installed in my computer?

Hey everyone, I'm kind of in the same boat. I've bought and used Apple products since I was in elementary school (25+ years), and have always been extremely happy with my products. No problems with first Mac Classic, Performa, first version of iBook, iPod, etc. I bought my MBP on July 12th, and it's hot and it whines once in a while. Didn't bother me, but if I'm honest it does. I was surprised because people have been talking about it for months and I figured Apple would be sending out the newest ones with things fixed. Does reapplying that heating paste and having them put in a new logic board really solve the issues? I don't want to part with my baby to have to send it back

  • RH7.0 and Oracle 8.1.6.1 (does this work???)

I'm losing my mind. I have a brand new installation of RH 7.0 and I'm trying to install Oracle 8.1.6.1. The install goes fine, but I can't create any databases once the install has completed. I've tried creating the default database during the install, but the "database creation progress" never gets past 0% (creating database files). I've also tried using dbassist after installing oracle, and the same thing happens. I've also tried the following manually:
    $ svrmgrl
    SVRMGR> connect internal
    Connected.
    SVRMGR> startup nomount pfile=/usr/local/oracle/admin/RBLX/pfile/initRBLX.ora
At this point, SVRMGR just hangs. Any further attempts to connect to SVRMGR results in ORA-03113 end-of-file on communication channel. In order to connect using internal, I have to reboot the machine.
This is very disturbing. I'm using a machine with an i810 chipset, so RH6.2 is really not an option for me. If anyone has a successful experience installing 8.1.6.1 on RH7.0, please share the success story!!!
    I'm dying here...
    For clarification, here's the particulars:
    ORACLE_HOME=/usr/local/oracle
    LD_LIBRARY_PATH=$ORACLE_HOME/lib:/usr/lib
    PATH=$PATH:$ORACLE_HOME:$ORACLE_HOME/bin
    ORACLE_SID=RBLX
    Here's the pfile:
    # Copyright (c) 1991, 1998 by Oracle Corporation
    # Example INIT.ORA file
    # This file is provided by Oracle Corporation to help you customize
    # your RDBMS installation for your site. Important system parameters
    # are discussed, and example settings given.
    # Some parameter settings are generic to any size installation.
    # For parameters that require different values in different size
    # installations, three scenarios have been provided: SMALL, MEDIUM
    # and LARGE. Any parameter that needs to be tuned according to
    # installation size will have three settings, each one commented
    # according to installation size.
    # Use the following table to approximate the SGA size needed for the
    # three scenarious provided in this file:
    # -------Installation/Database Size------
    # SMALL MEDIUM LARGE
    # Block 2K 4500K 6800K 17000K
    # Size 4K 5500K 8800K 21000K
    # To set up a database that multiple instances will be using, place
    # all instance-specific parameters in one file, and then have all
    # of these files point to a master file using the IFILE command.
    # This way, when you change a public
    # parameter, it will automatically change on all instances. This is
    # necessary, since all instances must run with the same value for many
    # parameters. For example, if you choose to use private rollback' segments,
    # these must be specified in different files, but since all gc_*
    # parameters must be the same on all instances, they should be in one file.
    # INSTRUCTIONS: Edit this file and the other INIT files it calls for
    # your site, either by using the values provided here or by providing
    # your own. Then place an IFILE= line into each instance-specific
    # INIT file that points at this file.
    # NOTE: Parameter values suggested in this file are based on conservative
    # estimates for computer memory availability. You should adjust values upward
    # for modern machines.

  • Norton 360 tells me it does not support installation of my 10.6.8 but I have to upgrade to 10.7. Is there any benefit doing this and if so how do i do it? my thanks for any advice...

I was encouraged to purchase antivirus protection NORTON 360 for my MacBook pro. However when I went to install it it says NORTON 360 doesn't support installation of 10.6.8 but i have to upgrade to 10.7.
Is this really necessary, can you tell me what are the benefits. Does it cost to upgrade?
I'm thinking I will take the Norton back and demand a refund for misleading me. It doesn't qualify this on the box either.
I'd appreciate any advice with thanks...

