ITunes 8.2.1(6) upgrade deleted music content - help!

I recently upgraded to 8.2.1(6), and subsequently had trouble sync'ing my iPod Touch. iTunes would go through the process, and then hand up. I found that a significant amount of my music and videos are GONE after the update. The album folders exist in the iTunues music folder, but the music files - and/or video files - are missing. Much if this is music that I purchased from iTunes.
Note that my playlists and library are still intact, so the missing songs are still listed (along with purchase dates)
Some of the music is still on my iPod, but not all of it (won't fit):
1. how can i recover this lost music?
2. if I can't recover it, will APPLE download it to me again (for free?)

Don't count on Apple to help you out. No offense to Apple, I'm just sayin...
Is the lost content still on your iPod? There are several utilities such as Senuti and Yamipod that will allow you to get music off an iPod and move it to your hard drive.
If the number of files is not too large, I'd try putting each file back into the folder where it belongs.

  • ITunes will not allow me to delete music off of my iPhone, is there a way to fix this?

I just updated my hard drive, and haven't synced my phone to my laptop in a while because it wasn't working until now. Now, I'm trying to delete music off of my phone/generally manage it but when I left click on a song it only gives me about 4 options, none of them are delete.

To delete a track from your phone (you are in the 'on my device' music section ?) then just select/highlight the track and press the delete button on your keyboard.

  • Palm Pre - Delete music - PLEASE HELP!!!

Ok, so the instructions on deleting music from the Pre is to connect it to a computer using the USB mode and just deleting whatever you want.  However, when I do this, there are ABSOLUTELY NO MUSIC FILES listed in the Palm Pre window.  I have a Mac.  Please tell me how to fix this problem!
Post relates to: Pre p100eww (Sprint)

There should be a folder named ipod or itunes, I can't remember which, Itunes places them into this folder. It is best to connect back to itunes and delete them that way but with the newest version the Pre is not reconized, So you could go into thet folder and delete them that way, Itunes tags them funny so it may be best to delete everything in that folder and create a new folder in the main screen when you are in usb mode, Name it "Music" drag and drop your songs into it and the music player will find them.

  • ITunes changing the ID3 tags and deleting music after syncing or opening

After syncing (or opening iTunes), iTunes changes the tags in about 25% of my music (this time it was about 90% affected). It removes the total track number on some of the songs. This has been a consistent problem. I noticed that it also actually erased some of my music, random tracks in my library are now missing (gone in windows explorer also). I have reformatted my iPod and restored it, it's not that. What is going on!! Going through and fixing 7500 songs every time I sync is ******* me off
Here is a picture of what it is doing: removing the total track on some songs
    http://i169.photobucket.com/albums/u233/jupiterssj4/itunes.jpg
Forgot to mention that it also copied the artist field data to the album artist field... had to erase all of those too

Mine is doing the exact same thing. It happens every time I click on a song. Weird letter-number strings are inserted into the Comments field, my album art is gone, and the track numbers are messed up.
I've tried upgrading to the new iTunes. I tried reinstalling iTunes. I turned off my soundcheck option and deleting potentially comprised files. Nothing's worked.
I've tried emailing Apple directly and got no help. Anyone know what's going on???

  • I recently purchased iTunes Match. How do I delete music previously downloaded on iPad? It is just using space on my iPad now.

When I check my storage, I notice there are 5gb of music being stored on my iPad. With iTunes Match this should make storage of my music on iPad no problem. I would like to remove the music that was previously downloaded on my iPad, however, there is no obvious way to target the music that was downloaded nor deleting that music either. Any suggestions would be much appreciated.

With that much music, it would be easiest to connect your iPad to your computer and via iTunes sync, manage the music on your iPad.  Once your iPad is recognized in iTunes, click on the device once and your iPad will open in iTunes.  Then click on Music and you have the option to check with songs, albums, artists, etc., you want on your device.  Once you're done choosing the music you want, click on Apply on the bottom right hand corner, then sync so you have a current backup.
If you want to delete a song directly on your iPad, open up the Music App,  WIth your finger touch and hold it on any song you want to delete, then swipe your finger to the right and a Delete box will open.  Touch Delete and the song will be deleted.

  • Can I use the itunes since the latest update to delete music from my iphone 4?

I thought I used to be able to right click and choose delete but that's not an option anymore. Any help?

You can ONLY do that if you have Manually manage music selected.
You cannot manually manage and sync. You have to do one or the other. Changing between the two will erase the current music.

  • Itunes created alot of problems with my music PLEASE HELP!

Good morning everyone; well lets just say I've spent about 10 hours trying to upload all my music files to itunes for use on my Ipod and it's just killing me; there must be a better way.
So this is what's happening. Before purchasing my ipod I used Windows Media play and uploaded about 200 CD's and about 3K in misc music files from the net. So when I went to put them into itunes it created about 3 duplicate files in itunes and just about doubled my music file (from 10 G to 28G); Also some of my CD Files that were converted are missing (A 15 track CD is now 10 for example) The mp3 files are still there so I have to manually re-add everything. Not to mention delete the mp3 to save space. Also the album art is not showing up but it's in my music folder, whats up with that?
I'm I doing something wrong? I've always wanted an ipod and thought this would be somewhat simple but I have about 20 hours left of editing if I want to get all my 5K Files on this thing. I'm going crazy and need help PLEASE I'm begging! Sorry for the long post any help is greatly appreciated!
    Thanks Tom

