Is Verizon trimming $10 off most data plans -- or not?

Read today 2/4 that Verizon is trimming $10 off most data plans--but no sign of it on My Verizon.

The changes aren't effective until tomorrow (Feb. 5):
Some Changes coming to More Everthing.!

Why won't verizon sell me an international data plan for my new iPad?

Thanks for your response Meg. Verizon is definitely not customer friendly.  I do have the monthly prepaid domestic data service that I subscribed to from my iPad when I bought it a few months ago.  They didn't advise me of any other available plans at the time.  You are correct that they are now saying that in order to get an international plan I need to cancel my current monthly plan through one Verizon department (and abandon any remaining data mb) and then subscribe to a contract plan (handled by a different verizon department).  But here's the catch: in order to get international service I need to be a contract customer for six months (which doesn't help me as I am going to Europe next week).  Of course, if I had bought an ATT iPad I wouldn't be shut out like this since their monthly international plans are readily available through the iPad at any time.  I feel that Apple and Verizon should not have touted the new Verizon iPad as comparable to ATT's internationally (which they did) without fully disclosing the hoops one has to jump through.

  • Verizon Max Data Plans are not a deal

I just read about the Olive Branch Verizon has extended to us obstinate unlimited data plan holders.
The Max Data Plans are a weed dressed up to look like an Olive Branch.
I did the math on my unlimited nill vs a Max Bill with Edge phones.   Currently I pay $201.75 for two lines + unlimited data.
I have an S4, so I don't need a new phone,  but if I did I would go Note 3.  My wife has an iPhone 5 64gb, so a 5s 64gb would be a good choice.
After crunching the numbers and entering Edge would go up to 221.68 per month.   That's right up not down.
Knowing this, why would I give up unlimited
    data?

    Michael,
I am so tired of reading these Verizon forums, and seeing all these people who have been victimized by losing their unlimited data become Verizon's biggest defenders. Misery truly loves company. I don't care what they say, be it saving a few bucks for losing unlimited data (yet ignoring opportunity costs in keeping unlimited data OR even leveraging the unlimited data in other ways by utilizing "assumption of liability"), or praying for this magical day of July, 2014 when we're all supposed to lose unlimited data (which is complete and utter nonsense, forget speculation.) I thought that Verizon was supposed to be the one providing us a service, and not the other way around...though I suppose the Stockholm Syndrome folks enjoy that, I guess.
Problem is there doesn't appear to be many people who have unlimited data offering information that would help people like us KEEP unlimited data; all it is are these people inundating these forums with misinformation and misery about losing unlimited data.
So I will just tell you what I did to upgrade and hope that points you in the right direction.
Recently, I did use the Device Payment Plan (different from Edge, which sounds like utter garbage) to get a Note 2. 700 divided by 12 plus $24 total. I figured why not; anything to get off this Samsung Droid Charge. Now, I am utilizing the alternate upgrade method, which allows me to upgrade a basic phone in my plan and switch that phone to the line with the Note 2, which I then will give the Note 2 to the wife, who also has an unlimited data plan. I probably should have done this earlier, but I initially thought it'd be too much work. However, after I did the math, even after activation fees and such, I still get a better phone at a better price than if I Device Payment Plan'ed it.
I will let you know how it goes...I have three unlimited data plans that I can do a "transfer only" to get the hot new phones, and I plan on using anyone of them. And despite what some of you Verizon apologists say, I do not lose unlimited data when I transfer an upgrade to another line, which apparently, I can do THREE times...
I am just sick and tired of seeing these people inundate folks with such bad information. Since this is a peer-to-peer forum where Verizon customers help each other, I figure let me help my fellow Verizon customers SAVE their unlimited data and also help lead in the ignoring of these bitter haters who just want other people to be miserable by having you lose your unlimited data plan.

  • Will Verizon drop the outrageous $10 data plan soon?

I'm not buying any new phones with VZW until they do. I refuse to buy their outdated "feature" phones to get around it and be locked in for two more years for whatever other fees they feel like coming up with. I'm having a ton of problems with Asurion getting a phone replaced, them sending a defective refurbished one, etc...Asurion is not a good service but that is another topic...
I'm going to stretch these phones out as long as I can and then either move to another carrier or hopefully VZW will drop the requirement. I am happy with just about everything on VZW but this forced data package, and it's been discussed enough in other threads. I just need to know - are there ANY plans anywhere - any VZW reps who know something that'll post from their home computer...are we going to get stuck with this for the long term?