Installing Norton / Symantec products on a Mac will result in nothing but misery while conveying no benefit whatsoever. Return it to whomever it was that encouraged you to waste your time and money on it.
There will always be threats to your information security associated with using any Internet - connected communications tool:
You can mitigate those threats by following commonsense practices
Delegating that responsibility to software is an ineffective defense
Assuming that any product will protect you from those threats is a hazardous attitude that is likely to result in neglecting point #1 above.
OS X already includes everything it needs to protect itself from viruses and malware. Keep it that way with software updates from Apple.
A much better question is "how should I protect my Mac":
Never install any product that claims to "clean up", "speed up",  "optimize", "boost" or "accelerate" your Mac; to "wash" it, "tune" it, or to make it "shiny". Those claims are absurd.Such products are very aggressively marketed. They are all scams.
Never install pirated or "cracked" software, software obtained from dubious websites, or other questionable sources.
Illegally obtained software is almost certain to contain malware.
"Questionable sources" include but are not limited to spontaneously appearing web pages or popups, download hosting sites such as C net dot com, Softonic dot com, Soft pedia dot com, Download dot com, Mac Update dot com, or any other site whose revenue is primarily derived from junk product advertisements
If you need to install software that isn't available from the Mac App Store, obtain it only from legitimate sources authorized by the software's developer.
Don’t supply your password in response to a popup window requesting it, unless you know what it is and the reason your credentials are required.
Don’t open email attachments from email addresses that you do not recognize, or click links contained in an email:
Most of these are scams that direct you to fraudulent sites that attempt to convince you to disclose personal information.
Such "phishing" attempts are the 21st century equivalent of a social exploit that has existed since the dawn of civilization. Don’t fall for it.
Apple will never ask you to reveal personal information in an email. If you receive an unexpected email from Apple saying your account will be closed unless you take immediate action, just ignore it. If your iCloud, iTunes, or App Store account becomes disabled for valid reasons, you will know when you try to buy something or log in to this support site, and are unable to.
Don’t install browser extensions unless you understand their purpose. Go to the Safari menu > Preferences > Extensions. If you see any extensions that you do not recognize or understand, simply click the Uninstall button and they will be gone.
Don’t install Java unless you are certain that you need it:
Java, a non-Apple product, is a potential vector for malware. If you are required to use Java, be mindful of that possibility.
Java can be disabled in System Preferences.
Despite its name JavaScript is unrelated to Java. No malware can infect your Mac through JavaScript. It’s OK to leave it enabled.
Beware spontaneous popups: Safari menu > Preferences > Security > check "Block popup windows".
Popup windows are useful and required for some websites, but unsolicited popups are commonly used to deceive people into installing unwanted software they would never intentionally install.
Popups themselves cannot infect your Mac, but many contain resource-hungry code that will slow down Internet browsing.
If you ever receive a popup window indicating that your Mac is infected with some ick or that you won some prize, it is 100% fraudulent. Ignore it. The more insistent it is that you upgrade or install something, the more likely it is to be a scam. Close the window or tab and forget it.
Ignore hyperventilating popular media outlets that thrive by promoting fear and discord with entertainment products arrogantly presented as "news". Learn what real threats actually exist and how to arm yourself against them:
The most serious threat to your data security is phishing. Most of these attempts are pathetic and are easily recognized, but that hasn't stopped prominent public figures from recently succumbing to this age-old scam.
OS X viruses do not exist, but intentionally malicious or poorly written code, created by either nefarious or inept individuals, is nothing new.
Never install something without first knowing what it is, what it does, how it works, and how to get rid of it when you don’t want it any more.
If you elect to use "anti-virus" software, familiarize yourself with its limitations and potential to cause adverse effects, and apply the principle immediately preceding this one.
Most such utilities will only slow down and destabilize your Mac while they look for viruses that do not exist, conveying no benefit whatsoever - other than to make you "feel good" about security, when you should actually be exercising sound judgment, derived from accurate knowledge, based on verifiable facts.
Do install updates from Apple as they become available. No one knows more about Macs and how to protect them than the company that builds them.
Summary: Use common sense and caution when you use your Mac, just like you would in any social context. There is no product, utility, or magic talisman that can protect you from all the evils of mankind.
    ... i have to upgrade to 10.7.
Is this really necessary, can you tell me what are the benefits.
Assuming you are asking about upgrading OS X: no, it's not necessary, but if you want to upgrade you can skip OS X 10.7 and upgrade directly to Mavericks, or Yosemite when it is released. Both are free and preferable to Lion, which would cost money. If and when you decide to do that be sure to back up your system prior to upgrading OS X, as a precaution against the unexpected.
I have heard anecdotal reports that Apple has, or soon will, stop providing security updates to Snow Leopard. I have not confirmed them personally, but Apple generally ceases to support outdated OS X versions after a few years. Snow Leopard was superseded over three years ago. That's no reason to panic but it is something to keep in mind.

