Item category configuration

Hi Gurus,
i have simple question regarding the item categories.
i want to know where in the system the MM item categories are configured. how system will know that if S is there then its THird part, D is for services and L for subcontracting.
my understanding is that this information must have been stored in some table so which is it?
actually i want to configure a new item category just like L for my STO.
please guide me in this regard in case of further queries revert.

Adwait Bachuwar

Hi,
thank you for your replies.

as i have mentioned in the posting that my requirement is that when i am trying to do the STO but here i want the header material to be issued with other materials as well. for example STO is for a PC now i have to send monitor, keyboard, mouse etc.
that is why i wnat to use both the item categories U and L.

  • Sales contract item category configuration

    Hi,
What is the standard item category available in SAP CRM for sales contract.
What is the significance of Transaction category in Item category. I have configured BUS2000135- CRM Quantity/Value contract item for a z item category. It doesn't allow to add a partner determination which is configured for BUS2000121 Sales contract.

    Hi
I just checked an item category of type BUS2000135 and it contains a field for the partner procedure in the IMG.  Can you double check it? If the you can't find the field please add a screen shot  of the IMG  to your answer.
    Best regards - Christophe

  • Item category configuration for billing

    Hello Folks,
I cannot find this configuration. Am I right to say that ITC configuration for billing does not exist specifically from a spro menu and its done in Sales Document item configuration screen .
Also, please confirm that billing relevance is set only in sales document item configuration screen as well and no other place.
    regards
    Ravi

    Ravi,
What you are saying is correct and this is the only place where you define the billing relevance of an item. Apart from this, there is no other place where you need to configure billing relevance of an item. You are correcti n your understanding.

  • Does item category TAS allow to create Outbound delivery doc?

    Hi experts,
I have a problem with the delivery creation.  The scenario is:
Our vendor missed to deliver a part to us. Say for example he missed to delivery the screw (used to adjust the time) in the wrist watch. This part is supposed to be assembled together with the wrist watch & delivered to our customer.
Now we need to deliver this missed part to our customer. The initial watch has been shipped to the customer without the screw. But the cost of the screw is already included in the total cost of the watch.
Now the vendor is going to send us this screw.  So my requirement is to create a subsequent free of charge kind of sales order that triggers a PR to the vendor & once this PR is converted to PO, on the PO
the Free Item will be ticked as the Vendor charged us for the whole wrist watch. This is also a kind of subsequent free of charge delivery by the vendor.
When I use item category TAS it does generates the PR & I converted this to a PO to this vendor. I also did the GR for this PO.  But when I create outbound delivery for this subsequent free of charge sales order,
it says the item is not relevant for delivery.
Could you tell me how to handle this situation & what item category to use which will allow me to create
Outbound delivery so that I can proceed to post goods issue & create 0 dollar invoice?
    Thanks for your help.
    Regards,
    Pri

Check the item category configuration for TAS. It does not have the tick for 'Item relevance for delivery'.
This can be seen in the following path:
IMG > Sales and distribution > Sales > Sales documents > Sales document item > Maintain item categories.
The idea of having a 3rd party sale (with item category TAS) is that the item is directly delivered from your vendor to customer. When you perform goods receipt of the PO, it will not ask for a storage location, since the product does not enter the plant premises.
This is a one step method to dispatch goods directly. Hence the outbound delivery is not required once GR is done.  The next step is to enter a vendor invoice followed by customer billing document.
If you check the accounting part of the GR material document it will be
    Cost of goods sold DR
    GR/IR clearing account CR
However, in your case, since the material is a FOC, there should not be an accounting document, and hence no vendor invoice verification / customer billing.
In standard, the item category TAS is relevant for billing. Hence if you do not require billing (being FOC), I suggest you use another item category (a copy of TAS) without billing relevance. I guess everything else should fall in place.

  • Item Cetgory configuration

I have a small problem i.e., in Item Category Configuration the fields for Revenue recongintion & Delimit Start date  are already configured and are now grayed out. I am unable to change the option.
Could any one tell me from can we control these fields so that we can configure the fields as we want.

    Hi,
The Revenue Recognition fields cannot be directly changed but it is possible... please follow the steps given below: (If you want to create the new item category with different Revenue Recognition data)
    1) For creating New item category - Copy from the old item category.
    2) Revenue recognition field are grayed out - go to revnue recognition assignment and search for the item category which is having similar data of revenue recognition as u want. copy this into new item category which you created.
    3) But you will see that in new item category - the Transaction flow data will becomes blank - so now you assigned this transactional flow data manually.
So the actual Item category assignment which was copied from old one will remain same and the new item category will also have the revnue recognition fields as per requirement.
Others: please look this solution and give suggestions.

  • Item Category for Sales Materials

    Hello all,
Please can you help with the item category to use for a material that will not undergo delivery process. My client wants to bill the customer immediately after creating the sales order.

    Hi,
In the item category configuration in VOV7 , for the particular item category, maintain billing relevance as 'B' - Order related billing.
OR you can set up cash sales scenario where in the document type is 'CS' and item category is 'BVN'

  • Item category usage - how to configure

    My client requirements are
Need a new Usage code (item category usage)
description =  "Included with System "
The users will use this to add items to the sales order as Free Goods but the revenue for the items is already embedded in the main item
    How to configure this?
Also are there any additional updates required to allow the usage code to be used ?
    Thank you!