Just to mention it PhoneNerd12, continuing to use Verzon but not buying a new phone or starting a new two year contract really isn't hurting them much, in fact your even benefiting them by not making them give you a new phone for so cheap.
An not that the point of my point is to hurt them per say but more my point is what they really make the big profit in, is the continual monthly charges for what ever it is you are using with them for.
Just my own 2, but if you really want to look out for yourself and are not still with in any contracts, look for another carrier now.
As you may have read, there are many others who have good deals and also I would seriously recommend looking into the pre-paid market too.
That's what I did and I'm saving huge, and even tripled my air time. An I don't have to deal with any contracts or EFT's and I haven't lost one aspect of my cellular reception, and all on one of the most modern smartphones you can get.
Is a win win all around for me.
So do your homework and look around and you'll be a happy camper again before you know it.

  • Verizon Data plan costs 80% more than AT&T's

Wow, so I am still in the 20th century when it comes to my cell phone...err, wireless device.  I don't have a smartphone yet and, of course, no data plan.  With the introduction of the iPhone 4 on Verizon, I figure that maybe it's time I get with it and buy a phone capable of delivering my work email to me where ever I am.  I'm finally willing to swallow the $29.99 for the Verizon data plan.  Not so, young grasshopper.  To get email from an Exchange server account, Verizon requires the "Corporate" data plan which is a whopping $45 per month!
So much for competition.  AT&T charges $25/month for 2GB of data, no matter how you have your email set up - POP, IMAP, Exchange, etc.  AH HA!...you say.  Verizon's plan is for UNLIMITED email and data, not only 2GB.  True, but here's the thing - by using both Verizon and AT&T data usage calculators, I will use less than 2GB of data based on how I expect to use the phone.
Why should I pay 80 frickin percent more for the same **bleep** thing?  Don't get me started about speed and multi-tasking either.  Oh, and what about dropped calls?  I probably average about 5 per day (in the LA metro area) with Verizon when I am out on appointments.
    Screw you Verizon.

    TedKord wrote:
Did you even read his post? He needs exchange email, so has to pay $45/month for the Verizon corporate plan. That's $20 more per month, not $5.
That said, he does have the option of going with ATT, even if for only the one phone. If you're due a new phone, you've gotta be within a few months of the contract end. By June, ATT wil probably be announcing the iPhone5. Might be worth the wait.
Thanks Ted.  I thought I stated my gripe pretty clearly.  I have been reasonably satisfied with Verizon, with the exception of their crappy choice of phones, and how they cripple the ones they have.  I just found it incredible that they charge 80% more for data than AT&T if you want email off an exchange server.  It's not like it costs them more to send and retrieve email this way - data is data.  I am most definitely NOT going to get the iPhone 4 now.  I'm going to wait for the iPhone 5 and then decide what I want to do.

  • Do I finally have the proof we are being ripped off on DATA?

