ISync with Samsung SPH-800 Instinct cell phone on Sprint service

Anyone have an idea how to sync the Instinct with iMac using OS X 10.5.6, or MacBook using 10.4.11?

I tenuously believe you could not as of 1/1/09. No third party stuff, although apple makes it too hard to find out for sure, and some of the european third party isync plugin developers have obtuse websites.
For Sprint, I think the Blackberry Pearl will work with The Missing Sync ($) or PocketMac for Blackberry (free,) for iCal via a usb cable. No bluetooth. Address Book will not work. I think you have to use another program to sync contacts.
Sprint's upcoming iPhone-alike Palm Pre supposedly will support iSync, but early adopters often get the misery they deserve as unwitting beta testers.

  • Hunt group type Set up with outside ext numbers ie Cell phones

    Using CUCM 9.1
Is there a quick and easy way to create a hunt group type set up using outside (cell phone numbers)?
The scenario will be one (person who will be ON Call) using an internal DID that is forwarded to to a cell phone of the oncall person that particular week.  If no answer it would forward to the next line group of 4 members and also try their cell phones.  After this it would simply repeat the entire process.  So far it looks like a solution may be possible with single line reach perhaps?
Any insight would be grealy appreciated.
    Dave

    Hello,
I set up something like this on CUCM 8.0 a couple of years ago.
I used the Mobile Connect feature as you suggest and it worked ok after some playing about with the timers.
The main problem was that there was no way for the remote users to log out of the hunt group. They could disable Mobile Connect using the IVR but the calls would still ring on their deskphones - if you log out of the phones (i.e. Extension Mobility) before leaving the office this problem should not occur.
The other issue was how long calls took to connect especially if a couple of people in the group did not answer. We actually recorded a message asking callers to be patient that was played when the call was first received (we were using UCCX to do the IVR and call transfer).
    Hope this is of use.

  • I won an ipad 2 in a contest (64gb 3g) does it have a carrier already installed or can I use my cell phone carrier (sprint)

I won an ipod2 in a contest and have sprint for my cell phone carrier. Can I use sprint as a carrier on this ipad or does it have to be verizon or at&t?

I'm surprised that it doesn't say on the box. Does it say either "CDMA" or "GSM"? You can also check the model number; unless the information I found is incorrect, the GSM/AT&T model is A1396 and the CDMA/Verizon model is A1397. You can also look for a SIM slot. The Version-model iPad 2 doesn't have even an empty slot, if memory serves.
    Regards.

  • Suggestions for sync phone w/Sprint service

I need a new phone for work and there seems to be such a limited number that will work with my employer's Sprint service and my new mac's isync feature. I am in sales and my boss would like to keep it to $60 or so (with the rebate/new service). Possible? Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
    Thanks,
    Karen

I've just looked at the Sprint web-site, and, unbelievably, it appears you cannot get ANY of the most popular and Mac-friendly phones from them at all: i.e. Sony Ericsson or Nokia.
Natively iSync supported phones are listed here:
    http://www.apple.com/macosx/features/isync/index.html
then there are others supported by third-parties here:
    http://www.novamedia.de/sync
    http://www.feisar.com/sync
    http://www.markspace.com/missingsync_windowsmobile.php
But from Sprint's rather pathetic offering, it appears you'll be limited to a MOTORAZR - but check that it is 100% iSync compatible because some mobile networks cripple the phones they sell.

  • I'm thinking about using an iPad mini with data plan as a cell phone replacement, using Skype for phone service.

Seems like a less expensive alternative, with fewer devices.  Thoughts?

If you want to stay with your current plan, you would have to add 3 tiered data plans for the new smartphones. These would be $30/month(2 GB of data for each phone) for each of the data plans, increasing your bill by $90/month to $226/month for your total bill.
If you were to switch to the Share Everything plan, you would have an access fee of $40 for each of the lines for a total of $120. This would give you unlimited talk and text. On top of the $120, you would have to add a bucket of shared data which ALL of the phones would be able to access. For $80/month, you could get a bucket of 6 GB of data to be shared between all of the phones. So far that would bring your bill to $200/month. With taxes, it should end up being about the same cost as your old plan with the benefit of having unlimited minutes. If you find yourself using less data, you can cut your data cost by lowering the amount of shared data. For example, $70/ month for 4 GB of shared data. If you find yourself using more data, you can add more data, for example $90/month for 8 GB of shared data or $100/month for 10 GB of shared data instead of $80/month for 6 GB of shared data.
If you have any employee discounts available, these would ONLY come off the data portion of the Share Everything plan. Discounts on your current plan would not change if you currently have any.
    Decisions, decisions...

