ISRC codes on a video dvd!

hello there!!!
I have a rather urgent question.
is there a way to put isrc codes on a video dvd?
with dvdsp?
if it can be done...
HOW?
hehe
thank you very much
vince

To be honest, I've never tried or tested it. You could use another Mastering app if you dont need CSS etc but IMHO ME could be the best option for speed and ease. There are other expensive options (or option!) on Windows or you could just say I dont offer that service...
Getting DVDAfterEdit isn't just a software purchase so read all the info before you join. Its probably your only option if you want to add the codes though,

  • Adding ISRC codes to music video in Premiere Pro?

    Hi there,
I work for a small independent record label and we're currently working on our first music video for one of our artists. We have spoken to PPL (UK music licensing organisation), and they say we need to embed an ISRC code into the video/audio for the video. ISRC codes identify music so it is easy to distribute royalties to the correct people. They say we can do this in all major video editing software.
Does anyone here know how you can do this? Our editor is working with Premiere Pro CS4 and After Effects.
    Many thanks,
    Chris

    Hi,
I use soundforge for my sound files...and this screenshot shows metadata for the wav file, which has info about artist, album, etc you can put into file...
The next image of of adobe bridge which also has a metadata panel for adding / changing info of the file you select..
However....check out the next screenshot of the video on youtube....notice the info about (metadata) where to download the music etc.....and this is where you should do some more research for a copyright program for metadata...where you LOCK the info into the file...as this is info that cannot be changed by an editor in the usual way....otherwise anyone with an editor could just change the metadata and make the copyright useless in terms of identity....  I don't have access to the metadata you see on the next screenshot...  it must be a copyright program that locks the info once input...and I imagine you can google for that sort of product...

  • ISRC Code number

    Hi,
I'm editing a videoclip that is going to MTV Europe.
I'm in Latin America and of course I need to transfert it to Pal system. They send me an MTV application form.
It says this: "ISRC NUMBER *PLEASE ENSURE THIS IS THE ISRC FOR THE VIDEO, NOT THE SOUND
RECORDING. PLS ALSO ENSURE THAT THIS HAS NO MORE OR LESS THAN 12 DIGITS (NOT
    COUNTING HYPHENS)"
I need some help on how can I put that code to the video? I've read somewhere about metadata but I'm not sure if that's the way.
And about the 12 digits. What's the procedure to put them on it? Do I choose which numbers I put on? Or how do I get them?
    Thanks.

There's no "official" way to add an ISRC to an electronically-distributed file. The Handbook defines how to add it to the header data in mechanicals (CDs, DVDs, DAT, etc.) but if we're sending someone an audio or video file, we put it in the XMP metadata "description" tag, in the form "ISRC: cc-xxx-yy-nnnnn". If for some obscure reason we have to send a WAV file, we use BWF headers and shove it in there instead.
The problem is not with where it could be put (adding a custom "ISRC" tag to the XMP tree is the logical way to do it), but that pretty much nothing will read and display that custom tag. IFPI are supposedly consulting on where to put it, but right now as we know almost any software can see "description", and it's not essential for any other purpose given we have tags for title, author, etc., "description" seems the best place to put it so a remote engineer with XYZ Software can find it again without jumping through hoops.
The ISRC code is not an end-user thing, it's an industry thing - so b/c or labels can positively identify where some random recording came from, and make sure they're paying the right person. While it's usually burned into audio CD headers, it's rare on DVDs and isn't broadcast - in fact even if a CD has ISRCs in the table of contents block, almost no playback software will display the codes or transfer them into ripped files, so an end user has no idea they're there.
iTunes insists on every track having an ISRC, purely for correlation against CDDB. If you're sending stuff to a pressing plant, some people want it embedded, some want an Excel sheet listing the tracks and ISRCs, and some just want a label on the CD. In terms of digital video, ask three broadcasters where to put it and you'll get three answers, and three impolite suggestions. In the days of videos biked to a studio on tape, many people put it on the leader.