I believe some jetpacks are targeted some are not. It may be random or it may be based on your data usage. If you use a lot of data (Let's say 10 Gigs per month) it is easier to sneak in a Gig or two. Here is my situation. I had two Jetpacks. My MIL lives on our property in a separate house. She uses internet very sparingly, mostly for e-mail. I added a jetpack for her use. For a year she averaged about 2 or 3 hundred MEGABYTES per month. In August I decided to upgrade my phone to a Samsung Smartphone. I was able to use the Smartphone for my own Hot Spot. So, I turned off my MIL jetpack that was no longer under Contract and gave her my Jetpack that is still under Contract.
Keep in mind I use about 10 to 12 Gigs a month on the internet, my MIL never used more than a couple hundred Mebabytes per month. So guess what happened?
My MIL suddenly went from using 2-300 Megs a month to using 2.4 GIGS a month.
I can only conclude my Jetpack has been either hacked or Verizon pads the usage to get me to go over and add another 2 gigs. I checked the daily usage for the month and  there was a sudden 1.6 GIG data usage in a 24 hour period. It occurred on the 22nd of September. I know my MIL did not use the Data. This usage was tied to the Jetpack that I have been using for the last year and consistently had unusual data usages. Of course Verizon denies this. It is always my fault. Now I guess it is my MIL's fault. I am seeing Data usage when the jetpack is turned off. She checks her e-mail about three times a week.
I can understand there might be a delay in the data use report but when the Jetpack is turned off for three days and still shows data usage during that period I think it is a lot more than a "delay" Someone is using our data and Verizon is charging us for data we are not using. Verizon can deny it all they want but I believe my experience is proof.
I have talked to Verizon and they are sending me another Jetpack to use in hopes it is the jetpack that is at fault. It will get a new SIMM card.
I don't think it is the Jetpack at fault. But we will see. Personally I believe Verizon is capable of sending me a new one then stopping padding my usage so it appears it was a faulty Jetpack. Either that or the new one will have a different "address" and who ever is hacking it won't have access until it gets hacked again.
In either case there is a real problem with this entire DATA system.
BTW. When I upgraded to a Smartphone I bought the phone rather than go on a contract plan because I wanted to be able to switch to AT&T if this continued when my Jetpack contract was up. The Verizon 4G coverage is very spotty where I live but AT&T is better. I explained this to the salesperson. The salesperson agreed with me, said he understood. What the salesperson failed to mention is the $600.00 smartphone he sold me would not work on anything but VERIZON so I would still be stuck with Verizon unless I wanted to spend another $600.00 for a phone to switch to AT&T. I think this shows the mindset of Verizon and its employees.
So you might ask, why do I stay with Verizon? Simple, right now it is the only game in town where I live until my Jetpack Contract is up and I decide to take the $600 loss on the Phone and switch to AT&T. Had I known the phone would not work on AT&T I might have made the switch when I upgraded to the Smartphone and just kept the Jetpack account until that contract was up.

When it comes to the issue ofbthe smart phone all you need to do is unlock it to accept the new simm card. Congress has made it legal and now requires company to provide either an app for unlocking the phone or, an  unlocking service. Simply download and run the app or take it into your service providers store and it can be unlocked. Hope this is of some help.

  • This isn't a question but rather a warning to anyone using the new OS for iphone 4.  The imessage uses up your data plan like crazy.  I called Apple about it and they said no it's not doing it.  I called AT

The new OS is burning through my data plan like crazy and here's why.  Imessage uses your data plan and not your texting plan.  So every time you send a text message to someone with an iphone it uses imessage and it uses your data, not your text plan.  I couldn't figure out why I was burning through so much of my data plan so quickly.  I called Apple and they said, no it's not the data plan doing it.  I called AT&T and they said, yes, the imessage uses data instead of your texting plan if you are texting to another iphone.  Also, the new OS runs your apps all the time, even when you aren't using them.  So if you are not near wifi your apps are running and burning your data plan.  The AT&T guy took me through the steps to turn off the apps.  You can still use them but they won't be running constantly.  Seriously Apple, you should let people know this.  It does say it in the fine print on the website "data rates may apply" under imessage but most people will never read this.  So my data plan started on October 10th and it's already at 175 megabytes and I only have a 200 megabyte plan.  I've never used more than 50 to 75 megabytes in a month.  Apple get it together and be honest with people and tell them.  Quit denying the problem.  Most people have probably not even discovered this yet.  Wait till you get your bill.

    kimmie92592 wrote:
It's not really common knowledge because I've talked to several people today and none of them knew about it.  Also, when I called Apple they said no the new OS is not using data.  Totally wrong answer.  You'd think they'd know about it and at least tell people.  The people who are going to be hit by this are people like me with the 200mb plans.  I just think it's best to spread the word so people can know what's happening.  I still don't know how I went through so much data in such a short period of time.  It's not happening anymore though, not since I fixed everything up last night.
If you are using a free wifi connection, there are no data charges with iMessage.  But in an area where you did NOT have a wifi connection, of course it used 3G and of course you got charged for it (or had it count against your plan limits).
I'll ask again - without a wifi connection, just what did you think was happening?  How did you think your iPhone was able to magically send a message WITHOUT using any data connection?  A little bit of rational thought would have made you realize that there was no way, over a 3G connection (which is a service provided by your cellular service provider, NOT Apple), that you can send or receive ANYTHING without your service provider's plan picking it up.
Nothing abut iMessage has ever hinted that it can, in any way, bypass your service provider when NOT using a wifi connection.