  • Re: Cell Phone Insurance and Service is Horrible at Best Buy Mobile

We were sold a GSP with an Iphone purchase last year - I pay $15+ a month for this plan and have already paid well over $200 to date. We had initially planned to get the insurance through our carrier ($6.99/mo) or an Apple plan, however this sales person talked us out of it telling us with those plans if you needed a repair you'd have to pay a deductible and other fees and with the GSP you could basically walk right of the store at that moment throw the phone into a puddle and smash it, come right back into the store and you would be give a NEW, NOT REFURBISHED, phone for free - no questions asked. Sounded like a no-brainer! My daughter's phone stopped working a week ago, she brought it to the store they assessed and told her they would order her a new phone. She picked up the "new" phone a few days later. When she picked up the phone she was told that they were having "wifi issues" and could not restore her back up onto her new phone that she would have to go home and do it herself. She went home and began the process and kept getting error messages; she called the Geek Squad at the store and explained what was going on; they told her they could not help her and that she would need to call Apple. She called Apple who initially did not want to help her as she did not have the Apple plan, but I guess felt sorry for her after hearing about Best Best Buy and decided to help her. As they talked her through the process, her "new phone" kept powering off. After it happening several times Apple told her that she had a defective phone and that she should bring it back to Best Buy. She did this yesterday morning. The Geek Squad checked the phone and told her it was fine. She explained that it keeps powering it self off randomly and they told her they would have to see the phone do it. She also asked to speak to a store manager to explain her dissatisfaction and tell them she just wanted a new phone like she was promised when we took out the insurance - this man was rude and refused to help her. He told her to go home and call 1-888-BestBuy. As the phone and the plan are actually in my name (her mother) I took over and called - the technician I spoke with on the phone - knew immediately that it was a power problem with the phone and that it needed to be replaced. He explained that sometimes the Techs that work in the store really don't have enough training and don't understand that certain issues don't show up on diagnostic tests. He apologized for the rude treatment that my daughter received at the store by the Geek Squad and the store manager and he would call the store to let them know we were bringing the phone back and they needed to get a replacement. At that moment things were fine. He then transferred me to the store and the Geek Squad who informed me that they would not give us a new phone - it would be another refurbished phone. So, after work today my husband and I headed back to Best Buy for yet another battle - that is if as Johnny from the Geek Squad put it - "they could squeeze us in" - they might not be able to talk to us without an appointment. This is for a phone exchange - not brain surgery. Best Buy is the worst store when it comes to customer service, and gross misrepresentations. I would never, every make a purchase from this store again and will tell everyone I know to stay away as well. I'm sure that this is not the end of our story - we already know that we will leave the store later completely dissatisfied and that the employees at Best Buy/Geek Squad will NOT handle this in an intelligent professional manner.

    Dear hazelnutcns,
When you purchase our Geek Squad Protection (GSP) for a device, it should be on the full understanding of how you are being protected by that plan. I am sorry if you were led to a different expectation based on what you were told at the time of purchase.
The Blue Shirts in our stores should be very knowledgeable on the major terms of the GSP plan so they may speak to those benefits confidently with our customers. The GSP for mobile devices, as autotech touched on above, can cover the type of issues your daughter was experiencing if it can be replicated by a Geek Squad agent in store. Our agents test these items in store because sometimes we can avoid sending out the device altogether by troubleshooting the issue(s) you are having, thus saving you a trip back to the store or time without your device. In the event you can’t locate your terms and conditions of your GSP, you may find them by clicking here.
Typically, stores shouldn’t let you leave the store with a phone that isn’t fully functional. They could have offered to keep the phone for you while they remedied the network issues that were preventing them from getting your daughter up and running again. This could have saved your daughter from calling for support. When I was working in our stores as a manager, I have also had Geek Squad agents keep customer’s devices for a couple hours or overnight to test sporadic issues like the one your daughter’s phone was facing; rather than sending you home with a device that may be truly defective. Were you able to receive a replacement phone in the end?
All in all, yours and your daughter’s experience with us should have looked much different. Using your email address you supplied here on the forums I was able to pull up your purchase history to see your Geek Squad Protection plan. I have already moved your feedback along to the leadership at the North Haven, CT (store 1488) location. Please let me know if you have any other questions or concerns as I would be glad to address them for you. I genuinely hope you give us another chance in the future to demonstrate the world class customer experience we work hard to provide each and every customer.
    Warmly,

    SRCLARK,
Great question! You can go to the store and get a replacement SIM card at the store. Any corporate store will be more than happy to help replacing your card. http://bit.ly/3SdsA

  • Using isync with my portable phone samsung E880. Please help

I want to use isync with my portable phone, but it is not recognize.
    Do you have the solution?

