Is Webutil still in Forms 11?

Or is there some more "Oracle" solutions? Is there someone who is working with Forms11 and is trying to use some other functions instead of Webutil?
I can't find answer on this question on this site

Jacob up or down, open source or not open source - my last installation of webutil convinced me that webutil is a shame of Oracle! Two documentation is not the same, thanks for guys from service request I made installation otherwise I'd lost a lot, lot more time. I don't know why Oracle doesn't want to write some his own Jcode and give it to us?!? Or why Oracle doesn't want to spend some money to buy some code? The Forms are fact and not by-pass tools! A lot of application is made by forms and all of those applications will have long, long life - they will last! I've read a lot of complains about webutil here in this forum but not only here. So what is the reason not to invest some money and put some code into OUI?
Interesting to hear...

• WebUtil Configuration for Forms Builder10g R2

I have previously successful installed and configured WebUtil to run forms on Forms Builder 10g R2 but not after I installed Eclipse and JDK1.5. I suspect that it is caused by the path, classpath and JAVA_HOME of my PC.
I have seen many members citing their difficulty in configurating WebUtil to run forms that call WebUtil functions. If you have successfully configured and deployed WebUtil forms on Forms Builder 10g, please share your experience.

You will find much information and documentation on WebUtil here:
http://www.oracle.com/technology/products/forms/htdocs/webutil/webutil.htm
You can download Jacob 1.8 from the following URL:
http://prdownloads.sourceforge.net/jacob-project/jacob_18.zip?download
Here is what I have configured WebUtil for both Forms Builder 10g Release 1 and 2.
The steps are:
Webutil Setup
Preparation for Oracle10g Release 1:
If you are using Forms 10g Release 1, WebUtil are not installed and you need to download WebUtil file from Oracle, or unzip the file webutil_106.zip to the following path:
C:\oracle\product\Ora10gDS\forms90
1. Download and unzip webutil_106.zip to C:\oracle\product\Ora10gDS\forms90
Download and Unzip jacob_18.zip to C:\oracle\product\Ora10gDS\forms90\java
2. Add the following in default.env
WEBUTIL_CONFIG= C:\oracle\product\Ora10gDS\forms90\server\webutil.cfg
Append to existing CLASSPATH
CLASSPATH=C:\oracle\product\Ora10gDS\forms90\java\frmwebutil.jar;
3. Append the configuration of C:\oracle\product\Ora10gDS\forms90\server\formsweb.cfg
archive_jini=f90all_jinit.jar,frmwebutil.jar,jacob.jar
WebUtilArchive=frmwebutil.jar,jacob.jar
4. sign_webutil.bat C:\oracle\product\Ora10gDS\forms90\webutil\jacob.jar
sign_webutil.bat C:\oracle\product\Ora10gDS\forms90\java\frmwebutil.jar
5. In MyComputer, double-click on C:\oracle\product\Ora10gDS\forms90\webutil.olb
You will notice that WEBUTIL is added under Object Libraries
Double-click on WEBUTIL in yellow
Click on Minimize icon
Drag WEBUTIL from WebUtil Objects to the Yellow “Object Groups”
Click on [Copy]
6. In Object Navigator, Double-click on Attached Libraries,
Select webutil.pll from C:\oracle\product\Ora10gDS\forms90\Webutil
Run webutil.olg from C:\oracle\product\Ora10gDS\forms90\Webutil
Copy to Object Group
Click on Program, Compile PL/SQL, All
Click on Program, Compile Module
7. Amend the C:\oracle\product\Ora10gDS\forms90\server\default.env
FORMS90_PATH=C:\Webutil_demo;C:\oracle\product\Ora10gDS\forms90
Start OC4J
Run the form, it works!
Preparation for Oracle Forms 10g Release 2:
Assume that the Oracle Home for Oracle Forms 10g R2 is C:\DevSuiteHome_1\
1. Webutil is already installed in Release 2
Just download and Unzip jacob_18.zip to C:\DevSuiteHome_1\forms\java
2. WEBUTIL_CONFIG and CLASSPATH are already set in default.env
3. Append the configuration of C:\DevSuiteHome_1\forms\server\formsweb.cfg
# archive_jini=frmall_jinit.jar
archive_jini=frmall_jinit.jar,frmwebutil.jar,jacob.jar
WebUtilArchive=frmwebutil.jar,jacob.jar
4. sign_webutil.bat C:\DevSuiteHome_1\forms\java\frmwebutil.jar
sign_webutil.bat C:\DevSuiteHome_1\forms\java\jacob.jar
5. Amend the C:\DevSuiteHome_1\forms\server\default.env
FORMS_PATH=C:\Webutil_demo;C:\DevSuiteHome_1\forms;
Start OC4J
Run the form, it works!