  • VZW - Bring back global data plans or this will be my last trip with a VZW phone in my pocket

(Background -I travel from the US to NZ&AU 3 times per year 2-3 weeks at a time for business. After my last trip I raved about VZW's data service in AU and was looking forward to having it available again. I even purchased a Droid 2 Global for my upcoming trip because I knew i could rely on the service. Called VZW today to make arrangements..)
Last trip (September 2010) : $65 for unlimited data
    This trip (: $20/MB
    Dear Verizon -
At this data rate your product is no longer a reliable business tool - it is at best a novelty. Even though I have a capable device in my pocket, I will have to search out wifi hotspots throughout my trip b/c your service is cost prohibitive. This change makes a clear statement that you do not want to be taken seriously as a global service provider, and is disrespectful to those of us who signed contracts with you based on the availability of your international data plan.
As my trip is just 1 day away, I do not have time to find a new provider before i leave. This, however, will be my last trip abroad with a Verizon phone in my pocket if the unlimited data plan is not brought back. Early termination fee? Doesn't look so bad when you consider that it costs more to download 15MB than it does to terminate my contract.
If anyone at Verizon actually reads this board, please take this thread as a notice from myself and those who post below that you will be losing us as customers if this situation is not rectified.

    Agree completely.
Background:  I've posted a few replies to this topic on Droidforums.net (Under Droid 2 Global).  Just found out about this plan being canceled this week while preparing for a 1 month trip to Japan - figured I would just call to reinstate the plan only to be told it no longer exists.  I am a new VZW customer as of this past November and had used the unlimited data plan on a trip passing through S. Korea and 2 weeks in the Philippines in December - Droid 2 Global worked flawlessly for data once Global Support was able assist with the correct settings.
I am extremely disappointed and feel I was misled when entering into a 2 year contract.  From what I have read it sounds like plans were in the works to cancel the plan with a notice being sent to existing customers last November or something.  Nice that I was told the truth as it was the primary reason I switched from AT&T.  By rights the salesman had an obligation to tell me "you know, this plan is being eliminated as of January xx so if you want to keep it you need to keep it active".
Regarding the 4G LTE service, yes the CS agent I spoke with the other night mentioned this as well but either way I am hosed into getting a new device at that point so give me one good reason to stay with VZW.  At this point as I mention below I am perfectly willing to cut my losses and go back to Brother Orange or other.  In all honesty what I have found in the past 3 months of nationwide travel is that the call quality is muddy at best compared to my old RazorV3 on Orange and seems to be better on NON-VZW networks.
Fool me once, shame on you... Fool me twice shame on me.  This is going to hurt VZW more than it hurts me.
If anyone else on this forum could verify if I was given the correct contact names noted below (this came via text msg from CS agent as I was still speaking with her - bless her heart):
1.)  Daniel S. Mead is in fact the President & CEO and
2.)  T.J. Fox is the Regional President for IL and WI.
I have every intention of writing a more formal version of below and sending via Fedex or USPS with signature required as it seems electronic means is not allowed.
The following is posted on the above mentioned forum:
    Strength in numbers...
I recall one of the earlier posters had the idea of a petition and I see that Word attachments are allowed here so perhaps I'll draft something up on the flight this Sunday from LAX to NRT and post it next week. Perhaps not so much a petition but more of an "open letter", potentially post it on VZW's own forum as well.
I talked with CS last night for a while regarding another issue and also brought this up. The agent provided me with the following contacts and suggested I write a letter:
    Daniel S. Mead - President & CEO
    One Verizon Way
    Basking Ridge, NJ 07920
T.J. Fox - Regional President IL, WI,
    777 Big Timber Rd.
    Elgin, IL 60123
If anyone else wants to take a crack be my guest, I just think that with minimal effort Verizon might take notice.
    Key points as follows:
1.) $20/Mb for Global Data (Verizon doesn't seem to "get" the idea that "Global" is bigger than just North America, Canada, Mexico and Europe) is not just inconvenient it is outrageously overpriced rendering the phones useless:
Again, using my last months usage as a reference and I don't believe I am a heavy user - email, some browsing, Weatherbug, Nav. etc:  250Mb at $20/Mb = $5,000
Do they seriously think anyone can afford that? All they have done is to hurt their own bottom line.
I'd be really curious to know how many subscribers to the $64.99 Global plan they had or in other words how much revenue they lost.
I'd be happy with a compromise but to eliminate it completely?
2.) According to Global Support, Data has to be either on or off, no way to selectively leave on POP email which is really the only thing I have a need for and simply turn off everything else. Even if you use an App killer how do you really prove there is no data transferring unless you specifically tell the device.
Might be time to root if I could be sure it would eliminate unwanted data transfer.
3.) The availability of this plan vs. other carriers was the only reason I switched from AT&T last November. No mention was ever made of this plan going away. Misleading sales tactics IMHO.
4.) Canceling my contract (family plan at ~ $190/month) that is only 3 months old at this point would sting a little bit for me in terms of 2 lines @ $320 each for early termination.
But, from Verizon's perspective that would be 21 months of lost revenue or ~$4000.
So if 10 people were to send letters/ 10 signatures, we're are talking about potentially $40,000 or more.
100 people now we are starting to get into serious money.
Any way you look at this, Verizon has only succeeded in hurting their own bottom line:   Potential canceled contracts, customers spending the money elsewhere such as Japan's Softbank or NTT Docomo in my case, potential new customers lost due to publicity of this, etc.
    Any +/- feedback appreciated

