Issues in building licensed installer

Hi everybody,
I am trying to build licensed installers for our company's toolkits. For testing the installer, I changed the date settings of the system and increased it by more than 30 days. Then the addon status turns "Expired" and if I revert the date, it shows "Invalid".
But keeping the date ahead of 30 days from now,  if I uninstall the toolkit which is showing the status as "Ëxpired" and install it again, 30 days of evaluation is appearing again. After several attempts, 2012 version of the installer is working correctly when  "Windows 7 and later" option under Advanced --> System requirement is checked before building the installer. I want to build 2010 and 2011 version of the installers too. But the same settings are not working for these two versions. Is this observed by any of you here or am I missing something?
Here are the steps I am following to build the installer. Please go through it and If you see any discrepency, let me know.
I am following the steps given in Tutorial:  License a LabVIEW Library Using Standard Mode. I am listing the difference between my installer and the guide here -
The guide shows a snapshot of the application (.exe) file added to the project, which shows niwebserver.conf file under CallRegisterAddon.exe. But when I am creating exe file, there is no such file getting generated even for some some test files.
The guide I am referring doesn't mention KEYLIB32.dll and SKCA32.dll whereas in this link, it is asking the user to add these files under [LabVIEW]\resource directory. So, I have included these files in my project.
In the pdf document, it is mentioned that License file should be set "Unlocked"attribute. But selection that option is not enabled in my project.
Under Registry option of the installer, is there any thing particular that Ineed to add? Right now I am adding just the project name.
Kindly help me solve this issue.
Thank you,
Sharath

I have also tried to build the installer using VI Package Manager as suggested by Stephen Roso, Partner Program Engineer,NI. But while I am building it, It is taking a lot of time at "preparing source distribution" step and abort with an error 7 stating file is missing. It is looking for a VI ..LabVIEW 2010\instr.lib\NITUNER\niTuner Set Freq for SMT.vi. which is being wrongly claimed by one of the library of my project. RFSA is already installed in my system. But NITUNER folder is not existing in the instr.lib folder. I have tried reinstalling it but it has not not helped. So, it would be great if any of you can share the NITUNER folder with me so that I can place it under instrl.lib and try building the package.
Thank you,
Sharath

I am not sure what your specific issue is but I simply wanted to say that I had no issues creating installers LV 2009 for our VLA. Have you checked that destination drive that you are putting the installer on to ensure that it does have enough space and that you do have permissions to write to it?

  • How to specify license triad for volume license installer

I'm trying to create a volume license installer and specify a license server triad for server settings.  However it gives me an error if I enter 3 servers.  It only allows me to enter one server name.  How do I specify a triad?  For example: licsrv1:27050,licsrv2:27050,licsrv3:27050

    ecaille,
First, I jsut wanted to mention that if you want help with VLM in the future, it is best to post in the VLM specific forum located here.
To solve this issue you have to use a workaround because the Volume License Installer creation process does not support more than one server, and unfortunately the XML files that are used for the installers also won't accept more than one server.
To fix this you can create 3 separate Volume License Installers, one for each server. You can then create a batch file that runs the first complete VLI (just running setup.exe so the software installs also), and then runs the vlmclient.exe from the second two VLIs. The vlmclient.exe is the file that adds the servers to the computer. Therefore by running the first VLI you install the software and the first server, and then you append the second and third server names to the registry key for the server by running the second two vlmclient.exe files. Note that you need to keep the Client folders (that contains vlmclient.exe) separate because you need to run each separately as the XML files have different configurations to add each new server.
The shortcut for this is to simply copy the Client folder from the first VLI you create, and edit the <server></server> tags in the vlmclient.xml file in the two copies you make to contain the other two servers.

  • Installed 8.5 and now I can't build an installer with 8.0

I've been using 8.0 to write some applications.  We have the professional development system contract or whatever with NI providing upgrades.  Our IT dept came and installed 8.5 on my computer.  I used it for a short while, then went back to 8.0.  I have not un-installed 8.5.   I'm now experencing problems building an installer with 8.0.  I get the message box that it is "unable to locate the installer source for NI Labview 8.5 distribution" and a default D drive for the original CDs which I don't have.  I do have the original 8.0 CD's and mainly for that reason  want to continue to use 8.0.  In the build process I am using additional installers for datasocket and visa 4.2.  If I uncheck them the install process will complete.  Is there someway for me to force my installer builder to use the 8.0 files instead of 8.5?  Could I do this by un-installing 8.5?  I re-installed 8.0 hoping that would help but it did not.  I searched for this problem and found several earlier postings concerning this problem but none specific to this particular issue.  thanks for any advice, Mike

Thanks for the input centerbolt.  What a pain huh?  I'll have to think about if I want to do all that for a while   While I have administrative rights on my pc, the IS dept. is so paranoid what people might do I'm uncertain of restrictions that might stop me part way through and then be unable to recover or something.    I like LV a lot but not real happy with the build processes for compiling programs and installs.  If I copy the  LV CDs to my C drive and then do the installation from there rather than the CD drive, will the program installer quick defaulting to the D drive for unfound drivers?  Does that make sense?  Anyway, thanks again.