  • How do I fix this error?

I have this pop-up as you can see in the image,
but I cannot click any buttons (Allow/Deny) with my arror/mouse. I'm using Google Chrome, Windows 7, 64-bit, and the latest version of Flash.
I think the problem may be because I have increased the font/display size on my computer to 150%, but this is necessary to have.
I have unistalled Google Chrome and reinstalled it, but it has not fixed the problem.

I believe you are correct.  I seem to recall a bug regarding the font dpi size on Windows being in our bug database.  While we work to get this fixed, you should be able to work around this using other methods.  Please see this FAQ (which refers to Mac, but is also applicable on Windows).

  • See this JLS specification and give a code that works according to it...

    5.1.5 Narrowing Reference Conversions
The following conversions are called the narrowing reference conversions:
NB: (NOT PART OF SPEC) : Rules for converting from class S to an interface K
From any class type S to any interface type K, provided that S is not final and does not implement K. (An important special case is that there is a narrowing conversion from the class type Object to any interface type.)
Give me a workable code example that illustrates this concept.
    Thanks

    1) For every narrowing (primitive or reference)
conversions there is a corresponding widening
(primitive or reference) conversion in the
opposite direction if the code is to be run without
throwing a run time exception. Where did you get that from? For the example code given by stevejluke in reply 5, there is no corresponding widening conversion in the opposite direction (the conversion in the opposite direction is in fact another narrowing conversion, from an interface type to a non-final class type). So no, in order for the codeto run without producing an exception, there does not need to be a widening conversion in the opposite direction.
Furthermore, primitive conversions never throw any exceptions anyway.
    This can be put as:
It there is a narrowing (primitive or reference)
conversion from S to T, then there should be a
widening conversion from T to S (which is taken care
at Compile Time itself). No, this in itself is not correct
    This guarantees that there
will be no run time exception.
Is this a necessary and sufficient condition for the
code to run without an exception? (Or)
Is it otherwise? Now its unclear what you really want to ask. It is not true that there is always an opposite widening conversion. Perhaps you mean to ask "If there happens to be an opposite widening conversion, then will the narrowing conversoin always execute at runtime without throwing an exception?". If this is what you are asking, then the answer is no: Consider a cast from type java.lang.Object to type int[]; This cast uses a narrowing reference conversion for which there is an opposite widening reference conversion (you can look them up in chapter 5 of the JLS); However, at runtime, the Object reference might be to any instance of Object, and so might fail. E.g.:
    public class Test {
        public static void main(String[] argv) {
            Object obj = new Object();
int[] arr = (int[])obj; // A narrowing reference conversion from type Object
// to type int[]. There is a corresponding widening
// reference conversion from int[] to Object,
// but this cast will still fail at runtime as the runtime
// type of arr is not int[]
    2) Every narrowing conversion should be carried over
by an explicit cast using the cast operator, like:
    S = (S) T;
No. This is true for narrowing reference conversions, but not for narrowing primitive conversions (which do not require a cast where the value is a compile-time constant small enough to be represented within the value set of the type it is being converted to).