  • NFL Mobile Data Plan

I have been unable to run NFL Mobile on my Incredible for the last couple of days.  It was working before (although I no longer have free access to Redzone).  Now when I try to load it, I get the error "Your current data plan is not supported. Nfl Mobile requires a Verizon Wireless data plan of 2GB or more."  Problem is that I have an unlimited data plan (grandfathered).  Even if I wasn't grandfathered, I certainly pay for at least a 2GB plan.  How can I get this app to work again?

    Hi lpgonzales,
It must be frustrating not being able to access the NFL Mobile application (this is one of my favorites). Try clearing the data on the application. Go to Apps > Settings > Applications > Manage Applications > Select All > Scroll down to NFL Mobile and Clear Data > Power off device > Remove the battery for ten seconds > Place back in and power on. If this does not resolve your concerns try removing the application and download/re-install.
    Keep us posted.

  • Competative Data plans

Just letting everyone know that AT&T has great data plans for the customer who only wants to have a minimal data feature.  I can't afford unlimited [plan for $29.99 and $9.99 for 25 MB is rediculous, when AT&T offers a $15 feature for 200MG.  If Verizon doesn't offer competative data plans soon, I think I'll go over to AT&T.

    lambchop4fun wrote:
I understand your concern.  But seriously!  25 MB for 9.99. Okay, let's reada couple e-mails and do a little research on the net....God, forbid I download anything with graphics.  You might not remember, but 486 KB ran an operating system back then in the 90's.  There is 1024 KB in a MB and 1024 MB in a GB.  We are in the age of GB.  For goodness sake, why would you purchase a measly 25 MB feature for $9.99 when you can get almost 100 x/s more data for $5.00 more per month.  I am going to tell you up front that 10 years ago I swore that I would never buy AT&T.   Kinda funny that I actually work for a call center for AT&T.  Verizon has never failed me until my last device, stating it was a Manufacture's issue.  I have been fighting a loosing battle for over a year to get a device that I can depend on.   I have to drive 50 miles each way for work and the battery on my phone dies at random.
FYI..  At AT&T each account has a LTV., which means Life Time Value.  When a customer calls in wanting an adjustment on some overages we have to look at their LTV.  Let me tell you, if you are on a 450 plan with no additional features.... neither AT&T or Verizon give care.  They are only interested in the high end consumer.  However, AT&T does rollover rollover unused minutes.  I have been with Verizon for over 5 year and I don't have a single Rollover minute.  At AT&T I can get a smartphone ....and not have to be obligated to $30 per month for a data plan.
Please tell me what would be the advantage of me staying with Verizon!  They only thing I can see is the coverage....I have 30 days to see if AT&T can live up to it's advertisements. If it would not have been after hours, I would have ported my number over.  Unless Verizon can be more competitive in in their data features....I am outa here!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Your twisting things to support your arguement. The fact that you work for At&t leaves your opinion looking biased. The 9.99 for 25mb is for multimedia phones(aka dumbphones) and not smart phones. We are talking about smartphones, their data usuage and available packages. However i feel that a 25mb limit is a bad deal when At&t offers unlimited for 15 for dumbphones. 25mbs for dumbphones seems to be enough for the average user. My wife uses under 20mb a month with her Samsung Impression and she checks email, facebook, the weather, and other sites on a regular basis. This is due to the fact that dumbphones dont view pages in full HTML greatly reducing data amount to view pages. This however is for the average user and not a more power user. Multimedia phones most-likely place little demand on their network so not offering unlimited data to the probably only 3% of power users is bad business IMO. They should care about meeting the needs of all their customers
Enough about dumbphones. The 200mb is too low for regular data use for a smartphone so its really only geared for those only wising to only check emails. Seeing how At&t states that the average usage is between 600-800mb a month for older model smartphones. This obviously suggests that for the average smartphone buyer this plan was not ment for you. Now your other option is a 2gb limit for 25$. You save 5$ over the Verzions unlimited plan/At&t's old plan but your are very limited. Again this move was justified by At&t using old market figures. The upcoming smartphones will no doubt raise the average data usage and will definitely raise the amount  of people who use over 2gb. The 2gb limit plan is no better than Verizon offering a 25mb limit for dumbphones. Moral of the story. If you want a dumbphone with no limits go with At&t. If you want a smartphone with no limits go with Verizon. As far as rollover minutes is concerned i am current an At&t customer and all my minutes do is expire. I think ive only needed to use them once in my 8 years with At&t when i switched my plan to one with lower minutes and ended up going over.