  • [SOLVED] Rip or play back audio/video DVD

Recently I bought a DVD that contains audio content as well as video content. On the packaging it says that it is in the "DVD Audio/Video" format.
Today I wanted to rip or at least play back this DVD on my computer. When inserting a "normal" video DVD into the disk drive, the DE which I am using (Gnome 3.12) displays a notification that offers the possibility to start playback of the inserted DVD. No such notification was displayed for the DVD in question.
Since anyway my original intention was to rip the DVD to my hard drive, this didn't bother me much and I started looking for a program for ripping DVDs. This research resulted in me installing dvd::rip.
Unfortunately, upon trying to the read the table of contents of the DVD, dvd::rip displays the below error message:
Job 'Determine number of titles' failed with error message:
    Command exits with failure code:
    Command: execflow tcprobe -H 10 -i \/dev\/sr0 && echo EXECFLOW_OK
Output: libdvdread: Could not open /dev/sr0 with libdvdcss.
libdvdread: Can't open /dev/sr0 for reading
    [[31;1mtcprobe[0m][31;1m critical[0m: unrecognized filetype for '/dev/sr0'
While googling for problems with DVD playback in Arch, I came across some generic solutions that didn't solve the problem, namely adding my user to the audio, video, and optical groups as well as installing packages for handling DVDs (libdvdread, libdvdcss, libdvdnav).
Is there someone who has managed to rip or play back DVDs in the "DVD Audio/Video" format?

Can you mount the disk and see its file system?  If it is a DVD, you should be able to do this, regardless of and CSS.
Is there any chance this a VCD (Video CD)?

  • How can I switch the region code on MBP w/ DVD drive for the 5th and final time?

How can I switch the region code on MBP w/ DVD drive for the 5th and final time? It brings up the window with that world map to do it, including the warning that "this is the 5th and final time I can do this", when inserting a DVD and opening "DVD Player", but it never executes my click on the "Change Drive Region" button prompt.
VLC or Quicktime Player won't play it either, but won't bring up that window to change Region Code anyway....
Otherwise, I'm not having any other issues with this MBP at all. Peak performance on all counts :-)
I tried resetting SMC after chatting w/ Apple Support, but it didn't help.
That was the link they provided. Resetting the System Management Controller (SMC) on your Mac
    Tried zapping PRAM as well.
    Thanks for any clues, Rene

Region encoding is the mechanism that enables motion picture studios to control the worldwide release of their movies. It is required by the DVD Forum (http://www.dvdforum.org/forum.shtml) in all commercial hardware DVD players. Every DVD-Video disc contains one byte of data representing a region code, which limits where the disc can be played.
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT2397
Once you have set the region in DVD Player five times it cannot be changed. However see this also:
    http://support.apple.com/kb/TA25416?viewlocale=en_US&locale=en_US
Instead, use VLC to view videos from different regions:

  • WB error ISRC code burning

WB 1.6 or 1.5 won't burn CD if ISRC code is written for Track 1. After burning a CD it gets to:
"The device failed to respond properly, unable to recovery or retry. Invalid address for write."
...and CD is empty. All gets just fine If I erase only Track 1 ISRC code and leave all the others. I have tried with different ISRC codes aswell, and many many other tricks but it simply doesn't work. Any ideas?

Is there a way of burning a DVD iso file using Disc Utility that will play in a stand alone DVD player, so that I can see if it's the drive or the DVDs or Toast?
I use this Terminal command line
hdiutil burn ~/Desktop/MediaISO.iso -noeject -speed max -forceclose
Change the text in red with the ISO filename you want to burn. Switches are self-explanatory.

  • GX660 DVD drive will not play video DVDs

For some reason the DVD drive in my GX660 refuses to recognise video DVD discs.
DVDs with binary data and audio CDs will be read fine, but inserting a video DVD --any video DVD-- just results in an enormous amount of seeking sounds from the drive before Windows 7 finally gives up on it a reports the drive as empty.
I've had the GX660 for just under a year, during which time the DVD drive has been used very sparingly -- maybe for the installation of no more than a dozen programs.  Never been used for burning DVDs or CDs. Never been used for reading video DVDs which is why I discover it at this late date.
Any ideas concerning this issue, before I turn in the laptop for service?  I'd rather not have to.

In your shoes I'd contact MSI and see if there's a firmware update for the drive to correct the issue. >>How to contact MSI.<<

  • Import home video DVD's into iMovie

I want to import my home video DVD's into iMovie for editing and backup. What is the best way to do this? I have already tried creating a disk image, but somehow when I open these images with iMovie, some parts of the original video are missing. (for example the video on DVD is 60 minutes, but the video opened on iMovie is 50 minutes). I also tried to convert to MPEG 2 using MPEG Streamclip, and purchased the MPEG2 Playback component from Apple Store, but it turns out that this component was intended for earlier versions of OS X, so I could not even install it. I am currently at a lockdown, please help me out!!!

