Isight doesn't communicated with I move HD

I have an Imac G5 with a built in Isight. The isight works fine in chat but when I try a record live video in imovieHD it says that there is no camera connected (blue screen). I have brought quicktime pro thinking that this might help but it hasn't. Any ideas?

  • Isight doesn't work with mountain lion

Hi, I recently upgrade my Macbook Pro to mountain lion, but, my Isight camera doesn't work. Neither, Photo booth or face time recognize it.
Did I miss something during installation? Does it have solution?
    thanks for the help.

Hi, I have probably the same or related problem.
After I made the upgrade to 10.8, the camera (integrated iSight) started making problems.
When I log out or restart, everything works (PhotoBooth, Skype), but after a couple of days running
the integrated iSight can not be accessed any more. Skype and PhotoBooth say "no camera".
    About my configuration:
    I have a 15" Macbook Pro Mid 2009, 2.53GHz with Nvidia 9400M 256MB RAM.
I hope the coming update 10.8.2 will fix it.
This is the my first time, where after an upgrade something stops working.
I would almost say, this must related to Sleep/Resume because I never shut down my notebook,
    except for calibrating the battery.

  • Communicating with Flash movie

Hi. I have a question. Is it possible to create a game in flash that will actively communicate with my application. Especially, how to send asynchronically the data to flash movie?
E.g. The game that uses the application for the network communication so it receives the data and sends a data to application.
I am considering using dll for the games in the application but I am also considering flash if the feature is available. It can be also a mixture of both: dll and flash.
    Thanks for answering...

    Lara,
As Sue points out, your best bet is to get iLife '06 so that you can use iMovie HD 6 with your built in iSight.
Here's a thread that talks about some workarounds to get it to work with iMovie HD 5, but I don't think you'll find them satisfactory.

  • Isight doesn't work with one computer

the whole family got isight cameras for christmas. as long as we're all in the house we can see each other on our cameras, but when i take my laptop out of the house to another location, i can see my stepdad's computer, but not my mom's.
i've checked with the cable modem people- no firewalls there. i've called apple- no ideas from them.
firewalls are OFF on all three computers, preferences for ichat AV are all the same on all three computers.
i can see video with pc's and other macs, including the apple test ids (appleu3test01, appleu3test02).
pc's can't see my computer, the only mac that can't see me on my computer is my mom's.
    any ideas?
    my computer: powerbook g4; os10.4.3
    mom's computer: powerbook g4; os 10.4.3
    stepdad's computer: desktop g5; os 10.4.3
thanks for any help you may have to offer...

Hello Anita. You have a good start and are doing the right things.
Here is how I recommend you continue your trouble shooting to find the SOURCE of your problem(s?) so you know what to fix. Otherwise EVERYONE will need to try EVERYTHING.
I suggest that you disconnect everything except one ethernet connected Mac from your home internet connection as suggested in Using iSight with iChat AV. Begin testing with other Mac users (you can use these if you need additional Buddy Names for iChat Test) to find ONE of your available Macs that can connect for reliable video from ONE of your available internet connections. Then, try the next Mac from that known good connection.
If none of your Macs work when connected directly to your Broadband modem via ethernet cable, first Check your Broadband Speed to be certain you have enough bandwidth.
You should also consider Possible hardware or software conflicts.
Then, if bandwidth or conflicts are not your problem, try any applicable suggestions from Help for iChat AV 3 Problems until you get ONE Mac working. This will establish a known good internet connection.
Concentrate on ONE Mac until it is working with other Mac testers. Then fix the next Mac.
Finally, you can begin adding back other items (if any) such as a router, wireless, etc., to your know good modem to find any problems associated with your connection devices.
If you need to post back, let us know whether your successful video connection inside your house was via Bonjour or via the AIM server.

