Issue in UDF

hi all,
  I m writing a UDF in which I ma defining another function. Code is something like:-
public String fn_Create_OutputFileName(String strDate,String strInput,Container container){
String strValue=-------;
public void fun(String --,Container container)
return "";
I m geting an error that illiget start of expression at public void fun(String --,Container container)
Is it possible to write a function in UDF.
Please help me out
Thanks
Jaideep

Jaideep.
You cannot use a void function within the UDF. This itselves is a function.
Why do you need an extra function. If this is required create a new UDF with the outcome of the first as input for the second.

    Hi Alex,
    I had a scenario like this in the past.
    In most cases you call Services for Lookups.
    In such a Case use the
    Com.sap.aii.mapping.lookup.api and use the accessor and the lookup services for the same.
    In such a case the Communication Channel can store the web addresses and XML,
    you just need to
    1. Create a Channel object  based on the channel
    2. Derive a accessor out of it
    3. Use the accessor to Bulid your payload
    4. parse your payload.

  • Issue in Dynamic configuration in SOAP receiver channel

    Hi All,
    My scenario is file to SOAP. At receiver side I want to generate URL dynamically.
    To proceed step by step, I started with passing a constant URL to Dynamic configuration UDF.
    mapping:
    Dynamic conf. UDF
    Channel Configuration:
    From testing, I found that channel always takes the url given in Target URL field and dynamic URL in TserverLocation is been ignored by the channel.
    That is dynamic configuration is not working completely.
    I went through a lot of blogs and also tried a lot of trial and error methods, but none helped. Every thing I configured looks perfect for me, but still not working. I don't understand where I went wrong. Please help me.

    Hi Experts,
    I am facing similar issue,
    URL --> UDF --> @dynamicvariable
    I have created a variable underparent node eg: DESADV-->dynamicvariable
    passed complete URL to UDF, below is the UDF
    & configured SOAP Receiver Channel as well. This is IDOC to IDOC scenario, using IDOC_AAE on sender side and SOAP on receiver in single stack.
    --> Checked ASMA
    --> Checked Variable Transport Binding and given "TServerLocation" without quotes in XHeaderName1
    --> Target URL: http://
    But when I am running this interface, nothing is coming in Dynamic configuration.
    Ref: Message Log:
    MM and OM is also perfect in ESR.
    Any suggestions? Please advice.

  • Maximum amount of UDF

    Hello,
    our customer has reached an (maybe) undocumented limit of UDFs.
    In OINS he is managing 359 UDFs.
    Can anyone give me a hint for a documentation or note relatetd to this issue, pls?
    Kind regard

    Thanks to all,
    we decide to give the customer an addon-solution to manage the enhanced informations in UDO-Objects and link the UDO to the SAP BO masterdata table.
    It was just, what is known about this issue of UDF limits by the experts. Just to give the customer the information, that he has to use an addon for this businessprocess.

  • Third Party WebService call: SOAP Lookup vs SOAP Adapter Scenario.

    Hello Experts,
    What are the pros and cons of using SOAP Look up in Message Mapping for webService call.
    Previously my scenario was a standard SOAP Adapter Scenario. But it had BPM, so I have designed it via SOAP look up in Message Map to avoid BPM.
    I want to know what are the merits and demerits (In terms of Performance - Payload size:Runtime, Maintanence, Configurability,etc) of using SOAP Look up instead of standard SOAP Scenario.
    Regards,
    Sudharshan N A

    HI,
    I am assuming that you migth have visted this link
    SOAP Lookup - /people/bhavesh.kantilal/blog/2006/11/20/webservice-calls-from-a-user-defined-function
    SOAP Look-ups are very much possible and performance wise also its preferrable as compare to BPM.
    Its pretty much simple and easy way to handle it with UDFs.
    The performance could also depend upon what kind of things you need to achive or replacing with BPM.
    If you will be dealing with too many resources in BPM then that creates the performance overloaded issues.
    UDFs also have the performance problems nased on the payload size but very minimal.
    Thanks

  • User define function - data type integer

    All,
    I am defining a udf. I can not select integer data type for an argument.
    did anyone facer this issue.
    reg

    in UDF all the parameters are of the type String only. You can not change them. This is becaue, XI interanlly represents them as strings and maintains the Qs for contexts etc. So you have to type cast them manually to integers inside the UDF.

