Is Veeam and BackupAssist good solutions for backing up my environment?

Hi,
I currently have 3 VMWare hosts and several physical servers (with around 100TB of data). To backup my data, I was recommended Veeam for the VMs and BackupAssist for the physical servers.
I am not an IT person, so being easy to use and manage is a huge thing for me (think something like CrashPlan Pro). Are those solutions the best ones for my needs? I don't mind paying a bit if it means easy of management and even the ability to see the status of my backups on a dashboard.
Thanks for your input!

  • Best solution for backing up 3 Mac's with one drive

I know there are several options for backing up one computer, but I would like to be able to backup 3 computers on a single 1TB external drive. Is this possible and would it be possible to use Time Machine on all 3 pc's. I know I will have to move the drive between them. I would prefer a NAS, but cost is an issue.
Any help would be appreciated and I hope this is the correct forum for it.

TM will also work. I would give each machine it'sown partition, assign one partition to each machine as its TM backup volume.
I know that a Time Capsule at $299-1TB and $499-2TB is much more then just a USB2 or even firewire hard drive, but remember that with a Time Capsule you are also upgrading to a 802.11n wireless router with true dual band support (simultaneous 802.11g and 802.11n connections, each running at their native speeds). Just a thought, if your wifi network is getting old too and you are thinking of an update there at the same time.

  • Flex Charting 2 and the best solution for upgrade

    Hi!
I worked with FlexBuilder 2 trial a few months ago (last
months I worked with "WIN extension serial"). On June 10, 2007 I
decided to aquire Flex Charting 2 and buy it on Adobe Web Site for
$337.59 and I decided to wait for flexbuilder 3 until the end of
the year. But now, Adobe anounced future plans for the Flex
Charting 2 which will be "eliminated" and incorporated in the
Flexbuilder 3 Professional edition at 2008.
Buying FlexBuilder 2 after 1 November ($249) and paying an
upgrade for FlexBuilder 3 Standard ($99), in the future, can I work
with FB3 standard and my serial of Flex Charting 2? or must I buy
Flex Builder 2 ($249) and after then buy Flex Builder 3
    Professional Upgrade ($299).
    Sorry my english

  • Seeking a document management and file sharing solution for an online client portal

    Hi
Late last year our developers created a Member’s Portal for a client’s website (built with WordPress) enabling Members to have a secure area for a discussion forum and crucially, secure
document storage and access, and file-sharing. The WordPress plugin chosen for the Portal was WP-Client.
We have a problem though and I wonder if you or anyone can help?
Basically, the solution was supposed to be like Dropbox or Google Drive but within the Portal but with slight differences. The problem is that the current solution we have isn’t like either
and has various flaws which make it unpopular with most members. It uses free software called kcfinder – see
http://kcfinder.sunhater.com/ as the basis for the file management systems.
So we are seeking to change the file management system. This system must do the following:
It’s got to be intuitive e.g. the action open or download must be ‘typical’ (it is not so in kcfinder you have to right click to download for instance
You must be able open an Office document (especially Word, Excel and Powerpoint) online in situ within the portal. Currently in kcfinder you have to download it.
You must be able to edit it online. Currently you have to download it, open it, edit it, re-upload it and overwrite it.
The client uses Sharepoint (I think that’s part of MS Office 365) and wants to be able to I think drag docs from there straight into the Portal file management system (I think at the moment they have to download a file from Sharepoint to their hard drive
    and then upload to kcfinder.
We are currently investigating using a WP plugin for Google Drive
https://wp-glogin.com/drive/ and Google Apps for work to create some sort of file management system that meets the requirements.
However having loaded the plugin, the developer has found that two issues remain that so far defeat us:
Firstly, and this seems to be applicable to using Google Drive outside the portal as well as in it - you can’t edit Word docs online in Google Drive without creating a Google Doc. This means we get duplicate docs which we don’t want – and they’re in
the wrong format. We want Word and no duplication. The members/users don’t have time to delete and change the format back to Word. I guess the same applies to other Office docs.
Second, apparently you can’t create a new folder in Google Drive in the portal.
So my question for this forum is really what can you suggest, either as a fix to the Google Drive solution or is there a totally different plugin or set up we can use? Ideally it should
be Office-based or friendly since most of our users use Microsoft Office.
The other proviso is that it must be affordable. We/client cannot afford the $10 per user per month that some systems charge. The attractiveness of the Google option is not only the wide
use of Google Docs (notwithstanding the fact that you can't open Word in GD instead it creates a duplicate in GD) but the fact that the plugin is cheap.
    Thanks in anticipation.