  • Quick develop module doesn't show with cursor movement

Somehow, the little triangle that opens and closes the Quick Develop Module in my Library has become solid, so it no longer pops the menu open when I glide my cursor over to the right side of a full screen image. How do I get the Quick develop module triangle to have that shadow look again so that when I glide the cursor to it the module opens.
I must have changed this with a keystroke or something but for the life of me I cannot get it back and it's driving me crazy. I do not like the module open all the time and it's a pain to use the keystroke or click the triangle each time I need to make a quick adjustment. I hope this is not an upgrade change. I notice it is the same in my develop module.
Please help me get my little shadow back, ha.
    Thanks,
    Dennis

SaWEET! Thank you so much. Back in business!
    Thanks again,

What version of word do you have? The TS3938 sounds like it's a PowerPC app- written for an old architecture that is no longer supported in Lion. If this is the case, your files are fine- you just need a newer version of word that will run in Lion in order to open them. The newest version (2011) should be readily available anywhere, and has worked fine for me ever since I switched to Lion on release day....

  • PC webcam for communicating with Isight user?

My parents and I live on opposite coats.
My folks just got a new, up-to-date Dell laptop equipped with USB ports (no Firewire equivalents from what I could see during a recent visit). I myself have a G4 desktop with an Isight connected via Firewire.
We both have cable internet and live on opposite coasts. I love the picture quality & real-time motion communicating with other Isights users on Ichat.
How can I establish a similar quality communication with the parents back home?
    1) What web camera would be a good fit for their new USB-equipped Dell laptop?
    2) Would using AIM on their end and Ichat on my end allow for a fairly good quality connection, with the same real-time motion?
    Thanks for any thoughts!

    Hello Stephen,
Any PC webcam that is compatible with the software your parents want to use (probably AIM 5.9 for Windows) should work well for them.
Auto focus is nice, as is auto exposure, but they add cost. Some, but not all, have built in microphones. If your folks do not already have a mic, a camera with a built-in mic can save desk clutter if that is an issue that is worth the extra cost. If they have questions, they can judge these things best by an in-person demonstration at a brick and mortar store.
One place they can save money is on the motion-follow feature offered on many of the mid-to-upper priced PC webcams. Motion-follow can cause severe jumps that are distracting for video chat. If they need motion-follow for other uses, like surveillance camera applications, it is OK, but if the sole webcam use is for video chat, they do not need to spend ANY extra money for this feature. You will probably ask them to turn it off anyway. If all the cameras that have the other features they wants also include motion-follow, they can turn it off when they video chats to reduce the distracting "jump".
If they want the best possible video chat quality, there are other possible considerations in the iSight and the PC FAQ.
My best tips for Mac Video Chat with PCs at at this link.

my wireless key board doesn't seem to communication with my computer even though bluetooth shows it is connected.  I have changed the batteries on the keyboard and when turn on the key board the green lights comes on shortly and disappears.  Can any one  help?

    Hey Annar99,
I found a few articles that might help with the issue you're encountering. These first two are if the Bluetooth keyboard you're using is the one that came with your iMac. The first is a general "how to" for setting up your Apple Wireless keyboard, while the second one is for troubleshooting if the advice in the first article isn't working:
Bluetooth: How to set up your Apple Wireless Keyboard
    http://support.apple.com/kb/ht1809
Troubleshooting wireless mouse and keyboard issues
    http://support.apple.com/kb/TS3048
If, on the other hand, you're using a third party keyboard, then I would take a look at the following article's troubleshooting section:
    Bluetooth Quick Assist

    Hope that helps,

  • Error Communicating with Camera- Upload from Panasonic to iMovie

I am trying to upload the footage from my video camera, a Panasonic PV-GS320. I connected the firewire, and I open iMovie, but all that happens is that there is blue screen and in the middle it says "Error Communicating with Camera".
I thought maybe the camera had to be off, so I turned it off and the screen changed to say "Camera disconected or off". When I turned the camera back on, it gave me the "Error Communicating with Camera" message.
My dad was able to upload footage onto his laptop the exact same way I'm uploading into my mac.
Maybe I'm doing something completely wrong. I just want it to upload smoothly. Can someone help?