  • Mail attachment generated in UDF in SAP PI 7.1 - Issue with line feed

    Hello,
    Situation is:
    Implemented a scenario in SAP PI 7.1 with a mail receiver following this thread:
    /people/samuel.chandrasekaran2/blog/2008/10/06/xi-mail-adapter-dynamically-building-attachment-and-message-body-content-using-a-simple-udf
    which is about moving message lines from sender into an attachment forn the receiver mail.
    It is working great!
    The receiver gets the mail including the attachment with all added lines.
    But when opening this mail there is an issue depending on the program we are using to open the attachment
    which is defined as txt file
    - Using MS Editor 5.1 (Windows XP 2007, SP3) the Carriage returns and line feeds (added with
    in the UDF) to separate the message lines are not recognized. In the Editor each
        is shown as □   within the text.  Word wrap (flag set in the editor) is different to the carriage return/line feeds set in the file.
    - Using MS Notepad 5.1 (Windows XP 2007, SP3)   situation is the same but
        is NOT shown as □ , it simply seems to be unvisible. Word wrap (flag set in the editor) is different to the carriage return/line feeds set in the file.
    - Using Word 2007 the carriage returns are recognized and used in a correct way to display the file content. But now mutated vowels (äüö) are not recognized. They are displayed as
    So I followed this thread:
    http://help.sap.com/saphelp_nw04/helpdata/en/96/f04142099eb76be10000000a155106/content.htm
    Nice....
    In the editors there is no change, but when opening the file in Word it asks now how to convert the file content
    (proposing UTF-8) and Word recognizes mutual vowels.
    But there seems to be a side effect....
    Following the second link,  PI recognizes an error.
    This is the error message.
    MP: exception caught with message Null as XI message received (PrincipalData in ModulData is null)
    Adapter Framework caught exception: Null as XI message received (PrincipalData in ModulData is null)
    Delivering the message to the application using connection Mail_http://sap.com/xi/XI/System failed, due to: com.sap.engine.interfaces.messaging.api.exception.MessagingException: java.lang.Exception: Null as XI message received (PrincipalData in ModulData is null).
    But the message is sent to the mail recipient which could be ok if PI would not repeat the mail sending now for several times.
    So we will receive not one but a number of mails.
    So we removed the modul recommended in this help link from the channel.
    Result: Behaviour in Word changed now to the described one. But the errors are no longer coming up in channel monitoring incl. message send repetition. So this is a first success. But the partner wants to process the files first with one of the named editors. So we are looking for another solution now to fix the last issue!
    Your ideas are really welcome!
    Best regards

    Hi,
    as I found this in wikipedia:
    Another common problem is the use of '\n' when communicating using an Internet protocol that mandates the use of ASCII CR+LF for ending lines. Writing '\n' to a text mode stream works correctly on Windows systems, but produces only LF on Unix, and something completely different on more exotic systems. Using "\r\n" in binary mode is slightly better, as it works on many ASCII-compatible systems, but still fails in the general case. One approach is to use binary mode and specify the numeric values of the control sequence directly, "\x0D\x0A".
    Back to my issue:
    In the UDF I am adding "\r\n" but only the "\n" seems to survive!
    In Mapping test line feeds are available and the lines are shown as expected.
    Using Notepad ++ to open the created txt file from the mail shows that LF is in the file at each end of line but CR is missing.
    CR is only at the end of the last line in the file and is not from the UDF that creates the mail or the UDF that creates the attachment lines. Seems that this is added somewhere else behind the mapping.
    This is what I found in galileo computing
    (http://www.galileocomputing.de/glossar/gp/anzeige-11241/FirstLetter-Z, SORRY, only available in german language!):
    In Parsing of XML-Documents the XML-Parser changes the end of line delimiter internally in general to a simple line feed (LF, #0A) as usual in UNIX. ..... In Windows this could result in problems with readability of  source texts (e.g. in Notepad) which can be solved by choosing the right editor.
    My target application is on Windows and not able to "choose" the right editor (PI system is on windoes OS too) !
    But Im wondering where the CR at the end of the text comes from when all the \r\n will be replaced with \n as described.
    Ideas are really welcome!
    Best regards
    Dirk

  • Issue with the UDF in MM

    Hi All,
    I have trying to use a user defined function in the XI message mapping.
    Here is the code of the User defined function :
    if (a != null)
         return "test";
    else
         return "fail";
    The mapping looks like :
    a -> UDF -> result.
    If I am sending the tag for "a" ; I get the result as "test".
    But I am fully avoiding the tag itself. ( not even the empty tag);  I get the error saying " Cannot produce the target element ...result".
    Can anyone help me in resolving the issue ?
    "a" is defined as an optional field.
    The above case is just a prototype for a big problem.
    Good Day!!!