  • Does 4g phone work with grandfathered in unlimited data plan?

I am out of contract (month-to-month service) with an unlimited data plan that is grandfathered in. I don't want a new contract, because I don't want to loose my unlimited data plan, so I'm going to buy a new smartphone for full price without contract. I've done this before, by simply activating the new phone online for free. My concern is that I am using a 3g phone, and most phones are 4g, so will a 4g phone work with my current data plan?
note: It is a $29.99/month fee for unlimited data (grandfathered in before 7/7/11)

My wife and i just upgraded our phones at a Best Buy and they changed our plan to a 2gig plan telling me that there was no unlimited plan. Do you have any idea why this is? I have had unlimited data plans for years now but it looks like i have been forced or tricked into getting a 2 gig plan. Any advise?
This is because Verizon has discontinued unlimited data plans UNLESS you pay full retail for your phone. If you notice, my last reply was from 1 year ago. Verizon's policy on unlimited data changed in, I believe, June of 2012 at which point unlimited was only kept if you paid full retail for a new phone and did not have to sign a new contract.
Now if you sign a new contract, you lose your unlimited data and have to choose from a tiered data plan starting at $30 for 2GB or switch to the Share Everything plan.

  • Unlimited MiFi Data Plan not "compatible" with 4G MiFi

I currently have a family plan that includes 2 Droid X’s, 2 non data cell phones and a 3g MiFi Card.
I pay $30 for each Droid data plans and $53 for my unlimited data MiFi plan.  I recently decided to try and cut
my Verizon plan payments down to a reasonable amount.  I decided to give up one of the Droid X phones that I was
using and switch back to a non-data cell phone. I can't see why I should pay for a $30 Droid data plan and $50 for MiFi.
I wanted to upgrade to 4G MiFi and use it with my IPod Touch and laptop. To save $30, but when I went to
upgrade the MiFi, I was told my unlimited data plan would not work with the 4G MiFi plan and if I wanted to upgrade,
I would have to change to the 5G or 10G plan.
I have had the unlimited data plan since 2006.  I started out with the V640 Express card then in 2008 upgraded to
the Verizon USB760 EVDO Rev A modem and in 2010 the MiFi 2200. Nothing has ever been said about my unlimited
    plan until this upgrade.
The nice Verizon rep told me that the unlimited data plan is not “compatible” with the 4G data plan.
Is that their way of saying “we are really trying to force you out of your grandfathered unlimited data plan”?
I have been so happy with Verizon all these years. But, if the only way I can have unlimited data with Verizon is
to stay with 3G, should I maybe start looking into the Sprint unlimited data plan?

I'm having the same problems. Sounds like they want more money to me.  I started out with the usb thing several years ago.
Data is data.  They should have to accept our plans.

  • Canadian Using NationWide Canada + 29.99 Unlimited Data Plan

I think this question has been answered before, however I just finished talking to 2 seperate customer service reps online and I get a different story.
I live in Canada but work in the US quite frequently.
I use a Rogers Digital One rate for Canada and the US but am interested in switching to
Verizons NationWide + Canada 900 plan and the 29.99 unlimited data.
I understand that I can use the phone anywhere in canada and the us without roaming charges up to 900 mins.
However can I use the unlimited data package with this plan in CANADA and not get charged any additional fees?
    The $2 per meg...
Both customer service reps told me there we no additional fees for data in canada.. unlimited..
Is there anyone who has experience using these 2 plans, and data in Canada? Do you or do you not get charged extra??
    Thanks!