    Hi,
Why don't you take a look at Office Web App server which provides browser-based file viewing and editing services for Office files:
    https://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/jj219435.aspx
It can be integrated with your customized website, and provide the ability to online view/editing Office documents..
    Hope it helps.

  • Solution for backing up iphone itunes 10.5

    in the thread
    https://discussions.apple.com/thread/2528336?start=15&tstart=0
they have the probelem with seeing a backup option when syncing or right clicking on the name of the device. while the command line works for some people running itunes 9.2 , it doesnt work for running itunes 10 or for mac users. the easiest solution to this is to download a program called backoff for mac or windows. simply quit itunes, and click the toggle off, then back on again.

    Close your iTunes,
    Go to command Prompt -
(Win 7/Vista) - START/ALL PROGRAMS/ACCESSORIES, right mouse click "Command Prompt", choose "Run as Administrator".
    (Win XP SP2 n above) - START/ALL PROGRAMS/ACCESSORIES/Command Prompt
In the "Command Prompt" screen, type in
    netsh winsock reset
    Hit "ENTER" key
    Restart your computer.
If you do get a prompt after restart windows to remap LSP, just click NO.
Now launch your iTunes and see if the problem has been resolved.
If you are still having these type of problems after trying the winsock reset, refer to this article to identify which software in your system is inserting LSP:

  • How should i back-up my PC to transfer my files to iMac and continue on iMac for back-up?

I'm upgrading to an iMac very soon. What/how should i back-up my PC, then migrate to my iMac, and then continue to use hard drive to continually back-up my iMac? I'm concerned about compatibility issues and formatting and so on...

    Hi there BDempster,
You may find the information in the articles below helpful.
iOS: How to transfer or sync content to your computer
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1296
iTunes 11 for Windows: Sync contacts, calendars, and other info with iPod, iPhone, or iPad
    http://support.apple.com/kb/PH12317
You can use iTunes to sync the contacts, calendars, notes, Safari bookmarks, and email account information on your computer with your iPod, iPhone, or iPad. iTunes also syncs this information from your device to your computer—for example, if you add contacts on your iPad, syncing adds those contacts to Windows address book or Outlook Express on your computer.

  • Will use of Web Property Extractors be a good solution for this scenario?

    Hi all
We have a scenario where we would like to use our existing SAP Portal
environment along with the TREX to search in a a database with 150000+
cases much similar to SAP Customer Messages.
We are thinking of implementing the following scenario:
    1) We develop a custom application that extracts cases from
our "customer message application", and converts them into html-files.
    2) These 150000+ html-files are published on a web server that can be
seen by the SAP Portal (and corresponding TREX).
    3) We integrate this "artificial" web site into our portal using a Web
Repository Manager with configured Web Property Extractors (content is published in meta tags).
    4) We set up an index and configure search iviews etc, so the
supporters are able to search in different parts of the "customer messages" (=different properties).
    My questions are now:
    1) Can the Web Property Extractors be used in other repository managers
(like the CM repository manager, eg) or can you set up a Web Repository
Manager to look into a file server instead of a web server or will the above mentioned scenario be the only feasible solution?
    2) What considerations should be done in relation to the above scenario in order to assure good search
performance and a well performing database? We have a bunch of text
snippets (that can be very long) that we wants to extract into
properties - thus being stored in the database. Will this be a problem?
Or will it not effect performance if the database is running on a SAN?
    Best regards,
    Martin Søgaard

Maybe something along the lines of this A Form to Design a Form sample would suit?

  • Older printers and Mavericks - one solution for you?