• FRM-40039: Cannot attach library webutil while opining form

I have installed webutil in Windows 2000 in order to perform some features.
When I run my forms from Forms Builder this message appear
FRM-40039: Cannot attach library webutil while opining form.
I don't know what is wrong. I have set the virtuals path, like this:
For an Oracle Developer Suite installation, add the following line to the file
j2ee/DevSuite/application-deployments/forms/forms90web/orion-web
.xml under the Oracle Developer Suite Oracle Home:
(The following assumes that you have installed WebUtil into a directory c:\webutil)
<virtual-directory virtual-path="/webutil"
real-path="c:/webutil/lib" />
On a OracleAS install, define the same virtual directory in the forms90/server/forms90.conf file:
AliasMatch ^/forms90/webutil/(..*) "c:/webutil/lib/$1"
I need some help!!

You need to include the location of the pll into the FORMS90_PATH that is defined in your environment file - e.g. default.env

• FRM-40039 Cannot attach library webutil while opening form

FORMS90_PATH=C:\Applications\Webutil\forms;C:\Applications\Wms;
Webutil.Pll is in the first directory.
All other code (PLL and FMX etc ) is the second directory.
I have bounced the formsserver.
The application works fine, until...
I attach the library webutil to the form (without path).
I run the form and receive the error.
I have NOT even started with Webutil.Olb yet !!!
Anyone any thoughts ?

Mark - the builder will look for PLLs onthe Forms90_path in the registry . The runtime looks in the formsweb.cfg and default.env (it will be in the default.env).

• Webutil - Application server form

We have a farm of 6 application servers for production. We are configuring the one application server which is our development environment, for web util.
1.When we go to production do we have to configure each one of the app servers in the farm with webutil configuration?
2.Will it have any impact on the existing forms which do not use webutil. Only 2 of our forms use webutil.
3.What will be the potential impact of webutil on existing forms, which do not use webutil, because we replace the basic html pages with webutil specific html pages for webutil configuration.
Thanks in advance.

• Still on Forms 6i?

What % of Oracle developers are still on Forms 6i?
Have many have made the jump to 9i, which requires us to 1) give-up client/server deployment option, 2) more limited set of features so it can run on the Web, 3) modify existing Forms 6i applications to make them 9i-compatible. I understand that on the positive side, 9i gets your Forms on the Web easily and very fast.
Ali

Amil, Gerd - while I know you can make statistic say anything you want, we get more hits on the Oracle9i Forms OTN pages than all of the previous verion pages added together.

• Create and export a still image form video?

How do I create and then export a still image from my video? Is it the same as freeze frame? It seems like that is different? I looked on youtube and a guy was telling how to do it, but he said to go up to share at the top and it is not there on my version. I think perhaps he was using an older version.. So to cut to the chase.. How do I create a still photo form my vdieo then export it to desktop or iphoto?

You seem to have added to "Save Current Frame" option to the destinations, but you are not using, if what you are outputting is a video file and not a still image file.
Now, click Next..., choose a file name and folder to save it on. That is just that.

• Can we use WebUtil with Oracle Forms 6i

Can any one tell me if we can use WebUtil with Oracle Forms 6i..I have 11.5.9 instance of oracle apps and i want to use some features of WebUtil to customize one of seeded Oracle Form.
Any pointers in this regard are quiet welcome.
Thanks,

Strictly speaking no...however you could "backport" the webutil code and in theory you could get some of the functionality to work - this is not supported in the context of oracleForms although Oracle Applications may have their own specific solution/certification of this.

• Webutil error in forms

Hi,
I am using client_host to navigate to the URL on the browser and freeze the form while working on the url and when we close the browser then we should be able to work on the form, for this I used client_host
client_host('C:\Program Files\Internet Explorer\iexplore.EXE http://www.google.com');
I attached webutil.pll library and even I added webutil object group and subclass it to my form. still getting the following error
oracle.forms.webutil.host.Host bean not found. webutil_host.Execute will not work
Is there anything I need to change in configuration file or any of the functions code in webutil pl/sql library? Please let me know I need it immediately.