The Samsung E880 is not supported by iSync, and as it is about two years old now, is unlikely to be.
    http://www.apple.com/macosx/features/isync/devices.html
Only 2 of the latest Samsung models are supported by iSync, and those models were only added in the past month with the 10.4.9 update.
It may be worth contacting www.novamedia.de - they have added iSync support for an additional 3 Samsung models, and may be able to advise whether support for your phone is possible.

You actually want a vertical video??
What would you show that on?!
Rotating video or photos in iMovie 11:

In earlier versions of iMovie you can also do this using Quicktime Pro 7:
Open MOV file in QT Pro (QT 7.6.6)
    Window -> Show Movie Properties
    select "Video Track"
select "Visual Settings" from lower window
    check "Preserve Aspect Ratio"
Click on appropriate rotation icon (MOV rotates!)
Click back on the open MOV in Player Window
    FILE -> Save
You can also do this using TransformMovie, available here:

have been a Verizon customer since I got my first cell phone in my 30's - I am 50 now! A year ago, I stupidly opted to get a new phone on the EDGE program because I was trying my first Samsung device and was not sure I would like it having been an IPhone user for years.I was right! Or so I thought.... The Note 3 has been horrible. I am on my second phone(replaced it under warranty) and it still freezes, shuts off on its own, and will not come back on for long periods of time. Having had enough, I decided to EDGE Up to another device. On March 16th I tried to edge up my device online but was unable to. I immediately called to figure out what the problem was. Back in October I had a mix up in my billing where I had set up a payment. It was not done properly by customer service and as a result my line was cut off. I called the EXACT day it went off, filed a complaint about the lack of follow through for my arranged payment, and thought I had it straightened out as the payment was made that same day. That incident, although it was a Verizon error, caused my Edge Contract to be "hotlined". I spent an hour on the phone on March 16th clearing the whole mess up. When the conversation ended, the Verizon representative admitted it was a Verizon error, documented everything, and then told me she was filing a release for the hotline hold that would take a couple of days. Her name was Linda and I stupidly trusted what she said.
The days passed as I prepared to have a major foot surgery and to get my classroom straight before I would be out recovering for 3 weeks. All the time, my Samsung continued to glitch out like it has since I got it! While sitting on the couch recovering, I decided to deal with the phone issue again and EDGE UP. I figured 10 days latter, Linda would have taken care of the issue. Unfortunately, I faced the same problem and was told it was not eligible to edge up at this time. BACK on the phone again, 2 supervisors, 3 customer service reps. ( JOE from New York being the rudest customer service rep. I have EVER worked with) and 4 frustrating HOURS latter, Jason, the equally rude supervisor from Rochester, New York, informed me that Linda gave me BAD information, there was NOTHING he could do, and I am NOT eligible until April 14th!!!!! The WORST experience I have EVER had with a company. They were completely inept, rude, and not concerned about my time, my frustration, or the problems I was facing with their product in the LEAST. I have 4 LINES on Verizon that I am going to talk to Sprint about buying out. It was a horrible experience, and I can NOT believe I have no recourse or anyone to talk to....

Edge has very clear restrictions, one being that you must have 6 months of clean payment history which you don't. Either wait until April 14, or good luck at Sprint.
I am unsure how it can be determined the payment mix up was the fault of CS, but regardless, the mix up was done. There can be any number of reasons why a payment could be missed without any fault on your part, however you are still the responsible party for the account and must live with the repercussions.