  • Why does Signature with an email address appear on the top left hand corner of each template? Is there a way to remove this or is it standard? Thank you!

I'm not sure this is necessary or is it proof to the customer of where the proof/invoice is coming from for approval?
Thank you for your time and consideration!

    Hi Brandon,
By default, if you are not placing the signature field in document manually, a signature block ( having signature and email address ) is placed at the bottom left corner of document by default.
While sending the document from Send tab, just check "Preview, Position Signatures or add form fields" and hit Next. In Preview page, you can drag and drop Signature field along with other form fields at appropriate position in document.

  • Responsive design causing overlapping of content. How do I fix this?

I have an image that slides up over the menu when you alter the size of the window viewing the webpage. This is until it gets to a certain size and then it applies the css from another media query but my issue is how can I stop the picture sliding up within a media query. I dont want to have to alter the design to make the functionality work. If there is a way of doing this without having to change the layout that would be great. The website is btccs.co.uk. Thanks.

When I first loaded your webpage, I couldn't event see the menu so I see what you mean. The main problem I see is the max-height attribute that is being applied at the different screen resolutions.  I don't really feel this is necessary here because I can't see anything that would cause the menu to be taller then the height needed.  I would just remove that.  Also there are a lot of repetitive "margin-top" attributes around too.  They all seem to be offsetting and unnecessary.  After those are removed I still see one more overlap due to .slider_img having a negative top margin which is overlapping the menu.  Once that is removed, everything appears to be in working order from what I can tell.

  • My cube size is go on increasing essbase how to handle this ?

ex:day 1 my cube size is 60 gb.after 2 days it go 80 gb.how to handle this in essbase

May be you can try to do a restructure of the Cube. But it will take more time and and when this restructure is being performed no one will be able to access the cube.
All the pag files will reduce to less files once its done.
We have around 170 pag files and after restructure they have reduced to 130 pag files. You do not need to change any data inside the cube to do this.
The process to do from F to H and back from H to F.
    Restructure to H drive
Create the directories on the H drive if they do not exist. (not sure if this is necessary)
Go to properties of the cube (storage tab) and remove the F drive, and add H drive
Do a stop and start of the database
Go back to properties and insure the H drive is there
Right click on the cube and confirm the H drive is  there
Then go to cube and do a restructure
    Restructure back to F drive
Go to properties of the cube (storage tab) and remove H drive and add F drive
Do a stop and start of the database
Go back to properties and insure F drive is there
Then go to cube, right click and do a restructure back to F.

  • Need help understanding why "1 is always equal to 1" is necessary in my Advanced Action

I am using Captivate 7 and publishing as a SWF.
I have an interaction that works, but there's one script that I use (which I found in a tutorial) that I don't understand the purpose of.
The interaction is contained on a single slide where a user clicks two buttons in any order and a graphic appears after the second click. On each button I have a Conditional Advanced Action where I first check that it will always be true that "1 is equal to 1", then assign each variable with "1", then check that each variable was equal to 1 after which the graphic appears.
The part that confuses me is checking if "1 is always equal to 1." Why is this script necessary in this case? Is it necessary because I'm including a Standard Advanced Action (assigning variables to "1") within the Conditional Advanced Action? Or is related to the fact that I'm doing everything on one slide (not using an On Enter slide event executing a Conditional Advanced Action)?
    Thanks.

Perhaps it will help to think using different terms.
If you need a script that performs a check against some condition, you need a Conditional Action. Maybe you need to show an image if button 1 has been clicked. And if button 2 has been clicked, you need to show a different image.
Before checking to see which button has been pressed, you need to hide both images so that only the desired image is shown. So you need to perform the same action each time before checking some variable to take a specific action.
This is where the "If 1=1" would come from.
Each time the script is run, hide both images. Since the check to see if 1=1 will ALWAYS evaluate as true, the "ELSE" part will never be reached. So you would always perform the same actions just as a Standard Action would do.
Perhaps if you posted some screen captures of your scripts, we might better explain it.
    Cheers... Rick