My frustrations in getting a great older printer (LaserJet 5MP) to work are not confined to the latest Mac OS.
However, this time I have truly figured it out (by myself), and in victory, want to share with others.
CIRCUMSTANCES - MacBook Pro, up to date Mavericks, but cleanly reinstalled with my essential apps (i.e. no legacy OS builds, files, etc, this after an apparent malware attack).
Our MB Air would print wirelessly to this networked printer, but I could not get this MBP to do so, either wirelessly, networked via Ethernet, or connected directly to the printer via Ethernet.
I checked inside the following folder structure on the MB Air : HD - Library - Printers - PPD's - Contents - Resources ->
(I only did this on instinct; I'm not naturally a techie)
Comparing the Resources folders in both computers, I found LOTS of files in the folder of the computer that is printing normally (600 .gz files, 60.3 MB inside this folder). Inside the MB Pro, the folder was empty, except for a single sub-folder (en.lproj, whatever that is).
I then copied the following file over to the parallel location in the non-printing MB Pro : 'HP LaserJet 5MP.gz' - this was just a guess.
NOW, when I attempted to add a printer (System Preferences - Printers & Scanners - Add), instead of a blank window, the OS responded by calling out for additional software. For some reason, it added 237 of the .gz files, into the same folder via the internet. The printer is now recognized (not just generic either) and all is well. Both computers can now print independently. (if it added other files elsewhere in the OS software, I am not aware).
I am hopeful that this will be adaptable to YOUR particular printer situation.
I'm sure Hewlett Packard hates me for continuing to keep a circa 1995 era printer running, but this machine is very well built, and I doubt we'll ever see such a durable machine made again. Sorry HP! As long as replacement toner cartridges exist, I expect to be running this printer.
Oh, and about HP (and similar corporations making this stuff) - the website, for all the times I've attempted to use it, has been extremely consistent - it's just random nonsense, from the customer's point of view. I can find narrative in one part of the site that tells you that LaserJets are not supported under Mavericks, and yet in an adjacent location, there's an invite to download the drivers for Mavericks. "Stay away" is about the most helpful advice I could give. (it has been like this for as long as I've attempted to get help there).
Good luck - this stuff is incredibly time consuming and frustrating. Fingers crossed that you can crack the code.
    Grant.

You can buy HP Jetdirect parallel print servers cheap on eBay.

  • Is SNMP RO and telnet good enough for IPM?

    Dear friends,
I have only SNMP RO access to the router and telnet access as well from Ciscoworks LMS.
But i dont have SNMP RW access.
Is it possible that i configure ip sla monitor manually on the routers / switches and just use IPM to poll these routers and collect the SLA statistics?
    Thanks a lot
    Gautam

IPM requires read-write access.  However, you could try configuring the collectors on the devices manually, then import those collectors into IPM using the "ipm importcollector" cli command.  I haven't tested doing this without having SNMP RW configured, but it should work.  IPM will just not be able to fully manage the collectors, but it should be able to poll them.

  • I bought a used iphone5. My carrier activated my phone but will not give me the phone until we find out the password to the previous owners icloud account. Am I able to just switch to my icloud account or what would be a good solution for me?

I bought a used iphone5, I got it activated but my carrier won't let me have the phone until I get the password from the previous owner but the passwords we were given don't work. Is there a way I could switch icloud user to my account without their password? Otherwise, can't I use the phone to atleast call and text without being signed into icloud account?

    Welcome to the Apple community.
Unfortunately, you cannot do very much with your phone unless you get assistance from the previous owner, they should either provide you with the password to unlock it or remove their account from the phone entirely remotely through iCloud.com > Find My Phone.

  • Can you recommend a good source for learning about the Environment

Rather than post a bunch of obviously uninformed thread topics, I would really appreciate some recommendation of some books, DVDs, online vids, etc.
I've figured out and executed some of the basics such as playing the arpeggiator and the midi delay, and recording the output of the arpeggiator/delay to a track, but, obviously, there's a whole lot more (understatement of the year so far?)
The environment seems to be a snakepit of danger - don't want to screw up any projects.
Any recs would be greatly appreciated.