  • Can't build any installer

    Hi,
I can't build any installer, even for simple test application - with the same result on two computers (one with W7-32 and another - with w7-64) and different LV (LV2009, LV2010sp1, LV2011) .

    Hi diz_vara,
Try downloading and installing the new update service, this will update the installer framework.  On occasion, upgrading and including multiple versions of LabVIEW can leave some older dependencies and the new framework can fix some of these issues.

  • OEM System Builder License Type VS PID Check

    Hi,
I have a question regarding the type of license that are the OEM System Builder one. At work, I have several boxes of Windows 7 Professional OEM System Builder licenses. Basically, it is made of a plastic DVD box wrapped in a thin carton, sealed with a small
red sticker when it's new so that you don't get to take out the plastic box from the carton. Inside the box, there's a manual and the installation DVD of Windows. On the box, there's a OEM CoA sticker that can be pealed off to stick it on a computer's chassis.
In my understanding, these licenses should be OEM CoA licenses. Is that right?
To check a license type, I use this
    online PIDchecker.
After checking all my OEM System Builder CoA licenses from this website, I found out that only one was
CoA, the other one being either Retail or
    VL:MAK.
I precise that I work in China Mainland and it's rather hard to get genuine products as most of suppliers provide counterfeit licenses, even when ordering PC with genuine Windows OEM license from official brand retailers like Lenovo China. When I catch them
and ask to rectify the situation, they often do so by giving me a OEM System Builder box/license. Even though I know I'm not supposed to be allowed to use these types of license as an end user, I have no choice and it's better than nothing. However, when I
started to work for my current company, several OEM System Builder licenses had already been purchased and I got suspicious of the authenticity of the products, that's why I checked the PID.
So my question is: do the Retail and VL:MAK license types found from OEM System Builder licenses mean that these products are counterfeit?

    Hi,
Thanks for your advise. I didn't really realize the risks of using such a website for license check but now that you pointed out, you're right.
I'll use MGADiag tool, which I already used before, but I also would liked to check the license before installing them. Is there any official MS tool similar to PID checker, that can check the license just by manually entering it?
I'm surprised about what you said: " as an end-user you are allowed to install the OS via the OEM System Builder Kit."
When I read about the licensing policy about OEM System Builder on MS official website, I remember that only OEM system builder are allowed to use this kind of kit. That would be either big brands such as Lenovo, Dell, HP or small PC retailers that have an
OEM agreement with MS to install OEM licenses on DIY PC.
OEM System Builder licenses are available to smaller companies or hobbyists/individuals (e.g. design/build-your-own).
"Tier 1" OEM's e.g. Lenovo, HP, Dell, etc, don't use OEM-SB, they use "OEM", and have special tools provided to them by MSFT for implanting product keys within firmware/BIOS.
Tier 1 OEM's sell lots and lots of products with MSFT licenses "attached".

  • Oracle JDeveloper 11g (11.1.2.2.0) (Build 6183)Installations

I clicked the Studio Edition:11.1.2.2.0 Windows Install Download File button from the Oracle JDeveloper 11g (11.1.2.2.0) (Build 6183)Installations page. After that I clicked Save and a window displayed with the % complete. It goes to 99% complete and 1 sec left and this seems to hang at that point. I've left it going for several minutes and then eventually cancelled it. I have the correct jdk version. Any suggestions?

You mean the download hangs at 99%?
That its usually the point when your virus checker starts its work. Some such programs are known to have trouble with large archive files containing many files.
Try to download with three virus checker turned off.

