Issue in SMTP server-urgent

Hi,
Created an proxy service to call an business service which is using email transport .Have to call an business service when mail delivery fails.But email business service is not throwing any error when there is problem in mail delivery.How to throw/catch the exception when there is problem in delivering the mail?.

Hi,
Ok, but you must know that when you send an email it's an asynchronous process. When you send the email, it's not point to point. OSB will deliver the message to the SMTP server and the SMTP server might apply basic validation. If these validation passes, it will return a successful response code to OSB and it will try to deliver the message asynchronously.
The message might not be delivered for different reasons. e.g: Email address not found, domain not found, Mailbox full, etc.
Whenever the email cannot be delivered, an email will be returned to the recipient. If you really want to handle this scenario, you could create a proxy service getting the messages from the recipient email address, and reconcile with the emails sent.

  • Rochester/Roadrunner Issues with SMTP Server

    Hello. New to Rochester and Roadrunner. I let Mac Mail setup the account but it couldn't resolve the SMTP server on Roadrunner. I can receive but not send. I've played with all of the port and SSL settings and still nothing. It shows my account as "offline". My Comcast account is still on there and a few emails went through, but using the Comcast server for some reason.
    I know my password is correct as I've double checked it. I've also pinged the smtp-server.rochester.rr.com. Still won't go.
    Any thoughts?

    I'm having the same issue with the outgoing mailserver in Rochester. I didn't understand your resolution. Would you please explain further?

  • Any known issues with SMTP server regardless of mail host?

    I do tech support for a FiOS company and have had Mac users(new and old OS) calling in saying that they having problems getting the SMTP server online when using Mac Mail. Not many Mac users on the floor and I'm a fairly new Mac user, but not new to email protocols and implementation. We are advised to refer to OEM, which after the experience I've had with multiple mail hosts, I'm inclined to agree. However, I'd like to find a reason and/or fix for this. Personally, I have around 6 emails all from different hosts and the only one that always works is Gmail. I've tried Yahoo, Hotmail, Qwest(using MSN as a portal partner) and all have connection issues. I'm familiar with the ports and have set up each manually and with the automatic option. I've verified all ports, authentication settings, and servers for both incoming and outgoing. Has anyone had the same issue? I like my Mac but am not impressed with the default mail client, so I might change. I can't think of any reason why only the outgoing server would have issues connecting... perhaps some kind of port forwarding needs to be enabled on the routers? I'm not sure, but if that's the case it seems a bit much. Anyone have any idea how to get this issue fixed or a reason why it is happening? Normally, I would associate it with user error because that's the reason for most tech support calls, lol, but I have the same issue. Any help would be great. Thanks in advance.

    Thank you for the reply. I no longer have a Hotmail account after it was hijacked in January. Microsoft single-handidly decided to close my account, without offering any remedial actions. Mind you, they still keep me as a customer and I can access my profile. What is the purpose of keeping my info up to date if they do not want me as a customer? Apple and Mobile Me help centres were useless. I would not know how to use 5 SMTP servers, let alone one. I do need your help. Thank you

  • SMTP Server (port 25) issues on iPhone - IOS 4.1, 4.2.1

    SMTP Server Issues ios on iPhone 4.1 / ios 4.2.1
    I use an IMAP email account Administered by my company ( I'am administrator in linux/freebsd, etc) and i have it set-up on my iPhone 4 (factory unlocked and NOT jailbreak). The incoming mail server works fine on wifi and 3G Both But the smtp server only works on wifi. If I Attempt to send a message while on 3G Attempts to send the phone for about 5/10/15... and never sent.
    perform a downgrade to version 4.1 and the problem remains. Before ios 4.0.1 had no problems.
    Testing:
    I jailbreak (in 4.1) (only for install net commands in console), install console and "telnet smtp.mycompany.com 25" and time out, but turn wifi and connect; "ping smtp.mycompany" is ok.
    Set wifi on, try "telnef smtp.mycompany.com 25" is ok !!!, turn wifi of, try 3G same problem, time out.
    Restore no jailbreak 4.1 and try and same problem, restore 4.2.1 no jailbreak and same problem. Try change sim (personal to movistar) and same problem.
    BUT!!!!!!! a try:
    1) Change in my company smtp server port 25 to 587 (in really dnat 587 to 25).
    2) set in my iphone smtp server new port 587 (same smtp server, but ONLY change port)
    and ok !!!
    I try, jailbreak, install console, telnet smtp.mycompany.com 587 is ok !!!!...
    Where is the problem ios 4.1 / 4.1.2 smtp server port 25 ???????
    Ios 4.1 / 4.2.1 very very many problems in 3G data in all applications.