    Hi
Testing Camera and Cable is important - very common origin to problems.
    Especially the Cable (fortunately)
I had a serious accident some Years ago. FW-connector on the back of that Mac
and I plugging in the FW-connector 180 deg wrong. Shouldn't go but sorry
to say did and without a gigant of effort.
Result: Killing two miniDV Cameras, one video bridge and one hard disk.
    Tricky:
    • Cameras behaved normally in all aspects except import/export to iMovie
    - blue screen reading Camera connected
That's why it is essential to know that it works OK on another Mac.
Here comes my list: Use it with care. No guarantie from my part - just sharing
    my thoughts.
    Capture/Import problems:
    a) File-Vault is on - turn it off
    b) don’t Daisy chain camcorder - external hard disk - Mac
    (except for some Canon-Cameras)
    c) Slow hard disk (fragmented: repair permissions, repair hard disk, use a faster hard disk)
    d) Something is occupying the CPU/System, like other programs, Internet etc.
    e) Bad RAM-chips
    f) drop outs on the miniDV-tape - make a camera to camera copy on a tape which You have previous recorded with a time code (dummy recording).
    g) FW-wire cable OK?
    h) Break in the time-code on the miniDV tape (make a camera to camera copy on a tape which is prerecorded with nothing/anything so that the tape has a time-code from beginning to the end)
    i) defective camera TRY IT ON ANOTHER MAC !
    j) remove bookmarks in iMovie project
    k) Do You have desktop pictures or screen-savers active? Try turning them off.
    l) Updating - OS has to be a clean install - not an update eg from X.3.x to X.4.x (no good)
OS X.4.0-2 needs a clean install to work (I use X.3.9)
    m) Updating QT and/or other updates (to 7 needs v6 to be cleaned out first)
QT v.7 needs a clean install to work (I use 6.5.2)
    n) Have you tried the crazy fix:
Open GarageBand, play a few notes, close it and reopen iMovie. The camera should import fine now. (Sue/SDillini)
    o) NEW (from Sue/SDillini):
    Trash the Font Collections Folder.
    These files are found:
    /YourUserName/Library/FontCollections folder.
Drag the folder to the trash and launch iMovie. iMovie will create a new FontCollections folder containing the files it needs when it next opens.
    p) or thrashing the com.apple.imovie.plist file (Rodney Brown2)
    q) - Other programs interfering like Flip4Mac
    r) - Third party or old plug-ins
May be You find some help in my list:
    Mac:
    • hardware
◊ Slow hard disk (fragmented: repair permissions, repair hard disk, use a faster hard disk)
◊ I wonder how full your Mac's hard disc is. (David Babsky) A near full hard disk prevents Import/Capture.
10% free is recommended + space for Import/Capture + work space (about 4 to
5 times the amount needed for Capture) eg on a 200Gb hard disk You need 20Gb + (one hour tape)
    13Gb + 50Gb = about 80 to 90Gb free space.
◊ Disconnect all other ext devices (FW and USB) exept Camera (and keyboard + mouse) and try again
◊ Rebuild Desktop (Tech-tool or fingersetting during start-up) (System up to 9)
◊ Reset PRAM (Tech-tool or keyboard finger settings alt-cmd-P-R ??)
◊ Reset PMU ( Restting the PMU...is the the alt-ctrl-shift and powerbutton shortcut? ) (Sue)
    PMU: http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=86760
PMU/SMU are essentially the same in the PM G5.
    ◊ Reset SMU
    SMU: http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=300341
    ◊ Bad RAM-chips
◊ disconnect Mac from powerline (not just switch off, really plug out) for a few minutes to reset FW ports
    • software
◊ File-Vault is on - turn it off
◊ Something is occupying the CPU/System, like other programs, Internet etc.
◊ Do You have desktop pictures or screen or energy-savers active? Try turning them off.
◊ Updating - OS has to be a clean install - not an update eg from X.3.x to X.4.x (no good) OS X.4.0-5 needs a clean install to work (I use X.3.9)
◊ Updating QT and/or other updates (to 7 needs v6 to be cleaned out first) QT v.7.0.0-4 needs a clean install to work (I use 6.5.2)
◊ Have you tried the crazy fix: Open GarageBand, play a few notes, close it and reopen iMovie. The camera should import fine now. Sue/SDillini
◊ Running iDVD at the same time as iMovie can cause problems: (Lennart Thelander)
◊ If You also have installed FinalCut Express/pro there are possibly problems with this
◊ Other programs that interferes like Flip4Mac
    ◊ Codecs added to QuickTime
◊ Old plug-ins to iMovie or third party alike
    iMovie:
◊ remove bookmarks in iMovie project
    ◊ Trash: com.apple.iMovie.plist and com.apple.iMovie3.plist : files (Xinram)
    Connection:
◊ don’t Daisy chain Camcorder <--> external hard disk <--> Mac
◊ FW-wire cable, is it OK?
    ◊ USB/USB2 is NO GO !
◊ Cheque FW connection at Camera end. OK? (Adam Smith1)
◊ Cheque FW connection at Mac end. OK?
    Camera:
◊ The Camera is set to VTR ? (not as when You ”film” record with it)
◊ You may be need to go to the Camera menu and select digital out.
◊ defective camera TRY IT ON ANOTHER MAC ! (if the A/D chip in the camera is harmed then it will say in iMovie that the camera is connected and You can forward resp. backward the tape but there will be no picture or sound just the blue screen).
◊ connect camera to power-line, not battery-only....(Karsten Schlüter)
◊ Canons don't allow daisychaining on firewire, make it "only device" on port (Karsten Schlüter)
◊ Cheque the menu on Your Camera so that it communicates with the FW digitally to Your Mac
◊ Date and Time is correct on Your Camera ?
    Tape:
◊ Drop outs on the miniDV-tape - make a camera to camera copy on a tape which You have previous recorded with a time code (dummy recording).
◊ Break in the time-code on the miniDV tape (make a camera to camera copy on a tape which is pre-recorded with nothing/anything so that the tape has a time-code from beginning to the end)
◊ If You recorded in LP-mode (90 min on a standard 60 min tape with 12-bit sound). Try to change in iMovie pref. to import but not as individual clips. If this doesn’t work You have to make a Camera to Camera copy with the receiving Camera set to SP-mode and 16-bit sound.