    I used Windows Media
iTunes allows for .mp3, or .aac only. When you add from Windows Media iTunes throws a popup letting you know it needs to convert .wm, etc. to .mp3. Answer 'yes'.
Open Preferences > Advanced > General. Make sure 'Keep iTunes Music Folder Organized' is not checked. Otherwise iTunes will create its own folder > sub-folder(s) > song file, hierarchy.
Again, Preferences > Advanced > Importing. 'On CD Insert' Show Songs, 'Import Using' - MP3 Encoder, 'Setting' - either 160 kps, or 192 kps (my personal favorite), 'Play songs while importing' - no checkmark, 'Create filenames with track number' - no checkmark, 'Use error correction when reading Audio CD's' - your preference.
Existing music files you want to add to iTunes, check the extension and make sure it's one iTunes supports. If not, iTunes should ask you if it can re-encode the file to mp3 or aac.
iTunes hierarchal folder structure, and support for only .mp3 and .aac extensions may be why you don't see the file in iTunes Library, but still see the file in your computer.
    Hope this helps.

  • Deleted music - please help!

    Hi,
I accidentally deleted my music from my iPhone, thinking it was my iTunes library. Is there any was I can retrieve the music? It's taken me so long to collate the music and perfect my playlists, so I'm panicking right now. Any advice would be extremely appreciated.
    Many thanks,
    Luke

Each time I connect my iPhone to iTunes, the data is apparently backed up. For example, the last time my iPhone was backed up was a few hours ago, just before I stupidly deleted all of my music. Does this mean that I can retrieve the music via restore, or is it gone for good? Appreciate your help btw.

  • ITunes not syncing apps after upgrading to ios 5 - Help :(

I downloaded the firmware for ios 5 as it took 60 mins to download last night, and when it got to 10 mins, it errored. I backed up everything, and it gave me the option to restore backup once i had installed the new ios firmware.
However, all it gave me was my contacts and photos. In my itunes library, i have all my apps there, but i am unable, after 2 hours, to find a way to get the apps in my itunes to go on my ipod. I tried nearly everything:
Unticked manually manage music and videos
    Restored old back up
    Googled for over an hour
    Authorised my account
    Restarted computer several times
    Uninstalled/reinstalled iTunes a few times
    Pressed "sync" over 50 times
All my apps are in my library and i have found all the .ipa files on my file browser. The problem isn't redownloading all my apps again, its all the saved levels, settings etc on my games/apps. Here is a pic of my itunes if it helps... http://i51.tinypic.com/34gq1b4.png
    Many thanks in advance,
    Yoni

I'm having the same problem ! Each time the sync starts it suddenly stops and says finished syncing

  • I have two 2nd generation iPods and iTunes will no longer let me delete songs (Delete in gray)?

I have two 2nd generation iPods and iTunes will no longer let me delete music from either one. If I select a song, "Delete" is gray in the menu and cannot be selected. What's happened? New iTunes not compatible?

In order to manually remove music from the iPod via iTunes, you need to have the Manually manage music and videos option checked from under each iPod's Summary tab.

  • How do I empty trash after deleting music, apps and photos from my iPhone to make more room for upgrading to iOS 8.1?

How do I empty trash after deleting music, apps and photos from my iPhone to make more room for upgrading to iOS 8.1?  It says I don't have enough room to upgrade so I have deleted some of everything but do not see an improvement in my storage space. Help?

    No need to empty anything.
You can update by connecting your phone to iTunes on your computer. This way you bypass the space limitations.

  • How to sync iphone 4s to itunes on new computer without deleting music?

I left my window open and my motherboard got rained on. I had to replace it and my phone was synced to it. I replaced my motherboard so I have a new computer basically and now my music is all unorganized and messy in my library. How do I make this itunes my new main one without deleting my music? I only want to do this because I purchased songs on my phone instead of my computer and although it is the same account I cant download the songs I bought unless I sync my phone (or at least thats the only way to my knowledge). I'm shocked apple is still running itunes so poorly =/
Also, my itunes isnt completely up to date because when I originally upgraded to a newer version of itunes my entire organized library was deleted. I was pretty angry. Im scared to update it now.

  • How can I delete music from my iPhone 4 (iOS7) when I manually manage the music in iTunes, but it has no affect on my phone's music library?

I'm attempting to delete music from my iPhone 4 (iOS7). When I connect it to iTunes, and the music shows up, I delete the music from the phone. When I disconnect the phone, the music is still there. The same thing happens if I try to sync the phone before disconnecting. I have "manually manage music" checked. Additionally, when I reconnect my iPhone, the music I "deleted" from it when it was previously connected to iTunes no longer appears, preventing me from trying to delete it again.
I know I can swipe left on each song to delete it on my phone, and I have been, but that takes a long time when you're trying to delete everything on your iPhone.
    Suggestions?

    Hello Salmomma,
Thank you for the details of the issue you are experiencing when trying to connect your iPhone to your Mac.  I recommend following the steps in the tutorial below for an issue like this:
    iPhone not appearing in iTunes
    http://www.apple.com/support/iphone/assistant/itunes/
Additionally, you can delete music directly from the iPhone by swiping the song:
Delete a song from iPhone: In Songs, swipe the song, then tap Delete.