    my car. When I upgraded to the iPhone 4, it wouldn’t work with the FM

  • Offline/outgoing server issues - delete SMTP keychain entries?

    does anyone know if it is worthwhile deleting various entries in my keychain for SMTP server items and if so is there anything i need to save?
    i need to try and isolate some email problems but i cannot tell if this is a valid troubleshooting step and if so what i am supposed to save.
    i have 15 accounts on 2 different devices so i would like to avoid re-setting up (for like the 50th time) all my email accounts.

  • SMTP Server issues on iPhone

    I use an IMAP email account administered by my university and I have it set up on my iPhone 4. The incoming mail server works fine on both wifi and 3G but the smtp server only works on wifi. If I attempt to send a message while on 3G the phone attempts to send for about 5 minutes and then gives up. I called TELUS and they had me add their smtp server smtp.telus.net which works fine for sending emails on 3G but an error message pops up when I try to use it on wifi.
    I currently have my university smtp server as the primary server and the TELUS server as secondary and this works ok except that when i try to send a message on 3G the phone tries the university server for at least 5 minutes before switching to the TELUS server. If I set the TELUS server as primary the phone gives me an error message right away if I try to send on wifi and won't even try the secondary server.
    Does anyone know a way to make it so that the phone will send the message with the correct server without waiting 5 minutes to send each message?

    With one of my users this same issue was occurring.
    No matter if he used ATT primary SMTP or our SMTP server as a primary/secondary, going from 3G to wifi and around the environments through out his day would always end up with either side going well and the other end not sending at all.
    We used this work-around I saw posted in some other forum:
    Disable the primary (whatever SMTP it is set to) SMTP selection.
    Put both 3G SMTP and local SMTP as secondary servers and active.
    For some reason if the primary fails to connect, the switch to secondary does not seem to occur or does not occur within the time-out period causing mail sending errors. With the primary SMTP setting disabled, both servers in the secondary list will be checked promptly with no issues.

    I have an wifi ipad 2 and an iphone 5 on EE 4G network. I have configured the iphone 5 as a wifi hotspot, I can connect my ipad, browse the web receive emails etc. the problem comes when I want to send emails, it keeps telling me there is a network error. I know this is not true, I have a feeling it has something to do with SMTP outgoing server, possibly the port number?  The incoming servier is port 110 and I have outgoing set at port 587 but think it could be some other port or some other issue. Would appreciate any help anyone can shed on this issue

    My problem has been resolved.
    Regarding that, probably you should check with SMTP server admin.
    For me, the shcedule was success but didn't receive mail. I think the SMTP server admins cleared any firewall filters.
    Not sure. Please check with your SMTP server admin.

    The debug output doesn't show an obvious problem. You're
    going to have to actually debug your program. A debugger
    might be helpful.

  • How to solve the SMTP server issue.

    I did the migration from SharePoint 2010 to SharePoint 2013 , the workflow emails are sent perfectly in SharePoint 2010 but when i configure the SharePoint 2013 the following error has occurred. 
    Error : The e-mail message cannot be sent. Make sure the outgoing e-mail settings for the server are configured correctly.
    Please let me know if you aware of this.

    That's pretty much all the settings you need to do on the SharePoint side.  Does the SMTP server that you are pointing to allow incoming emails from your SharePoint server IP Address?  It might only allow relay services to specific IP ranges.
     Or maybe you have a firewall that is blocking it?

  • Using two gmail accounts in Mac Mail client, smtp server issue

    I've set up two gmail accounts (one personal, one from my job) in Mac Mail. The personal account is set up via POP, the job account is IMAP. I receive mail into each account with no problem. However Mac Mail won't allow me to set up two separate smtp.gmail.com servers (one for each account). If I edit my SMTP server list and try to change either account individually, it changes BOTH accounts. So I can receive with no problem, but can only send mail from both accounts from ONE account (which ever one I've programed). Is there a way to set up two SMTP severs through gmail (one for each account)?