There are directions on the MPEG Streamclip website on how to get the MPEG2 Playback component installed on your computer (I'm assuming your running Mac OS X 10.7). I'm cutting and pasting them here in case someone else runs into the same problems.
    From the MPEG Streamclip homepage
The installer of the MPEG-2 Playback Component may refuse to install the component in Lion. Apple states the component is unnecessary in Lion, however MPEG Streamclip still needs it.
To install the component in Lion, please download MPEG Streamclip 1.9.3b7 beta above; inside the disk image you will find the Utility MPEG2 Component Lion: use it to install the MPEG-2 Playback Component in Lion. The original installer's disk image (QuickTimeMPEG2.dmg) is required.
The current versions of MPEG Streamclip cannot take advantage of the built-in MPEG-2 functionality of Lion. For MPEG-2 files you still need to install the QuickTime MPEG-2 Playback Component, which is not preinstalled in Lion. You don't have to install QuickTime 7.
Also read the information for Snow Leopard below.
Snow Leopard and MPEG-2 Playback Component
The Snow Leopard upgrade DVD released on August 28, 2009 may wipe the content of the /System/Library/QuickTime folder during the upgrade process, and delete your MPEG-2 Playback Component installed in that folder. To use MPEG-2 files with MPEG Streamclip you have to reinstall the MPEG-2 component or restore it from a backup copy.
If you are going to upgrade to Snow Leopard
Open the /System/Library/QuickTime folder and drag the QuickTimeMPEG2.component file to your desktop to make a copy of it. Then upgrade to Snow Leopard. When the upgrade is complete, open the /System/Library/QuickTime folder again and move the QuickTimeMPEG2.component file from the desktop to the /System/Library/QuickTime folder (enter your administrator password if necessary).
If you already upgraded to Snow Leopard
You have to reinstall or restore your MPEG-2 Playback Component.
If you have a Time Machine backup of your System folder, then open the /System/Library/QuickTime folder, enter Time Machine and go back in time until you see the QuickTimeMPEG2.component file; select that file and then click Restore.
If you purchased the MPEG-2 Playback Component from the Apple Online Store, then you probably still have the DMG file that contains the installer. Use Spotlight to search for "QuickTimeMPEG2.dmg": if you find a file with that name, double-click it and then in the disk image, double-click the installer package for Intel Macs.
If you purchased the MPEG-2 Playback Component from the Apple Online Store but you can't find the QuickTimeMPEG2.dmg file, you can download the file again from the Apple Online Store if you remember the Apple ID used when you originally purchased it (if you forgot your Apple ID then go to Apple iforgot). Visit the Apple Online Store, click on "Account" in the store menu, then click "Downloadable Software Purchases," enter your Apple ID and password, and click the link to the QuickTime MPEG-2 Playback Component to download it again.
If you obtained the MPEG-2 Playback Component from the installation of Final Cut Studio, then you can reinstall it again from the Final Cut Studio DVD. Insert the DVD and use the Finder's Go menu > Go To Folder... command to get to the /Volumes/Final Cut Studio/Installer/Packages/ folder inside the DVD. Locate the QuickTimeMPEG2.pkg or the QuickTimeMPEG2Pro.pkg installer: double-click it to reinstall the MPEG-2 component.

  • The disk you inserted was not readable by this computer - Finalized video DVD

Suddenly I have not been able to watch video DVD’s on my MacPro OS x 10.5.8 that I have recorded with my Panasonic DVR.  I am also not able to read some data DVDs.  I am able to read other data DVD’s and all the data CD’s I’ve tried.  My PowerBook G4 is able read and play all these disks including the video DVD’s recorded on my DVR.
I use my DVR to record TV programs off the air and to transfer home movies from my camcorder to DVD.  I finalize the disk and then watch it later on my MacPro.  I also use the DVD as a way to get home movies into iMovie for editing.
I’ve had no problems in the 3 years I’ve been doing this.  Now when I insert a video DVD recorded with my DVR I get the following message:
“The disk you inserted was not readable by this computer”
Before this happened I watched a commercially produced DVD movie on my MacPro for the first time.  I suspect this DVD changed something in my MacPro’s DVD player.
Is there a way to get my MacPro back to the state where it will read a DVD video I have recorded on my DVR?  Is there a way to use Time Machine to revert back in time before the problem started?  I am using an external drive with Time Machine for backup.
    Thanks.  Bob