And this again from another live chat rep, I also asked him to ask a manager.
Next step to see what the 1800 number rep says...
Getting frustrating to find a consistent answer.

Zachery: Hello. Thank you for visiting our chat service.  May I help you with your order today?
Jason: I'm abit confused about a plan.. I'll explain as best as I can
    Zachery: ok
Jason: I want the NationWide Plus 900 Canada plan and The Unlimted Email and Web Browsing on a droid x
Jason: I live in canada, work in the US so I want to use the phone in both countries.
    Jason: my main question is:
Jason: When I am in Canada and use DATA will I be charged anything extra other than the 29.99
Jason: I have had 4 reps here tell me I will not be charged.. however I went to the store and the rep tells me I will be charged $2 meg and suggests I use some Global data plan for 64.99..
Zachery: No there will be no extra and you can add the canada plan through customer service after you order.
Jason: so the rep at the store is wrong?
Zachery: To my knowledge, yes. Calling customer service would be the best way to find out though because it will have to be added through them if the data plan he was talking about does exist.
    Zachery: 1-800-922-0204
Jason: so your telling me I do not need to have this Global Data plan while I am in canada, the 29.99 unlimted data plan will not cost me anything extra while I am in Canada... I will call the number you gave me
Jason: providing I have the Nationwide Plus Canada 900 plan too
Zachery: Yes, that is what our info says but yes that number would bet the final call you will need to make.
Jason: Do you have a manager by any chance you could ask this question 2. I am just getting a little fustrated at the different answers I get
Zachery: I can ask them but the number will still be the best way to find out.
Zachery: It is not handled in our dept so we only have limited info.
Jason: If you could ask I would appreciate. I will also call the number
Zachery: Yes she said there would be no extra charge
Jason: ok thanks I will call.
Zachery: Thank you for visiting Verizon Wireless, I look forward to speaking with you again.  Have a great day!

  • I dont want to lose my Unlimited data plan :(

I been a VZN customer going on five years now, probably nothing compared to some of the other customers on here. I currently own a iPhone 4, my plan that i have is a 900min, unlimited data and text. I know since back in June, Verizon was ending the unlimited data plan and I'm pretty upset with that, which I am sure a lot of you are as well. I been thinking of what i can do besides buying a used 4G phone or paying full retail. I dont have a dummy phone or another line to upgrade, i have called VZN of different matters including my plan, apparently the new plans wouldnt be good fit for me in the sense of the tiered data plans, last month i used 10.5GB, I was like holy hell, i couldn't believe it haha. So I am stuck and i want a new 4G phone but i dont want to give up my unlimited data plan, believe or not i have read some articles online about how customers have been able to keep their unlimited data plan after June and upgrade to a new phone, i mentioned this to the Rep. and they mentioned that YES in some Super RARE occasions they have seen customers keep there old plans with new phones but no clue on how.
So if there are any Reps reading this and can help me, Please respond or anybody have some thoughts.

Some people are adding lines to their account and moving the new phone to the unlimited line, then placing a basic phone on the new line.
To me that's silly. Ok it's $9.99 for the 2nd line. I my area with the taxes and fees, it's just under $14 per month. Basically $165 a year to get a phone at a discount. So if one keeps the phone 20 months did one save anything vs just paying full price upfront? Even if one saved as it worth all that hassle?

  • NFL Mobile Data Plan Problem

I have been unable to run NFL Mobile on my Incredible for the last couple of days.  It was working before (although I no longer have free access to Redzone).  Now when I try to load it, I get the error "Your current data plan is not supported. Nfl Mobile requires a Verizon Wireless data plan of 2GB or more."  Problem is that I have an unlimited data plan (grandfathered).  Even if I wasn't grandfathered, I certainly pay for at least a 2GB plan.  How can I get this app to work again?

Try turning on wifi and see if it works because this may be another issue with the app....  Also remeber that a number of users have had issues bacause of the network issue do to the 4g upgrads that is rumored on Nov 15, 2011.