    NEWS: Jerry Harris writes:
I know that in a lot of the new Sony HD cameras, iMovie requires that you turn i.Link Conv off. I would look for a similar setting for your camera. This setting has to do with shooting a movie in one format, and using the camera to import as a different format. For instance, if you shoot HD footage and have i.Link conv on - the camera will send DV to the computer etc...
So, case in point: look for a setting on your camera that has to do with the video format and see if that helps.

  • "The software required for communicating with the iPod is not installed..."

I realize my explanation of my problem is long-winded, so if you want a shortened version, here it is:
I've followed all the instructions trying nearly everything, and no matter what I do, iTunes gives me the error saying: "The software required for communicating with the iPod is not installed correctly. Please reinstall iTunes to install the iPod's software." My G5 iPod (60GB) works on two other computers (both without any music on them), so I assume there something wrong with my computer and not the iPod itself.
Now for the long-winded story of the last eight hours of my life...
I just got the Generation-5 iPod Video (60GB) a today and I'm having problems already. I followed the instructions and installed the iPod software and then plugged in my iPod (iTunes has been on my computer for a while now). I was expecting iTunes to open after plugging in the iPod, but my device manager only detected and installed "a new device". I manually opened iTunes and got an error saying: "The software required for communicating with the iPod is not installed correctly. Please reinstall iTunes to install the iPod's software."
After re-installing the iPod software and iTunes, and restarting my computer countless times, I came looking for help here. I found this page, which seemed to outline my problem exactly. My computer recognizes the iPod as a drive, but iTunes won't have anything to do with it. I have all the symptoms outlined in the heading, so I hoped to solve my problem there. I followed the instructions step-by-step, and after the final restart, I open iTunes to get the same exact error message.
I decided to determine whether there was a problem with my iPod or if it was my computer. I plugged my iPod into my uncles's powerbook, and got to the point where I can name and configure my iPod. I expected it to work flawlessly on a Mac (which it did) but there is no way for me to continue using a Mac (after tomorrow) for my iPod. This formatted the iPod for a Mac, so I went to another (different from the original) Windows computer, clean of any iTunes and iPod software, and followed the instructions exactly as they're supposed to be followed. After the installations, I plugged in my iPod, and although iTunes didn't open, I was able to format back to Windows and name my iPod (a step in the right direction). I should note that my (anti-iPod) computer is a Windows XP Pro, and the working one is Windows XP Home Edition. This was all well and good, until I remembered there was no music on this computer. So my iPod is completely working there, but there isn't anything I can do with it.
Next, I came back here and browsed around the discussion boards, hoping to find somebody with a similar problem to mine. There seems to be alot of errors concerning iTunes not recognizing the iPod, but none of the solutions I tried worked for me, including changing the drive letter. I get the "iPod Service Error" while trying to restore to factory settings through iPod updater.
Of course, I could transfer all 32GB of music from one computer to another, but the second (working) computer isn't mine and I won't have access to it in a couple months. It would be most convenient if I could get my iPod working on my own computer. Any help would be appreciated, especially from somebody who has solved this problem or know how to solve this problem.
    P.S.
Here are some other minor details that my be important, but I didn't feel they were worth including.