I have a panasonic dvr pretty similar to yours, I hope (DMR EH55) and to transfer stuff to dvd, you have to change the drive over to dvd, put in the blank dvd, format it, then tick off the stuff you want copied, then choose high speed copy, then you have to wait, until the stuff gets copied, and the whole process finishes- dvd in the drive says formalized, this thing is necessary so that this dvd will play in dvd players, then you have to wait until it says it's done. if the dvd is not formalized, just copied and removed , then it will probably not play in dvd players. I've done what was mentioned before, and no problems, also check the brand of media you are using, and use a brush type dvd drive cleaner on your MacPro's DVD drive
    hopefully that helps

  • How to burn valid video DVDs from VIDEO_TS folder

    Hello,
Sorry if this topic is not in the proper location, but as the question is broad, I thought this was the best place to ask.
I just want to burn files located in a VIDEO_TS folder, properly ripped on the hard drive, so as to make a valide Video DVD.
I already attempted to use Burn, to no avail; it fails withing the first seconds, and outputs this line in the Console:

I don't want to use Toast since it's not a freeware, and using Nero on Ubuntu does provide a valid DVD.
    Thx for help

I don't want to use Toast since it's not a freeware
But it's worth every cent of it! I have been using it for a long time and can't even remember the last time I stuffed up a disk, burning DVDs Music & MP3 CDS, photo cd's data etc.
I have tried a couple of freeware and shareware programs that are supposed to be ok, but spent most of the time producing drink coasters. if there is one program I think everyone should fork out for it would be Roxio Toast.
maybe someone can recommend a freebie, but I will always swear by Toast and think it has easily paid for itself already.

how can i request the actual time code of digital video recorder, i am using RS232 interface for asking actual time code of digital video recording

If you have an RS-232 interface to the digital video recorder, it may be that you can send a command to the video recorder in order to get the time code sent back to your application - you would then read this as a string and then incorporate this data into your program.
The best source of help will be any documentation you have relating to the serial (RS-232) interface with the digital video recorder. This documentation should have commands that you can send to the recorder and expected response strings that you should get back from the device. This task should be straightforward but can often be frustrating without documentation about the video recorder. This will not be something that you can "guess" - past experience in writing serial communication ap
plications has shown that a good manual is your best friend.
Failing this if you have any source code for example programs that have already been written to communicate with the recorder, you might be able to extract the relevant ASCII strings and use them within your application. This is true whether you are using LabVIEW or a text-based language.

    It can be, yes.
Use a third party app. If you are redoing your entire libary, I would suggest Muvundercover.
Good to have a recommendation, but unfortunately i'm not currently running Windows.
One issue I have with simply using search engines is that while you can often find decent cover art manually, the links seem to increasingly point to dodgy sites talking about file-sharing etc, and I am very wary of even clicking on the links.
One advantage of music downloads is that you do tend to get decent artwork even if it's not embedded, but until I can get lossless audio I see little point for most stuff when the CD is just as cheap - convenience factor and impulse buys after a few beers tend to scupper this plan though!
If itunes can rip CDs losslessly then I see little reason why the content vendors are so obstinate about allowing CD (or better) quality uncompressed legitimately purchased downloads.

  • G5 not reading Video DVDs

I'm a student filmmaker and I burn Video DVD's all the time. I'll burn a dvd successfully, eject the disc, put it back in the computer and it wont read it. It says "Disk Insertion: This disk is not readable by this computer". What is weird is that it will read DVD's formatted for Data, but not Video DVD's.
My friend told me to reset something by holding apple + alt + p + r, still not working.
Anyhelp would be greatly appreciated! Thanks in Advance!

I don't want to sound pessimistic - but I don't think there is anything you can do. If you read through all the threads in this area - you will see this has happened to many of us.
First you lose your ability to read DVDs. Next you will lose your ability to record DVDs.
Mine is at the point where I can't get more than 50mb on a CD.
And guess what - Apple doesn't seem to want to acknowledge those of us with G5s -- not that this will make you feel better - but you are not alone. It has happened to too many of us.
Eliminating the dust in your G5 - reconfiguring your desktop nonsense, rewriting permissions - tapping on your processor -- and all the other supposedly "helpful" answers - don't do diddly-squat.
    Been there - done that...
Get yourself a new DVD -- and become bitter - or smile...
Because there doesn't seem to be anyone here who can help you -- and no one from Apple is willing to tell the truth about this -- and life must go on.
