ITunes account wipe?  No history or giftcard balance

I just logged onto my iPad after it was updated to iOS6, and it said that my Apple ID had never been used before, which is odd because I have used it quite a bit in the past.  Then after I went through the setup again, all of my data is gone.  My songs are missing, apps are not there, gift card balance is gone.  This has be VERY concerned as I have spent several hundred dollars on itunes and I am pretty ****** that it gone.
Any thoughts as to how this could happen?

I think you logged into a different ID by accident there. Contact iTS, they may have to dig around in directory services a bit to see where you went astry there.

    There is nothing to link or unlink between devices and Apple ID's.
    Either there is an Apple ID signed in on the device or there is not.
    Signing out may cause media to disappear from the device, depending on whether it is purchased via the iTunes store or acquired from another source.  If using iCloud or iMatch to get media on the device, that will go away when signing out from the Apple ID on the device.
    Any apps, mail, contacts, calendars linked to the Apple ID will be removed when signing out of the Apple ID on the device.

    Having MAJOR problems here, I hope someone can help!     So I have made sure my date and time are correct numerous times over, this page is really of no help to me as i have Windows Vista not XP or 2000, plus my problem is not even listed on this page they want me to visit for "more info". The cookies thing....not sure about, but nowhere on the page does it say how to help this.....like I said before though, we used to not have any problem whatsover with iTunes, redeemed many a gift card, now we can't redeem a gift card at all, we get this SAME message every time. And now we can't even use the remaining balance on the gift card that's even in our iTunes account we get this same message.

    There is only one way, and that is for the agency's IT or OIS depending on the acronym they use, to do the download and install or provide you with an approved link to do so.  I know of no US Federal agency that allows an employee to download and install any software on a government owned computer.  Doing so is a security violation.  Plus, no employee has the necessary privileges to install software.
    Some agencies are not permitting use of personal devices, that is, smart phones and tablets, but those are required to use the Division system to isolate all government content from personal content.
    The Apple Store for Government may have a way to purchase, but installation requires the permission of your agency.

    It should be.  Have you tried restarting the devices?

  • My findings on apps charged twice and iTunes account purchase history lost

    I've just got permission from Rebecah, from iTunes support, to publish my findings, so it can be of help to others about POTENTIAL duplicated charges in iTunes Store.
    First of all, as Rebecah adviced me, I have to say that, although she states "Apple doesn't know how I ended up with two accounts with the same email", I should note that it's my fault because I signed up with another account, as their records say.
    Now, to my findings:
    1) It seems after 9 responses I had from iTunes support about my request for help with a suspected issue affecting THOUSANDS (more?) users, Apple relies on the SAME SUSPECTED system, on the SAME DATA RESULTING FROM THE BUG REPORTED to test whether the bug exists or not.
    Why? Because nobody checks or looks for an answer other than "it's your fault. The system says you have two accounts. Stop using one account (that you created)".
    2) I couldn't sign up with the same account. You couldn't. Try it by yourself. Rebecah knows that. She stated +"we can't see how the second account was created or why it occurred"+ but she wants me to note it was my fault, before I post (again) in the forums.
    3) I was advised/encouraged by iTunes support and iTunes application's new login window to use my email as the login, instead of the id. NOWHERE in the site/application says my new login will create a new user, losing my purchase history (money)
    4) My first post about the matter was removed, and there's no willing to find a fix. Not even a test to see if that can happen the way I say. Anyone with a free .mac account please try logging in with your non-mac email (the one related to your iTunes account) and let me know what happened with the purchase history.
    My posts are shorter every time, for the sake of your search for help, because I'm closer to "you're wrong, shut up" and clearer like "I couldn't create two accounts with the same email". The reason why an issue that is making duplicated charges it's not solved yet… I can only GUE$$

    I have the same problem as well. I rented a movie a couple of days ago, it was downloading, but was taking longer than usual, so i canceled the download, just so i can continue it for the next day. The next day, I get the error when checking for downloads that Itunes is not available. hasn't worked since. I also tried purchasing a tv show today and got the 5002 error. It charged me twice as I pressed it twice since my balance didn't refresh 'til i bought it a second time..

    First, make sure you're logged into the iTunes Store using the account ID and password you set up, or used, when you redeemed your card/gift.  If you are, try signing out of the account and back in.
    If you're sure you are using the correct account and that you're signing in to the iTunes Store, and signing out and back in doesn't help, go to the Purchase History and review your purchases to make sure that you should indeed have a balance left. iTunes doesn't always refresh the balance it shows, so it's possible you spent the money and it just wasn't being reflected in the display. This display error can usually be corrected by logging out of the iTunes Store and then back in.
    If you confirm that you should have balance left but the iTunes Store isn't showing it correctly, send a message to the iTunes Store customer service department through the contact form you'll find by selecting the most applicable section of their Support page (select the Contact Support link and follow the instructions) and explain the problem to them.

The itunes main page shows an _account balance which is great_, but when funds are taken out and you feel there was a double charge,the account history does not show that gift cards were redeemed (credit to account), only purchases, so how does a customer, balance their account

    If you are double charged, it will show in your purchase history.
    If you put in a $25 gift card, you can only make $25 worth of purchase.
    Compare your purchases from the time you input your gift card.

    There is no sign of my Apple ID in the iTunes Store, no matter how many times I log in.
    If I click on the "Purchase History" from my itunes receipt email, it redirect me to the itunes download page, everytime!
    ALL I want is the BALANCE - How hard can it be!?! (...and purchase history would be nice!).
    But instead the only options under Account are:
    Update your Apple ID email address and password
    Change your default shipping or billing info
    Update Express Checkout settings
    Manage email subscriptions
    And the "Store - View Order History" knows nothing about itunes order history!
    And all the iTunes links, keep sending me to the download page!!!