    - My brother has his iPod mini set up on my computer, under a different user login. He gets the same error once in a while, but re-installing iTunes always solves the problem for him. I had him try solving my problem his way, but nothing worked for him either.
    - My computer is an AMD Athlon 64 Processor 3200+, 512MB RAM with Windows XP Pro SP2 installed. My internal hard drive is partitioned, using the letters C, D and H (C being my system files, D used for recovery files and H for my applications and games). My E drive is used as a DVD/CD-ROM Drive, and drives F and G are reserved for virtual drives (none have been running during this entire ordeal). My external hard drive uses the letter I, and I manually set my iPod to use the letter J (I've never used 'J' for anything else before).
    - Yes, I have downloaded and installed the latest versions of iTunes and the iPod software.
    - I'm assuming there is a problem with my computer and not my iPod, since it worked on both other computers I tried. I'm hoping it's as simple as changing a registry file or cleaning out (yet another) temp directory.

Solution to "Software required for communicating with the iPod is not installed"!
I battled this same problem for about 5 hours. Going through re-installations, the "5 R's", all these discussion boards. Nothing worked.
The problem is that iPodService was repeatedly crashing after minute or so. You can verify this by hitting Ctrl-Alt-Delete and noting that iPodService is missing from the process list (sort by image name), or by right-clicking on My Computer and selecting "Manage", then going to Services and checking out the IPodService service - if it gives you the option to "Start", then it's not running.
    Here is what worked.
    1. De-install iTunes and iPod (if you have the updater installed) completely by going to Start --> Control Panel --> Add/Remove Programs. Also delete the C:\Program Files\iTunes and c:\Progam Files\iPod\bin directories. (Don't worry, this doesn't affect your saved music files.)
    2. Log in as an Administrator
    3. Go into the registry (note this is dangerous - you should be careful) and remove the iPod entries that the uninstaller misses.
3.1 Go to Start menu --> Run.
    3.2 Type in "regedit".
    3.3 Go to HKEYCLASSESROOT --> IPodService.iPodManager.
There are two keys here, iPodManager and iPodManager.1. In my case, I did not have permission to view either of these. I think this is the root cause of the problem. I think the installer can't properly update these because it doesn't have permission. So you need to change the permissions:
    3.4 Right-click on IPodService.IPodManager
3.4.1 Select "Permissions..." A warning will appear saying you don't have permission, but that you can change permissions.
3.4.2 On the window that launches, click on "Advanced..."
3.4.3 Click on the "Owner" tab.
3.4.4 Select a valid account (the one you're logged in under) under "Change Owner To".
    3.4.5 Hit "OK".
3.4.6 Back on the main Permissions window, hit Add and add the same account as a valid user.
3.4.6.1 Where it says "Enter the object names to select", type in the account name, e.g. "Smith".
3.4.7 Click on the "Allow" checkboxes for "Full Control" and "Read".
    3.4.8 Hit "OK".
3.5 Repeat procedure for the "iPodManager.1" key.
3.6 Now right-click and delete both of these keys.
I think that's all that's required, but I also searched through the registry and deleted the following keys.
    4. Other keys I deleted:
    4.1 HKEYCLASSESROOT --> IPodManager.IPodManagerUI.1
4.2 HKEYLOCALMACHINE --> SOFTWARE --> Apple Computer Inc. --> iPod
I think that's all I deleted, but I'm not positive. I seached for instances of "ipod" using the Find... and Find Next functions under the Edit menu.
    5. Exit out of the registry editor.
    6. Re-install iTunes. I re-installed iTunes and reconnected the iPod, and everything worked.
I want to repeat that editing the registry can completely mess up your computer if you modify the wrong things, so only do this if you're comfortable, and be extremely careful.
    Hopefully this helps!
Apple support people: assuming this works, please add it to your solutions page, and feel free to reimburse me for spending half of Christmas figuring this out.