    Hi
Usage indicator is something else. Just go through F1 help and see for what purpose we can use this field. What you are looking for is free goods configuration. This has been discussed so many times. Search with thext free goods and see if you find something. If you have some other requirement then come again with more explanation.

  • Change Sales Order Item Category for a configurable material with config

    Hi
My problem is related to Variant configuration. We have a requirement that depending on the ordered quantity and required replenishment lead time the business scenario for a configurable will get changed. that means some characteristics value selection will trigger the business scenario to be followed, whether it will be Make to Order, Buy to Order or 3rd Party drop-ship order. and the business process to be followed will be triggerd by the Item category to be selected in the sales order line item.
so , the requirement is to change the item category of the sales order line item with the carecteristiocs value selection in the  variant configuration screen. As we know, when ever the material is getting entered in to the sales order line item, depending on the Item category group in the material master data the item category in the sales order line item used to get determined. after that when we are selecting the characteristics value set in the variant configurator, systen shoud chage the already determined item category of the sales order.
Hope I have clearly furnished my problem and requirement. Can anyone show me the way to fulfil my requirement. Any further clarification requirement to understand and resolve the issue is cordialy appriciable.
    Regards'
    Som

    Thanks Krishna
But as u mentioned the way to make the non editable field into editable one. But that will applicable in case of manual chage. But can it be applicable for changing the Item category by using Object dependency??
Actually in our scenario, for some of the item category that field in the sales order line item remains editable. we have tested with that also. Once the item category is getting determined, object dependenct is not able to modify the item category in the sales order line item.
I have explores something, if I include PSTYV field in VCSD_UPDATE, will it work? VCSD_UPDATE is the table that contains field of sales order can be modified with the usage of object dependency.
    Please let me know ASAP.

  • How to configure Item Category in Purchase Order document

    Hi
Can someone tell me how to configure the Item Category in Purchase ORder document?  This field is displayed next to Account Assignment in PO screen.
    Thanks,
    Lin-Lin

I think your issue is screen layout of the PO
    please go to
SPRO-MM-Purchasing-Purchase order-Define Screen Layout at Document Level
here you can select the ME21N and double click on it
on field selection of basic data you can make item category is optional than it will be avialable
if still you find the problesm than check your field selection of your document type and change that field selection as above mentioned.

  • Item category for Configurable material in return sales

    Hi all
I would like to know the Item category for the Configurable Material in Sales Returns process. (In MTO scenario)
    Thanks and Regards
    BMS

    Hi  BMS
The item category will be  REN , because the return process is same . But the only thing is in  REN item category you have to maintain the BOM data as item categroy TAC has
Secondly make sure in item category determination in VOV4 you determine the item category REN .
    For example RE  + 0004 + --- + = REN

Though it is kind of basic question but still you just said "Found it" which is not gonna help anyone. It would be nice if you share how and where did you found it or you could delete the thread if you don't wana share the solution. Every thread should be helpful for members from where they can get some knowledge.

  • Usage in Free Goods Item category Determination

    Hi,
I have configured the Free Goods and it is working fine and I had to utlize the SAP standard Usage "FREE" in the Free Goods Item category determination as per the below:
Sales Doc Type    It.Cat.Grp.     Usage   HLevItCat.  DItemCat    MitCat
    ZOR1                    NORM           FREE        ZAN1         ZANN
    ZOR1                    NORM                            ZAN1         ZANN          TAX
I know this "Usage" is available in CMIR and I don't find it in any other places. So, if any materila for which there is no CMIR, then in that case where should I use this "Usage"? Because I want to change the standard SAP Usage "FREE" to "ZREE". How can I change it and assign it? Please guide me.
    Thanks,
    Jans

    Hi,
Try to do as mentioned below.
step by step process for free goods.
    1. need to create the free goods condition(condition tables/access seq and types) and pricing procedure and then assign the same to sales area, doc. Priccing proce and cust pri. Procde.
2.you need to maintain the condition records( tcode: VBN1) and maitain the data as mentioned
    above(check Notes 2 sheet)
    3. if you don't want the free goods item to be created, then you need to add the NRAB condition type to the pricing procedure(document pricing procedure not Free goods pricing procedure) and need to maintain the condition record for this
    condition in VK11.
once all this is done, you can see free goods price reduced in the net price and if additional item is added, then you will the quantity (as per condition record) for that free good.
    Thanks,
    Srini.

  • Unable to change item category in Create SA with ref to contract

We have a  centralised subcontracting contract (item category "L") in place for a material. The requirement is to create a scheduling agreement with reference to this contract line item item category "Blank" (Standard).
But the item category field is greyed out (display only) when we try to create scheduling agreement with refernce to contract on the "Adopt + Details" screen. And we are not able to change the item category "L" to "Blank". Is there a way we can make this item category field editable on this screen before we hit "Adopt + Details".
I have tried most of the field selection configuration, but there is no specific field selection group for this screen.
Please note that the system allows you to change the item category when you create a PO with reference to this contract.

    Thanks Manu for your suggestion!
But this is the process that we need to map. Request others to respond if they have comes across such a requirement and able to address it.
Again I want to make a note here that if it is possible on POs, there should be a way to make it work for SAs.