First, review this: http://blogs.oracle.com/shay/2007/03/02
Any time you get a bean not found error, it will be caused when one of two things is true:
1. The bean is not in or correctly in the form
2. The necessary jar files are not being downloaded to the client (in this case frmwebutil.jar).
So, do the following in exactly the order shown:
1. Close ALL open browsers
2. Open your form in the Builder
3. With the form (Module) selected in the Object Navigator, press Ctrl+Shift+K (this will execute a compile_all)
4. Save the form (Ctrl+S)
5. Generate a new fmx by pressing Ctrl+T (Be sure that you have also generated a webutil.plx file before running)
6. Run the form manually in a browser. Do not use the Builder's "Run form" button. For example, the url will look something like this (use your machine name and port):
http://mymachine:port/forms/frmservlet?form=myForm&config=webutil
Notice the config=webutil at the end. This will cause the form to run using the default WebUtil configuration we (Oracle) provide in the formsweb.cfg.

• Problem with webutil library in Forms 11g debug (FRM-93652)

Hi.
I have a problem when debug a forms in OFM11g, that used.
the problem is that the forms, in debug mode, raise the error FRM-93652. Only in debug mode.
I add tha jacob.jar and jacob.dll in the folder ORACLE_HOME/forms/java and Oracle_home/forms/webutil.
the classpath variable in default.env, has added the jacob.jar file, and in my FORMS_BUILDER_CLASSSPATH Registry variable.
Can some one help me???.
Thanks and sorry for my english

I have the same issue with debug_messages in Forms 11g -- they will not appear. I can, however, run in debug mode and attach the session to Forms Builder 10.1.2.0.2. Thus, when I run in debug mode and check the the Command Line tab under Global/System Variables, DEBUG_MESSAGES is always set to NO regardless of how I set it on the command line. Still works fine in our 10gR2 instances.
DB 11.1.0.7
Forms 11.1.1.4
WebLogic 10.3.4
AIX 5.3 64-bit
AIX Java 1.6.0 SR9 FP1
Client: WinXP JRE 1.6.0_25
My real issue has to do with a FRM-40734 on EXIT_FORM after ENTER_QUERY or EXECUTE_QUERY have caused the KEY-EXEQRY trigger to erroneously fire -- especially when DO_KEY is involved -- but that's a different and much more problematic story.

• Javabean is not working after adding webutil.olb in form 10g

I have created a form in which I am using javabean for running marquee and is working well. I have also attached webutil library in that form and it's working well also. But when I am adding webutil.olb in that form marquee stops to work. I have given path in Start In and in Preference/Runtime also. I have searched so many forums for that problem but did'nt get solution. That's why I decided to ask here....

Dear Gerd,
"are you sure, that it is the hotkey"
Yes, i am dead sure. Since:
(1) It was working fine in forms 6i
(2) If you run a form and select Help => Keys, you will see Ctrl+B on the top of list
The problem is its not taking into account the keys which i am defining in the file (although i am following the same procedure detailed on metalink.oracle.com).

• Stand still at Forms 6

Dear All,
Hi, I was a d2k person untill 2 yrs ago. I have 4 years of exp right from forms 4.5 to forms 6. I have created thousands of reports some very complecated ones in this tenure. Took a break of 2 yrs. Now i see a lot has changed. Could somebody plz help me how do i go about to learn new versions. are there any institues who give advance training for people like me? Do you think companies will still take people like me and will be willing to train me.
Lakshmi

I think it important to upgrade from your version to the latest version. Many companies are now migrating their applications to the net and to have good knowledge of how the applications work on this architecture is very important. Myself I'm ocp in 6i and I am now doing my upgrade to 9i dev. As for institutions that teach these lessons, I would ask you to contact your area learning institutions for futher details. Good Luck.

• Error while using webutil in 10g forms

Hi All,
I followed all the steps as given in the webutil user guide, in order to use webutil functionality in my forms 10g. Even then, I am getting an error message while trying to open a file from the client machine.
oracle.forms.webutil.file.FileFunctions bean not found WEBUTIL_FILE.FILE_SELECTION_DIALOG_INT will not work.
I need a solution to this problem urgently.
Thanks,
M.Banerjee

Hi,
look at the Jinitiator console if the webutil jar file gets downloaded. If this is downloaded, which indicates that it can be found on the server, check the implementation in Forms. What this says is that the bean cannot be found, which however should be the case if webutil is configured correctly.