    Hi
    use the UDF in the following way.
    if(!a.equals(""));
    return("test")
    else
    return("fail");
    if u r getting the error as "Cannot produce the target element ...result"
    then check the occurence for the target field whether the filed  is mandatory or not.
    if it's occurence is 1..1 then u have to map this filed with some source filed.
    Thanks
    Rinku

  • Check a UDF of batch number when I create Goods Issue or Delivery

    Hello,
    I manage my items with batch number and I want to block the creation of all  Goods Issue or Delivery in function of the value of a UDF (created the OIBT table).
    I think I can achieve this by using the stored procedure SBO_SP_TransactionNotification, but I never used it and I don't know if (and how) I can retrieve the selected batchnumbers of my documents.
    Is it possible to do so, or do you have any better suggestions???
    Thank You,
    Xavier.

    Hi Xavier,
    You can find some additional information about the SBO_SP_TransactionNotification stored procedure here:
    [https://www.sdn.sap.com/irj/scn/go/portal/prtroot/docs/library/uuid/e991e2b9-0901-0010-0395-ef5268b00aaf]
    The stored procedure only returns the following;
    - Object type
    - Transaction type
    - Num_of_cols_key (number of columns in the primary key of the object)
    - List_of_key_cols_tab_del (the list of the columns in the primary key)
    - List_of_cols_val_tab_del (the values of these columns)
    So the stored procedure doesn't directly return the information you want. You would have to link this with a DI application to access the document in question using the value of the primary key returned by the stored procedure. (Or through using an SQL query also using the primary key returned by the SP).
    Please note however, that SBO_SP_TransactionNotification is designed for notification purposes only. SAP can only support any issues arising out of use as a notification mechanism; the use of this stored procedure to block transactions or work as an authentication step are not supported. Please see SAP note 1011154 for more information.

  • Issues in P6v7 saving layouts with UDF's and Filters

    In P6v7 have created series of layouts which contain columns for UDF's and Layout Filters based on selecting green form Indicator type UDF's
    The project activities have entries in the UDF's eg the UDF fields have entries for most but not all of activities.
    When exporting the layouts as .plf files and importing into another version of P6v7 the UDF's come in correctly however the columns are missing from the spreadsheet.
    Also when importing the layout filter criteria doesn't come across correctly - or at all.
    Is this a bug or at the least a known issue.
    Any help welcomed.

    If you don`t already yuse the xfl file format instead of the fla, try this.
    If possible dont use network drives for saving.

  • UDF in Goods Issue Form

    Hi,
    I want to create one UDF in Goods Issue screen (Inventory module)-header level. But I could not found the appropriate place in the category field of Manage User Defined Field window from where I usually create UDFs. How can I create?

    Hi Sibasish
    You can categories your UDFs based on your requirement.  Suppose you have an UDF for SO and another for PO.  But both the UDF you have created under Marketing Documents -> Header.
    Now open the SO screen, activate the UDF Window by pressing CtrlShiftU, then Tools -> User-defined fields -> Settings.  Here you can create two categories like SO & PO.  Assign the desired field under catergory SO and uncheck the visible option for other field(s).  And in the UDF window select the Category SO instead of General.
    Follow the same steps for PO also.
    Now, when you re-open the SO or PO screen you can see only the relevant UDFs.

  • UDF in Goods Issue

    Hi All '
    Can any one guide me on how to create udfs in Goods issue and Goods reciept and also in Issue components for production Screen
    I am using SAP B1 2007 b Version
    Thanks in Advance
    Praveen B K

    Goods Issues, Goods Receipts, and Issue for Production are all marketing documents, just like sales and purchasing documents.  When you create UDF's for marketing document title or rows, the fields will be available in all of these documents.