  • SOLUTION to "Software required for communicating with the iPod is not insta

Folks, I can not take credit for this.....you should send your checks to MarkinMadison. I've included his post in it's entirety. For me, this was the Holy Grail !!
My only comment is make sure when you are in the registry that you hit the "apply" button to change and add things.
This probably won't solve everyone's problem but it clearly solved mine (and I tried all other "solutions"), as well as Mark's.
Apple: please find out who MarkinMadison is and either cut him a big check or offer him free Ipods for life.

    3.3 Go to HKEYCLASSESROOT --> IPodService.iPodManager.
3.4.5 Click the checkbox that says: "Replace owner on subcontainers and objects."
3.7 If you can't delete, you might need to open up the keys and repeat the procedure on the sub-keys.
    4. Exit out of the registry editor.
    5. Re-install iTunes. I re-installed iTunes and reconnected the iPod, and everything worked.
I want to repeat that editing the registry can completely mess up your computer if you modify the wrong things, so only do this if you're comfortable, and be extremely careful.
    Hopefully this helps!

I have also posted the same question, earlier today. I purchased two for my children and cannot get the iPod to communicate with the computer. I have the iTunes software on my system, but during the installation process I cannot click the NEXT button, once I plug the iPod cable in. The computer does not detect it. I have tried all 6 USB 2.0 ports. I even removed the Dell Jukebox and MusicMatch programs. I am not a computer savvy person - just a mom who wants to give these to my children for Christmas. This is the first "chat" site I have even registered on. I am so very frustrated. Hopefully, this can be resolved.

  • Error in communicating with DCR

    Preliminary question:
For LMS 3.2 on Windows, which is better 2003 or 2008?
    Primary issue:
Background:  new install of LMS 3.2 on Windows 2008 sp2 Virtual Machine.
              Upgraded Campus to 5.2.1
              Upgraded RME to 4.3.1
when updating device packages, services started extremely slow with anidbeng taking 2hrs. portal showed service unavailable.
had to restart crmdmgtd to be able to login.
most links in CS return the following:   Error in communicating with DCR server.  DCR server may be down.  Please start the DCR server           and then refresh the page.   The DCR server shows running normal.
              tried restarting crmdmgtd
              attached DCR.log
             tried  CSCtd07131 .. no success

Windows 2008 offers more scalability so I would go with that although LMS has been tested on both (you will have a longer life of support as well).
When applying the CSCtd07131 patch, you need to be sure it is the right patch for the right CS version as there are multiple versions out there.  However, this is fixed in LMS 3.2.1 so you should just upgrade there.
An often overlooked matter when installing LMS are the steps mentioned here:
    https://supportforums.cisco.com/docs/DOC-9132
I see constant TAC cases due to installation problems because the above steps are not met or are half-met.  Services starting slowly are usually an after-effect of something blocking ports (anti-virus or such) or possible database corruption.  Setting DEP and anti-virus as specified above might help here, but if you did not follow these steps to the letter during this new install, I would suggest to cleanup this server and re-install properly; then move all the way to LMS 3.2.1.
