ITunes 10.6.3 on XP X64 (not officially supported of course)

I have found a few articles online that explain how to accomplish installing some really old version of iTunes on XP X64, but today I had complete success including removal of the error "iTunes was not properly installed. If you wish to import or burn CDs, you need to reinstall iTunes."
By performing a web search I found instructions on doing the following:
Grab Orca.msi (included in a Microsoft SDK, but can typically be found extracted)
itunes64setup.exe
7-zip
Download and install QuickTime separately, then:
Unpack/unzip itunes64setup.exe using 7-zip
Right click on itunes64.msi and choose edit with orca (This menu only appears if you installed the orca.msi)
In the left pane, under the tables list, highlight LaunchCondition
In the right pane change VersionNT64>=600 to VersionNT64>=501
Go to File / Save (or click the floppy disk icon)
You need to do this same step with Orca on AppleMobileDeviceSupport64.msi
Then run itunes64.msi
A lot of people get this far but then get "iTunes was not properly installed. If you wish to import or burn CDs, you need to reinstall iTunes." when they try to launch iTunes.
Online there are articles that state that you need to install drivers from Gear Software located here:
http://www.gearsoftware.com/support/drivers.php
This resolved a ton of people getting the error on Vista x64, but not me.
After installing the Gear drivers I ran sysinternals filemon watching for itunes.exe and Highlighting the word Gear.  It showed that itunes.exe was looking for:
c:\windows\sysnative\drivers\GearAspiWDM.sys
I created the folder c:\windows\sysnative
I created the folder c:\windows\sysnative\drivers
I copied c:\windows\system32\drivers\GearAspiWDM.sys to c:\windows\sysnative\drivers\GearAspiWDM.sys
Now I no longer see "iTunes was not properly installed" when launching iTunes.
Just thought I would share for anyone who hates that popup as much as I did.

So far, you're the only one that has replied. I just run it by hand.
I just hate to lose my iTunes library further down the line because of something like this. I can't take rating and making all of those playlists again.

  • Photoshop has detected graphics hardware that is not officially supported for 3d

From what I've read I thought 512 MB or vRAM would work with 3d. It used to anyhow. I get the pop up that says it's not officially supported for 3d, and has temporarily disabled 3d functionality.
I've tried setting the prefences under graphics processor settings to Basic, Normal, and Adavanced with no luck getting the 3d to work again. It was working fine before the last update to 13.1

I just find it weird that the card is on the approved list, and meets the requirments and used to work. But yeah this mac is a few years old at this point. I'm just hoping that someone at Adobe reads this and can shed some light. I'm hoping maybe there's a button I need to click on, or something cheaper then buying an entire new computer when I really don't think I need to. Photoshop has really bloated up!

  • Injustice: Gods Among Us device not officially supported

I downloaded the Injustice Gods Among Us app on my iPod touch 4g with iOS 6.1.6.
When I open it I get a message saying:
"Warning this device is not officially supported. You may experience low performance and instability."
When I get to the menu, I press play and wait for the game to load, then it just crashes and exits the app back to my home screen on my iPod. This keeps happening and so I contacted the developer about it.
    They said:
"Unfortunately Injustice is not officially compatible with iPod 4G but the game should work. As the game is not officially compatible, we cannot offer any support in case that you experience issues with the app."
If the game 'should work' then why isn't it working on my iPod?

    See:
iOS: Troubleshooting applications purchased from the App Store
Contact the developer/go to their support site dince it seems to be an app problem, not an iPod problem. It is the developer giving you the warning. The developer is the one that makes the app work/not works ith iOS devices, not Apple.

  • Photoshop says dectecting grahics hardware not officially supported.  How do I fix this?

Photoshop says "detecting graphics hardware not officially suppoeted.  What does this mean and how do I fix problem?