    I have two separate ones set for password authentication to two different accounts.
    In your smtp server list, how many are listed? If only one, click the add button and set it up for the other account.

    Had my iPhone for a few months and works generally how i want it to, however one small thing that annoys me!
    My email account is from my personal domains pop3 service ie [email protected] and messages can be received and sent perfectly via edge in the UK using o2's smtp server, if my phone is connected wirelessly to my network when i'm at home sending messages will fail, I know thats because it cant use o2's smtp server but whats the solution?
    My domains pop3 email doesnt have its own smtp server so on my mac i use my isp's one and it works fine but the phone wont let me add seperate smtp one for edge and one for wireless.
    Any suggestions?

    That wouldn't help, as it would only work for your home wireless. It would not work at other wireless access points.
    You can subscribe to a 3rd party SMTP server for a small fee. If you have a gmail account (which is free) you can use their SMTP servers.
    Have you tried using your ISP's SMTP server with authentication? Many (but not all) ISPs support this.

  • My e-mails are not sending. "connection to SMTP server timed out." How do I get this working?

    As of yesterday, I am receiving e-mails fine; however, unable to send. Everytime I try to send an e-mail, I get "Sending of message failed. The message could not be sent because the connection to SMTP server (my mail address) timed out. Try again or contact your network administrator.
    I received help from lunarpages (they host my domain); however, they were unable to resolve the issue. They suggested something is blocking IP, or need to update Thunderbird, or there's a firewall there...

  • Cannot send emails - connection to SMTP server timeout

    I cannot send emails from my Thunderbird. Every time I try, an error message shows up saying that the connection to SMTP server has timed out:
    "Sending of message failed.
    The message could not be sent because the connection to SMTP server smtp.lineone.net timed out. Try again or contact your network administrator."
    I have looked at many different possible solutions and tried them, but nothing seems to be working. I have tried several different ports, failed to send in Safe Mode with Networking and Thunderbird safe mode without add-ons and tried many different settings. I have ensured that the my settings on Thunderbird match the settings that my ISP recommends. My anti-virus software is not affecting it either. Maybe there is something I am missing but I would really appreciate any suggestions!

    Mail provider: lineone
    ISP: BT
    Anti-virus software: AVG
    OS: Windows Vista
    Thunderbird version: 31.5.0

    Firstly, I would suggest reading this support article: https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/cannot-send-messages
    If that doesn't help, try some of these things (not sorted in any particular order):
    *Test your connection in another network. There might just be some blocked ports in your router or conflict of some sort.
    * Test your smtp settings in another email client (to ensure that they actually work). If it doesn't work, there might be some missmatch with the settings (even though you have ensured that they match), or some restriction by your router or something.
    * Apparently, compacting your thunderbird folders might help with this issue (something to do with too many "deleted", that are still there) - http://kb.mozillazine.org/Thunderbird_:_Tips_:_Compacting_Folders

    If you see the last command line that saying queued for delivery. what are the causes for this.

  • Cannot connect to SMTP server using Outlook Connector

    Hi All,
    I am trying to connect outlook client to my oracle mail server in OCS. I have succefully installed the Outlook connector but when i try to connect it gives me the following error:
    The SMTP server is unavailable.
    When i click on retry it gives me the option to enter the Server name, i type the server name with fully qualified domain name. ( i can ping the server from the client pc from where i am trying to connect). But no luck at all.
    However i am able to send receive e-mail from the wb client, no issues at all, which means my SMTP server is up and running. I have also verified that listener_es process is up and running.
    Any suggestions or ideas would be highly appreciated.

    You are absolutely correct. I added the client in /etc/hosts file and it all worked well.
    Not just connecting the client but also when i telnet on port 25 i dont get the spam error.
    ALso, i have seen lots of your input on the forums and has been very helpfull.
    Thankyou so much.
    I will be attempting to migrate some of my users via export/import from .pst file. These users have about 9000 mails in their mail box. During the normal migration i had errors and couldnt migrate these users. Let me see how it goes now.