I am using Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit OS.I've never had this problem before... today I opened iTunes and it prompted me to download the newest version.  I use iTunes all the time and have updated it multiple times with no issues.  During the installation process it gave me an error message that said:
    Runtime error!
    Program C:\Program Files\iTunes.exe
    R0634
An application has made an attempt to load the C runtime library incorrectly.
Please contact the application's support team for more information.
I quit the installation, uninstalled iTunes and rebooted my computer.  I now receive a similar message with a slight difference:

Please contact the application's support team for more information.
I did not leave anything out from the error message.  It doesn't point to a specific file, it just ends with "(x86)..."  Every time I boot up my computer, this error message pops up on my desktop.
How do I repair this issue?  I have found multiple suggested solutions but am unsure which one is the best, and I don't want to try a bunch of different things for fear I may make the problem worse.  I would like to try and fix this myself if possible but I need to know if that is really possible or if I need to take my computer to someone for repairs.  Any suggestions will be greatly appreciated!!

    Hi lustyln,
I'm having a little trouble understanding all of what you are trying to explain. From what I can tell, it sounds like your PC has a lot of software problems and you want to know what is supposed to be there and what isn't.
For reference, here are your product specifications:

To get your PC software back to how it was when it was first purchased, run a system recovery:

  • Error while building application installer and exe

i had tried to build an installer and exe for my appication which application and exe building is successfull. but when we install it over the system it does not read  analog input and digital inputs and showing NaN in the indicator,I have treid many a ways and this works after disabling the counter reading section which is used to read the pulses from the quadrature encoder. when i again include that particular section it shows the same error. also this entire code works beautifully without any error from our source code, what might be the possible cause , please help me,

    Hi Kodee,
    1)     Are using error handling in your code?  Are you getting any errors?
    2)     What version of LabVIEW are you using?  If you are using 8.0 or newer, then you can build a debuggable executable:

  • Issue with building solution file using devenv.exe

    Hi,
I am facing an issue while building my solution file (developed in Visual Studio 2010) using devenv.exe from command line. The error is as below.
C:\Code\trunnk\common\Controller\Controller.vcxproj : error  : The expression "[System.IO.Path]::Combine(C:\Code\trunk\common\Controller\, "C:\Code\trunk\out/Release/x64"\Controller.exe)" cannot be evaluated. Illegal characters in
    path.  C:\Program Files (x86)\MSBuild\Microsoft.Cpp\v4.0\Microsoft.CppCommon.targets
Could you please help me in understanding the above error and fixing it.

Thanks for all the information. Currently i've tried to use both modules (TextCodepageConversionBean and XMLAnonymizerBean) in my Sender File Adapter, but for now without any result...
To describe the situation: i am using flatfiles which i am fetched from the file system (NFS) by the Sender File Adapter. To translate the characters to the XML strucutre, the File Content Conversion protocol is been used.
The content conversion defines the structure base on the first two characters on each row in the flat file. This worked fine till one of our suppliers is delivering BOM characters like "EF BB BF" in the beginning of the file. The content conversion is not able to recognize my header characters in this situation, which will normally start with "01".
    Any suggestions?

  • Build an installer including folders that aren't in project?

My VIs work in my project.  I am programmatically deploying two libraries.  When I build an application and run that the libraries don't deploy even though they are "Always Included" in the application build.  I think this is because they reside on my computer in folders and the application builder doesn't know what to do with them.  All that doesn't really matter to me because if I manually move the folders to the location where the built application resides, it works as expected and deploys the libraries.  The problem is when I want to build an installer for someone else to run on a remote computer.  I can't choose the folders with the libraries in them and where they should install to when I build the installer.  What am I expected to do?

I've had similar experiences with getting non-referenced files included in the application builder. The solution I found was to create a new folder in the destinations tab of the app builder and select all the non-referenced files to be placed there in the source file settings tab. I've only used this solution with an application builder, and have never created an installer program, but hopefully it will work for this too.
    Hope this helps,
    Andy

  • Include other directories in build or installer

The engineer I am writing this program for hates to dig around for files so the software specification call for several config files to be found off the root directory.
    C:/Program_Name/System_Config
    C:/Program_Name/Instrument_Config
    C:/Program_Name/Test_Scripts
How can I include these files in a build or installer so they are created on install and default config files placed in the proper directories?
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

Look in the Destinations Category in the dialog to create a new installer.  The build specifications for an installer by default puts the executables into [Program Files]\YourProjectName where [Program Files] is a token that specifies whatever is the Program Files folder for the PC you are installing to.  There are numerous other tokens for other paths such as Windows, System, Desktop, ....
I would first try to put in a new folder under the [Windows Volume] branch of the tree.  (There is a New Folder Icon at the bottom of the tree.)  I'm assuming Windows Volume is going to be the root of whatever drive you have Windows installed on, which should be C:\
You could also add a new directory such as c:\YourProjectName which would put an absolute path for installing the executable to.