Not supported in other words would mean that the claimed features may not work as advertised on your hardware and the customer and tech support will not bother with you. Technically this means that they didn't test Photoshop during the programming if it works on your graphics hardware (video card) or they didn't bother debugging problems on it. To fix this problem, check what hardware is listed as supported on their site and get one.

  • I have injustice gods among us and it says my device is not officially supported, What do I do?

Please someone tell me how to fix the instability in the app.

I suggest you follow the advice already given - contact the developer and ask them to confirm that your model of iPod can use that game. If it can, and there is a problem, then the developer should be able to help you.

  • PS detected graphics hardware that is not officially supported...

...If you experienceproblems, please uncheck the Use graphics Processecor checkbox in the performance panel dialogue.
Then I click OK and get this message:
The monitor profile 831W G2.2 D78 appears to be defective. Please rerun your monitor calibration software.
How do I re-run my monitor calibration software? I have a CD that came with monitor. But I don't see anything about calibration anywhere.
The program seems to be working but I am new to this and maybe there is something that is not working that I haven't yet discovered.
    Thanks for any suggestions.
Edit: I have Windows XP Professional Edition and my AOC monitor has # on it: AOC DCR10000:1
My processor is AMD Athlon Dual Core 5200+ and I have something called NVIDIA control panel in my control panel.

What model of nVidia video card do you have?  It may be that your video card is simply outdated and in order for Photoshop to give you the best possible experience you'll need a new one.
You may be able to get more specific information from Photoshop by using the Help - System Info feature.
Heh, I think DCR10000:1 is your dynamic contrast ratio spec. I'm not familiar with the AOC line...   What is the monitor model number (and more pertinently, does it have a "standard" or "wide" color gamut)?
Perhaps most importantly, do you rely on color-management in your workflow?
If not, or you don't know what color-management is, and your monitor is not a wide-gamut model perhaps settting your monitor to use the standard sRGB IE61966-2.1 color profile instead of the (apparently defective) one provided by AOC would be the quickest solution to your second problem.  This would be accomplished in the Windows XP display properties dialog somewhere (I'm no longer familiar enough with the XP specifics to guide you more directly).

  • A new version of iTunes (8.0.2) is available - does not install !!

    I have iTunes 8.0.1.11.
When using iTunes a dialog box states that 'A new version of iTunes (8.0.2) is available. Would you like to download it now?'
I click the Download iTunes button and I am taken to the download site and successfully download the iTunesSetup.exe file (which is file version 8.0.2.20).
If I double click this file to install the new version I get a dialog box stating that the 'publisher could not be verified' but I click the Run Button anyway but - nothing happens.
The hard drive light flashes for a second but that is all.
I have watched what happens by having Windows Task Manager opened and iTunesSetup.exe runs for a second and then exits.
There are no error messages or anything to indicate that there is a problem and nothing to indictate why the setup does not start.
Why is this happening (or not happening)???

Hmm, no response, I guess this must be too hard a problem to solve
Is this because XP is not officially supported any more??
People who have problems installing on Vista seem to get a response!!
I think that I will just keep the version of itunes that I currently have installed as, judging by the people on this forum who have problems with the new version, I am probably better off not upgrading anyway.

For general advice see Troubleshooting issues with iTunes for Windows updates.
The steps in the second box are a guide to removing everything related to iTunes and then rebuilding it which is often a good starting point unless the symptoms indicate a more specific approach. Review the other boxes and the list of support documents further down page in case one of them applies.
Your library should be unaffected by these steps but there is backup and recovery advice elsewhere in the user tip.
The section Install missing components has advice on breaking down the iTunes installer into the individual .msi files which might prove useful if one component won't install normally.
If needs be, the Microsoft Program Install and Uninstall Utility (MS Installer "Fixit") may be able to help force through the installation.

It is always these four updates that fail.  I've tried downloading and installing them seperately from apple downloads.  I've tried various recommended fixes, and nothing I can figure out works.  Before these problems, itunes worked on the computer for a year.