  • Address Book vCards via Bluetooth to Samsung a900 "Blade" cell phone

I'm able to export Address Book contacts as vCards and then import them into one of the new Samsung a900 "Blade" Sprint phones using Bluetooth, but with a couple of vexing problems.
    1. I should clarify that I can import vCards into the new "Blade" cell phone from Address Book via Bluetooth, but only by dragging one card at a time, a very tedious process. Unfortunately, no data transfer occurs if I select multiple cards and drag them all at the same time. I'm using OS X (v10.4.2). Perhaps v10.4.4 and/or a more current AddressBook update will make a difference, or perhaps the problems are solely at the Samsung end...
After activating the paired phone and then launching Apple's Bluetooth File Transfer Utility, I'm dragging the vCards onto the OS X dock icon...
But before I do this, the "No Name" problem is forcing me to manually enter the Company Name into Address Book's last name field for every card that has no personal first/last name. Again, this is necessary just to get the Samsung a900's internal phone book to display something useful for these records (besides listing each record as "No name").
    2. When the phone software sees an entry with a Company Name only (but no First/Last Name entered), it goes brain dead and lists each entry as "No Name" instead of ignoring the empty Name fields and simply listing the Company Name. This is an age-old problem with dumb cell phone software (my previous Sanyo phone did this too). Unfortunately, Address Book exporting is useless without fixing this...Is there a way to get Address Book to format exported vCards to compensate for this shortcoming in the Phone interface?
More info on this phone and Macs is posted on an a900-Mac thread in the Samsung discussion at www.sprintusers.com. The "Blade" is Samsung's new model that copies the look-and-feel of the popular Motorola RAZR, and it is a very nice, if not entirely original, design, and a very hot phone at Sprint right now. It does have a few bugs, but some already have been addressed with a firmware update from Samsung. It's only been out since late November or early December of 2005.
I also cross-posted these questions in the Address Book and Mail forum...

All metioned problems are Samsung's fault. Blame them.
I've been assuming it was a Samsung problem, and have posted help requests in cell phone forums that Samsung engineers and/or support allegedly reads. I was hoping there might be some way to automate a workaround from the computer end...
Now, if Address Book had an option to define the fields that are to be exported or perhaps automatically sub Company Names for last names the problem would be solved when exporting for cell phones. I can't belive no one has ever encountered this before -- it has been a problem with every cell phone I have ever owned.

  • Itunes on my macbook air to my samsung galaxy note cell phone please??

    hello,
I'm trying to transfer my iTunes library to my samsung galaxy note cell phone.  I've downloaded an app that says it can do it, but it's not working.  Can you please help me with this?
    Thank you!

iTunes is not capable of syncing music to a non-Apple phone.

  • How Do I Download Pictures From My Samsung M320 Cell Phone

Does anyone know how to get the pictures from the Samsung M320 cell phone into iTunes? I tried a USB cable but the computer doesn't seem to want to connect to the camera and do anything with it. I tried Bluetooth and while I seemed to be able to connect it to my iMac I couldn't really seem to do anything with it. I called the store I bought it from and they seemed to think the only way was to use the send picture feature which as far as I can tell I have to pay for and can only send one photo at a time. The phone does not seem to have any remoovable card or anything that the pictures are on.
    Any advice?

    http://datapilot.com/productdetail/89/producthl/Notempty/
That and an actual "data cable" compatible with this phone did the trick. Previously I had a "USB charging cable" from WalMart which is apparently only good for charging not for data. With Datapilot I am able to download the pictures to my hard drive. It can also work with phonebooks and calendars to some extent but I don't need to do that yet and so can't speak as to that capability.
    Cheers!

I have an Icloud account, can I set up Itunes on my Samsung S4 cell phone?

On your S4 you can set up your iCloud email account with these settings: http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4864, and sync your iCloud contacts and calendars using SmoothSync for Cloud Contacts and SmoothSync for Cloud Calendars, but that's all.  You can't access iTunes.

  • My Yahoo account on my cell phone isn't synced with my Yahoo account on my desktop

I send emails from my desktop and later on, I want to review them on my cellphone and I'm unable to locate the email on my cell.  Same with sending an email via cellphone and then not having them listed in my Yahoo account on my desktop.

Pamela5657, being able to stay connected while on the go is definitely the idea of having a smartphone such as the Samsung S5. I am sorry to hear you are having trouble with viewing email on both the device and the website. We have the solution that will fix this for you right away. You can set your email account on your phone to be able to leave your email messages on the server. This way once you get an email to your inbox or if you send one, then you can view it both on your laptop or cell phone. Here are some steps http://vz.to/1CZGjMd that can help with this action. I certainly hope this helps with fixing this issue for you. Please keep us posted.
